I don't think the 3rd place team having a better than even chance of progressing has helped the Euro's get off to a flying start but I'm still enjoying it and think it will turn out to be an excellent tournament.

For me, the tournament starts at the Semis.
Most things start to get interested at the Semi stage.

Just to add my two bobs worth whilst basking in the sun watching the Ireland game.

Would love a player like Vardy. People keep saying would he suit our style? Of course he could. We created almost most scoring chances last year, would we have converted more if Vardy was up front? Big yes, just look at the England goal the other day. As for Morata and Ollie. As G62 says is he any different. Not much. I wonder how Ollie would do playing for Spain?

Olly playing for spain? He will still manage missing 80% of there chances, unlike morata.

Could be media bs but apparently we are chasing stirridge now, if true then that is frantastic. I know he's had injury issues but when fit he's close to world class.

If true it's fantastic news and if there's its also true Liverpool have any interest in Theo its super fantastic news.
Sturridge for Theo plus cash would be great as even given Danny's injuries the worse case scenario we'd be swapping a player who is only available for 50% of the season but seldom delivers even when fit for a player who is only available for 50% of the season but almost always delivers when available.
Theo was a Liverpool fan before joining us and a move might be the making of him too, its all a very very long shot but it might just work Chuck :-)

Oh dear fellas don't be so desperate

"Daniel sturridge when fit is close to world class"
Are you having a laugh?

He's average at best and a very selfish player, he's at ronaldo's level on selfishness il give you that lol ;)

He had one good season and that's it. Overrated mate.

18 Jun 2016 17:24:34
At Liverpool his scoring he's played 69 and scored 43 at Bolton he played 12 school scored 8 and even at Chelsea and city where he was played outwide his record was much better than most.
Desperate JE? I'd say we desperately need him way or someone equally as prolific if we hope to compete with the best mate.
We have to get ready made if we hope to keep both Sanchez and Ozil as they won't waste their best years waiting for us to get it right one day.

18 Jun 2016 17:45:11
I'm not sure why I typed he was at school when he scored for Bolton, he was young bit not quite that young:-)

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 17:47:39
I understand G that on paper he looks pretty prolific but stats aren't everything mate, everyone slating giroud (myself included) but his stats aren't the worst.

Sturridge is made of the same glass fabrication as our very own Jack, why waste a penny on a 5 game a season player, even klopp has torn the back out of him.

We certainly need to be aiming a lot higher if we are to keep both players you mention happy mate.

18 Jun 2016 15:17:27
If Liverpool come in for Walcott, I would love to sign Sturridge as part of the deal. Benteke is also one I would consider signing.

Agree0 Disagree2

18 Jun 2016 18:40:11
We need to Ballance what we need with who we can get JE mate, is Sturridge a gamble? Yes but only because of his fitness which if you take a look at his and Jacks injuries records they are very different,
Vardy and Sturridge are premier league proven goal scorers who we have a realistic chance of getting while Aguero is a fantasy football target only and the likes of Lewandowski and Higuain will have clubs willing to pay wages and fee's way beyond our limits.
Sturridge and Vardy will both score lots of premier league goals next season I'd like them to be for us mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 19:27:42
I think a move would be as good for Theo as it would for us RG mate, we are going nowhere together but some sort of deal with Liverpool involving Sturridge might work out well for all concerned.

Thanks for bringing me back down to earth G ; (

I dream big mate and with players like ozil and Alexis why wouldn't worldys want to come n play for us, in the richest most entertaining league, on the carpet that is the Emirates, under one of the best managers in the world n challenge for the biggest trophys.

I know money talks but a CF is the position we should be looking to strengthen the most and poor most of our dime into. We could challenge the big guns £ wise according to gazidas (spelling)

Would you sign both vardy and sturridge?

18 Jun 2016 19:39:10
I. m. o Sturridge is "world class when it works"

He's a selfish player, many have said this. Not specifically in a negative context, just he kind of is.

When his individual moments work, like for England the other night (not just the goal either) , it looks brilliant. He gives the attack a ready outlet. However, for me he's easily isolated, especially when not playing with a striking partner.

He doesn't hold the ball up well and has an injury record to rival Jack's. He just can't be relied on to be an option each week, especially if he played for arsenal. Everyone loves to kick us off the pitch.

Sorry JE didn't mean to burst your bubble mate and when all said and done its only my opinion which has been known to be less than reliable on more than one occasion, if it helps when the media first linked us to Mesut I laughed it off as a non starter:-)
Yes mate I'd gladly take both if we could get them, Ozil Sturridge Vardy and Sanchez with Olly on the bench :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 20:19:30
Jegooner are you blind lol sturridge is great in every department, only problem is that also includes a and e department. When fit he is class on grass and is not frightened to score.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 22:56:24
Your forgiven then G lol

Don't get me wrong yes I know he has moments of brilliance but he tries these moments of brilliance all the time n 1/ 10 it comes off and he'll do it when a teammate has a tap in n all that's needed is a square ball but he'll try a rabona flick over the keepers head n miss.

Better than Theo yes but nit the answer to our prayers

ste I just don't see it mate, Suarez would make any strike partner look amazing, as soon as he left then you saw the real Daniel Sturridge, he can't do the lone striker thing very well.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 10:17:42
JE take another look mate, seriously he has been scoring goals to fun his whole career mate, city Chelsea Bolton and Liverpool he has produced the goods evey time, his injury problems came after the last world cup with happened to coincide with Saurez leaving mate that's all.
If we can get a better proven natural goal scorer than Sturridge fantastic let's do it :-) but the thing I don't won't to see is us trying to convert someone into a goal scorer or chase unrealistic targets that come to nothing again this summer.
Get the best we can possibly get but whatever happens we mustn't start the season with Olly ad Theo or some bloke who useed to be a left back but moved into the DM position before becoming a winger who we feel with enough time and effort can become the next Henry ( possibly:-)

As in lfc fan would hate to see sturridge go to Arsenal as the only risk would be keeping him fit. Besides that he'd be the perfect striker for Arsenal.

His hold up okay may be lacking but as shown against Wales he is brilliant at playing one twos in and around the box to create chances (which is something Arsenal do more and better then any BPL team) . He has pace, technique, great control, clinical finishing and can set up goals.

He also doesn't just finish of small teams, has scored regularly against United, scored in the Europa league final, World Cup, euros, against Chelsea, city and a few against you.

If you can keep him fit he would score goals for fun, consider his record for LFC and the standard of his team mates around him (barring that one season) . Imagine Ozil setting up the chances for sturridge he did for girouid? Then add Sanchez, Ramsay, cazorla, etc, he would get at least 20 a season. Plus if you kept girouid would have a plan b and decent back up striker. hope it doesn't happen and pray if it does Walcott isn't involved!

i think he'll get us goals G it's his injurys and uber selfishness that turn my head away mate, I know my expectations of getting the best of the best may be unrealistic mate lol I'm a dreamer.

What would be your top 5 realistic striker targets mate?

Seeing us linked with the forgotten Jovetic again :)

Ro you are doing a great job of selling him to us, the guy with a good run and n injuries could become anything.

In regards to our central defence i think Virgil Van dijk from the saints would be a perfect fit. Saints are in limbo with koeman gone. so arsene should pounce and sign a proven premiership defender who is good with his feet as he is with his head and has a knack of scoring. Him and koscienly would be a strong pairing along with xhaka will give us some height and power. Plus he isn't at the euros so he will not have his price exaggerated.
Upfront is our achilles. giroud will have 2 or 3 good games then go awol for 10.i would keep walcott as back up to a new striker and use walcott wide right predominately. if walcott can get fit and stay fit with a good run in the team he will bang in the goals. He is out of the england picture and has something to prove. Regards a new striker i think vardy will stay at leicester. morata with his goals last night will be priced out for wenger. I would go for the dutch fella Jansen or a cheeky offer for sturridge who will want champions league footie. We are a centre half and striker short from winning major honours.

Not long to wait to find out now Willy, I read yesterday that the price had gone up from 20m to 30m because the deal wasn't done by June the 3rd :-)
There will be lots of stories yet mate but personally I think the deal is already done or we've moved on already as it's difficult to think we are just sitting and waiting patiently.

I too feel we've wrapped up the move already.
However, I doubt Wenger will sign a CB.
