16 Mar 2015 22:39:15
Dags, did I ever tell you about when I was backpacking across western Europe?

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 19:51:44
Gus Poyet sacked.

Shame, decent manager.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - if he was a decent manager they would not be 1 point off the relegation places dags...results dont lie mate..

16 Mar 2015 20:58:32
to be fair - what has he got to work with

name one decent player they have got??

all rejects from better/other clubs imho!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 21:08:22
Sorry Dags but he is bloody awful, looked completely lost on the touch line and like he just didn't have a clue.

Nice enough guy but not going to be a top manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 21:16:58
Unfortunately he signed most of them!

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 21:06:35
Well, decent bloke than lol

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 21:26:10
Sunderland do have more than their fair share of last decent pay packet already in semi retirement players that Poyet inherited.
Clubs need to be much more careful about giving more than 1 year or even a pay per game contract to top clubs fringe player rejects who think their doing the club a favour by just signing for them.
I know on Saturday with 10 minutes to go Wes Brown was yet to make a tackle in the whole game, quite something from a CB who's team had been under the kosh

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 21:30:11
I know Red,

But never nice to see a manager sacked.

Although, he will be paid off handsomely for his failure and walk straight into another job in the Summer.

Oh, what a life.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - lets have a whip round for gus.. ;0

16 Mar 2015 21:36:55
Damn you Ed,

Gotta raid the kids piggy bank again :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - just do what every driving instructor does dags...tell the pupils that they need another 6 lessons before they are ready for their test....cracking little earner mate.. :)

16 Mar 2015 21:44:43
He'd probably lose our money on the way to the bank as well Ed

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 21:47:22
I agree Dags it's not and after Di Canio I'd have thought they would have gone for a better option than Poyet, he didn't have a lot to work with but in honesty seems to be one of these not so great managers that circle around various clubs before they disappear.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 22:28:03
Don't tell everybody our secrets Ed :-)

Agree Red.
Decent Championship manager, nothing more.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 19:10:19
Ed025,

Do you know who St. Domingo's FC are?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i would think so dags...our famous song is "if you know your history" and i do mate.. :)....ps..they used to play at anfield aswell..

16 Mar 2015 19:32:36
Lol, top man Ed.

Was just on a "football facts" site and that one appeared.

Respect.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they used to whack a small team called woolwich in those days mate.. :)

16 Mar 2015 19:49:14
Lol Ed,

How things have changed? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - sadly your right mate..

16 Mar 2015 19:56:41
Ed did you know Everton is actually in Bedfordshire?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a school of science in bedfordshire?..surely not.. :)

16 Mar 2015 20:59:08
Not sure what the pub was called mate but they difinately had one there and a decent pint too if I remember right :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - was it called...the only english club in europe arms?.. :)

16 Mar 2015 21:21:09
Ed,

Nah, I think it was called "The Toffee's love Atsu Tavern" :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we like atsu dags...its mcgeady we dislike mate..

16 Mar 2015 21:38:06

Reading V Bradford tonight.

Who will you be rooting for?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

bradford...because they are not southern softies..

16 Mar 2015 19:28:22
Bradford because I'd like to see them get to Wembley after what they've achieved so far in the cup, obviously that would be more than enough reward to keep them happy for this season and anything more would only harm their long term future so its for the best they field their weakest 11 in the semi its self.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 20:22:26
Reading, because Bradford are a horrible team to play against.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 14:59:07
Edward025,

Very good win for your boys yesterday.

Question for you.

Seeing as you have just seen them in the flesh, so to speak, we play them away on Saturday.

Do we have enough in our locker to beat them?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - very much so dags they are poor ...if you play anywhere near your best you will wipe the floor them mate..

16 Mar 2015 19:04:04
So, if I put £500 on an away win and it doesn't come in, will you recompense me Ed? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - maybe not dags but they will be in all my footy bets, and i am known locally as "the oracle" and am the scourge of william hill, so take heed my friend and dont look a gift horse in the mouth..you heard it here first.. :)

16 Mar 2015 19:33:53
Ed,

I'm raiding the kids piggy bank even as we speak :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its an investment not a bet dags..

16 Mar 2015 15:04:16
So, Monaco.

How do we approach this one?

We need 3 goals.
They have conceded 4 goals in their last 17 games, and let's be honest, they showed us a masterclass at The Emirates 2 weeks ago.

Do we give it up, play a weakened team, thus conserving energy and possible injuries, or do we go all guns blazing, hope for a win and lay down a marker for the rest of the competition?

Talk to the Dags.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Mar 2015 17:15:56
I think we will play a strong team as we have the ability to turn this around that I don't doubt.

It's a win win situation, we are not expected to go through so if we don't pull it off (and no not coq Dags) then will it really matter.

We have a great chance of a cup final and 2nd in the league and City if they're not careful could fall behind us and Liverpool.

It's amazing how this fourth place trophy is now the most important thing in the World to so many clubs.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Mar 2015 17:48:35
It would be very sensible to play a weak team and save ourselves for the league as our CL spot is far from safe, but I'm an optimist so I say we play our best team and smash them 4-0!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 18:08:54
Youv got to go for it. Play pace. I wonder if welbeck will start over giroud. Just got a feeling

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 18:52:57
Welbeck, Sanchez and Wallcott start as strong as we can, if we aren't close after 60 minutes then change it

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - sounds good to me BG mate..

16 Mar 2015 19:10:53
One thing I must say is if he is fit we must play Gabriel over sac. Last thing we want is chasing a game and playing high up the pitch with sac. High defensive line and him will end badly quickly IMO

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 19:11:47
Personally I think it will end in heroic defeat again no matter how we go about it, but we have to give it 100% because stranger things have happened, I've no idea when or where but they have I'm sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

liverpool achieved something similar against milan in istanbul G62...all it took was a few bungs to the officials and milan players...well thats my take on it anyway mate..

16 Mar 2015 19:45:40
Yeah but we don't have Gerrard and his cry baby spuper expressive I'm in pain face to get their sympathy Ed, that this hurts me so so much face can not be underaged. We have Monreal and Giant German who likes to hide his face between his knees ever now and then in games so I think the sympathy vote is out of our reach :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 21:01:50
weakened team for me

all out for the league & fa cup forget champs league (no way we will win it anyway!)

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 14:39:33
Looks like there is no Monreal, or Bellerin from the training snaps. Great to see to Paulista back in training. So i am guessing Chambers, gibbs, Paulista, Wellbeck in the Squad for tommorow, it will be tough to decide between ramsey and carzola and how to fit them both unless one of them goes to the wing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - who is this Paulista? His name is Gabriel, he is from Sao Paulo, it is not a name it is to distinguish him from another Gabriel who is from a different area.}

16 Mar 2015 17:02:03
Gabriel Armando de Abreu may be a touch long for the back of his shirt. :-)

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Mar 2015 19:12:30
Call him gada then!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 12:20:02
We have had 21 different scorers this season.

More than any other Prem club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Mar 2015 16:01:46
Injuries lol.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Mar 2015 16:17:14
Is that from a 23 man squad? That includes 3 keepers so which one scored? or maybe it's a 25 man squad? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 17:27:19
Behave Chris lol.

I'm assuming 25 man squad 337.

There seems a real change in attitude and work rate in 2015 and what appeared to be at times a lazy arrogance about us seems to have been replaced by a real willingness to put in a shift in each and every game.
I'm not sure what's brought this change about whether its the Sanchez affect where his work rate has embarrassed a few players in training or something just snapped in Arsene especially after the Southampton away game when laziness and lack of responsibility seemed rife through out the team almost or if its the bringing in Le Coq a real DM has lifted the players or even a lack of Poldolski's influence around the place (harsh but our work rate has increased unbelievably since he left) or a combination of all these things but something has changed that's for sure.
On Saturday that new found effort was matched by what seemed like a real assured confidence and freedom amongst the players that I can only guess came from finally beating utd at old Trafford, maybe for the players that result confirmed to them they had finally turned a corner in big matches.
Tomorrow its a big ask to score 3 without conceding against a team that's built to keep goals out but whether we get through or not I'm looking forward to seeing our performance and hope to see what was there on Saturday what ever the result.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Mar 2015 10:19:26
I agree.. Although I feel its due to the Sanchez effect! He showed ozil n santi that being considered a world class player means giving 100% everytime n not just being supremely talented!

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 11:03:14
Sanchez has certainly lead by example no question about that G4, also seems a lot less tolerant of under performance from individuals than before Szczesney Gibbs have made way for the less fashionable but more reliable Ospina and Monreal and I think all are now seeing a lot less understanding and constantly supportive more expectant Arsene Wenger which has to be a good thing too.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 12:00:20
Totally agree G62.

3 things stand out for me.

1) The Sanchez effect.

2) A proper DM like Coq.

3) And possibly the most important, Wenger's willingness to listen to his players (before the City game) and not continue to do things 'his' way.

4) Remy's influence.
Oh, wait.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 16:05:23
Lol DG its got be the Coq, infact sanchez has stopped being his best from a few games, but i would give marks because now we can play with more fludity, when you don't conceed its always easier to score.
