Hi guys, id just like to say first, thanks to everyone who gave me a very nice round of support from my last post. I have had a tuogh time with my son, who is progressing well from a serious and worrying illness and the state of mind I was in, if id posted, I could of easily said something I would have regretted. I have been dropping in and reading and would like to wish ctr and derby all the best in a similar way to me, I think they may read but will come back when suitable. I will be putting my views in, in the coming months and eventually back to my moaning best. Thanks again guys, catch you in the next week.

Yes please.

To be fair second would have flattered us over the season but to finish behind David De Gea would have been awful, Hazard has been fantastic this season but I don't think he could have finished top 4 on his own like De Gea has.

Our head to heads against the big boys worries me.

Man Utd L D

Chelsea L D

Man City W D.

One win in 6 is not very good.

I don't know we've had worse seasons againgst the big boys Dagala and lots and lots of them

Dags,

To be fair:

Chelsea L D

United 1 W 1 D 1 L (you have to include the FA Cup fixture, they wanted to win, we wanted to win - it counts).

Man City W D

Liverpool W D

Tottenham D L

Southampton W L (L* - I am being picky but the Carling Cup is not taken seriously by Arsenal so I am giving Swansea a 1/2 here)

Swansea L L

I am more concerned with our record against the Swans, Southampton, and Tottenham than against the other members of the top 4 and, of course, our annual loss at Stoke.

We were out of this race because of our terrible start and road form early in the season not by the big games...

Hopefully, we sign a few players and without CL Qualifiers and without International Commitments we can push on and put on a title challenge.

James and G62,

You make fair points, but seeing as this is possibly the best season we have had in years (league wise) and we have, arguably our strongest/best squad since the days of the 'Invincables', we have still only won 1 in 6 against our main 'rivals'.

I'm sure this compares unfavourably against Chelsea's record against top 4 rivals.

17 May 2015 22:35:17
Best season in years? Omg I hope we continue to improve I don't think I could stand having this mentality for my club.

You know u and spurs have a lot more in common than u would wish to believe.

Dags we were pretty awful 2014 mate but 2015 we've been excellent, if you look at our results in those periods against city utd and chelsea then it reflects our season of two half's.
We either have a good autumn/early winter or a good late winter/spring, we need to become a team for all seasons.
Best squad sine invincibles? Potentially yes but we need to prove it over a season and be honest with ourselves over the summer, no need to be completely ruthless but we must be honest about where we are still not 100% ready for a title challenge.

18 May 2015 00:08:03
Chris,

Never compare us to Spurs or you will be banned from this page, lol.

G62, agree but 1 win in 6 is still below standard mate.

Let me put it this way.

Chelsea -- City -- 2 Draws
Chelsea -- Arsenal -- 1W 1D
Chelsea -- Utd -- 1W, 1D === 2 wins

City -- Chelsea -- 2 Draws.
City -- Arsenal -- 1D 1L
City -- Utd -- 1W 1L == 1 win.

Arsenal we know -- 1 Win.

Utd -- Chelsea -- 1L, 1D
Utd -- City -- 1L, 1W
Utd -- Arsenal -- 1W, 1D -- 2wins.

How do you see this as much as a difference with just 1 extra win for Utd and chelsea, its just 3 points end of the day. We have fallen of the title because of our early season form, Losses to Swans, SH, Stoke, Spurs, draw to Hull, Spurs, draw to Liverpool when we were wining, draw to city when we were winning. These are the games that have costed us the title, not against t the top 4. We have done better than last season, which was all away games LLLL, concceding some 15 goals.

Quite possibly one of the most inferior Manu teams I remember and they are making our boys look very ordinary

People say we have one of the best midfields in the prem and on our day this is evident. Today however we're losing battles all over the pitch and our midfield is exceptionally poor. Misplaced passes, no pressing, no keeping possession, no inventiveness and no drive.

Still, I hope that changes in the second half

4th place trophy is on display today and we seem to be drawn to it like moths to a flame, it ain't over till the fat lady sings I know but she's humming rather loudly at the moment.

Petr Cech looks like he has lots of options to chose from this summer and there's a very good reason for that, we must make sure we are his best option of all.
Location gives us ahead start on our rivals let's make it count and get the man who will make a big difference for someone next season and make sure its us.

25m over 3 years for no resale value and an ageing keeper. Is he really the way forward.

If he was Arsenal quality - he would be between the sticks at Chelsea

We have limited funds - is he the best return for us or should we spend MORE on someone better with a resale value

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont think he would cost that much SY, hes one of the top4 keepers in the prem for me mate, its just unfortunate that chelsea have 2 of them..

17 May 2015 11:25:31
Sorry - 10m plus 5m pa wages

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - all players have to be paid SY..

17 May 2015 11:36:06
Sy, he's a player that would improve us greatly so I'd be happy if we signed him.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2015 11:36:54
As Ed says SY chelsea have two of the best around and its only age that has decided Cech not being their number one.
Am I happy with Monreal yes but would I take Baines given the chance? Yes please
Gabriel yup I like him but if we could get Kompany we'd be mad to say no
And so on, when the very best become available you've got to be interested if you ever want to be the best you can be.
Ospina is a good keeper but Cech is a very very good keeper simple as that and resale value? What are we skint or something? Balancing the books is important of course be being the richest team in the Europa league isn't my idea of fun.
We are lucky enough to have the capability and should use it to be all we can be next season and beyond not some day never

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i agree with all of that G62...good post mate..

17 May 2015 13:55:51
Why you thinking of resale value! Madness. We are not a selling club resale value shouldn't come into it. He would improved our squad. So let's try and get him. It baffles me why so many people debate this lol

Peter Cech... Fantastic keeper. Will he improve our team? Definitely. Will he make our title chase any stronger next season? I don't think so. It's not like Ospina has been having howler after howler. I would rather we reinforce DMF and striker positions. Those two positions are more critical. Ospina is good enough to be a title winning keeper. It is the striking that has me filled with worry.

Spent the morning reading and watching youtube videos about Nabil Fekir. It's interesting where Wenger sees him playing. Surely not at attacking midfield as we have Özil, Cazorla and even Wilshere. Maybe as a winger at first but Wener loves to convert these kinds of players to strikers, right?

Another thought occurred to me when I read about PSG's interest in Cech. Could that make Salvatore Sirigu available? I think he's brilliant and in my opinion we should be monitoring his situation as well.

By the way, while doing my research on Fekir I stumbled upon the fact Yoann Gourcuff is out of contract this summer. Not suggesting we sign him. But what happened to him? Phenomenal player at his best.
