if sagna doesn't re-sign and gibbs injury problems persist . imo we need to get two new full backs urgently.

biggest problem this year was during jan, feb, march and april we had all three (at least) driving midfielders out (ramsey, Wiltshire and Ozil. this meant that defence got ball and nowhere to go. back to goalie. high ball into stand. For the last three months all the opposition had to do was press high and we had no answers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There is an ideal candidate to share LB with Gibbs, unfortunately its Cashly Cole so a non starter.
But had he left for reasons similar circumstances to Cesc him covering Gibbo would have been brilliant,

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right g62. bit too much said to forgive easily. We do need to get some stability there it's cost us too many goals this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right it wouldn't go down well but for the good of the team if you had a squad where you could rotate Gibbs and Cole would you really say no. And also correct me if I'm wrong but it was the club who went back on an agreement with cole on a new contract that caused him to talk to Chelsea. Another contract balls up by the club likewise with RVP Flamini (when he first left) and now Sagna

Agree0 Disagree0

U may be right Rocky - I think other players had been in his ear to go for a huge contract. particularly one big one who ended up recruiting for a Manchester team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cole would want in excess of 100k a week. Not happening, he is past it.

A lot o f people saying they want Mandzucic in, others saying with bayerns wingers giroud would be just as good. Just occurred to me its not girouds quality that needs improving, its the option to rest him that needs to become improve. Mandzucic would do that. Is for that reason that I believe Mandzucic should be signed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mandzukic has no pace really. So for that reason, I would say no to him

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Saint is today the big 18 mate? Its gota be close

Agree0 Disagree0

We need someone with a bit of pace, someone who likes to poach goals. I personally wouldn't go for Mandzukic.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's got to be Hernandez for me! Experience in the prem and if the media are correct, the player's keen for a move away from utd.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a more dynamic striker than manzucic, he's a giroud clone. The prem is to quick for him. In my opinion he's not as good as dzeko.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it's got to be Costa or Balotelli. Costa has the pace, finishing and composure on the ball and is still lethal in the air and I still think Balotelli can become a world beater under the right manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand what the problem is with giroud, he's a Worldy who got tired because of a lack of back up. If we had him and another player like him, we'd have won the league this year. Let's not forget giroud has scored 20 goals this season. This is not to say I don't want balotelli, Costa etc. but at the same time I think we should not undervalue the importance of players like Mandzucic and giroud

Agree0 Disagree0

Next wednesday golds, what have you got me? ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Saint spoken with the maturity of someone older mate.
i think we should keep giroud and add someone
Saint how is your mum its been 18yr and 9 monthes since I seen her hope she is well, lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Its the amount of chances Giroud misses that bothers me the most (and his lack of professionalism), seems to be the only consistent part of his game.
Give Giroud and Podolski the same amount of chances over a season and I could only see one winner.and he wouldn't be French with a dodgy barnet

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is if Poldolski was up top instead of Giroud, neither he or the team would have many goals.
His finishing is top class his work rate is poor, one of the reasons we were top in the 1st half of the season was Giroud team performances

Agree0 Disagree0

Giroud lacks pace badly. He remind me of felliaini when he used to play upfront at evertone when he first arrived. back to goal all the time, no turn of pace to score a single handed effort and hasn't got the positional nouse to be the fox in the box type player. to often is he predictable and ineffective.

pace on the wings, someone like di maria, may help his cause though due to their pace and forward drive. RE: like when walcott was fit.

On average do the Arsenal defenders, say Kosicelny or Mertesacker, play more forward passes than Arteta in any single game? Can someone find the true stats maybe from West Ham United game as example?

Whilst Arteta's stats suggest he contributes a high level of passing in a single coupled with a high level of completion/success rate, the stats can be deceiving in that a lot of his passes are short (close to a team mate) and generally his passing is either sideways or backwards. I do not know what he contributes to the team, cannot chase, cannot tackle, cannot attack, cannot defend, only scores our penalties.

I think we should start some sort of vivd campaign to bring Di maria to the Emirates, He maybe available, and Arsenal do have some interest, if we make it vocal perhaps the manager will have in the back of his mind ( like an advert makes you buy crap - repetetive stuff) and perhaps even the players will feel like he wants to join a place where he is being wanted before he has joined.

Just think draxler will prove to be too expensive and inexperienced, and the worst bit is he turns out to be joining munich in the end.

Getting di maria gives us pace and width with an eye for goal.

Di Maria, Serge Aurier, Lars bender, Mandzukic and we can really do some serious damange.

Ozil got the wings to supply, we got ramsey and wilshere and not to forget the ox, walcott and gnabry. its optimistic if we can add some depth and quality.

everyone does not win every year and as bad as we have been, I think looking at barcelona is an example of how we are actually better off.

No selling poldi or arteta or no one, just add 4 players and let the freebies go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - How embarrassing will it be for the club and the players to have the Arsenal fans singing the name of another club's player. Astonishing stuff - you sound like a Liverpool fan.}

Leave it to the manager I am sure he has identified targets. And I hope he knows how much stick he will be getting if he does not sign a world class striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Di Maria should be our main priority this summer

I also agree w Ed that singing someone else's players name is a joke

Agree0 Disagree0

Gratuitous insults Ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - To be fair it's difficult to tell the difference between Arsenal and LFC fans this weather. It's as if you have merged into one big blob of homoerotic gloop.}

Couldn't agree more Ed007!

The love in with the L'pool fans makes me want to be sick. They are coming on here and wishing us the best for 4th place, it's horrific. Shows how far we've fallen when even L'pool are better than us!

The whole 'if we don't win it, I hope you do' is as equally horrific. You shouldn't want anyone to win it other than your team. And if you can't win it then you should be properly annoyed and not all this 'I hope you win it now.'

I agree that Stevie G deserves a medal for his footballing ability but it doesn't mean I want him to get it over us. I wonder how 'loyal' he was when he put in his transfer request.

If your team mucks it up, then that's that. Forget about the whole title race. Concentrate on the why your team mucked it up. It's just completely patronising when we've got fans coming on and wishing us the best for 4th place. The players celebrate like they are happy with it too.

Maybe if we, as fans, showed some proper rivalry towards our title rivals then it might transfer to the players and we wouldn't get absolute humiliated like we have been countless times in the past few years.

Support your team and screw everyone else.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - amen to that G95..

G95 - as an LFC fan I agree with your sentiments. If your own team is out of the title race why spend much time or effort on posting who you would prefer to win it. We finished 7th last season and deserved nothing more - its a different story this season but when I see Arsenal fans wishing us the best I just can't help but think that maybe there are a lot of AFC fans who don't really believe they can really compete whilst they have a manager who IMO doesn't have the hunger to win things that he used to have.

I know this may rile some AFC fans but why not create some heated debate rather than boring 'all the best' posts: IMO Arsenal are not making progress - if you win the fa cup you will have done so only because because you got home draws in every round along with some generous ref decisions. As soon as you have to play away (sorry neutral ground) you need penalties to beat a championship side.

I await some not so friendly banter!

Agree0 Disagree0

You'll get no stick from me Janman, we all have our own opinions and ways of doing things.
When I played (many moons ago) I always went to to the oppositions changing room after the game to thank them for the game and wish them the best for the season, it's my nature to be very competitive on the pitch but sporting win lose or draw once the game was over.
We all operate how we wish some positive some negative, some friendly some hostile, some share friendly banter some seek confrontation at every level.

We all have our own way of representing our self's and each to their own, respect is the key one way or the other

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I was once sent off by a ref who was using a Monopoly card for his red.}

Its a shame you didn't have a get out of jail free card handy 007, in today's game I'd have been suspended for most of the season as I was always on the line ready to give a pen away by saving the ball with my hand if the keeper missed it.in a SF once I did it 3 times and the ref gave 2 pens which they missed and the ref didn't see the 3rd, we won 2 1i had to leave the ground in my kit as the opposition wanted to lynch me, they still do probably :-) good memories

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm all for good sportsmanship, shaking hand before and after, etc) but the rest of the time I want no-one to win other than my team. And if we don't win then I don't care who wins it. I certainly won't be sucking up to some of our closet rivals hoping they win it.

Agree0 Disagree0

G95

Spot on with all your comments

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh boy this conversation again.

I'm from a family of 4, my mother and I support Kentucky sports, whereas my brother and dad support Louisville sports. Every year we are hostile towards each other come game day. But don't bet for a second that when kentucky is out I wouldn't root for Louisville. It's a combination of respect of the way they play and not wanting Duke/UNC/Michigan State to win.

There is a very contrasting situation. My brother supports chelsea, I support liverpool. And I HATE chelsea. They're boring, they go for 1-0 wins, and mourinho is a person.

So why do I congratulate Arsenal when they win? Two reasons. Their fans congratulate me when I do, and have been classy to us. Also, I really admire the way they play. I want successful teams to play the game the exciting way.

Dont be fooled. That win by Crystal Palace was like an extra 3 points for us yesterday. That was a stroke of unexpected luck believe me. I'm going to state the obvious here but we need to win all the games from now on in. Any draws will be inexcusable and a possible nail in our coffin as regards to 4th place and any hope of attracting some quality players in the summer transfer window. The Premiership game against Hull Saturday is not going to be any leg stretching excercise for Hull neither. I've got the feeling they are going to come out at us fired up. They are going to want to put the fear of God up us with the FA Cup Final around the corner. They know a bad performance by them Saturday will drag itself into the Cup Final and they will want to go into that match feeling confident. Amazingly enough this could well turn out to be one of our hardest battles because of the situation of meeting them on May 17th. We will need our wits about us. No! stand ins otherwise we may find ourselves in trouble. I hope not though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed. This could be a tricky match. Can't take anything for granted.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If we cannot win all our remaining games (inc West Ham at the time) we do not deserve to be in the top 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 points is of course desirable from last 4 games but I think 9 will be to much for Everton.
Sorry Ed025 no offence ment

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - none taken mate.. :)

Sound like a chelsea fan actually

Fabianski who is prob leaving at end of season or Szczesny to win a trophy and confidence for next season for the Cup Final fellow Gooners??

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Sczesny should play, if Fabianski is leaving anyway there is no point giving him the nod over sczesny.

it would be a good time to make amends for the blunder against birmingham.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me fab all day long. He has been a back up keeper all season and been very reliable when he came in. Shez for me is only no1 by number, not performances. It doesn't matter to me if he is going or not, any player could potentially be going in summer. I understand anyway, that it is an agreement that fab is the fa and league cup keeper this year and he performed great in a lot of games. No probs at all if he played.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabianski helped us to the final, let him keep his place.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shez does not deserve to take his place if anything I would have said maybe stick Fab in for the league games as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Fabianski deserves his place in the final.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes got to agree. It would be an outright liberty if Fabianski is not our keeper in the FA Cup final. He has well deserved his place. Actually this must be the first time that I can ever remember never worrying when we had to play our substitute goalkeeper. Not just in the cup games but in any game. I think that Fabianski has really stepped up to the plate this season. Whoever gets him will have a really good goalkeeper on their hands. He has probably become too good to be a backup keeper. I don't blame him if he went. Good luck to him.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it has to be shezza
if flappy has not signed we are not a charity

Ok Dags. This is for you mate. I've found a photo of Sanogos old football shirt with their sponsors name on it. It was uncanny. So I posted it on the Arsenal sightings. By the way "Told you " Didn't I? LOL.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Goldboy, I really don't understand why are you getting on Sanogo's back. I bet if he scored a few goals you'd eat your words.

Agree0 Disagree0

BGDGOONER. It's called Banter mate.! There is a bit if fun involved too. My post was like a little dig at myself also.
Do you really believe I wouldn't love for all our players to be the business? Of course I would. If you read previous posts you would have seen that I never said anything bad about Sanogo just that I thought he has been out in an awkward position. Anyhow I'm a bit fed up repeating it mate. It's just a bit of lighthearted fun between Dags and myself.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate, i'm going to change your name to naughty boy, lol.

As you said, it's all good fun, just a bit of harmless banter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags . I've been called a naughty boy before but never by a geezer. LOL
