I am sorry but is Sanchez bigger than arsenal? no he is not. if he stays he stays if he goes he goes, all this talk of he's winning the battle we are moseying the war, it's one player we replace him simple get Lamar I'd be happy with that this is arsenal football club not the Sanchez show.

It's not as simple as 'just get Lemar' though is it?

18 Jul 2017 21:20:59
Surely if Sanchez isn't that important to Arsenal then surely he didn't cost us a champions league place with his tantrum in February?
Either he is that important and did cost us top 4 or he isn't that important and didn't?
He can't be so unimportant yet be so responsible surely?

Tell you what, if we don't get Lemar now and all goes well him for at Monaco, he's going cross the 100 million mark. So let's get him now else it's going to be the same old arsenal story.

Totally agree about Lemar (if has a good season) being worth close to £100 million next year. I do think you sometimes have to just bite the bullet with these promising youngsters. The amount of dithering Arsenal have done over the years over prices has in the end bitten us on the arse. Hazard, Draxler, Suarez, etc.

18 Jul 2017 14:48:05
It appears AW is playing hard ball with Alexis and will not sanction any move. Is he deluded to think Alexis will sign a new contract or even worse so stubborn to let him run his contract down and leave on a free? Surely its time to sell him and use the money to buy a player who will play for us . Lemar springs to mind and even Mahrez would be great.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

18 Jul 2017 15:21:05
I believe Wenger is intentionally making things difficult, to obtain as high a transfer fee as possible. Don't forget Sanchez will be 29 in December, probably his last chance of obtaining a long term contract on high wages. If he is kept at Arsenal until the end of his contract, any club interested in him will be aware of the fact that he will be nearly 30 when they sign him. In addition Sanchez will lose out on higher wages if he stays at the club next season on his current wage packet. The longer we make City wait, they may either cough up a higher transfer fee or look elsewhere. Look at Bellerin, as we made Barcelona wait, they bought elsewhere and he looks set to stay. Wenger would make a great poker player.

Some of our fans crack me up. He'd be stubborn in thinking he can replace him or stubborn thinking he can make him stay. He'll get criticised heavily no matter what he does with alexis.

18 Jul 2017 16:25:47
Paul I think if we sold him you would still have a go at Wenger so the manger can't win whatever he does.

First post on here, enjoy reading the posts, occasionally insightful, occasionally quite humorous.

Thought the article in The Guardian today was quite good and probably came closest to describing the position the club is taking with Sanchez. It does make a certain amount of sense to retain a quality player who can be pivotal in helping us return to the CL in the coming season. Any money lost on losing Sanchez on a free is offset by CL revenue and again puts us in a position to buy talent who will only consider clubs actively participating in CL.

Not returning to CL would be far more detrimental than losing Sanchez on a free transfer?

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 13:38:50
Answer this question, did Sanchez think we'd win the champions league when he signed? Not a chance, it's just an excuse to force a move, don't forget he was bench warming at Barcelona, I've had a guts full of all the talk about him, sell him for 80 million and pay Monaco what they want for lemar, a 21 year old with immense talent and potential and forget about Sanchez.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

18 Jul 2017 14:23:59
Sanchez didn't win the Champions league at Barcelona and in my book has turned into a prize plum.

No doubting his ability but his antics last season, now matter if he felt let down were pathetic. Whining like a girls blouse, limping about feigning injury then running about like a race horse. I lost count of how many times he lost possession or simply ran mindlessly into opposing defenders.

My feelings are he's off and honestly couldn't give a flying one if he does. If that's his thought process then jog on fella.

Arsenal will still be here and that's actually the team I support not some fly boy nonce.

Make him stay. I think we're going to you know.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 15:30:11
Win the battle lose the war, yup that sounds like us.
Accept the relationship between Arsenal and Sanchez is over and it's now about how we part and how much each side wants to move on rather than be bitter and try and hurt the other.
Holding a grade is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to get sick
Sanchez can simply go through the motions for the next 12 months then he's free to join whoever he wishes including Spurs if he really wanted to be bitter in return.
Be smart not stubborn.

18 Jul 2017 15:51:50
Do you think we should loose the battle as well G62?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 15:52:25
He won't join spuds either.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 18:06:50
I don't think we should lose the battle Sanogo but rather we've already lost it.

I'm sure I've said before that I want him to stay but everything he says and does indicates he's off or rather wants to be off.

So if he stays I'm happy but just don't see it and he really hasn't covered himself in glory by being a dick and the end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 18:17:34
maybe wenger will regret dropping him against liverpool for tactic reasons lol. what was he doin.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 18:36:40
Hi Sanago mate what's it matter who wins the petty battle surely it's more important we get the result that's best for all, I'm not sure keeping a player who so obviously doesn't want to be here is good for anyone.
I'm pretty sure he won't join Spurs but my point is if he wanted to he could and we would be powerless to stop him next summer, should Spurs do well in this season's champions league and win the premier league title it wouldn't be out of the question for Alexis plus he wouldn't have to move house either.
Just let the bloke go now and get some cash in return is the sensible thing to do.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 19:36:44
You said win the battle lose the war is arsenals way and then suggest we should just loose the battle. Sanchez isn't a sulky child like berahino he will give his all. He signed a contract so how can he sulk because we won't let him break it. It's World Cup year and he lives to play.

We are stronger than all the weak hearted wimps would have you believe mate. He stays he plays then he can go next year if he wants. He has more of a chance to get us more revenue than what we would loose by selling him for a lower price this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 21:29:31
Sanchez could miss the whole season and still be an automatic pick for Chilli Sanogo.
It's been suggested his sulking cost us top 4 so obviously he does silk like most people who are unhappy.
Win the battle to make him stay and lose the top 4 place because you have player who just doesn't care about Arsenal anymore only himself, he's given up on us and we should get the best money we can and buy the best replacement who does want to be here.
The man wants out because he's had enough so its best for everyone he goes.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 22:07:57
That's not the point G62 at all. He will play because that's who he is and he will want to play so that he is in the best possible shape and form for the World Cup for chile not because of fear he would not be picked. So what are you suggesting then G62? If there's no interest outside the EPL what would you do with him? Sell him to City? Are you off your nappa mate. If he goes there on a free that's not selling to city where is your honour are you even an arsenal fan? Bonkers.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 23:02:10
SLB, I do understand what you mean mate but how is it that we had Sanchez and still managed to lose out on top 4? I do know that sometimes individual brilliance is needed but I'm afraid I value team spirit more as without it there's no individual brilliance. We can still make top 4 without Sanchez I believe. I will always use Leicester as reference because, they BELEIVED and they made it happen. It's about time our players do likewise.

18 Jul 2017 23:49:18
80m for a player who is in his last year? Not a chance.

Not saying that Sanchez will definitely get us top four I'm saying we don't sell to city and that we will be stronger with him.

It sounds very much like Sanchez wants to leave with Man City his preferred destination. Once again rumours of a swop deal for Aguero persist, but having signed Lacazette I can't see Wenger signing Aguero. More likely is Lemar, Mahrez or similar.
We appear to have started clearing out our bloated squad, with Debuchy, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Chambers, Szczesny, Wilshere and Perez likely to go. Cambell also needs to move on, but I believe he has a long term injury.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

18 Jul 2017 10:37:54
I don't think aguero would join for a start. i'd take raheem but I know it wouldn't be a popular choice.

Hello all.
I'm losing the plot here. All this travelling has made me forget what time it is and what day.
It's mid day here in Shanghai on Tuesday 18 July we play Bayern tomorrow 8 pm here I think I'm 7 hours ahead.
So the latest on me and Arsene is this.
I was at the training session today and asked him about the Lemar situation and he said " Monaco now want more money so we offered a post dated cheque for 80 million and dated it for August 2020. "
He then went on to do one of his laughs. Went a bit like this " Ha haaaaa. Zay think I am stupeed. I know zem French peepal. Ve give zem 80 million and zay send him vith out his boots! " That's Wengers French accent. Basically he was saying that if he pays 80 million up front Monaco will send Lemar over with no boots to play in.
Yeah well what could I say he was still steaming from the bender he had on the plane over here.
I was having a quick kick around with Al Lacca as usual. We are getting on really well. He said to me that this transfer has been really good for him. He couldn't say for sure but it may be the humidity but he's cut down on the fags a lot. So much so he said that the duty free cigarettes he bought on the plane he's going to give them to Wilshire when he seees him. Evidently Jacks been asking the boys to bring some fags back for him.
Oh by the way! While in China Arsene had a new coat made had the zip altered to velcro. So all Steve Bould has to do is press it down for him.
I think I strained my calf today I was messing about with Theo showing him some moves. I flicked the ball up shouldered it over his head nutmegged Monreal then back heeled it over Petrs head in the net. As I turned I felt it go. Wenger said to go to see the physio I looked at him and said " Arsene! are you completely mad mate I need someone who knows what they are doing mate".
Anyhow I've sorted it there was a really helpful guy in the local chemist out here. Right result. All the boys are using him. Can't take no chances can they.
Well that's it for today. Game tomorrow.
Speak soon.

No sure I can stand hearing players like Sanchez saying their dream is to win the Champion's league and then use that as a pretext to force a move. Everyone in the world has dreams and most people's dreams come nowhere near realisation.
Professional footballers are already living the dreams of millions (if not a billion or more) of people. When is enough enough?
And if Sanchez had not thrown a tantrum around February Arsenal would still be in the Champions League.
Sanchez plays in a team and if the team failed last year he should share the blame and suffer the cost.
The guy is a prat as far as I'm concerned.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Jul 2017 08:21:08
So that's what caused out complete meltdown, Sanchez tantrum in February.
Nothing to do with Arsene's mistakes or other players being completely awful for large parts of the season then, that's just not true but as he's going anyway let's all play pretend again and cosy up for another season of non competitiveness.
Sanchez is leaving because Arsenal failed him not the other way round and we will never get any better if we keep kidding ourselves.

Agree2 Disagree3

18 Jul 2017 09:59:09
Let's accept our mistakes learn and improve on them.
Let's not make Sanchez the latest edition of Cole Fab and RVP who goes on to win titles after leaving Arsenal and we get a whole new villian to blame for our own inabilities.
Let's stop being those fans.

18 Jul 2017 10:14:56
Agree G62,
But, although Sanchez scored a lot of goals, it's a team game and responsibility should be collective.

He's a fighter? Than he should stay at Arsenal and fight to get us back into a title challenge and a CL spot.

If Sanchez had been our biggest problem last season Dags mate we'd have been champions let alone top 4.
Let's not keep looking for scapegoats let's thank Sanchez and move on that much wiser from our mistakes so as not to be the groundhog club anymore.
If only every player had let us down like Sanchez did last season :-)
