"The best no 10 in the world"

Jose mourinho's words on having managed him.

We all know he can go missing in big games, but Ronaldo won the balon d'or doing the same thing for real in the champions league.

It's the raver coming through in his Subaru playing Christmas songs full blast, I've got shaking Stevens on. Snow is falling all around me Arsenal playing winning none it's the season when arsenal go all funny merry Christmas every one. R. G. you failed to beat another big club and were 7 points clear of spurs 2 weeks ago and now we are on your case, you will struggle to finish top 4 especially as spurs, and man Utd are on a roll . I'm off out to get absolutely smashed as I'm having a Mr Kipling day an exceedingly good day.

Steve just banter mate, you are a good side but you have a massive soft side just like spurs and go missing in the big games when leading. If that was chelski today 1 up at half time it would have stayed that score, I hate Chelsea but they look like the good old days of mourinho 1 nil goodnight, they will wrap this title up by late march Steve.

Your post was quality, but your team is poor

Agree0 Disagree1

We've been poor all season dags, but we are only 2 points of 2nd without playing well, while Arsenal have been playing very well until the last 2 games and are 4th and are only 1 point ahead.

Raver the stalker - Oh dear embarrassing youself again. So far this season, Arsenal went further than the Toot in the Champions League and the League Cup. Despite the last 2 results, guess what . Arsenal are still above the Toot and are in the top four. Still haven't completed my challenge to list the trophies won by the Toot during your lifetime and those won by Arsenal during the same period or if it's easier, those won by your manager compared to those won by our manager. As you know the pain at the lane just goes on.1961 and waiting, over 55 years!

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Dec 2016 11:24:16
Embarrassing what R. G., apart from Chelsea you have failed to win any of the big games, yes you went one round further in the league before Southampton knocked you out lol, and yes you went one round further in the champions league but you have no hope of beating Munich. All is left is the FA cup and the fight for 4 th with spurs and Utd, like I said you were 7 points clear of spurs 2 weeks ago and the way you are going you go could be 6 th by new years day.

19 Dec 2016 15:27:26
Oh dear Raver, you do realise that we have finished ahead of you in two competitions so far this season and it's only Dec. According to you we are so bad, yet we are ahead of you in the League and still in the CL. Go on Raver the coward, answer my challenges; list the trophies won by the Toot during your lifetime and those won by Arsenal in the same period. It's not difficult, it's only 12 years. List the trophies won by your manager and those won by our manager. As you well no the pain at the lane just goes on. 1961. 55 years and waiting.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Dec 2016 17:39:29
I haven't said you are a bad side R. G., you are a good side but go missing in the big games. I wouldn't brag about going further in cup competitions as you are not winning them either if you do a Chelsea then brag. The fact is R. G. I admit spurs are a decent side nothing else, but you think Arsenal are Barcelona the way you talk about them.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Dec 2016 07:15:59
Raver, you clearly misinterpret my comments. I have never stated that we will win things, merely that we are better than the Toot as can be seen from last season when we did better in all 4 competitions. This season we have gone further than the Toot in 2 comps and are ahead of them in the league. You cowardly ducked my challenges, as you well know, the pain at the lane just goes on. 1961 and waiting over 55 years of misery.

On this theme its nice to see we've bought into the pantomime season mood, always late to the ball like Cinderella and in the case of City and Everton we after out the famous pantomime cry of " there behind you, oh no there not " :-)

18 Dec 2016 18:39:08
9 points behind Chelsea and highly likely that's the way it will be after the 19 game half way stage leaving Chelsea on 49 points and us on 40.
Chelsea are averaging just over 2.5 points per game at the moment and it's difficult to see that figure dropping lower than 2 points a game average during the second half of the season giving Chelsea 38 points from there last 19 and a minimum total of 87 points.
Meaning we would need to take a minimum of 48 points from a possible 57 points to finish above Chelsea.
I think we can safely say we along with Spurs and Utd are top 4 chasers for the rest of the season and we can once again leave the title contending to others .
Disappointing but not totally unexpected.

I don't think you can go by current stats.

We were unbeaten in 14 premium games, securing 34 points.

But, have lost our last 2, securing zero points.

We will never win the PL while wengers manager

His time is up.

Agree2 Disagree1

18 Dec 2016 18:16:07
When we play Sanchez up front, the quality behind him on the wings goes down drastically, walcott and oxlade not good enough at holding the ball at all. All they do is run and give the ball away or cross into the goalkeepers hands, and iwobi is not ready yet. If ozil goes missing as well, Sanchez is practically cut off. We need a drastic improvement on the right side, someone like Draxler or Mahrez or someone of their quality who can change the match themselves, otherwise we just depend too much on Sanchez.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

18 Dec 2016 18:28:07
We also need a manager to get the best out of a team and player.

Agree3 Disagree1

18 Dec 2016 18:44:18
If the rest of team matched the intensity of Sanchez we would be far better position. Ozil yet again when we were under the cosh goes missing he should have been subbed not Iwobi, then subbing Ox again is just baffling what must the Ox be thinking. When we needed to get back in the game he should have taken of Xaxha for Elneny not Ox.

A lot of its down to mentality and attitude and that filters down from the manager, we juts not got the mentality to be title winners under Wenger.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Dec 2016 19:07:31
I think Ox picked up an injury mate.

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Dec 2016 19:08:09
Mentality has been the problem for years, of the last 7 teams who have lead the premier league on new years day only one of those 7 has failed to go on and win it.

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Dec 2016 19:10:28
Ox pulled his hamstring, that's why he was subbed.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2016 19:30:11
It doesn't really matter how intensely walcott and oxlade play, they just aren't good enough to start. May be as second choice subs they are okay, but shouldn't start. We need top quality replacements for them. Also Monreal on the left is becoming a liability.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2016 18:12:54
Disappointing to get nothing from these two away games.

9 points off Chelsea for me says goodbye to any title chance. IMO yes along way to go but we have to have one hell of a run now.

All managers are great after the event ( meaning me) but anyone thing AW should have mixed it up a bit over these two games. We played the long ball all day today but had no one to hold it up

WBA h
Palace h
Bournemouth a
Swansea a
Burnley h

These 5 games in the PL HAVE to get us 15 points .

Believable2 Unbelievable0

18 Dec 2016 19:59:54
Bambam,
As you say mate, 5 must win games.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2016 18:12:24
Well that was disappointing. We were poor in parts of first half - namely no leadership in back 4 and gifting possession with rubbish headers from defence. It went down hill in second half with that plus defence and midfield finding it impossible to string two passes together.
City were there for the taking and we fluffed our lines, even worse as we were one up again.
Frustrating and some - what happens to us? I don't see Mustafi bossing our back four but we sure are missing him. Ozil and Santi were encouraging the back four and midfield to put more pressure on the call higher up the pitch but they disappeared also. When we drop our game we don't really have anyone who pulls us back up.
No pressure on the ball, no running off the ball, no movement makes it easy for City and puts pressure on the Arsenal player with the ball.!
Frustrated - have I said that already?

Will the pundits and City fans lay into KDB for Arsenal's first goal or do Arsenal fans just do that and Ozil get targeted?

Arsenal XI: Cech; Bellerin, Gabriel, Koscielny, Monreal; Coquelin, Xhaka; Walcott, Ozil, Iwobi; Alexis

Nice bit of balance in side - interesting to see Xhaka today as has shown signs of improvement

18 Dec 2016 15:40:42
It's highly likely city will try and make the most of Monreals lack of cover on the left and people will be blaming Nacho if things don't go our way today.
I just don't get playing Iwobi in that role in such an important game, tracking back just isn't his game personally I'd have played Gibbs on the left of midfield in order to keep us tighter.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

18 Dec 2016 18:05:28
I'd seriously consider sending iwobi on loan. To a manager who doesn't appreciate laziness.

Ryan Bertrand continues to improve and impress. Could be a good option as LB is definitely an area we need to address. Robertson at Hull in a year or two could also be a great full back.

With cazorla out for some time and elneny called up for egypt in aon, do you think we need a new cm in january? I think we need a new creative cm like santi. We really miss his passing and movement. But who would thatt player be?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Dec 2016 13:08:36
Rat Pice - Great comment. I wonder if we will go in for Isco? I believe in order to mount a serious challenge for the CL and PL we need to do the following; Make a marquee signing, such as Isco, we need to tie up Ozil, Sanchez and Wenger.
If we are unable to make a signing, we have options whilst Elneny is away; Xhaka, Coquelin, Ramsey and Ox (at a push) . I believe Elneny would only miss something like 4 matches. It still makes me wonder if it would have been prudent to have been able to bring Wilshere back in the forthcoming window. I wonder if the reason we haven't extended the deals of Cazorla and Ox, is that Wenger expects to have a fit Wilshere back next season and possibly sign Isco or another player. In any event we need 3 or 4 fresh faces next season and to move some players on.

Agree3 Disagree2

18 Dec 2016 10:32:38
Ed, I read somewhere ( redtop paper no doubt! ) that Sanchez wants Wenger gone.

I then see his quote and don't see Wenger listed and think there's no smoke without a fire. What's your thoughts?

"I'm very happy at the club, I love it here, I love all the staff, I love all the cooks, I love all the employees who work for us.

"I'm very grateful to everybody here and as I say I'm very happy so it depends more on Arsenal.

"I really enjoy the relationship with the fans, they come to every game, they fill up the stadium, they're outside the stadium, they are cheering, I really love that.

"I want to win and I want to achieve my objectives more for them, so I want to win the Premier League and the Champions League because that's what the club is missing. ".

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Sanchez does not decide what happens to the manager.}

18 Dec 2016 11:55:34
It doesn't sound like he doesn't want Arsene as manager to me I think he's just made a very long list of all the reasons he wants to stay IF the club comes up with the wages he wants, not mentioning Arssne is an oversight not an insight but that doesn't make a headline that gets hits for the journalists.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Dec 2016 11:00:29
I know but is it part of discussions that he wants Wenger gone?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - What discussions? Certainly not any contract discussions.}

18 Dec 2016 10:40:32
A good January window = Ozil and Sanchez sign but most importantly Wenger signs two year extension. We then sign two fullbacks and a winger like Hazard who can run and take people on. Get Danny back into the squad and Santi back into the starting line up.
Between now and next season we give Pirez a chance to see if he can make it. He has shown he has a bit of pace and can find the net but need to see that we have a better option up front rather than Danny who is not a striker. I want plan A ( Sanchez and cover with pace ) Plan B ( Giroud ) . No plan is Theo or Danny as striker as they don't cut it up there being marked by two centrehalves but are ok on the wing. May be we don't play them at the same time as we still need that clever, tricky fast winger which they are not.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

18 Dec 2016 10:23:36
Our most disappointing player so far this season has to be between Ramsey and Xhaka, Ramsey had an excellent Euro's but looks totally out of his depth with us while at 30 million Xhaka currently looks extremely over priced to me.
Obviously Xhaka may well settle in and improve dramatically but on what I've seen so far we paid atleast 20 million to much for him, Aaron imo needs a move because he is way to comfortable in his own abilities at Arsenal and needs to go where he himself feels stretched rather than hard done by if he isn't selected in the starting 11.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

18 Dec 2016 10:46:19
Id throw monreal in too. For £35 mil xhaka has been a disappointment for me and ramsay has just gone off the radar. All could step up though.

18 Dec 2016 09:37:10
As Mertesacker will be fit in the New Year, would you send Holding on loan to get playing time?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

18 Dec 2016 10:14:36
No I would do it the other way around personally, Mertesacker is at an age where he needs to be playing regularly but he isn't good enough to do the at Arsenal, I would do all I could to get him a loan deal to his favoured destination and let Holding develop with us.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Dec 2016 10:29:13
Was thinking the same thing and it's tricky as I would like to see Holding as back up rather than Gabriel. However, can you risk youth that much and injuries. lastly, can you really send your old captain out on loan? Political minefield.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2016 10:47:42
I don't want to see mert anywhere near the team, if we do we are struggling.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2016 10:50:56
I'm sure Mertascker would rather be playing for someone (most probably a German team) than training all week to warm our bench at very very best SY mate, call it a loan or free transfer what ever personally I'd be upfront with the man and say " your very welcome to sit back and see out the contract we very happily gave you if that's what you want, but you are behind Kos Mustafi Gabriel and Holding so your chances of playing for us are extremely low, but if you want to play as much football as possible then we will do all we can to help you go where you want to do that " the choice is 100% yours to make but this is the situation.
