Chelsea have a massive say in the outcome of the trophy Gunner. have Leicester hit a blip? How long ban will Vardy get?

Dags I'm hoping that feeling you have is that we're NOT going to win the League,! or at worst finish above you lot?

Believable1 Unbelievable9

18 Apr 2016 22:38:06
NES,
Trust me matey, Leicester will cross the line in next 2/ 3 games and we have to let you finish above us just once mate, just to make you feel you are a big club :-)

Agree4 Disagree1

18 Apr 2016 22:47:40
Don't agree Dags. your a top bloke, but your clearly no mystic meg. ;-)

But your hoping they do win and should they rants your saving grace. but hey ho. What will be will be. Just enjoy that your enjoying us not apparently winning the league!

Kinda makes it all a joke?

The big question is, WHO IS THE JOKE ON THIS SEASON? Aye aye mucka.

And WHO ARE YEA!

Agree0 Disagree7

{Ed025's Note - whooooa back N/E, you are an excellent team...but won nothing yet mate...you dont get a trophy for finishing above arsenal..

18 Apr 2016 22:56:40
Yes we do Eds. The NLT. ;-)

And we've also won the European cup! Unlike our noisy neighbours.

Agree0 Disagree7

{Ed025's Note - you won a cup winners cup and UEFA cup mate..not THE european cup..

18 Apr 2016 22:59:47
NES,
Of course I want Leicester to win the league.
I wouldn't class myself an Arsenal supporter if I wanted Spurs to win.

As Ed rightly said, you have been excellent this season, the table and stats don't lie.

As I said to you boys on Spurs live feed tonight, you lot were terrific, but Leicester will hold on to win.

Spurs in my opinion will run out of games this season but be stronger next time round.

NE, Ed Poch has done a fantastic job and Spurs are an excellent side but Leicester have the points in the bag and 5 pionts is a lot to make up in just 4 games, and yes I definitely want Leicester win it, sorry NE but I'm sure you understand and would feel the same way mate :-) .
But if Leicester do slip up and you catch them I will definitely man up and congratulate you mate no problem with that at all.

18 Apr 2016 19:14:56
Eds, banter please. The possession game no longer is working for anyone, except maybe for Bayern n Barca, and even they r struggling. The sooner we realize this and adapt the better. Teams are going to sit deep and wait for a mistake. This is how teams r closing the gap with the top 4. It's how well you play without the ball, minimizing the mistakes. I didn't watch the whole game yesterday, but did watch the last 30 mins or so, I feel we should've sat back after the first goal and let palace have the ball, and let them try to create a goal and pick them off. Why take risks going for a 2nd and leave gaps. There was no way into the palace defense yesterday unless they came out and attacked or we had a messi, robben, or Douglas Costa like players who can go past 1 or 2 defenders regularly or even clinical finishers like Lewendowski or Suarez. This possession football will not always work with the team we have. Leicester and Atletico are now masters at sitting back and picking off teams who make mistakes and more teams will follow the trend. We should be more flexible and try such tactics as well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Apr 2016 19:46:57
The possession works if it's the best players we have seen at it. But they have moved on or got older. Pace power. Has returned.

18 Apr 2016 20:09:40
The way I see is mate the champions league is obviously the most prestigious and financially beneficial competition to be in but we've desperately struggled to make any sort of impact once past the group stages and while the Europa league is far from easy to win its deffinately one we might do better in if it comes to that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - but spursday night football comes with its own problems mate..like lots of sunday and monday matches..

18 Apr 2016 20:45:33

Good point Dags bit I'm not sure a handful of CL games will be enough to make up their minds either way, I will be extremely delighted if both stay but I think come August we might well be short of one or both of them regardless of CL or EL.
They are both top players and at 27 at their peak and I'm not sure 4th or even 3rd place and CL last 16 is where they think their level is, time will tell I guess but they will both have some very good offers this summer that's for sure.

Absolutely obscene, shocking and showing how much money is wasted on poor foresight. About 800000 a week or 2.4 mil a month or 27 mil a year on players not giving the team hardly anything. Who decides all this? Ok flamini mert and giroud have played a part, whatever your opinion but what a big black hole. And wenger is supposed to be a mathematical genius. Obviously got nothing to do with him, giving all these players improved contracts in previous two seasons. Oh and wenger on more money than the managers above him, so not getting good value there either.

Hi Eds,

Long-time user/ fan of this site.

Firstly, I just want to say thank you for your time and for keeping this site running for so many years. We all have our "day jobs", so I am appreciative of the time you guys are taking out.

Taking a step back, I can definitely see why there is so much frustration in the room, and was thinking about what might to get all of us "back on track".

I think back to how I first joined this forum, in which I would write long-winded rants (rarely making a point) , and based on that users would respond (including eds) . The setup wasn't a "fire side chat with ED002".

I would like to propose we revisit this format. Where we have non-ed contributors (people willing to write articles/ posts) and a seperate status for users who only want to make comments.

Not sure about feasibility, but perhaps that would allow us to share the load?

Either way, thanks again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - we do have the football-news-views site where people can write articles etc if they wish. A number of posters on Liverpool and Man Utd sites do so when they feel like getting something off their chest like that. Would something like that work for you?}

18 Apr 2016 14:49:23
Suits me, don't know how the rest of the community feels about it.

{Ed001's Note - if you are interested in writing for it, just send us your contact email through the contact form (I think it is at the bottom of the page, though I have asked Ed033 to put the link at the top as well so there might be one there). Ed033 will set you up with all you need then. We only need things like the name you want to sign off your articles with, in case anyone likes what you write and wants to offer you work, we need to know which of you they mean!}

I'm reading a lot of posts on here about Champions league!
We just ain't good enough! Pure and simple . Ok it's good for a bit of revenue but in the main Arsenal are just making up the numbers.
Nobody fears Arsenal turning up anymore those days are gone and have been for a few years now .
There is no sustance or unfortunately world leading quality in our team, Its gone boys! .
It's going to take at least 2 years before we can pick up again whether we have a new manager or not and that's also depending on whether we can attract the players that we so desperately need and that also depending on if they want to play for Arsenal.
Let's face it we are not the force we use to be.

Believable1 Unbelievable9

18 Apr 2016 08:53:52

I was at the game yesterday apart from it was virtually a sit where you want game with empty seats dotted all around the stadium and you can understand why.
The season is coming to an end, we have nothing to play for and are lethargic to say the least. Best player on the pitch in my opinion is Elneny. Very safe and solid player. Probably will turn out to be a gem.
sat with an old friend that that has probably never missed a home game for 40 years and he said " it tell you what. This is probably the first time that I could say that Arsenal has to clear out about 75 percent of its squad ". I have to agree .
A rumoured budget of 75 million in today's climate just isn't going to break us into where we need to be whatsoever.
I believe Walcott has had his chances and unfortunately has now failed miserably to be any sort of threat from any position. Giroud is too slow and not up to the standard of a club like Arsenal, Ramsey, I wish I could say ' Super Sub ' but! He does absolutely nothing for me and so on. That's without mentioning the rest of them that are sitting in the treatment room with constant injuries and still getting paid year after year. Now! If we were talking about a budget of £200 m
Now! we may have something to cook with.
(Please don't mention United with their big budget and dud absolutely nothing on the pitch it's not the same scenario. )
75 million is going to buy what?
A half sensible striker and a couple of mediocre midfield players! Then what?
They get injured and we are down to the bare bones again.
What we need is back up in the squad but at the moment we haven't got any quality back up at all.

I'd say much like Leicester NESpud. Enjoy your season. As next you won't be near top 4. A revamped Chelsea, City, Gunners, L'Pool and possibly Utd. Your lot ain't getting a sniff. Not saying this year you don't deserve where you are just that next your squad which is just above average IMHO, and with the stadium you will struggle.

So now we are having our usual battle for 4th place, with Man U and Liverpool catching us fast. We must win our remaining home matches and avoid defeat in our away matches.
What concerns me is that we have huge amounts of possession and many shots on goals, without success, whilst we concede soft goals. Perhaps we should abandon our current formation and go back to the fluid 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 formations that Wenger had so much success with. In addition, the days of smaller tippy tappy players appears to be over and many teams are having success with big, strong athletic players, much as we did in Wenger's more successfully seasons.
Against WBA;
Cech
Bellerin Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs
Walcott Elneny Coquelin Sanchez
Ozil (no 10 role) Giroud.
