Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

16 Sep 2015 22:18:05
Nothing has changed going into Saturdays game, Chelsea have still had their wost start ever to a premier league season and we still have a lot to do to prove ourselves as genuine title contenders its all as it was.
If you'd asked most people before tonight to put a weeks wages on us winning at Chelsea you'd have got few takers despite the brave talk few would be that brave in reality.
Arsene needs to get his team mentally and tactically ready for a game that will set the trend for the rest of the season, if he can.

Despite our victory over Chelsea in Community Shield, I still think Mourinho has a voodoo over Arsene.

Come Saturday afternoon, we would have completed a fairly long journey to Croatia, whereas Chelsea had the luxury of a home match (no excuse).

We had a poor result compared to their comfortable 4-0 win. Their tails are up and they have a bit of confidence back.

I fear the worst.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 22:12:58
Can't say the result comes as a surprise to me, the second I saw the team sheet, I knew we were in for a tough night.

Once again Wenger shows a lack of respect towards teams that were touted to beat easily, he does this every time, and it backfires every time. His team selection and hs tactics will always hold us back. I down to ten men and he's still reluctant to change things until deep into the second half, it's beyond a joke!

I always worry with ospina, he's hot the best shot stopper and Whis lack of height will always be a liability. Wenger just have thought we were in the capital on cup starting him,

Debuchy was awful yet again. Can't believe hector didn't even travel.
Despite conceding two, our centre backs had a good game, Gabriel is an absolute monster!
Gibbs did ok, but again, this early into the season, Monreal didn't need to be rested.
Arteta and Santi were both pish poor. I'd have Rambo and le coq start over them any day.
Ozil had a crap first half, but was good to see him take responsibility and try to bag a goal in the second. Now he just needs to learn to stay onside.
Rare off day for the Ox, he'll bounce back quickly.
Sanchez was Sanchez, our best attacking player.
Giroud was Giroud, just utterly woeful, his hold up play was non existent, too weak for a lad his size, and his finishing... Don't get me started. He was hard done by for the first booking, but knowing he was on a yellow, the sevond foul was a joke. Hope Walcott starts over him for the rest of the season.

And what in the blue hell did Wenger ever see in Campbell?! He was almost as bad as Giroud.

Another embarrassing loss from another must win game, and the failt lies at the managers feet again.

Wenger MUST go! I only hope the results go that badly against that he resigns because he can't handle the stick. We know the board will never sack him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Sep 2015 23:48:44
Id take adebayor on a short term deal over giroud and I stick by that. But Cavani was the one if they said 50mil and we didn't pay it then we deserve nights like this I guess :(

Walcott has a run now to prove to Wenger he's the missing link uptop. Giroud will never be that guy so let's just give Walcott games when we can

CIG is this post a joke or for real?

yes it was a very poor result agaist a team we should not be losing to but to get on the wenger out train is ridiculous, you seem to no let player take any repsponsability.

your moaning that he played debuchy - France international right back
moaning that he played Gibbs, England international
Ospina was great for us last season and had some of the best stats in the prem league
Santi has been one of our best and most consistent performers but your moaning he was playing
people have been begging for the ox to start

all the player are to blame, no urgency and they let themselves down.

as for losing another must win game!! i didn't realise that after 1 away game in the champs league we were out if we did not win..

bad result yes, but don't be blind to the fact that those players should have been good enough to get a result over there.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 11:48:41
You obviously didn't read the entirety of my post.

I did say Gibbs did ok... Not moaning about him starting, but it was unnecessary to rest monreal... Our first choice right back.
Being an international right back has no reflection on current form, yes Debuchy is a top player, but his form has been way below par, being an international does nothing to argue against that.
I've never been a fan of Santo, he does a lot for us, but he gives the ball away far too frequently and far too cheaply, Rambo has the engine to offer us so much more than Santi from that position.
I'll agree that Ospina did do well, but he did have a lot of moments that show he can be a liability. If he was that good, then why did we buy Cech?

If you paid more attention, you'd know that I've been anti-Wenger for a good few years now. I'm not jumping on any train here.

Considering the group were in, we face an uphill struggle to reach the last 16 after a result like that, this should never be the case.

Yes the players were poor, but in these situations, it's up to the manager to make changes to rectify this. At 1-0 down and a man down any other manager would have changed things at half time. Even when were a man down Wenger has no plan B and a distinct inability to change tactics on the fly. He's past it and he's hold our club back, poor results like this can only be his fault. On the night, and in the grander scheme of things. It's Crystal clear

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 12:54:17
I get you point, and i am not saying that being an international has a reflection on form, however these are good player when on form and should have enough to get a result in this game, it a long season and a squad game, out of our next 5 games we will need to rotate and of those games this would have been the one that everybody would have thought we should be able to do that.

These player need game time to get their form so when they do come in they are not completely cold of game time.

I agree with you i prefer all the payer you mention in the position you mention but they are not going to play week in week out so at some point we need these players, and its for them to step up, which they did not do.

I did not mean you suddenly becoming anti wenger he divides opinion but i really don't think he should shoulder the responsibility for this game at all. not knocking your thoughts or opinions as we all want the same thing and that is for arsenal to win major trophies but for all the tactics and planning and selection wenger can not control the players attitudes on the night which was the real issue for losing last night.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 21:59:15
Pi*** poor performance today, every season arsenal have these games and now we choose to do it at the biggest stage, i have no idea why wenger left ramsey out although he isn't suited on the right he is a v good cl player and these kind off opponents he always scores against. Took it lightly made wholesale changes only when few were required, and i hate to say it but ozil carzola sanchez all poor.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

16 Sep 2015 22:26:51
I think Wenger was right to rest a few players tonight.

He can't play his strongest 11 tonight, fly back from Croatia and play the same 11 away to Chelsea, especially an early kick off.

Would rather lose tonight, we can recover, than lose against Chelsea.

Tonight he played Ospina, Debuchy, Kos, Gab, Sanchez, Ozil, Ox, Caz and Giroud, they should have been good enough to get a result.

But, as usual, we froze in Europe.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 00:50:43
Totally agree dags, tonight like other nights when we have failed, was nothing to do with the team sheet. If he'd played everyone tonight then lost on sat, people would have said, should have rotated on Wednesday. Its down to naivety, ability, knowledge and we ain't as good as we think we are.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 06:56:10
Dags, we could have rested some players, but there is no reason to rest Cech and we had to play Coqulein, as Arteta is woeful.
I understood rotating the full backs and we can bring Mertesacker back against Chelsea, to give one of the centre backs a rest.
Last night should have been:
Cech
Debuchy Gabriel Koscielny Gibbs
Coquelin Ramsey
Walcott Cazorla Sanchez
Giroud
We would have rested: Bellerin, Monreal, Mertesacker, Ozil and Ox (who often plays well against Chelsea)

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 07:11:11
He won't play giroud Walcott in same team I don't think he can't risk it now.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 07:53:47
RG69,
I think Wenger will continue to use Ospina in cup and CL games, and to be fair, he hasn't let us down in the past.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 10:11:16
Completely, for once, disagree with DG.
Playing top-of-the-range athletic games such as PL or CL football, twice in four days is not beyond human beings physically. I am sick to death of hearing about "tired" players, "crammed" schedules and "over-exposure". Get a flippin' grip!!
These players should be able to play on adrenilin and pride alone - forget fitness trainers, phsyio's, nutritionalists and £60k+ per week.

A pathetic show from our squad and a sub Ranieri performance from our below par (past it?) Manager.

I don't pay my £5 a month BT subs for this cr@p etc etc blah blah.....

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Sep 2015 21:55:46
Should have started with Walcott tonight giroud is usless hope he gets dropped for a few games now as punishment for his stupidity tonight Wenger should have done his subs at half time instead of waiting for us to go 2 down hope
we play with more intensity at chelski or we will get hammered as knowing chelski they will be well up for this game after seeing our collapse against on paper a weak Croatian team

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Sep 2015 22:34:11
Wenger is already paying the price for not getting that striker we need. Giroud has no real competition for is position as main central striker and this breeds complacency, he way off form. Walcott is fine out wide but he can't pay central effectively and with Wellbeck injuried this componds matters further.

Arteta is simply not good enough now for the first team and is way past his best. We needed Schederlian or similar really can't just rely n coq.

Wet took this game too likely and paid the price only really going for it when it was too late

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 21:49:31
Shocking.sanchez poor.carzola poor.dont want hear about ozil being world class shocking.arteta not good enuf for arsenal can't move.why??drop cech ...rest a goalie.arsenal in complacent yet again.players let down Wenger.walcott tried.,and took his goal well.shocking results.

To be honest I am worried about the league this season. Field the reserve players for the rest of the Champions league and Europa League. let's worry about it next season.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

16 Sep 2015 22:51:35
To me that makes a lot of sense, do one thing well rather than lots of things average.
We were never going to win this group second was always the realistic target and in that all is far from lost yet but if it doesn't work out we're only one round short of the usual achievement.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 21:44:23
Not seen game but listened on arsenal player. So can't eally comment on game. But let me say this to all you who think we are a top top team. Top teams don't keep giving head start to every team and competition like we do. We aren't usain bloody bolt. We can't keep coming from behind in games and leagues, this team are flawed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Sep 2015 21:42:39
Don't panic :-) its a bad day at the office by all but Sanchez, we can rip into individuals and list their faults but its an early kick off Saturday so there just isn't enough time to cover everyones awfulness.
Let's write it off and hope they'll be as good on Saturday as they was bad today.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

16 Sep 2015 21:48:46
I'm worried for Saturday mate.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 21:49:44
But we done the same against West Ham so that 2 games we have to write of this season we only played like 6 it's not a good ratio

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 08:59:48
so everyone in the league bar man city should be in panic mode as they have all had more than 2 shakey results?

loving this new 1 month league.. exciting.

Is Keown paid per word?

Coq needs to play it simple and we need to stay on side

Come on Theo - we need you now!

Warned people about arteta staying. He's awful. Don't see why people want him at the club. Never been good enough at top level

Believable2 Unbelievable0

16 Sep 2015 21:14:48
Apparently he's good in the dressing room but the question is what's he doing on the pitch in the first place if he makes such a lovely half time cuppa

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 21:36:57
I totally agrre Derby , Areta , Flamini and Rosicky will get danced around ...................Wenger is trying to get one last cheap year from them.

Next year all will have to go which will mean some money being spent.

Yet again we are exposed.......

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 21:42:59
Him on the pitch changes the who shape. Cazorla played deeper no link between mid and attack and completely over run. Giroud a complete armature it's like playing with one leg tied up. I know we can recover and get to the next round . But no winners in history get beat to Zagreb and go on and win the cup. Making up the numbers

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 21:47:12
Derby artetas legs were shot 18 months ago. This defeat is a lot more than arteta mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 21:52:16
Steve I state a lot of things on here and arteta iv been saying for ages anyone can quote me

We won the cup. Cech signed I was thinking wow striker and a mid

So he gives arteta a new deal I said its official Wenger will never win prem again or win us the champs league

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 22:05:48
Todays loss is not because arteta, there is no need to rip into him alone, the whole team was poor, all of us cried out for ox to start and he did today and was poor. I am not sure whom to point fingers at for thier first goal ox or debuchy, but i am sure arteta wasnt at fault for either goals

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 23:45:08
Mysti he was terrible. Shouldn't be at our club. We are better than that mate. I didn't say it was his fault at all please read the post

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 00:38:05
No your right mystifier it wasn't artetas fault. It was wenger for picking him.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 09:09:06
I blame Wiltshire for the loss, i mean he is injured and if he wasnt then he could have screamed at one of there players just as he was going to kick the ball last night putting him off, actually i blame Wenger he is on the treatment table in the first place, infact actually i blame Mourinho as he tried to buy the ox in the summer and i really think it affected his game tonight otherwise he would be ripped them apart like we were all thinking he would and begging Wenger to start him....

are we for real, it wasn't artetas fault, the team picked should have won that game, the players.. all the players let themselves and the fans down.

now let's hope we great a response like we usually do, get a result at the bridge, beat tott then win our next champ league game at home and we will all be smiling again.. well most of us, for some there is no hope.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 21:06:16
First English team to lose on this ground......another record in ther bag.

Let me say now, Wenger you are paying for your lack of ideas and options mate.

Dags ......I'm glad I didn't laugh with you at Chelsea mate, make no bones about this if we play like this on Saturday we will give Chelsea just the boost they need.

Watch Arsene moan about the kick off time on Saturday

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Sep 2015 21:21:32

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well what a shocking first half giroud has had a player of his experience mouthing off to the ref for stupid first yellow then to kick an opponent right in front of the ref is just brainless bring on Walcott to give Sanchez a hand ditch arteta he is crap

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Arteta has looked shot for years, but he looks like a pub player now.}

16 Sep 2015 20:41:22

Ozil should be in his element tonight. Croatia league, technical, not known to be physical and the champions league is more his style. Although i won't see it i'm at work. 2-0 is my prediction. I think giroud, arteta, deboucy, gibbs and ox should get a start tonight. that's half a team rested then.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jack won't be 24 until January so isn't a lost cause yet, I know he will have his heart set on getting back asap to make it into the England squad and of course play for Arsenal too but it might be worth saying forget this season and use the time to do what ever can be done to let him have a career at all.
Get some people who understand these things well to look at his game and help him adapt his style and whatever else can be done to give him a chance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Sep 2015 09:30:55
i think he needs to become a pirlo type player. hard to kill that instinct he has tho. top class player and a real shame :(

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 10:09:20
Not a bad shout that Derby he could excell in that position and end up with a flourishing career.
Le Coq should be his inspiration becuase as a regular MF player he was going no where but as a DM? If you forget about transfer fee's wages and hype that surrounds a players name what DM has performed better or even as well as Le Coq during the second half of last season and the beginning of this season?
Maybe for Jack as one door looks to be impassable for him another could swing wide open plus considering Pirlo is what 37? That change could give Jack an extended career to make up for the lost years too.

i feel for the guy gunner. remember seeing him the youth cup in what 06/07 and my god he was unreal. i think most clubs fans have a soft spot for him.

apparently he has had this injury two years? that's what some are saying. let's hope we get a win for him later. what's your prediction

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 15:43:00
Love the guy to bits but he will only ever be a bit part player for us.

Sorry, but too injury prone.
Blimey, even our own players injure him and keep him out of action for months.

Don't want to sell him or see him leave, but is 10 games a season worth the £100,000 per week outlay?

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Sep 2015 08:05:44
Don't really have much of an opinion on shaw, but he seemed to be getting better this season, and I must say I'm absolutely gutted for him. Hope he bounces back. Not all players are as fortunate as Ramsey after an injury like that
