To 3434. No honestly mate it true. Well in fact it was Steve Bould that put Rooneys boots back on the shelf as Arsene wasn't convinced that Rooney would like them and then they started arguing again Arsene said something to Steve Bould about he is losing his barnet and should have a hair transplant then Steve Bould said something about Arsene Wengers frogs legs and with that Arsene walked out sulking. My mate couldn't hear the rest of it as he was serving Ronaldo at the time he came in for a Manchester United shirt.
You must have the same mate. as I heard the same story.
is your mate that short ginger guy who can't make up his mind too?
gingeritis also told me alex fergie will now be a referee, only for united home games though, and peter gill after his post with Uefa, will also be looking into the magic power of castle graceskull.
LMFAO that's classic sh*t right there Lakerville
This is brilliant :)

Hi eds banter please, I know united are linked but what do you think of alcatrana, amazing technique, and a big game player, anyone else have opinions?
Bergkp5353
Has he played in many big games?
18 Jun 2013 20:25:38
ive head all these stories about higuain tp arsenal and I would love it but also heard that we are going to bid for nani I wd not want him at arenal
Agreed. I think he is past his peak and we should be wasting money on him

If Mata is really on the outs, which is absurd, then please make the move Arsene
Where would be play at Barca?
I think Mata to Barca, who have Pedro, Alexis, Fab, Villa, Tello, Iniesta, Cuenca, Messi and a certain guy named Neymar, is a ludicrous rumor
And if it happens, hope he enjoys playing less than he does for Spain {Ed027's Note - He'd walk into Barca, front 3 of Neymar, Messi, Mata. Villa & Sanchez are available, Pedro and Tello would keep them on there toes, either Cesc/Thiago will leave imo, probably Thiago, Cuenca set for another loan
Would prefer Mata over cesc to be honest, but if mourinho is getting rid then our chances have gone up 200 % for next season as he has clearly lost the plot
Funny/strange thing is, a front 3 of mata/neymar/messi would be even easier to shut down, than the current front 3. Teams will just force them out wide, completely flooding the middle of the pitch, and then barcelona will just re-gurgitate their possession untill they lose it. teams with strong wing players (man utd, real madrid, barcelona) are far more threatening in my opinion.
Daniel, I understand what you say has logic, but how often have you seen, mata, neymar or messi get dispossessed?
those 3 muppeteers will ruin the CPL for me, for that reason alone I hope you are right. but I have a feeling if they are the front line, GOD save football and not the queen.
Its not about them being dispossessed though. No doubt they are exceptional. but you saw how chelsea shut them down in the CL, and bayern dominated them in this years CL. Teams have learnt to push them wide and then just let them play with it. If they put a cross in, nobody is there to get on the end of it. Barca with eto'o/ibra as a focal point, were so much more balanced.
18 Jun 2013 19:47:07
not said much lately but I must say if higuian fellani and cesar turn up I would be happy would love cesc but would take thiago as alternative
No way in hell Mata walks in to Barca 11 when Cesc can't
Last I checked Cesc started on the Spain frontline in the confed cup
Mata was an 81st min sub
Cesc started exactly where Mata would. First sub, OUR very own Santi
Not knocking Mata, I'd love him, Cesc is on another planet compared to him
Mata would be more a threat to pedro.
cesc is more an auxiliary part at barcelona, as xavi is still ticking. but xavi will be 34 in jan. and he's an injury away from cesc taking his spot for a considerable time.
they would have to sell tello and sanchez for mata to be of any use to them.
Cesc is preferred because he plays with the rest of the spain players for his club team, and del bosque still gives preferential treatment to spain based players. I wouldn't say cesc is SO much better than mata. but spain do seem to have an excessive amount of players who can all do the same thing in that position. lucky for them.
18 Jun 2013 19:31:00
think metal g misses the point. we have a 4 yr contract on a fantastic defender who will get even better mainly because he has pace on top of all other talents. so we don't need to sell and want to keep him. thus if any clubs want him then 15 million is a drop in the ocean not a 'jump at it offer'
18 Jun 2013 19:23:14
Don't be surprised to see Di Maria, Khedira and Higuain leave madrid. Their priority will be to retain Ronaldo. as I've mentioned before, he feels undervalued in terms of wages. 9m euros a year. this is less than Rooney, Rvp, ya ya toure, messi, david silva and carlos tevez. to name a few. Like most south American players, Cavani wants to join them. I am not the president of the club, but I doubt they can afford Isco on top of their other commitments. This is why I firmly believe we will get their Argentinian forward. 16 goals in 19 games is an impressive tally for a guy that didn't get a start every week. i'm started to get excited. km
18 Jun 2013 19:43:45
Just read on Marca, Cavanis release clause goes up to 63m euros from 53m euros from the 30th of this month. This could work in our favour. km {Ed027's Note - Not true
18 Jun 2013 20:09:24

Barcelona are mad if they let thiago go. And as I'm typing this he's just bagged his hat trick! I know we're overloaded with midfielders but wouldn't mind him at the arsenal. How much do you reckon he'd be ed? Or anyone?
SM1996 {Ed027's Note - The buy out clause in his contract, and Utd are very interested
If thiago stays if barca offer him 1st team football it could lead to fabregas coming back
Watford gooner
How much is that ed?
SM1996 {Ed027's Note - 18m Euro
That's a f***ing bargain! Cheers ed.
SM1996
Agree should be optimistic, first season for a long time more players been linked to come in and we have not yet sold our best players this year yet, and it still looks like we might have our captain at the club for more than 1 season unlike the last couple but curse of captain remains as tv5 unlikely to remain so, stay captain even if stays would like to see Jack captain but not until curse has been lifted. Plus with his own contract up for renewal I believe Wenger almost has to make BIG statement this year
Someone said that xavi highly rates thiago (everyone does. ). thiago looks like he has the pace/trickery/composure to overtake fabregas in their pecking order. would make sense to retain thiago and sell cesc.
18 Jun 2013 14:15:15
Wow. no big names leaving, deadwood being moved out, and quality players being brought in. I am very happy, but still feel like I'm dreaming.
Who are these quality players we've bought in?
SM1996
Think he is a city fan
1404
Uncalled for replys to that post. He's right to be optimistic, we all should. Next season has the feeling of being key to the future of Arsenal football club
What are you going on about arsenal forever? I simply asked what players we have brought in? I am optimistic that we will bring quality to the emirates!
SM1996
I agree with 'Arsenal Forever'. I think 'North Carolina Gooner' has a right to be happy with our situation at the moment. I know I am
3434
18 Jun 2013 19:49:18
Think he is rightfully optimistic. nothing wrong with that. I love the transfer window. let's hope wenger takes his credit card to Harrods and not the pound shop. km
She's Lebonese I think
I was referring more to the accusation that he's a city fan. While we haven't bought anyone at the moment, we all know the names that are flying around.
The statement of intent from the board and our new financial backing is showing the other clubs we are still a top European force.
All our rivals are going through periods of transition while we are probably at our most stable for a long time.
Its looking rosy boys, let's not hound those that believe ;)
Arse forever, every year we bandy around more names than Harry Styles's private life and hardly anything materialises. you more than welcome to call me out on anything I say as i'm a big boy and can take it! we have not signed anyone yet and that's fact, and City have and that my friend is also fact.

heard today rooney has agreed a deal for 27.5 mill including add ons and getting 200k a week but waiting for others to sign before he does second is that fellani has had contact but its not us that triggered his release but its at early stages so not a done deal yet and as we all know hig is at the final stage of signing just waiting on the new manager coming into real so if what I've bin told is true the 1st of july could be a good day for us all.
gunner dave
Two strikers in one window? Wenger if you pull that off, I will give you all my savings. £1. 20 to my name and my 3 arsenal jerseys, the most valuable one with the modification of the name Van P**sy.
Where have you heard this then. Do you have a link on a web site? which gives such information with regards to Rooney signing
18 Jun 2013 14:48:54
Don't believe a word. Rooney isn't coming, why ale things up. km
Is it just me or does anyone else not want rooney to join?
Podolski and Giroud are both strikers?
My friend is a football writer and a big gunner as well and she has a few contacts inside the club this is what she got told this morning from a reliable source also some bits about cece is his gf has bin turned down for a work permit and visa in spain and its looking like this could be a big factor in him coming back
gunner dave
Dave, your friend certainly told you a lot. Even about inside stuff from Spain.
Er what nationality is the gf? If she is British or Spanish she would need neither a visa nor a work permit as she is an EU citizen.
CECEGUaW
Daniella Semaan (Fabregas' gf) is Lebanese.
18 Jun 2013 21:21:47
Think she's Lebonese. but lives on london. if she has uk passport she will be ok. I believe she wasn't tied to a wealthy man before she meet Cesc in a Mayfair restaurant. Km
Spain will take a syrian rebel if he has a boat of cash on him.
i think there is no truth to the visa claim.
also everyone knows who cesc is, and I doubt she would have a visa rejected.
rich people don't get rejected.

I don't know a scout or claim to b itk. However after reading sanogos ( new striker ) quote about meeting Wenger in a Paris hotel. Could it mean that higuain meeting le boss in the Parisian hotel really did happen. Him, felliani, Forster and valbuena would do me

How can he be in Paris when he is buying football boots in a sports direct. player is in South America km
18 Jun 2013 12:59:54
I friend of mine has just seen Arsene Wenger in Sports Direct buying a pair of Adidas Adizero F50 hard ground size 9 and a half and a pair of Nike Mercurial Vapour boots size 10. He put another pair of Adidas back on the shelf he said to my friend that he didn't think Rooney was coming so he didn't want to waste money on a pair of boots for him because of Spotts Directs returns policy. But he thinks Higuain and Fellaini are ok.
What did I just read?

Hi Gunners fans!
Higuain seems to me closer! He wants to leave Madrid and reports says that he agrees personal terms with Arsenal.
Madrid president is trying to make best possible profits and asking for 25. 5 m£ while Arsenal offers 20 m£.
With Suarez insisting to leave liverpool and join Madrid and Cavani also wants a move to Madrid, there is no doubts that Higuain will be leaving and Arsenal is his destination while Juventus won't increase their offer. The deal will be announced once Ancelotti, Suarez and Cavani signs for Madrid.
I am starting to beleive Arsenal team will be a real title competitor next season!
I know real have money to buy all our 23 players, but surely cavani, suarez and that massive contract ronaldo is due to sign, should be in breach of FFP for them.

Reading some of the papers today looks like Kos is to stay which I feel is good news. Reports are that Vermaelen maybe on his way out though. Can't say that this surprises me I think it's more to do with the injury list he has accumalated since he has been at Arsenal which may have been the deciding factor if this rumour turns out to be true rather than his ability when he plays. Maybe a case of grab the money and run while we can. Who knows, but again we will be looking to replace him and I haven't read any decent rumours of players coming in for that position. What's the feeling about this?
I personally hope we keep him. Having Vermaelen as a 3rd choice centre back is not a bad position to be in at all. I would even be happy to see Wenger trial him in DM, as some have suggested on here. He certainly isn't our best centre back at the moment, but we should really be aiming to have squad players of at least his quality.
Oleg Maputo
I hope we keep him. when healthy, tv5 is a top defender. if he leaves bring in williams and maybe another I think we should have 4 CBs.
Trinidad-Gooner
We will have 5 mert, kos, verm, miq and this new young spanish lad from barcelona!

There is a lot of talk about Fellaini at the moment. Now, I don't know whether or not he will sign - that's up to AW, but I'm just wondering where he would play.
To me Fellaini is a great player but his best position is as an AMC, rather than a DMC. Last season he played 27 times as an AMC and scored 11 goals, whilst providing 5 assists. As a MC he played just four games.
His tackles per game was high for a player in that position at 2. 6 per game, but that is relatively low compared to one of our other targets.
If we look at Gonalons he played 33 times as a DMC, tackling at an average of 4. 4 times per game. Although he only scored three goals, his defensive contributions were invaluable to the team.
Capoue, in contrast, played 28 games as a DMC, scoring 7 times and providing three assists. Yet, Capoue is not as proficient at tackling, only wrestling opponents off the ball 2. 4 times per game, which is less than Fellaini manages.
So, for me, we would only be signing Fellaini as an AMC. I think that would improve the team, but I think that is one of our strongest positions, with Caz, Rosicky and Jack. Perhaps, AW wants to change Fellaini's game as he has done with Arteta.
Incidentally, anyone who wants takes Arteta out of their team for next year is mental. He was a beast again last season and tackled at 3. 2 per game, which is pretty great considering how he is adapting to this new role.
So for me next season, if we sign Fellaini I'd also like us to sign a DMC as well. If we had a midfield three of:
Arteta Gonalons
Fellaini
or
Arteta Ramsey
Jack
That's pretty strong and that's without putting Rosicky or Caz as AMC.
What do you guys reckon? Do we need Fellaini?
Sorry for such a long post,
Sally
A cheaper option to this issue is to buy Schneiderlin from southampton. Second only to Liverpool's Lucas this year in terms of def mid performance stats.
Sorry to intrude I often do statistical analysis on the liverpool page (which is down at the minute) and recently did analysis of DM position.
Nevada
I agree Arteta is a consistent performer, but its always the champions league, where his class is, how do I put this mildly ( they just run over him, as if he was in some sort of vegetative state)
Not that fellaini is proven in that competition, however we need to have a plan B and that's exactly what he does. How, when and where is wengers problem but I want him.
Rosicky, is more like a stand in player, Arteta is on the wrong side of 30.
Gervinho's hairstyle reminds me of my curtains at home.
Look I don't know what arsene needs, but all I know is I want to be greedy and buy as much as we can, so when its january, and 11 players are getting treatment for brittle bones, at least we have some ACTUAL QUALITY, players to count on.
Also prefer players who have not solidified their position in the national team, they get a platform and they will play like their life depended on it, to get on that plane to BRAZIL
If we sign fellaini and play him as a DM, it will be a repeat of alex song. he will venture forward often, and if we ever get caught on the counter with fellaini up-field, then he will take the blame for roaming out of position. We really need to sign a gonalons/capoue type, who will not roam around all the time. Fellaini is a good goal scorer and assit maker, but that's because he also likes to get attention for his performances. his hair-cut is a symbol for his personality. he won't cut it as an out and out DM, its not exciting enough.
He apparently said that he prefers the DM role more than CAM so that shouldn't be a problem.
we need a rotation in the midfield since we only play 3 midfielders, and arteta is not getting younger so fellaini slots into either arteta's or ramsey's position.
also bring in another CB (or 2 if tv5 leaves), a new RB if sagna leaves, and one or two forwards and I think we're set.
Trinidad-Gooner
I completely agree, time and time again I've seen post's on here saying fellani would be the ideal defensive mid cover we need, when actually by a mile he is best used as an attacking mid. far too attack minded. song got heavily criticized for being to attack minded. we need a dedicated dm. a makalele type.
sw18gooner
Great post! I strongly agree - I had suspected that Fellaini was slightly averse to the DM role and this evidence seems to support it. Of course challenges aren't everything, there is also interception rate, where Gonalons' is also significantly better than Fellaini's at 3. 1 a game. Capoue has 2. 6 and Fellaini 1. 2. The other thing to take into account is that attacking quality in French League probably isn't quite as good all-round as the Premier League, although there are some very good strikers.
Given his excellent defensive stats (significantly better even than Gundogan's), I would actually opt for Gonalons ahead of Fellaini - Fellaini is a much better all-round player but not so much what we need. Another great option would be Matuidi, whose stats are even stronger, but we don't seem to be linked with him at the moment.
Ideally I think we should leave the ACM position for Cazorla, get a proper DM alongside Jack, and perhaps invest in a new winger. I think Fellaini is great but not the best option for the roles we need: like you say, we have Cazorla, Rosicky, Ox etc who are best suited to Fellaini's strongest position.
In all I would say no, we don't need him. But he is a great player and would still add to the squad.
Oleg Maputo
18 Jun 2013 13:44:29
It's Gonalons for me but someone said the other day that it would be difficult, he has a contract until 2016, Lyon have qualified for the UCL and Clement Grenier who we are linked with also plays for them.
Ramsey/arteta/cazorla/rosicky/wilshere - they are 5 guys for 3 positions already, unless you want to play cazorla or rosicky on the left wing (out of position, despite cazorla being capable due to being a good footballer) - i'm all for signing a midfielder, but it will literally be at the expense of one of our players perhaps having to leave.
Yeah, I agree. I think Fellaini would be a great addition but I would rather we signed a really good DMC, and a great winger. This would allow Caz to play in the middle.
One option which hasn't been mentioned is Morgan Schneiderlin. He has played really well this year. He has played over 30 times as a DMC in the EPL, and has managed some great stats. He averages 4. 1 tackles per game and 3. 9 interceptions, with a pass success rate of over 85%.
I think AW might be quite into this guy, but that's only because he is French and is at Southampton who we have a good relationship with.
In my opinion buying a great DMC and an experienced keeper (Begavic, Cesar), who make us a difficult team to beat. We have conceeded far too many goals over the last few seasons but I think at the end of this year we saw a really good team developing.
Come on you Gunners,
Sally
18 Jun 2013 17:26:38
Hi sally. nice to see a women post. A good def mid has the ability to read the game. I've seen some good ones over the years but Vieira was the best I've ever seen. made Steve Gerrard look like a boy at times. the ability to break up play and move forward and put the opposition on the back foot with his long strides. I like the Dortmund player a lot, he will improve a lot in the coming years. The good thing about Fallani is his flexibility. Also the help he would offer to the defence at set pieces and the threat he would pose in the oppositions box. I really can't see Dortmund allow anymore players leave after losing one star player and struggling to hold another. This is one of the two major acquisitions we need along with a forward. No bargain basement here please Arsene. km
Not too sure about all these stats. they can be misleading as well as boring.
Never saw the tackle stats on Peter Storey but one was usually enough!
18 Jun 2013 11:32:40
Apologies if this is a daft question but if a release clause is met, is it 'legal' for another team to bid more and compete?
I am sure there are teams out there who will gladly offer more than Fellaini's release clause, so I just wanted to know if they are actually permitted to do that, or whether by having the clause, Everton can't accept more.
Thanks {Ed029's Note - If you search on the string "termination clause" you should find an explanation about the different clauses that one of the Eds wrote.}
The release clause just means that everton must accept any bid equal to it, then it is down to fellaini to choose which club he wants to go to. Even if someone bid higher than another club but both bids met the clause, they would both have to be accepted by everton. {Ed029's Note - You too need to read what the other editor wrote.}

I love the way the media put senseless hype on things!
"Arsenal BRACE THEMSELVES for Koscielny bids from Europe's elite" - quick, get to the bunker!
Honestly, the media is a joke. In reality what will happen is everyone will continue their typical daily activities, if we don't want to sell then we won't even consider listening to a bid, and when approached we can simply say 'he's not for sale'.
He's already killed these rumours by saying he's happy and staying in one of the papers. Think ball of fire giving light.
Well I applaud the media today, when I heard the Joe Kinnear interview, thoughts were just racing through my mind.
i dreamt up that Joe and peter over the hill wood, sat down and talked about players who retired 30 years ago, and kept pronouncing their names as fast food. like Yohan kebab today.
the funniest bit was him picking up the phone and talking to Alex and Arsene. I assume he is one the the regular ITK posters on this forum.

I really think the Rooney story was from the red tops. Cesc has already stated he is staying. There is an ongoing situation regarding his children. I loved him as a player but we have other prioritys. Forward, defensive midfielder and a keeper. Taking into account the layers Wenger has off loaded he will need to promote some players or buy a few to increase competition. A fully fit Wislshire we be great. I think the captain situation needs looking at. I think the bravest and best decision Wenger made last year was dropping Vermaelen who was the terrible in the spurs game. I think he was at fault for both the goals, plus the mistake at utd and Munich at home. Arteta is a fine player and would be the of natural successor. Wishire and Kos are two names that spring to mind when the Vice captain post is announced. I do think we lack an Adams or Viera type leader. I didn't think Cesc or Henry were great captains. saying that, there's not an obvious leader in the team. The other no personal issue that concerns me is the fact we only seem to be up for the big games. spuds, utd Chelsea. and drop the performance against Sunderland and other lesser teams. Thought we should of beat utd home and Chelsea away. km
Actually we were good against the weaker teams and struggled mightily against city, utd, chelsea
18 Jun 2013 09:46:37
If we sign higuain, fellani, cesar and one or too others and don't lose any key player we might actually have a chance of silverware. Would say its abit optimistic to challenge for the premier league, but FA cup wouldn't be out of reach. As a due hard arsenal fan for many years I would just like to be cheering something come to the of the season and not be happy at the fact we qualified for champions league. We are without a shadow of a doubt a top for team and the potential is there to challenge for silverware we just need to buy some cutting edge top class players to be able to do this. Roll on the transfer window. Hopefully there will be a lot to smile about come the start of the season and with abit of luck have something in the cabinet of the end.

If city or Chelsea get Cavani they will be a force. Isco is a class act. Chelsea will be a better defensive team and city will play with more width with YA YA PUSHING FORWARD MORE. Km
18 Jun 2013 10:18:02
We need to do better against the top teams. We are a force when we play the game with a high tempo. do think we lack quality on the wide areas if he pitch. Theo is inconsistent out wide. Went quite for 5/6 games after he got his contract and picked up on the last 3/4. Think the ox is a better supplier to the front man. but he needs games. km
18 Jun 2013 09:43:49
Agree with KM. If Ferdinand worth 30 million 11 years ago. and Kos on a 4yr deal plus age etc then someone would need to break the world record for a defender to even be in with a sniff but if all the words by Arsenal Officials are true about ambition it would still be a resounding NON! from AW
Totally agree- we don't need to sell- so why should we? Unless it is a very good price AND wenger uses that to 'upgrade' on Kos with a top class CB- anything else would be frankly stupid and just the usual policy of making money in the transfer market, whilst weakening our team.
LG
It's not really about what X was worth 10 years ago etc etc.
Man U paid over the odds because at the time they felt nobody was better. Doesn't mean he was worth that money then.
Koscielny performs on average like a £15-£20m player, max. If he were to have consistency then it would rise. He was awful in his first season, all potential nothing else. In his second season he was world class, because he was consistent, but then he was dropped. He's not been allowed the same game time this year but he saved our season again. Maybe if he plays all year next year and at the standard of this and last year, we can talk about £30m+ but let's not go mental right now folks!
18 Jun 2013 13:22:23
A Curley haired Chelsea defender cost them 25 m and he can't defend. B. munich got a centre half For 4m from hamburg. it's what a team is prepared to play. Hummels is a good defender but doubt they would allow another top player leave. km
Indeed, consistency is the key. Ferdinand was an absolute bargain at 30 mil all those years ago, but that's only because of how consistently amazing he has been for Manchester United over the years. we can see the talent in kosc, but he needs to show it for 90% of a season without fail.
18 Jun 2013 09:40:50

Probably a fake, but on closer inspection there is a very slight chance it is real! Normally they just plonk the head on someone else's body, but who's body is it? That is a tradition unveiling photo. Mertesacker? He was unveiled with the old kit! Giroud? He has tattoos! Obviously not Cazorla! Defo not podolski? I am certainly bein optimistic, but I am still swayed towards a fake!
Fingers crossed though!

Can anyone tell me (Eds if you have the time). Is Podolski injured. I am sure that towards the end of last season there were several references to him having an op in the close season. no sign of anything on the website devoted to injuries. thanks for any info
It was said he would undergo surgery, however did he not travel with the german team?

There is talk arsenal want Asier Illarramendi spanish under 21s, looks verygood on youtube he is a defensive midfielder, also there is talk that higuian has agreed to sign for us 150,000 a week just sorting out the price between clubs. hope this is all true because they are both verygood and will fit stright right in our style of play.
This report is in the Daily Mail, so I would give it some credibility.

On tvNews just now. Arsene is getting more confident over getting Higuain for reported 22mill.
Unusual for a direct quote from AW unless it's happenning or unless it is a complete hoax/misdirection by AFC.
