Stevan jovetic has very similar style of play/ability to Louis Suarez.
We don't need the behaviour, just the ability of that kind of influential striker.

Newcastle will be as tough as a cup final if we let it be. They are very good with nothing to lose. If we play nervous or take our foot off the gas, they will take the match with no problem

Boys need 90 min more. It's been a heck of a run. They've played their socks off. Just one more

Can't say I'm not nervous, but I'm confident we will be ready to play. Hope Theo plays with that urgency early on again

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just one more. what a season. I am exhausted.
If we come out with the will to win we will be unstoppable.
Nerves yes but keep the belief.
We are gooners.
All you lucky people that are going to the game we expect to hear you singing loudly no matter what.

so we need a DM a cover RB and a 4th choice CB? Michael Essien anyone?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nice idea would give jenks chance to thrive and keep the cb pairing

Do you actually watched him recently? He used to be very very good one of the top DM's in the world but now he is not near that.

Anyone catch that clip of Sanogo's overhead goal against Brazil?

Great control off the chest, instinctive and skillfull finish.

Granted, we can't judge the boy based on one goal, but oh my what a goal.

The one he scored vs England was nice too have a look!

Saw an add for Sundays fixtures and it said our match 3 and spurs at 4 is that correct? I thought usually final day fixtures were all played at the same time? Any one know the answer?

I'll also just bring back to the top I posted just saying thanks for all the positive replies about my season tickets and that I will be constantly chanting except maybe on Tuesday night (we will be playing on Tuesday nights next season) when my voice may not be recovered from the weekend. {Ed027's Note - All at same time, 16.00

realistic signings for us this season will be: Ceasar, corchia, sanago, gonalons and Jovotic all good but Eds is there any truth in us re-signing Fabregas or getting Phil jagielka because if we could get them both and all the others I think we have a realistic chance of winning the title

suffolk Gooner {Ed027's Note - I really doubt Cesc, but if he leaves Barca i'd expect him back at Arsenal tbh, we've been interested in Jagielka in 2010 and 2011, we had bids of under 10m rejected, we never pursued our interest, should of signed him tbh, would of sorted our defencsive problems imo

If I should predict the summer transfer window it would be something like:

- Dusan Basta
- Ettienne Capoue
- Stefan Jovetic
- Yaya Sanogo
- A goal keeper

All we need and nothing more. Rooney, Cesc and Higuain will be too expencive.

On a serious reply, I guess it'll go back to Ashburton Grove if there's a gap, but I'm sure it won't come to that.
I work for Emirates here in Dubai and the company pride themselves on having football teams in London, Paris, Milan and shortly Madrid all covered in our name. At our headquarters at the airport there's huge posters of the stadium. sadly there's also pics of RVP around too

Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell could be our front line in a few years. Don't know about you guys but that doesn't sound too bad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Joel Campbell who scored 2 goals in 25 appearances for Betis?

Agree0 Disagree0

Most of the time came on as a substitute in last 10 of 15 mins and almost always played out of natural position. Mostly he played on the right flank. He is a CF and he is strong, powerful striker and should play upfront not on the flank. Plus he is young - 20 why old or something, there is time for him develop properly. just the facts.

On that logic we should just get rid of the ox aswell (apps 23 goals 1) this season don't read read into it too much joel campbell will be a beast!

Sanogo 'signing' is a bit of a worry.

First of all, Chamack was also a striker brought from france on a free, and he was the main signing to fill in at that position. De Ja Vu?

Second of all, what's the difference between Sanogo and Akpom? Surely 1 will marginalise the other, and if you had to choose 1, why not the player already AT the club?

Its incredibly unusual that Wenger has felt the urge to speak publically about a future signing. the fact he is young, free, and from france, is just boring.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would you have said all this about Anelka when we signed him?

This guy does look a bit special, had a double leg break which kept him out for a while but has returned looking strong, he has a bit of magic and can score some special goals.

Yaya Sonogo. This kid looks good, damn good.

I am expecting to see some top drawer signings this summer but, do not be disheartened people, that doesn't mean we ignore quality young talents like this.

I was disappointed to lose out on Zaha but this kid could prove better - at least very close if not - so I'd rather have saved the £15M to be honest.

Arsenal will not, can not, disappoint this summer.

Nor will we come Sunday!

Yaya Sanogo could be a good signing really highly rated young player, especially for France at youth levels. His contract expires at the season so will be very inexpensive we've been rumoured to be talking with him for a while. He is one for the future I doubt it will effect other business. So fans don't need to worry about him being first signing or what this means and just get behind team for Newcastle game.

Although this Yaya Sanogo kid looks talented, tall, strong and athletic I certainly hope he is only a replacement for Vela or Bendtner etc. Not a first team player. 9 goals in 19 games is impressive in Ligue 1 but really Wenger? According to the Beeb:
Arsenal are close to signing 20-year-old Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo. "It is in advanced stages but it is not done, " manager Arsene Wenger told Arsenal. com

i can't find it

but really wenger? 1st signing a 20 year old striker. way to send a message. : (

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This is actually a very good signing, the kid has a fantastic goalscoring record. Certainly worth a gamble, as long as we sign an experienced forward too! (which, as many have pointed out, is fairly likely given the imminent departures of Chamakh, Arshavin, Park and Bendtner)

Oleg Maputo

Agree0 Disagree0

This kid was not to be messed out on. He looks amazing and it is only being reported as he is out of contract and therefore able to talk to us about a deal.
Keep the faith, I'm sure the big names we all want to see will start happening once the window officially opens

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats wrong with that?! A 20 year old striker who has a decent record albeit in a small league for a compensation fee. That is a certain profit if he turns out to be bad or an excellent signing if he becomes the next Drogba or something. Why would anyone turn down a free 20 year old?

Agree0 Disagree0

Just looked at his record.

scored 18 in 18 for french U16
9 in 16 for U17
10 in 19 for auxerre

He can't be too bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Has potential to be special, I watch a bit of french football ligue 2 included, shows instinct far more advanced then other 20 year olds. my worry is he is injury prone.

it is obvious we need to clear the rotting deadwood that are clogging up our wage structure, we won't buy big until wenger has balanced the books.
whilst bringing in quality youngsters next season into the first team squad like aneke eisfeld gnabry we also need to buy quality, the years of pulling the wool over us has run its course and we the fans demand a proper transfer window for next season.
sundays game will determine how big we spend, everything will be crossed for those 3 points. COME ON YOU GUNNERS.
me personally I would buy
cesar, richards, capoue/wanayama, higuan, and rooney if available and willing to drop his wages.

cesar would help szecs leaps and bounds and because of his age could hand over the reigns to szecs in a couple of years
lately our defence has been our strong point so we do not need to dramatically change it. sagna will leave and richards would be ideal replacement, his bursting runs is something that we lack (although jenko does a good job) and the main thing is he can cover centre half without the quality dropping. everywhere else is fine in defence but if verm leaves then we will need another centre back.
in midfield capoue/wanayma is what we are missing, our achilles heel is our defensive mid, arteta is too slow and gives away silly fouls, ramsey has re established himself and is getting his mojo back, he could form a good partnership with capoue or wanayma. capoue can also cover as cente half.
our attacking midfield imo is sorted with jack santi ox rosicky we have enough quality there along with a few youngsters being promoted.
upfront we have theo giroud and podolski who can cause damage. but we lack an out and out goal poacher - higuan would be ideal, he is better than jovetic - rooney would be a bonus he needs a new start and if he is willing to drop his wages I think he would be a sensation at arsenal with the football we play.

squad next season
CESAR szecs
RICHARDS jenko
gibbs monreal
kosci merti verm
CAPOUE/WANYAMA ramsey arteta aneke
santi jack ox rosicky eisfeld gnabry
HIGUAN ROONEY giroud podolski theo

imo quality throughout a strong squad that can play a variety of formations.

You are living in la-la land mate.

All of that will not happen.

If Fabianski leaves, we will probably sign one that doesn't ahve an 80k wage attached to him.

A RB is entirely possible, and I would love Micah richards, but it is a stretch.

As for Higuain and rooney. These are simply not happening. I think chelsea would be the only premiership team with any realistic chance of getting rooney, and Higuain is most likely going to Juventus.

Sorry to burst the bubble.

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sure the point is those are exactly the players we will get I think its more the general gist and level of players we need. We could get all those apart from Rooney or Higuain who we can afford but not sure they will come. We might get one or two of similar standard (Jovetic not quite as good but up there)

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the Premier League club are in 'advanced' talks over Auxerre starlet Yaya Sanogo.

Nerver heard of this player or what he is like?

Is this one of the big signings Arsenal Fans are expecting?

He is a striker.

Looks like Mr Wenger is building for next season all ready, is this plan B just in case it goes very wrong this Sunday at Newcastle!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

17 May 2013 10:42:21
So the rooney news seems to be (either true or false)

He wants out = Arsenal are monitoring the situation.

If he had a choice of staying in the premier league, he ends up going to chelsea and playing with his bestest bud in the whole wide world. Ashley cole.

Also literally and figuratively that team would be beyond doubt CHAVSKI.

Now what if we do have an option? what if the departures or sales of (fingers crossed) Squillachi, Mannone, Fabianski, Sagna, Bendtner, chamakh, Denilson, Arshavin, Coquelin,

thats roughly 420k a week of salary off the books, or £20 mill in salary off the books.

we have been linked with a free transfer for some U-21 french striker.

Considering we keep our core. add a striker either Jovetic or Rooney or higuain. whichever 1, as I honestly don't see more than one striker coming in.

get a RB, a CDM, and a GK and we are ready to roll.

adding rooney will mean we add another player like Ox and wilshere, just pure bullish freak.

its is understated the amount of money arsenal will have at their disposal, with soo many players due to leave. possibly gervinho also to leave. he's not featured for awhile.

Well done to wenger for keeping us competitive with a lesser squad. they have raised their game and it can only get better. Now let's hope we can beat newcastle and go on to have a good summer of speculation.

good to see bayern kill of gotze rumours. could not do another year of that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wow already thanking wenger b4 he even makes a signing? U won't get rooney, u wouldn't pay his wages or transfer fee!
All this money u supposedly have (which is wrong) will go on more unproven talent from the french league and maybe a Spanish player!
Come on laker u have supposedly had money every year and u dnt spend it even when u were a lot closer to the big clubs ;-)
If I was u i'd probably wait till September the 1st before declareing wenger to be a genius.
How has wenger kept u competitive? 5 years ago u were competing at the top and now ure scratching around on the last day against spurs! unfortunately mate wenger is against the idea of spending big money like city and chelsea which according to u is the right way and deserves respect. I hope u get rooney but I sense a smoke screen for another player!

Before people start moaning. Sangogo is a player with bags of potential and highly rated!

He is also typical Wenger youth-punt, which at 400-500k (est. value), we should all be fine with.

This is no way means he isn't after a class striker.

I did not say Williams is terrible, and players like dyer and michu play for Swansea, and they ate good, I would just prfer Richards

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What did Dyer and Michu eat to make you say they ate good? Are you there when they partake of thier repast? Or do Swansea have a page on their websilte where the dietary details of their players are published?

CECEGUaW

Agree0 Disagree0

I get that, but you said Williams is not Arsenal quality but Richards is.

Richards is not that good, he's injury prone, he naughty off the pitch and he has a lot of growing up top do.

If you'd have said I prefer Richards over Williams then I wouldn't have said nothing as that's your opinion, but to say Williams isn't good enough but Richards is, is just a stupid statement as Richard has no where proved himself, whereas Williams has at least been consistent and been a driving force to why Swansea have established themselves with this league

Daily mail saying arsenal are in discussions about Rooney

Kent Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They are saying that the 'Arsenal' board have discussed the possibility, not that we have contacted the club or player.

However, I for one would love Rooney at Arsenal but not at £200k+ plus per week. This would cause friction with other players and is probably the reason they want to sell him as he is now not considered an automatic starter for them.

It seems very likely that Jovetic will join arsenal this summer with quite a lot of money going to Italy.

While I do agree on signing a new forward I'm not convinced that Jovetic is the right answer.

He doesn't score a lot of goals, and he isn't strong enough to hold up balls against Prl. teams.

What are your opinion of him? Am I underrestimating him, or should Arsenal look elsewhere (Lewandowski (allthough he propely won't join us) or Higuain?)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am of the same opinion that Jovetic may be overrated, we can have benteke in lesser money. Lewandowski was once suggesting himself he wants to join us, I do not know what happened then : (
will love Higuain and Benteke/Lewandowski!

SM

Agree0 Disagree0

Good player but he does seem another that is more of a creater playing in a deeper lying role as opposed to an out and out goalscorer.

Wenger loves his creative small tecnical players too much. I am Not saying he would not turn out be good player for us but for me we should focus of other types of players and areas first. Strong Physical atheltic DM (Diaby has had his chance but can never be relied on for fitness) a experianced right back if Sagna leaves and a proper out wide winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where do you gat all this rubbish from 'wenger loves all the small technical players'. Viera Petit, Pires, Anelka, Henry, KAnu, Giroud, These are all great big blokes, all over 6ft and all with plenty of muscle- In the midfield areas smaller players can weave their magic- but Wenger is always happy to get a big 'un in. if he's good enough!

I was reading something about Bayern doing a massive clear out when Pep takes over.

Why not bring in Schweinsteiger?

Quality, proven, sure he might cost a lot but it's about time we spent the big bucks for the best players.

In addition, I would also take Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona. We need a good winger, our wing play is horrible. Teams know how to play against us. We got shut down a few weeks ago against Everton because they pushed us wide and didn't let us play our corridor game. He is a quality player who isn't getting time at Barca and if we offered the right amount he would be ours.

Also, I would not take Jovetic. Sure he is better than nothing and would be pretty good, but I've had enough of that typical 'pretty good, has potential' type players we seem to have. We need someone like Higuain or Mario Gomez, a proven goal poacher. In contrast though, I would take Benteke any day. He is an absolute beast who supports Arsenal and has proven that he can score against the big clubs, I think he would flourish at a club like Arsenal.

Anyway, that's all for now, because if we keep this defence I think we are fine to be honest.

Nick.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

When bayern do their clear out. it won't be Schweinsteiger. who is their hometown legend.

it will be robben, mario gomez, and so on and so forth. selfish players or players who don't fit the mould.

pep will change things at the drop of a hat. he is not afraid of change. considering he is the guy who bought ibrahimovic for ridiculous money, and after a year sold him for peanuts. and still won the champions league.

Agree0 Disagree0

I highly doubt Schweinsteiger will be part of that clear out. More like Gomez, Robben, Pizzaro being replaced by Goetze, Lewandowski, Suarez for example.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why on earth would Schweinsteiger leave Bayern for Arsenal? They play fantastic football and outplayed Barca 7-0 in chl. He'll never come.

Gomes on the other hand isn't happy in bayern and maybe, just maybe, will leave for england. I would be wuite happy with him joining us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not take you as a coach!

Agree0 Disagree0

A massive clear out, doesn't mean everyone. It means the players that suck.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gomez is a weird one. He looks really quite bad for 95% of a match but seems to score a lot of goals. He's like the opposite of Giroud, as I think Giroud gets involved in a lot of play but doesn't seem to get that many games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal will not spend the big bucks on over paid stars. gomez would be nice though, I bought him in fifa too lol.
