Balotelli suspended for the Arsenal match. I'll take that, it can't do us any harm.

Good, I was worried he would finally find his shooting boots against us!

So, there's nothing on telli Sunday than?

Did you see what I did there?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sadly I did dags :-p

Agree0 Disagree0

Gutted they may actually play sterling uptop now and let him run at merts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats what I'd do Derby if I was them, Gerard and Henderson feeding ball in behind Merts for Stirling to run on to would cuase us big problems.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hopefully they will be too busy defending to feed him G62..

Hope so Ed, but I'd think about giving Merts some insurance just in case, we can't rely on the fact just because its such an obvious thing to do Rogers deffinately won't think of it

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hes to busy banging his secretary to worry about tactics G62.. :)

If we if ever there was a lucky manger its him Ed no question, he inherited Martinez's good work at Swansea and last season Mr nibbles had his own agenda that just so happened to be on Rogers watch.
The blokes a delusional no hoper who got lucky

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - lets hope he signs for life then G62..

they are very slowly dwindling mate.

The TV companies are holding all the aces.

Agree0 Disagree0

The rarer something is the more value it holds and a glut of anything eventually forces its value to crash

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe fans should be able to see all Premiership matches live on TV, irrelevant of the kick off time. I get extremely frustrated when we are playing away and we are not on TV.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - even though it is killing lower league football as they no longer get the fans whose team are away, or they are just unable to get tickets for them, because now they can just watch it on tv or a dodgy feed?}

Take away the foundations and eventually the whole thing will calaspse.
With no Lower league Southampton there's no Walcott Ox and Chambers .
The money people don't care about the game's future they will just move on when its gone

Exactly G62,

Football is like a pyramid, with the lower teams being the base of it, but without that base, there will be no pyramid.

(What a stupid reply by me, going to post it anyway) :-)

Just watched some clips of this Martin Odeegard, what a player he looks! Obviously youtube can make Heskey look like a prestigious talent, but for such a young player he looks like real deal (so many teams wouldn't be interested otherwise.) is there any info on what will happen with him eds?

He's trained with every big team under the sun and this week he's with us I believe?

He has been visiting almost all the top clubs around europe the last weeks, including Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern(twice), Ajax and Real. Barcelona and United also seems interested.

He is going to take a decision in the new year over where his future is.

Th14 as our manager?

Sentimentality aside, hhmm not sure.

A good player does not necessarily a good manager make, as they say in Rome circa 300AD.

On the plus side, he would be a major magnet to attract players and he could tap into the unknown French market.

Oh, hold on a sec.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

TH14 would be a great 'coach' his knowledge of the modern game and vision would make him that.

However, in the EPL we need a 'manager' someone who has the coaching skills, is able to motivate the players, but can also spot talent and convince them to come to us.

I feel TH would not be able to handle the last one, this is why he would make a good number 2 alongside AW, but I fear AW would not allow anyone to get on with the coaching job without interfering.

I hate to say it but Mourinho is probably the only manager in the EPL that has all the skills, love him or hate him!

I see the future of AFC (post wenger) with a team of 2, one for coaching and the other to take care of transfers etc, unless another Mourinho appears.

This does show what a great manager Sir Alex was (yes Chris I did say it) he always got the best out of every player, always had a plan B, and also knew when it was time to let a player move on.

Thats my serious post done for another month!

There's a lot to like about it if you ask me, taking on the Sly job has to be a great tool to learn so much and he is obviously doing the coaching badges at Arsenal.

Worked under Pep, is nobodies fool and I sure he would have the right people around him too.

The other interesting thing is that Wenger said 90% of the time they agreed on stuff and I'm betting the 10% was that Henry would buy a DM and another CB. Lol.

The snag to me is going into such a big job as your first job which may mean the likelihood is some way in the distance.

There's plenty of other great managers to win us titles whilst we wait. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Send him off to a French team first and see how he gets on ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I would consider allowing him to do his caoching badges at the club, followed by a role working alongside Arsene Wenger, with a view to him slowly taking over more of the managerial role.
In reality, Wenger will never allow any strong personality to work under him in as they could pose a threat to his position, hence no Henry, no Bergkamp, etc. Wenger likes less dominant characters, such as Rice, Bould, Brady, etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think too many people would ever say that Steve Bould is not a dominant character. especially the forwards that played against him. just listen to what the crazy gang used to say about the Bould and Adams partnership

Hopefully a good result at the weekend against Liverpool can really kick off an assault on the top four. Also with important players coming back like Giroud and Debuchy or on the verge of coming back from injury, the likes of Walcott, Kos, Ramsey and Ozil, our squad will look a lot healthier and stronger going into the festive period where the games come thick and fast and hopefully we can pick up some form and momentum and really kick on.

The biggest ask really is can we keep everyone fit, if we can we'll be in a great position to really push on with no excuses. Imagine a full squad to chose from, it's been unheard of recently for us but if it happens this team will be dangerous and could achieve something great.

I may be overly optimistic or blindly faithful, but I do have every confidence this team can succeed especially if we stay injury free.

Well Physio room has everyone back bar Wilshere by the 1st January.

Gnabry and Diaby are not even on the list of 9 players so hopefully and I say hopefully it will be great to get into the New Year pretty much up and running.

Just need to do the easy stuff then, stop conceding, score more, get a few in in the window and bobs your Aunty.

Seriously, would be good to get a good run in and keep the momentum, we are some way behind the top 2.

Today's poll should the fa give the go-ahead for Friday night PL football, no but they will.
They'll have to remake that Sean Bean film and call it WHEN FRIDAY SATURDAY SUNDAY and MONDAY COMES.
IMO over exposure will ruin the game, eventually

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I agree, but what worries me more is the effect it will have on lower league football, which up to now were able to have Friday nights available to play games. Teams like Tranmere in the past have used the Friday to play their matches in order to get a bigger crowd. Now they don't have that option.}

18 Dec 2014 08:36:41
I'm not sure there are many nights left in the week that you can't watch a game of football, albeit not the premiership, on one of the two satellite channels.

For fans it's fantastic for the clubs not getting any or much of the revenue it has to be a nightmare.

It still amazes me that we continue to maintain 4 divisions because the collective debt of the 72 clubs back in 2013 was reported at a massive £1 billion.

Love it G62.

Ed, do you know what financial packages are offered to teams who play on a Friday, eg Tranmere?
(From the TV companies).

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Tranmere did if for crowds mate, they were able to attract Liverpool and Everton fans to take the kids etc as there was no school the following day and they weren't going to be worried about missing the Liverpool/Everton game on TV or radio, if they couldn't go. The Football League does have an increased TV deal because of the Friday night coverage, which they will likely lose out on if the Prem spreads itself out to Fridays too. I don't think the exact amounts were ever laid out clearly, but it was definitely a factor in the latest TV deal being made.}

Friday games will go ahead. this could give the champions league club a good chance now.

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I hate the capitalist motivation behind It all I like the idea of coming home from work on a Friday, cracking open a beer and whacking the game on the old box
