Well done to Ireland . Shame Scotland didn't make it . Would have been nice to have us all there.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Nov 2015 23:16:08
I don't think the Scots would have been so generous if they'd made it and we hadn't :-)
They'd have been partying from now until May no question.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 23:26:08
Makes you wonder though what odds would you have got at the start of qualifying for Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England to qualify.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 23:27:03
Scotland are going to party anyway :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 23:33:57
True Dags and let's face it they do out party as well as out sing and are far more passionately patriotic than us even if they can no longer out play us.
In truth every tournament is worse for not having the Tartan Army present.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 23:48:10
They are a colourful bunch G62 :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Nov 2015 06:49:17
Scotland will all be cheering England on, they are used to flogging a dead horse.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - yeah but knowing o,leary he will probably hike the prices up dags..

16 Nov 2015 22:27:21
Cheers ed let's hope we do better than our last euro showing! After the group we ended up with to qualify out of it couldn't be happier now give o neil a new contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 22:31:02
Ed,
That's no way to talk about David :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hes another con man dags.. :)

16 Nov 2015 22:32:36
Oh, you mean Michael O'Leary, lol.
Yep, make sure you go toilet before you get on the plane.

Spend a penny? More like a pound.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the last one of his planes i flew on..had an outside toilet dags.. :)

16 Nov 2015 23:33:41
Remember o Leary on irish tv calling pilots glorified taxi drivers what statement to make Id say they have to pay their fare when their working too. But some business man.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Flying a plane is not overly difficult - if it were there would be a great deal of accidents. I need to find the latest figures, but, when asked, I always used to quote more people dying in horse drawn vehicle accidents than in airplane accidents in 1992.}

16 Nov 2015 23:57:47
Ed,
Statistically, if you flew every day of your life, you would reach the ripe old age of 19,000 before you succumb to a plane crash.
Not sure how they worked it out (obviously an average) , but an amazing statistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats why i always sit at the rear of the plane dags...its a common fact that aeroplanes dont back into mountains mate.. :)

17 Nov 2015 00:10:46
Lol, you make a fair point Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Nov 2015 06:55:23
Thing is dags, there aren't many people who can test that theory to see if it is correct. Mind you harrison ford must be close to 19000.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Nov 2015 07:01:35
Ed I want to sit next to the black box next time I fly, it never seems to get damaged in a crash.

17 Nov 2015 09:10:28
Never trust statistics Steve, lol.

Just reading about usmanov and I didn't realise how rich that guy is he has 14.8 billion compared to abramhovich 9.1 billion. Why can't that kronkhe just sell up. Obviously making him plenty of money.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Nov 2015 22:17:22
Usmanov would be great for Arsenal if he was a shareholder.
He thinks the world of Wenger and would financially back him in the transfer market.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 23:37:30
He pumped 200mill into Facebook got back 2billion. Nice investment. The guys shadey as hell. But they all are. Hooe he comes in and gets me Kevin in a 100mill bid :)

I haven't got an agenda against these three, in fact I've loved Rosicky, want Wilshere to be a hero and admire Arteta for taking a pay cut to join us but did you know, that in the four full seasons since Mikel joined us, between the three of Jack, Tomas and Mikel they have played a total of 267 games, and scored 36 goals?
That is an average of 9 goals a season between them from 66 games per season for the three of them. Or to average the average, 3 goals each from 22 appearances per season. Not much of a return on what has to be the thick end of £200,000 per week salaries (or £10.5m per year) .
Their injury records are well known and documented but with a return like the above, we simply have to say goodbye to all three of them soonest. I know Wilshere COULD be brilliant. I know it's a risk letting him go. But the greater risk surely is keeping him?

Just saying.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Nov 2015 15:38:31
Nice balanced post certainly an issue more for Jack than the vets. If Rosicky was healthy I am sure he would have left long ago if not played regularly. Arteta was useful for a time on the pitch and in the room, now its just in the room.

But Jack, what to do with Jack? Cazorla/Ramsey and Ozil have him squeezed out and he is not healthy enough to push them out.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 17:55:37
We should always give a chance to players who have grown up in the club and are good enough to play for us, no matter what. Jack is one of that. I think he has a long way to go and if fit will play for us for years.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 18:55:10
If we can waste money and time on players like Bendtner and Diaby then keeping Jack is a no brainer

Xavi rates Jack as one of the best English players he's seen, I'm not arguing with him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - there is no doubting his ability 1404, but he needs to show more application, determination, spend more time on the pitch and basically grow up!, im not writing him off just yet but its getting very close..of course thats just my opinion mate..

16 Nov 2015 21:41:03
Rosicky and Arteta are really in the deep winter of their careers and they are not really contributing. Yes Rosicky has been a good servant but he has just had injury after injury over the last couple of seasons. Arteta we bought him about 3 years too late just way passed his best and he hampers our speed of play whenever he is played. I know it sounds harsh but we need to release them really as we can't get a re-sale value on them. Kind of like keeping your first car just out of memory and sentiment even though you know it continue to break down. Look how long we kept Diaby for, Wenger is just too loyal in this respect.

Jack is the main concern yes he is still youngish but this constant precession of injuries is a real concern. This needs deeper investigation it why this keeps happening. His running style is just odd to me as he runs very much on the outside of the feet and just looks so akward and must put stess on the ankles, not sure what can be done to adjust this. He likes to get stuck I but I think this needs to be tempered by playing him higher up the pitch. He is Arsenal through and through so it would be a heart break to sell him, but this constant injury situation has to stop.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 21:54:27
Ed, do you not reckon he showed some of that during his most recent spell before he got injured? I remember hearing an interview where he said he needed to add goals to his game, then he came back, got the goal of the season against West Brom and then a few days later he scored the best brace in an England shirt that I have seen in absolutely ages.

I like to think that he also grew up a bit and that he was less whiney but maybe that's not correct. All I know is that time on the pitch is all he needs to shut up some of his doubters.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - if he has matured a bit then no one would be happier than me for him TPG, i have always admired his talent but feel there is so much more he can give..lets hope we see a new side of him when he does come back mate..

16 Nov 2015 22:20:39
The big problem is Arsene won't buy anyone who might get in the way of Jacks progression which means the squad will always a quality player short 30 out of 38 games a season.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Nov 2015 09:03:31
It's honestly inconceivable letting him go. It would be a proper slap in the face of one of our own . The injurys shouldn't be held against him and he's a bit daft at times so what. Nothing gets on my nerves more than when you see a 18yr old player talking like there 50yr old diplomat on their first MOTD interview . The guy is class hasn't he got the goal of the season past 2 years. To be fair it's just people's opinions and I'm safe in the knowledge that he won't be going anywhere jack will stay for life. When he's fit he plays so he will be happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit bored as been made redundant, so it's either New Year Wish List or job searching.

My three (I'm not greedy) perfect presents would be:
Hakan Calhanoglu from Leverkeusen,
Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla &
Patrick Emerick Aubaymeyang. Oh and some shares in the company that produces the letters for Arsenal's shirts if these three come in!
By the same reasoning I'd have to sell Petr Cech and the report in The Star (it MUST be true then) that Messi would prefer us at £600k per week doesn't float my boat either.

I am being serious about those three players, nothing to do with the length of their names!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - good luck with your job search max..

16 Nov 2015 11:05:23
Grzegorz Krychowiak was available for 22mill last year. new deal and higher release clause now. we had our chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The "release clause" is of no consequence to Arsenal.}

16 Nov 2015 12:25:29
We won't pay there fee can't see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 13:46:12
£22m? Hardly the Kings Ransom it would have been seen as even three years ago is it?
£75m for the three, plus salaries of course, but we could let half a dozen go, maybe only claiming back £10m/£20m or so, but saving at least the salary of one if not two of the new boys in doing so. Flamini, Rosicky, Arteta, Campbell, Debuchy, Wilshere (just kidding. sort of) would save us surely £300k per week?
Bring back Wilkinson from loan to replace Debuchy, have Coquelin, Krychowiak and Beilik as defensive midfielders. Sorted.
Success, sadly, is proportionate to expenditure these days, by and large.
Palace, Southampton, Leicester and other smaller clubs like Spurs, may occasionally upset this equation for a period within a season, but look across Europe and in the EPL: the richer, bigger spending, higher paying clubs tend to dominate.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 15:40:30
Hi Ed - who do you think is more likely (or wanted? ) carvalho, Krychowiak or a third unnamed (typical Wenger under the radar player) as a potential DM pickup?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Carvalho if Arsenal are satisfied he has proven his fitness.

16 Nov 2015 16:57:22
Thanks ed! That works for me. Hopefully in January so we can concentrate elsewhere in the summer ;-) 0.

lassana diarra. sad news about his cousin.

always rated him highly and selling him was a massive error.

I hear Antoine Griezman's Sister was at the Bataclan, thankfully she survived.

ronaldo destined for psg i feel. thoughts? they will never replace his goals.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Nov 2015 10:37:38
They won't mind getting him off the wage bill though!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 11:07:23
prefect goal. we find a player out there now who will get us 326 goals in 315 games. would you pay his wages?

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 13:20:23
His goal return is good, but he's no Fernando Peyroteo.

In all seriousness, obviously Ronaldo is worth a lot of money and Real Madrid have that money but he is 30, his goal return is slowly declining (albeit slightly) and Madrid, as they have proved before, can dominate without his goals. I'm sure he is still worth an awful lot of money when it comes to his transfer fee so maybe it's not completely bizarre that RM may or may not want to sell.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Nov 2015 15:18:49
i can't see real madrid dominating or even winning the title this year. he will leave a bigger hole behind than many think. they struggled in the champs league to even get past the last 16 until he signed. love the guy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - me too derby, one of the best players i have ever seen mate, if he lost that selfish streak he would probably be my No1..but maybe thats what makes him the player he is..

16 Nov 2015 18:15:41
Best player in the world, bar none.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree dags..

16 Nov 2015 20:36:03
No offence but how people can watch what Messi does with a football and not see him as the best on the planet always amazes me.

I take nothing away from Ronaldo but to have the natural talent Messi does is truly something special.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hes a great player red dog and one of the 2 best players on the planet, its close but for me ronaldo shades it because messi has better quality around him and ronaldo has to create a lot of his own chances himself, but im sure lots wil lprefer messi...and i dont have a problem with that mate..

16 Nov 2015 23:39:46
Ronaldo has moved about and proved it in other leagues. So for me I'd take ahead of messi. I do think when they both go a massive hole will be left.

But watch them both at nearly 32years of age. Neither will be moving as good as arjen robben. His pace has not been lost.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Nov 2015 10:44:02
Messi is better to watch with a football. I'm not saying he's better but his natural technique is like an art whereas, for me, Ronaldo is someone who has worked hard his whole life to be as athletic and good a player as he is.

17 Nov 2015 12:01:44
