Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

For some reason, I feel totally relaxed about the Bayern game.

I have a sneaky feeling we are going to have the game of our season.

The defence are going to be solid as a rock.

The midfield are going to pass, interchange and play like one unit.

Giroud is going to score.

DG think's we are going to win 2-0

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ever the optimist DG! I have to say I almost agree with you! We've been written off by literally everyone due to Bayern being arguably the best team on the planet and I too have woken up this morning feeling so relaxed and excited about the game.

We can catch Bayern cold tonight. Taking a two nil lead to the Allianz arena would be huge. I'd settle for a draw and snap your hand off for ANY sort of victory!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would play Sonogo over Giroud. Also if he plays with Podolski and Ox on the wings and Ozil centrally I think we could actually get a result.

Having said that Wenger will probably play Rosicky, Ozil, Cazorla and Monreal so we will not have a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same here mate. I have the feeling we will win today. Although I would go 2 - 1 to us as I believe it is virtually impossible to stop Bayern from scorring

Greeny and Jenny were posting earlier about team selection for tomorrows game.

I mentioned Cazorla without realising Greeny already named 11 players.

Where am I going with this I hear you asking?

DG's master plan>>>

Because Cazorla is the size of a hobbit, he could run on the pitch at the start dressed as a mascot, preferably holding Meretesacker's hand for dramatic "nobody will notice" effect.

Result?
12 versus 11 and we win the game.

Who's ya daddy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why stop there? Just throw Gunnersaurus on up front and pretend he's Giroud. I'm sure the extra height would trouble the Germans!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hehe don't you just love Gunnersaurus?

Fancy barca in the next round, they've about the same amount of penetration as bruce Forsyth without Viagra

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would give our midfield combo of ramsey, wilshere, ozil, cazorla, ox, flamini, arteta, at this moment in time, we may have the deepest and most individually talented midfield, outside of bayern and barcelona. I would put us on par with chelsea and city.

our defense is doing well compared to last few years.

but what we lack is that clinical figure up front.

Aguero, Suarez, Messi, Ronaldo, cavani, ibrahimovic, Dare I say Van persie, rooney, lewandowski. the guys who can make the difference with the type of midfield we have.

however, if this summer we are looking at Diego Costa, Mandzukic, Benzema we won't be improving mentally. those names are not enough technically to give us the edge over the likes of city, barca, real, bayern, perhaps liverpool next year and even chelsea if they manage to sign cavani.

since we won't be able to afford any of those super strikers, the only player out there who would be within our financial means and who would be that cool calm head is Balotelli.

he has the physical, technical and the composure for big games, however I don't think he will move from what is his dream team.

Im not sure who we will go after, but possibly adding draxler on the wing, with theo on the other, would give us a real option to strengthen our team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mmm, I have to say, they completely controlled the game from start to finish. They had a perfectly good goal ruled out wrongly for offside. 2 goals away to City and a clean sheet is no mean feat. Tbh they would be the last team I would want to play until the final and I'm not even an Arsenal fan lol. I did like the analogy however Saint ha ha

Agree0 Disagree0

Barca in the next round?

Have I missed something? Did I fall asleep for 3 weeks and we beat Bayern Munich? lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Laker, I would happily settle for Diego Costa or Benzema, they would score goals aplenty at Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha thanks simon, reckon Costa could do a job. Mandzucic to chelsea for 25mill apparently, have I missed something there?

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayern are top dogs no doubt. But I agree with simonpw, Barca are the last team I would like us to play. Simple reason being we play the same type of football and they have more advanced artillery. For us, playing Barca would be like Delboy trying to outpunch David Haye. We all remember what happened there. Supreme as they are, Bayern do not have magical players so we will always have a chance. This for us would be like Delboy going toe to toe with Wladimir Klitschko. He got beaten, but he lasted 12 rounds

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like Barca to play against a steamroller on the pitch -:). Can't stand that team, how many games have they connived their way to victory with Olympian quality ice dancing twists and flips with extra acting, and by mobbing the referee? Busquets was his usual embarrassment last night.

Bayern I respect; Barca, not a bit despite all their talent.

In the quarters I'd love to meet Barca so we can stuff them and send them home.

If These Rumours Are To Be True About.

Mario Balotelli

Julian Draxler

Paul Pogba

Then We Be Invincible Once Again Next Season

Can Just Imagine Ramsey, Wilshere, Pogba & Cazorla In Midfield With Draxler On Left With The OX Right & Baloteli Up Front

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Make's the mouth water for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Really doubt pogba will leave Juventus.

18 Feb 2014 21:38:47
That's a bit like having a Henry, an Overmars and a Viera back in the team.

Now I've made myself miserable :-(

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba to PSG, i'm quite sure this is going to happen.

PSG have been after all the young superstars like janujaz, hazard and pogba. they want to build some sort of super team with their unlimited funds.

they will be selling the likes of Lavezzi and pastore this summer for sure, not to forget cavani. a cool 100 million in transfer fees for sure.

18 Feb 2014 19:51:47
That was funny reading that Danny Alves didn't know there were two teams in Manchester.

Seems crazy that he'd never heard of United :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe he thought they were called Fergie united all his life and though there were a Scottish team.
Looking back he may have been right all along

Agree0 Disagree0

Dani alves talks about how the barcelona team have catalans in their team and how they have players only from their academy.

it would be fine if xavi, iniesta or puyol said that. but for a player they bought for 30 mill. its rather rich.

he seems like a guy, you could have a laugh with at a pub, but rather a ignorant knob at work.

Just checked Physio room which showed Ramsey now returning 22nd March then confirmed it with the report saying that is the fixture he's aiming to come back in.

I know we keep saying it but walks off the pitch on Boxing Day and nearly 3 months later could be back.

Having only read the other day he was due back on the 1st March it's so frustrating.

I didn't even appreciate we had been without the, at that time, leagues best player for so long.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's so frustrating - seemingly we have a physio centre that is either lying to the media to mislead them or is completely incompetent. Almost every injury to Arsenal players in the last couple f years or so has ended up being twice as long as diagnosed . on this basis Walcott will be back in the middle of next season, he'll play 5 or 6 games just start to do great things and then be off again for the rest of the season again.

Agree0 Disagree0

You have to hope our medical team are taking no chances Jenny and not just really bad at their job, but previous evidence doesn't support this case at all.
With friends like them?

Agree0 Disagree0

We really need a new medical team. they seem useless.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who runs our medical team?

Harold Shipman?

Agree0 Disagree0

You just killed me there DG

Agree0 Disagree0

Rue, are you sure it wasn't Shipman who killed you? Lol

I plead w UEFA to give us caliber refs

I beg them

We were screwed at the Camp Nou

AC Milan doctored their pitch

Last year second leg was the most one sided refereeing I've seen in a while. No single call was a game changer, but add them up and we stood no chance. 2-0 was a miracle, and even more impressive when you think about it, compounded w who we didn't play, aka Jack and Santi, our best 2 players

I'm not sure what UEFA have against Arsene, but clearly they don't like him, and it reflects on how our matches are refereed

Some of the refereeing in this season's group stages alone has been downright horrendous, across all groups

This has got to stop.

On the other hand, if UEFA thinks this type of referee bias will be allowed to stand over time, think again. PSG and City aren't little clubs anymore, and combined have more money than anyone else out there

In other words, if the "Good Old Boys" fraternity, aka past Euro champs, keep getting the benefit of blatant referee bias, you're going to see money do some serious talking, and lawyers begin investigations.

In other words, time for UEFA to get it together now, instead of its hand being forced

Have some damn integrity, appoint calibre, fair referees

How hard is that to ask?

4 people/clubs would be affected by this, 4.

Adriano Galliani, AC Milan
Florentino Perez, Real Madrid
Whichever clown is running Barca
Karl Heinz-Rumenigge, Bayern Munich

Now look at the last 10-15 years of the CL and tell me if this makes any sense. Those 4 clubs run the CL.

It is very clear UEFA does not prioritize the PL, or it's teams in their hierarchy

Take the 4 clowns' fingerprints off of how UEFA allows the CL to progress, and you're going to see one hell of a fairer tournament

Ironically 3 of the 4 knocked us out in succession, but go back further and look at the controversy surrounding their campaigns, and how it usually seems to work out for them until one of the four knocks another of the four out. When this doesn't happen, it's usually pk's, where refs bias is taken away. amazing isn't it

Not saying this happens every year, but pretty close

I'm sick of feeling cheated after being knocked out. Every year I'm sick to my stomach. I'd rather we take a proper beating, than cheating and scandal knocking us out

On behalf of the other 12 teams still in the CL perpetually getting kicked in the balls this time of year, please get the refs right

Please!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Althou I do have sympathy with u in terms of bad refereeing in the CL, we have had our own fair share go against us as Chelsea i'm sure will also point to various games too. I do think to suggest a conspiracy against arsenal is laughable! Think back to Malaga's tie last season against Dortmund, shocking refereeing but I didn't see any1 suggesting a conspiracy then or now! This is a post I normally would expect to see from a Liverpool fan ;-)
However I will say it does hurt when u feel u have been unfairly eliminated from a cup by poor refereeing.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's a conspiracy to help the same 4 superpowers

No PL team ever gets the benefit vs those 4

Agree0 Disagree0

Read it again CTR it ain't just arsenal he is talking about and US you are spot on mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is the fouls that are given in the champions league are not the sort of fouls you can get away with in the champions league.

yes there are shockers, each team has had them, human element. but it compounds our frustration of not taking the advantage at key moments.

had bendtner scored that goal, had van persie not got a silly yellow card before the red, so on and so forth.

look at city today, too physical and pushing players off the ball would work against norwich, but against barcelona, it was considered not part of playing the ball, rather the player, and conceeded too many freekicks. against a team with aerial power they would suffer more, rather they were just made to run like dead souls against a team that just passes to death.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post USG.

The one that always springs to mind is RVP's 2nd yellow at the Nou Camp.

The ref blew for offside but RVP kicked the ball, claiming he didn't hear the whistle because there was 90,000 mad Spanish Barca supporters screaming their heads off, but ref still booked him.

Bloody joke.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with USG on this one. Not 100% sure if it is a conspiracy. I will allow 10% to the referees not being able to handle the aggression, pace and style of English teams, not used to well timed tackles at speed, can't keep up with the play, more 'open to persuasion' by players putting one on.

But it's no secret UEFA and FIFA officials like the British FAs and fans, money but want to minimize a British role in the game. That has to have an effect on the culture of the organization and the instructions and selection of referees. Platini, Blatter, they are Anglophobes: ask Jack Warner.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2014 18:38:35
Been a while since I last posted as I've just got back from Barcelona. Went to the Nou Camp to see them thrash Vallecano 6-0, and I have a few observations. The first is that Iniesta is an absolutely amazing footballer. Completely different animal when you watch him live and, in my opinion, deserves to be regarded in the same bracket as your Messis, your Ronaldos and your Kallstroms. Secondly, Barcelona are defensively weak, even with Puyol. After we've beaten Bayern, if we get Barca in the next round, we'll have a real chance of going hard at them at getting into the semis.

Anyway, enough drivel about Arsenal-lite. Tomorrow, the lads play the biggest game of the season, bar none. Overall, we've been fantastic this season, but we'll really have to step it up if we want to beat Bayern. I agree completely with the team Greeny suggested earlier - Chambo and Poldi out wide to offer some pace and direct running - to give Lahm and Alaba something to think about. I feel if we go at them early and shut down their midfield, we'll stuff 'em. Bayern Munich, we're coming for you. COYG.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have always thought Inesta should be up there with the other two as class above world class, unbelievable little player and really nice bloke to by all accounts.
Would fit in well at the Emirates me thinketh, puma make him and Barcelona an other they can't refuse.please!

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think anyone underestimates iniesta, xavi or messi. they have won too many trohpies to be considered a fluke.

you would be surprised when you go to barcelona and talk to locals how they love that guy. those 3 are their holy trinity in football.

Im I the only one who thinks of all the players who could play, giroud is the one I think shouldn't. Right apparently bayurn may play without a striker, bearing in mind his own poor form and our abundance of midfielders it might be a good ploy. Plus personally they know the way giroud plays and he's easily nullified, i'd play sanogo while he's still fit if we need a man up top. Plus giroud doesn't score big goals against big teams.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I love Giroud but have to admit his place is up for debate and he needs to change that asap.
Sanogo Poldolski Giroud its fair to make for each

Agree0 Disagree0

Im worried that his off field antics will play on his mind and cost us valuable points in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Give him a rest and stick Podolski up front on his own.

Afternoon gents

I keep reading reports saying Bayern will be too strong for us over 2 legs. Admittedly they are one of the best teams around. People are saying that they are stronger than last year so we have no chance. To answer anyone saying that to me, I respond with. SO ARE WE! When we beat Bayern in the Allianz last year we were in a bad run of form, however this year we have been sensational! We are much better than last year, 1 point from the top of the league, quater finals of the FA cup, and last 16 of Europe! Bring on Bayern!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We always have a chance we are Arsenal not Aberystwyth.
Bayern are a excellent side and deservedly favorite for the tie but write us offin haste and sit out the QF

Banter please Eds

The team selection has come under debate with who will play against Bayern Munich. I think the back five will be WS, BS, LK, PM & KG.

With Arteta suspended then Flamini will come in alongside Wilshere probably. Giroud will come in up front and Ozil will slot in behind.

I'm curious as to how Wenger will play this. Personally I think the final two players should be Poldoski and The Ox. I think both those two players will want to prove something and both go in high on confidence.

Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Throw Cazorla in there as well and I think that's a pretty damn fine team.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would DG but we can't play with 12 players! Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think rosicky will start as he was fully rested this weekend. can't see podolski or ox starting ahead of cazorla either. my predicted lineup;

schezny,
sagna, kosc, mert, gibbs,
flam, wilsh,
ozil, rosicky, cazorla,
giroud.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me I think
Shezney
sagna kosc mert gibbs
flamini
ox rosicky ozil poldoski
giroud

2-2 not a good result but I think we know then what we have to do when we r out their

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2014 18:22:08
Greeny,

Cazorla is fairly small, they may not notice Dags fantastic idea :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

For me
Szczesney
sagna Mert kos Gibbo
Ox Flamini Wilshere
Rosicky Ozil
Sanogo
Marking Sanogo is tougher than almost any player I've seen this season, you can't read him because he ain't sure what he's going to do either :-) Giroud and poldolski can be predictable to a top CB Sanogo definitely ain't that

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2014 19:01:54
I like the look of all those teams and would go with yours gunner62 but think that another straight 90 for Sanogo may be a stretch after being out for so long.

I'm really excited by him though and think he will be invaluable for the run in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenny, we'l stick with 12 players against 11 instead!

I meant to post this the other day when I heard.
Wayne Rooney £300 grand a week!! that's without sponsorship and add ons. Now I am not joking when I ask have I missed something here. Surely this is not for his footballing talent.
I think it is so outrageous bordering on the insane. How in the world can he be worth that.
Lets put things into perspective. If Messi was in the Premier League would that make him on £1 million a week then, or Ronaldo what would he be on too. Absolutely ridiculous to believe Rooney is worth that NONSENSE. I feel sorry for any club that has to try and sign top names after that its going to be a nightmare. We will now see wages going through the roof in the summer wait and see.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They need to keep him and pay him what he wants, he can't be part of that exodus.

Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic probably the brazilian twins, not to forget nani and anderson, they will want to sell cleverly, ashley young, its not easy trying to replace 8-9 players by buying 5-6.

Difficult summer for them, unless they have begun their negotiations already

Agree0 Disagree0

Laker you make a very good point as half of Man Utds current squad will be leaving through the exit in the summer and Moyles will have a hell of a job mould a team. He will be in a building phase for a couple of seasons hopefully!

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree, Rooney is not worth 300k a week imo, that's if he is going to get that at all. Quite how u know the ins and outs of his contract i'm not sure but it would be fair to say he will be on quite a wedge.

Onto what it does for any1 else, simple answer, nothing lol, football has been crazy for decades now and u need look no further than 35m for Carroll or 50m for Torres. This should have no effect on arsenal at all, u have never shopped in that bracket (wages wise) and I dnt really see that changing.

Laker, yes this summer may prove difficult but then again may not, as u all no i'm far from happy where my club is ATM but also respect Moyes for seeing what he has at the club before going out and spending 100's of millions on a guess, after all the same team walked the league last season althou I doubt Moyes would of expected such a big drop off this season. I expect homework has been done and targets identified, aswell as first choice 2nd choice targets too.

However this time next season if there is not significant improvement I expect Moyes may not see out the season, but that's a long way away for now. I would personally be praying for a top 2 spot and a cup if I was a gooner (yuck, brougt up a little sick there :-)) otherwise u may see a similar season as utd's next season for yourselves.
Without improvement I do wonder if Wenger will stick around (althou that will make some happy) for me the man is magic for keeping a competitive-ish side in the top 4 for this long. Even thou I do think he has the problem with spending money not the board as many seem to think here.

At the end if the day there are very few special traditional clubs left at the top level and I wish nothing but luck for arsenal this season, but do fear that many of your fans have brought far too much into the narrative of the modern day media of football being a game played differently every year, its not! There has to be planning, utd for example did not buy a great team in 2008 when we won the league and cl they matured into the best team in Europe over 3-4 years and if it wernt for Ronaldo going and investment in replacements not really forthcoming, should of been the best for 3-4 more years. Right now your team imo is near the end of a 3-4 year plan and without a trophy or silverware to show for it u may have to start again and wait another 3-5 years to see it, but the difference is next time I don't think Wenger will be there to help u throu it and that may be a bigger loss than some on here think!

Gd luck for tomorrow guys, I really mean it and much more luck to your fine selfs for the rest of the season ahead :-)

Feel free to disagree after all these are just my opinions

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2014 19:20:07
There is absolutely no doubt that Rooney isn't remotely worth that money and I can't believe that United are thinking of paying even half that.

As far as Arsenal being at the end of a plan that is about as far from the reality at what is happening here as it's possible to get.

With the young guns signed up, the likes of Zalelem, Gnabry and Crowley getting noticed, some great experience with quality added to the arrival of Ozil, this is without a doubt the beginning of a great squad about to enter IMO next season, year two of a plan.

With a very small exception we have no what is termed as deadwood or players that are not able to contribute.

We have money to add to a squad that is on the up, we will I have no doubt win trophies over the years ahead.

The other problem for United is the previously lauded players like Jones, Smalling and even DeGea seem to have gone backwards this year.

RVP looks distinctly unhappy, Kagawa has just been totally wasted, they just look a million miles from a team and a Crystal Palace led by Tony Pulis away is just about the worst next fixture they could have.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a fair point I suppose, but the same points apply, wether u are at a start or the end. Wenger I believe won't be there in 2 years at the most, and arsenal like united are in a unique position in terms of management, u have had the same manager for nearly 20 years that has built the gaint u have become in recent times but when he leaves for paris will leave behind either a sqaud that has won nothing or as i'm sure u all hope a sqaud with winners, either scenario which united are a great example might not be enough to prevent a transistion period and a self efficient club like arsenal and united does not have the flexibility or stupidity in the transfer market to throw around 10's of millions willy nilly on many players, add to that a transistion period and it all adds up to the possibility of a difficult season.
But I dnt believe many people would ever write arsenal off as a dead horse if that happend as many on here have with United and have done at their peril in future years imo (laker)
I would agree to jenny about Jones, rafa, Evans etc regressing, however I think this is more down to confidence rather than lack of talent, rvp is not happy that looks obvious and I did like Wengers attempt at mind games prior to our game subtlety using this to arsenal advantage.
Did it work? Who knows, neither team got much credit out of the game, althou I do maintain on another day we would of put at least 1 chance away, but I would guess so would u.
I just am little disheartened with the quick fix culture of football fans these days, imo there is nothing more exciting to see a group of players grow together to the best they can be and when they end up CL winners, or league or unbeaten it gives great satisfaction as fans watching. Then again i'm a soppy old git :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2014 20:53:23
I think part of your last paragraph does sum up what is happening here, we are growing into a great team, we have no need to quick fix just add each season where we need.

That in essence is what Sir Alex failed to do, he allowed the team to become old together without filling the necessary gaps.

How long it will take to build it all back up is the thing that currently causes all United fans debate and concern.

Think there is little doubt you will be back it's only the when that's uncertain.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergie survived on the class of 92, for the superstars that he has had at his disposal. when arsenal were buying strikers for 12 million, united were buying defenders for 30 million.

united always had the advantage to pay big money, to attract big names due to their success and even buy players from the opposition by a position of strength.

we wanted ronaldo, fergie spoke to his agent, slipped him a fiver and the rest is history.

the players we managed to steal from united, with the promise of game time have paid of, ramsey and ox to name a few.

fergie possibly did not have funds or he wanted to go out on a high and only had one objective.

he brought back paul scoles from retirement instead of playing pogba.

if you had him, your season would not have been the same, he is world class at 20.

he rode his luck with giggs and scholes and kept a core while adding 30 million players here and there.

when chelsea became oil rich, they added a new threat to Man utd, while arsenal were waning, and now with city coming into the picture Manchester United are no longer the big draw, in terms of money.

now united is scraping with arsenal for the best of the rest, and at this stage the progress for the future will determine the pulling power.

having rooney, mata and van persie is a start, but if they don't spend big or give their youth a chance like jesse lingard or zaha then they are only adding to their woes.

it will be an interesting summer, but what will be most interesting is to see if the players will take a paycut if they miss top 4, when rooney is getting paid more.

Part 2 of my question from yesterday, who do people think is the most overrated player in the history of Arsenal. I know I will get shot for this but I think Whilshere?.

Limerick Gunner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I give you Lord Nicklas Bendtner who feels he would only sign for Real Madrid or Barcelona when he invariably leaves Arsenal in the summer. I get the feeling NB doesn't think he's necessarily the best striker in the world but he would probably put himself in the top one.

As for you saying Wilshere is overrated. I think you're being slightly harsh. Maybe he's not hit a Ramsey run of progression and stepped up yet but the guy is hardly 35 yet either. He's got the weight of club and country expectation on his shoulders and he's still maturing as a player and a man.

He's recently had a kid and he's on the way to cutting out the drinking and smoking escapades from the recent past so that will enable him to look to improve himself as a player. I have faith he will be a future Arsenal and England captain.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it will always be Denilson. He was basically a Brazilian Cleverley

Does RVP really want to go back to Arsenal? I think he would be thinking that he has already been down that road.More to the point do we need to take back a 31 year old striker? let's face it he has hardly set the world alight this season injuries or not. I say forget him let's go after someone who has a bit of mileage left in them. If we are going to pay decent money for players their are plenty better out there we can be looking at. We need to freshen things up not go backwards

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree Golds. I don't ever want to see RVP back in an Arsenal shirt. End of.

He made his choice and he's now 31 and back to being injured a fair bit. I would take Balotelli, Draxler, Costa etc the players the right side of 25.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id like to see him pair up with zlatan.

Its EGO time.

Enjoy tomorrow night's game it could well be our last stress free game of the season.
Very few of us thought back in August this is our year for the CL and I doubt that number has increased much since then, but should we beat Bayern tomorrow and there are potentially 21 high pressure high expectancy games to come.

Should we take out the champions over two legs then it really would be all to play for.

So relax and enjoy being rank outsiders tomorrow night, it might just be your last chance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

These are the games you live for as a player and a fan surely?

Playing games against the best players in the world and see where you are. This will most definitely show us where we are!

I for one am so pumped up ready for tomorrow!

I'm sure there's a lot more talk than substance but I would be very very happy to have super Mario join us.

Yes he's full of potential problems and that's the chance you take but for two fantastic seasons he might be the breath of exciting wonderment that make the Emirates rock like never before.
Two years because he would get bored and want to leave but could be a case of better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all

Agree. He could be the, dare I say, Cantona-esque player that could catapult us to the title and silverware in general.

Think how motivated he would be to play well against City, Utd, Chelsea etc.

He wouldn't be intimidated by the big teams. He would want to show he belongs and would no doubt drag some of the current players to that sort of mindset.

On a totally unrelated note. Can someone shut up that tw-t Mourinho for 5 mins?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sure. Put him in a room with Bruce Banner. As long as he doesn't say anything obnoxious or spiteful he's safe, but me I'd give him 5 minutes.

As a tactician and motivator there aren't many better managers than Mourinho but as a person he is an absolute ****! Always commenting on stuff that doesn't need commenting on, just to try and play some mad mind games.

When he says that this Barca team is the worst team in a long time he is probably correct but there's no need to comment on that and the media encourage it by asking the questions because it sells papers. If they are that bad why did they romp the title last year against his Madrid team with the exact same team (bar Neymar, who actually improves the team!) as last year.

He does like to talk a lot of rubbish does Jose!

Someone should ask him if he considers one copa del rey and one league cup as a success in spain.

on a side note.

Ronaldo, Pepe, Casillas, Ramos, his own team turned on him.

Well done Genius.

He may not be a "yaya";
But when he's on the pitch, I shout halleluyah.
He may not be a "matic";
But his tenacity, who can match it?

He relishes every challenge,
Never afraid to put that foot in.
He loves his job; guess that's why I love him.
He does his job; guess it makes us all love him.
Yet he makes out time in his busy schedule on the field
To guide others and say "hey you, get in there, get in there."

Mathieu, O Mathieu, that you had not left us, what could have been?
But I'm glad you're back,
And what a difference you make.

Respect.

IS he talking about Giroud?

No DG, I'm talking about Flamini.

Eds, what are the chances of a live chat page or box even? Particularly for games and transfer deadline days
Would be a great way to discuss games.
Guessing abusive language could be a problem but maybe you could make it for registered users only and so you can track down the culprits quicker and easier.

{Ed001's Note - it was something we used to do in the past, but it was very labour intensive for the editors involved. The wrestling editors have been trialling a version on their page for PPV events though, so we are still looking for ways to make it work. Once we find a workable solution, we will use it again.}

Ed 001that would be brilliant but don't make this site too Much better I'm finding it increasingly difficult to fit my work and life around it as it is, if it gets much more addictive the job will have to go :-)

{Ed001's Note - just for you, I will make sure any trial runs take place on here in future. Though we would regret it when you lose your job, can't afford the internet and vanish from the site!}

Reports in Italy suggest that Balotelli has become frustrated with life in Milan and is now more determined than ever to move on.

Balotelli cried when he was substituted against Napoli last week, and while he bounced back with a late goal to secure victory against Bologna on Friday, it is clear that all is not well with the Italian international.

Indeed, the 23-year-old reportedly told agent Mino Raiola that he wanted to leave in January but preliminary talks with Chelsea - about a reunion with Jose Mourinho - failed to amount to anything.

The Gunners goalless draw with Manchester United strengthened Wenger's resolve to bring in a new striker, and Balotelli remains high on the agenda.

As recently as last summer such a move seemed completely out of reach for Arsenal, with Milan said to value Balotelli at "twice the cost of Gareth Bale" - approximately £150m.

Arsene Wenger met with Mino Raiola over a move for Mario Balotelli

But a combination of factors have now made the transfer a distinct possibility.

In addition to Balotelli's dissatisfaction with life at the San Siro and Arsene Wenger's need for greater firepower, both player and club have signed sponsorship agreements with German sportswear giants Puma.

Reports last month suggested that Puma - who signed a £150m kit sponsorship deal with the Gunners earlier this season - are willing to stump up as much as £15m to bring Balotelli back to England.

Meanwhile, Milan's asking price is thought to have fallen to £40m and with Raiola - who counts Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba amongst his clients - pulling the strings a summer move cannot be ruled out any longer.

Not sure what to make of this. But I'm warming to the idea of him at Arsenal.

It seems to me that Balotelli has problems with every club he is it at. What makes us think he won't be any different at Arsenal. I'm a bit apprehensive to be honest. If I were Wenger he would be a consideration only. He doesn't seem to be happy where ever he ends up.

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason ballotelli was crying when subbed was the level of racial abuse he was getting from the napoli fans, I'm a massive ballotelli fan and would love to see him play for us, he's an amazing talent and has had a lot to deal with for one so young, having Wenger as a father figure could be just the thing he needs to turn his career around

Agree0 Disagree0

Also, what will happen to the Draxler rumours? Wenger wants him as his next top striker, surly Balotelli will stop this happening if he were to join.
