Who or what p we need to add in Jan?

A centre half and a striker?

I like Giroud but he needs hlp and rest. I think Theo, Ox and Pod add alternative and Lacey options but we need a player like Giroud who brings the attack together. Hence Theo is not the answer in our current set up, nor is Pod.

But who is?

I think Dzeko could play a similar role and would be happy to be on the bench as second choice.

Centre half - don't know but I think it is cover for Per as Tommy and cover Kos.

Thoughts?

Why would Dzeko be happy as a 2nd choice at a Arsenal when he can do that at city for much more money?

He would only move to us if we guaranteed him first team football.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, except I cannot imagine Dzeko being happy on the bench. I would try and sign Micah Richards, as cover for Merte and Sagna, as I am not a huge fan of Jenkinson, although after Ramsey's emergence, I tend to be a bit more patient with young players. Richards is also English, which helps the quota.

Richards for me as he can play r/b and c/b equally, I know he ain't in top form at the moment but he is a very good player that is young with loads of experience and a PL medal.
Up front I think Benzema is very very likely to join us in January

Hi SY4

Can you enlighten us as to what a Lacey option is? Are they special stockings or shorts that are maybe intended to distract the opposition players?

I think my fat fingers on my iPad and autocorrect have messed up a few things!

Pacey was the word I was looking for. There were a number of clumsy errors on my post - sorry about that

I think we have pacey options to return so we need a striker who can play with their back to goal to bring in midfield and be happy to play second fiddle to Giroud while being good enough to replace him if injured / rested or dropped. Quite a big ask really. So I believe a youngster or someone in their later years who are both content to sit on the bench for long spells or a quality player getting limited action where they are so happy to try a new club, get a little more action and a chance to work with Wenger. That's why I thought Dzeko. He will get more game time with us and could play a similar role, have EPL experience so no bedding in and probably a little quicker than Giroud so not a bad plan B.

I think Sagna could be the back up for Per but that then leaves us exposed at RB. Jenko will be a decent player but I don't think he is ready yet. So if Sagna is cover for Per then we need better cover for RB.

Team is looking pretty good though and when the sicklist shortens, it will be interesting to see the first team and bench. The last few games has shown we can field a quality 11 but we have no back up on the bench. This was critical at OT as the bench had nothing to offer.

Szczesney has signed a new long term deal and as one of his most harsh critics in the past I have to say I'm pleased.

If I had been appointed our manager in the summer he would have been well gone and along with Betner first out the door but this season he seems to have calmed down a lot and cut out 95% of his mad decisions that led me to rate as our biggest liability.
Us being top and once again being real contenders plus his more reasoned decision making are no coincidence, well done that man I'm so happy to eat as much of that humble pie as you can throw at me.

GUNNER62. Why Bendtner he's got a good hair style eh? They thought he had concussion the other day in a training match as he was actually facing the right way. LOL

If France don't make it to Brazil ( which is looking very likely) I think Arsene may well be tempted to serve his country and have Russia 2018 as his swansong

Hope I'm wrong but got a bad feeling about it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Absolutely, I find it very odd that Wenger won't sign a new deal and I believe the only national team he would manage is his own nation France. In his mid-60's it makes sense as he can be based in England where his daughter was brought up and he can manage France for 4 to 8 years, after which he can spend his final working years working with young players in under-privileged countries, which he has stated in the past.

Guys what do you think of the young goalkeeper we have, Damien Martinez, is he good enough to make the cut or will he be released in next few year
