Daley Blind and David De Gea have both picked up injuries this weekend on International duty.

I'm not one for laughing at other teams injuries.

Its childish, infantile, unnecessary and bad sportsmanship.

Oh hold on, its only Man Utd.

haha woohoo get in you beauty.

Classey dags.

Agree0 Disagree0

Steady on there Dags, our Jack, ox, Gibbo and (maybe) Theo are up against some tough tackling Scots at Celtic Park Tuesday eve. I can see this game being a bit of a ding dong! Saying that roll on Saturday, step it up & COYG

Thank you Chris, lol.

Fingers crossed PL2.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Hodgson plays Walcott against the Scots at parkhead this weekend I for one will be furious!

Agree0 Disagree0

What a shame for them! Who is their number 2 keeper? Sorry for the ignorance CR but i'm pretty up with the squads of the teams competing in europe but I struggle with the mid table ones.

The problem is my mouse is playing up and it only let's me scroll so much down the league :-p

Agree0 Disagree0

Walcott needs game time, 45 mins will do him good especially against the Scotts and if he scores it will do him the world of good

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree 337 the cotton wool has to come off somtime and might as well b in a competitive friendly than against man u when the result really matters

Again u are aware we are a place below u having played quite a few tricky games now.
And after this week will be in front of u yes? Once again your knowledge astounds me.

Rest assured our 2nd keeper will be better than that gob u have in goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tricky games? Youve got your trickiest coming up on Sat!

Sorry didn't get the name of that keeper?

Are you taking the bait CR? Tut Tut

Germany have dropped 5 of 12 points available without Mesut Ozil,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In all fairness they have been playing a very young team since the WC

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point mate but still think it shows his some times unnoticed contribution for club and country.

Just watched the england goals again and dare I say DW's second had a touch of TH14 about it!

I really hope this helps his confidence and he starts banging them in for us

Would love to have Henry on staff. Guiding him and TW

I was listening to a podcast where someone was talking about a book she wrote on the invincibles and how when new players came into the team Wenger would basically say. Look at what he does. Learn from him.

He collected players he wanted and let them out to play free form football.

She said this specifically of Cole. That he should learn from Dixon Adams Keown Winterburn. That they were the best teachers he could hope for.

The point she made later was that come ~2007 we had no more of the old guard. Henry/Pires/Freddie the famous 4 or and some of there replacements were on the wan.

Our young blood coming through had nobody to "learn from" and development of a lot of players was second rate to the development of some of previous talents.

What it would do so to have some of those boys on our coaching staff. Particularly because many of them are still young enough to be more involved i.e Campbell would be able for more of it than Adams

Agree0 Disagree0

We say this after ever international tho. Is record for england is like peter crouch. You play against worst defences than in the premier league 95percent of the time. I hope he buts manu to bed tho. He will be up for it big time

Haven't been here for a bit guys, feels good to be back, was watching the England game last night, and whilst I was suffering from long blinks, I watched wilshere and only wilshere during the game, and while we haven't played a Spain or Germany, he has rely impressed me in the recent internationals in the deep lying midfeild role, do you ugly lot think that we should use him in the same role? Or do you think that he is better and more useful in the final third?

Watching him pass was great yesterday, long or short, and he only dove into tackles a few times! (It's progress I guess!) I can see him being a good player in a more deep lying role, along side a beast in mid, he can give us another way in, one that we haven't used before, over the top.

Wilshere *enter enforcer*
Ramsey

What say you for our january midfeild?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think if Wilshere is going to get game time he has no other choice but to be deployed as a deep lying midfielder and I believe he has the ability to get the job done.

Midfield come January ideally I would like it to be:

Bender
Ozil
Ramsay

Up top:

Sanchez
Welbeck
OX

Agree0 Disagree0

I could live with
Rambo Bender Ox
Mesut
Theo Sanchez
More happily Van

It's a shame that Rooney hasn't made the most of some of his long passes over the last few England games.

He is definately improving but has a way to go as I think a Wanyama/Bender Ozil and a Ramsey on form middle three would be pretty special.

Walcott, Giroud and Sanchez up to.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm asking Santa for bender this year, that and a fully fit back four

On today's poll re Refs and lines persons I'd love to see them give 20 30 pens a game if necessary to stamp out this cuddling culture also I'd like retrospective action on diving and trying to con the ref of a 3 to 5 game ban for a first offence.
Let's get back to where the game was played with feet not arms and teeth, where defences aren't afraid to make a goal saving tackle for fear of giving away a pen because they took the ball but the ref was conned.
Tackling is as good as part of the game as dribbling and shooting and should be as protected imo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - well said G62! I reckon a weekend of pens being given would put a stop to it immediately.}

That's all it would take Ed a pen fest weekend would be enough and losing a star striker for 3 games would bring an end to diving if not 7 or 8 games for a second offence certainly would.
We all want to see players like Roben beat 3 men then score from an acute angle not con the ref and score from 12 yards with only the keeper to beat.
Wrestling is an alternative that offers fans who like the cheating all the bad bits of football on a regular basis but with better actors

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not so sure the actors in wrestling are better mate! I had to take my daughter along to watch the WWE a couple of times, as she loved it when she was younger. The acting was dreadful. It made some of the blatant swan dives in the Prem seem realistic.}

The last wrestling I watched Ed was Mick McManus v Jonny Kwango while waiting for the footie results :-) and all the old ladies hitting them with handbags.
Thats what football needs! Ashley Young's mum to run on the pitch and grab him by the ear and lead him off the pitch for a good thrashing then straight to bed with no tea

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that would be class! Though you would think by now someone would have noticed he has just got lost on his way to the local swimming baths...}

I bet if he finally got to the pool he'd put his head under the shower to get his hair wet then pretend he'd swam 30 lengths under water and want his Duke of Edinburgh gold award for doing so :-).

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - hey, don't knock it! That's how I got mine. Well actually I held someone else's head under the shower until they gave me their one, but it is almost the same thing....}

How dare you critisize wrestling, I was at the last Big Daddy v Giant Haystack fight, they were great! :-p

Agree0 Disagree0

The word fight is confusing me 337, explain!

Sorry Steve, it was a typo, I meant farse!

Hey guys. 'Chavs' fan here ;)

Was just wondering who you arsenal fans think is the best out of the following three

Di Maria
Sanchez
Hazard

I'm pretty sure if you ask on United page, they say di Maria, on chelsea page, all say hazard (apart from me lol), arsenal page you'll say Sanchez.

At the start of the season, I stated Sanchez was the best, and I still believe that. Sanchez is an absolute quality player, tell you what, you give us Sanchez, we"ll give you cech plus a pile of cash. ;)

Only joking, but would love to know your opinion

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi Aron like you say mate we all favour our own to some degree but if you give us Hazard we'll let you have Fabregas, can't say fairer than that mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez. .

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally think Di Maria is over rated. I like his work rate and moments of brilliance but he is too inconsistent. Sanchez has been a revelation this year and if he can keep up these levels of performance then hands down he is the best of these three. However I am big fan of Hazard and the fact he has been consistent in the EPL for the past few seasons now means he just edges it at the moment for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2014 13:37:48
Sanchez definitely. But Hazard is 2 years younger than him and I think Hazard is better now than Sanchez was at that age. But only slightly

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2014 13:52:02
Sanchez is better now, Di Maria was the best of the three. But soon Hazard will eclipse both of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

I suppose the fact that each teams supporters would pick their own player speaks volumes. That wouldn't be the case with a lot of other players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton fan di maria then Sanchez then hazard

Agree0 Disagree0

If I had to pick my prem team that would be my 3 behind costa or aguero depending on which ones hamstrings are ok lol

Di maria is world class he's left real to play with johny evans and smalling can't be easy. Theyv played in centre mid some games. Weird.

Right now though its sanchez hazard di maria.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the replies guys

Hazard is amazing, it just his finishing and scoring numbers that worry me

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Nov 2014 01:36:45
Aron,
Sanchez for me, but let's be honest, Di Maria and Hazard are top top players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad we've sorted this out, I'll be over to the MU page to ask there opinion lol

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Nov 2014 21:41:22
Sanchez easily the best. Di Maria is inconsistent and while he does some amazing stuff he also seems to squander attacks a lot imo. Hazard is ok, but I think he is more effective at winning free kicks and time wasting than doing anything with the ball. (I know that's a bit exaggerated, but he's a nasty little player playing for an even nastier little manager.)

Question for Ed002 if you're around mate. (not Arsenal-related but had no idea where to post this). If you have the time (and inclination), could you provide your take on the latest controversy regarding the 2018/2022 World Cup report? The German Football League president has warned that UEFA may quit FIFA over it. do you see this as a chance to accelerate (and perhaps even facilitate) the formation of the new pan-European breakaway league? (My apologies in advance - I realize you're not fond of speculation, but your opinions on this subject would be most welcomed). Cheers. --dk

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I could spend hours explaining my views, but in simple terms it is a shambles. Putting aside the trivial accusations thrown at The FA, the Australian FA, Korea and Japan, the fundamental issues surrounds the naivety that some people at FIFA were of the opinion that the summary report they have released will have cleared up the issues. Clearly it has not done so. The problem is that neither WC would end up being moved regardless of what the activity reported. It could have been handled much, much better and FIFA are still liable to on going legal issues with the USA and pending issues with the Australian FA. Putting aside the report, I would expect that we will soon see a push for an independent review of the operations of FIFA which may well result in a clear out of many of the senior staff.

UEFA will steer clear and the German FA representative is jumping the gun. And there is no relation to any changes the clubs are discussing.}

It would be great if people could believe in the organization that controlled the game but I'm not sure that is ever going to happen sadly, we're there's massive amounts of money there will always be doubts about honesty and integrity.
Maybe I'm just cynical and believe power and massive amounts of money corrupt all in the end no matter how good their intention to begin with ( even me :-) if I was in that position no matter how much I hope it wouldn't happen

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2014 07:27:38
Apparently we are interested in Cech. I would love to see him sign for Arsenal, but can't see Chelsea selling him to us. He is only 32 and I could see us getting 5 or so years out of him.
Other signings we should do everything to secure, would be Clyne, Nastasic, Mings, Khedira & Schneiderlin.

The following are on borrowed time: Monreal, Flamini, Arteta, Abu Diaby, Rosicky, Podolski (why keep in if Wenger won't play him), Campbell (same as Podolski, why keep him, if Wenger won't play him, Coquelin (on a permanent basis), Jenkinson (if a better right back is signed).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What would be your ideal team for next season Robbie, assuming we finish top 4? Keeping in line with the FFP rules and obviously realistic targets who would you bring in?

I'd be over the moon with the following:

Cech

Gibbs
Kos
Hummels (maybe I'm dreaming)
Debuchy

L. Bender
Ramsay
Ozil

Shaquiri
Sanchez
Chamberlain

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi VDG - Mine realistically would be:

Cech
Debauchy Merte Koscielny Gibbs
Schneiderlin Wilshere
Walcott Ozil Sanchez
Welbeck

back up:
Szczesny
Clyne Chambers Nastasic Mings
Ramsey Abu Diaby
Gnabry Cazorla Ox
Giroud

This would give us 2 teams capable of playing anyone.
We could sell/release: Ospina, Monreal, Flamini, Arteta, Podolski, Rosicky, Campbell, Coquelin & Jenkinson, to help fund the acquisitions & make space in the squad. Youngsters such as Bellerin, Martinez, Hadyen & Zelalem would make up the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2014 11:50:46
Why even bother putting Diaby in Robbie, there's 'dream teams' and then there are 'couldn't even possibly actuall happen teams' you've got more chance of Messi playing for us next year then Diaby getting any games.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2014 13:40:38
Cech would be a wonder signing on the level of Ozil/Sanchez. One of the very best in the world.

After that I'd want wanyama/kedihra

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2014 17:13:06
Think I'd prefer Wanyama tbh, should have got him before the saints did

Agree0 Disagree0

Who ever gets cech has a class goal keeper. If they would sell to us i'd sign him if not get begavic. Cech though I feel chelsea had no choice they have worlds best young keeper who could go on to be the best ever. So the choice wasnt easy but i'd of made the same one. I see a few goalies moving soon. Loris surely will leave prbs to real madrid

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2014 07:18:46
Great to see Wekbeck scoring two match winning goals for England. This will do his confidence the world of good. It will be interesting to see him play alongside Giroud.
However, I am more concerned about our defence. We desperately need Debuchy & Koscielny back. If we play Monreal at centre back against Man U, it spells disaster. There is no way Monreal & Mertesacker will be able to stop the likes of RVP, Rooney & Falcoa. I would definitely play Chambers alongside Mertseacker against United, with Gibbs at left back. Right back is hugely problematic, as Bellerin is clearly not ready for the first team. He lacks both defensively & offensively. The other option is to play Flamini at right back, which is far from ideal. I would then play Wilshere & Ramsey in the defensive midfield roles in front of the back four.
The midfield three would be Oxlade, Cazorla & Sanchez, with Welbeck up front.
Ox & Sanchez must double up with their respective full backs to provide cover. We should sit deep, to deny United's forwards the time & space they need. We should play a counter-attacking game, to expose united's frail defence.
If play Wenger's usual high line, attacking game, they will pick us off at the back & win.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think we should cash in on Cazorla in January or at the end of this season. As much as I love the guy I think we should get some cash for him before it's too late.

Also Welbeck was very impressive last night and I think we have got a potential gem in our ranks if he can remain consistent.

If you had to choose one from the following list as more important than the other during the success we have had over the past years, who would you choose?

Freddie or Pires?
Henry or Bergkamp?
Vieria or Petit?
Cole or Campbell?

Granted they are different types of players but ultimately play the same positions.

It's a toughy but for me I'd have to go with Freddie, Henry, Paddy V and Campbell!

Guys a few quick questions first of all I have just read an article from the Guardian about Usmananov. In it he claims that Arsenal are just an investment for him and he would rather pile his money into Russian sport. My question is if Stan Kroenke decided to sell up, would Usmananov still be interested?

I have also just seen from the same source that Atl Madrid's Koke is being paid £195k a week. Is that correct? Sure he's a fine player but he's only 22 years old and hasn't been around a long time. This would mean he gets paid a fair bit more than players like Mesut and Alexis.

VDG

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am not convinced that Usmanov would be any better than Kronke. Firstly, he has never stated that he would plough millions into the club. He simply stated that £100m should be made available for the manager to spend, not that he would provide it. Secondly, the FFP rules have put a brake on indiscriminate spending.
Thirdly, Kronke has been decent. He has allowed the club to run with little or no interference. The club is solvent, profitable & in great shape. The manager is allowed to run the club as he seems fit. We have started buying world class players in their prime, such as Sanchez & Ozil.
I fail to see what Usmanov will give us over Kronke and can't understand the criticism Kronke comes under.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hear what your sayung about Kroenke but I do believe he could have given and could still give more to our club. But I suppose we are still in top financial shape which considering the debt carried by many clubs in the current climate is a great thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Robbie here's what he said in August

"Obviously, if the club needs it [money], I am ready to consider various options. In my view, at present, the club has great prospects and it does not need additional investment.”

"I think that Arsenal’s planning was based on acquiring the new stadium, a decision taken by the previous owners,” Usmanov says. “The acquisition was financed with debt, which would be repaid through match-day revenues among other sources. There is another way of doing it: when shareholders buy all of the assets and contribute them to the club. As a result, these debt-free assets may generate income for the club. It is always up to the shareholders to choose which model to adopt."

“The board and main shareholders chose the debt option at the time, which led to Arsenal going almost 10 years without winning a domestic title or the Champions League. The first trophy only arrived in the 10th year. As a result of this choice, they were selling players and were unable to buy top players. These difficulties have now been overcome and the team is in a good state; the club’s finances are in order and I believe that Arséne Wenger and the club’s CEO [Ivan Gazidis] will manage them correctly.”

While he hasn't explicitly said how he would have done it or what money would have put in directly to the club, the reporter went into some complicated explanations of how it would have all been okay under FFP had he serviced the debt on the stadium which he wanted to do. And spoke at length the methods he would have used to free up funds for Wenger in the bad days. All still in FFP which he claims to support.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have never been convinced by Usmanov. He has always made it very clear that he only wants to spend now to make the team bigger in Asia so he can reap back the rewards later. I believe that losing home games so they can be played in other countries will come one step closer if he gets his hands on the club and subsequently gets a foot in the door of the FA.

He brought us Bergy who without the invincibles quite possibly would never have been.
