The most amazing stat I saw is that's the first time England have scored more than one goal in 10 games since 2006!

Apparently Tunisia set a new record too last night, they are the first team to complete every known wrestling move on one player in the same game, which explains why VAR didn't spot them as it's only designed for football.

Time to push a couple of buttons. Got to ask do people think it's necessary to have a tall bruising defensive midfielder anymore in the shape of Gilberto Silva or Nzonzi? Maybe I'm slaving to world cup hype but after watching the double pivot of Guardado and Herrera agaisnt Germany I'm starting to think a midfield pair of Torreira and AMN might be the way to go, even against the physical sides such as your Manchester United's/ Cardiff's next season. Opinions?

Xhaka and Torreira or Torreira and Ramsey will be fine. Even Xhaka, Torreira and Ramsey in a midfield 3 would be ideal too :)

My favorite 'defensive' style player presently is Kante. Completely opposite to tall and bruising. So much energy and bite, reading the game well and moving the ball quickly. A double pivot of AMN and Toerreira could be great, and being honest, i'd find that more exciting than N'Zonzi.

Trouble is 77 where do you find another Kante mate?
To play cmf you've got to have an engine be prepared to do as much to stop goals as well as create and score them and of course be able to tackle is a must. Sorry but the closest thing we have to ticking all those boxes currently is Elneny and most of us consider him a squad player.
We need energy and commitment as well as ability in the middle if we are ever going to be competitive again. I don't think physical size matters as much as the size of a players will to give everything to win, staring with not conceeding.

Yes we need a tall strong midfielder to play with (if he comes) torreira. Our midfield last season with the players we played were flakey at defending. let's tighten the job up and allow the attackers do their job. AMN could be the answer next to him but until he has a few games we won't know that he is up to it. When we were away from home, players like xhaka, wilshire, elneny, ozil and ramsey were toothless and they are not going to magically improve that side of their game. We have too many flakey players and we need a bit of bite in the midfield to allow the flair players to get on with their job. Also a bit of size helps in both boxes.

Kante his best game I feel is next to someone who holds aka a matic and he goes to hunt people down.

18 Jun 2018 17:00:06
He does indeed Derby mate, Kante brings everything to the table, he hunts destroys creates and even scores the odd goal too, I don't care what VAR says there is always two of Kante on the pitch in every game.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2018 17:12:03
Kante, quite rightly Derby plays usually next to a destroyer and is then allowed to go about his business.

We have been crying out for a tall, athletic defensive midfield player since the trophy-winning days of Vieira, Petit and Gilberto.
Assuming Emery uses his 4-2-3-1 formation, the pairing of Torreira and Nzonzi would prove quite formidable and will finally give the back four the protection they require.

Coq was our successful recent battering ram, nzonzi would be a bigger influence because of his size and ability, an upgrade.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 19:19:34
For me Nzonzi is very much like Fellaini, not so much as in style but the fact that on their day they can be unplayable and a real pain. But those days are far and few between. I think if Fellaini played In Spain he would also look better. Like kongogbia he looks good in Spain .

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 20:39:51
Fellaini, has to be played right, in the right position and the right team, he is like a battering ram in the opposition box, where as nzonzi is a protection for the defence. Fellaini in his best position isn't required by us but nzonzi or his type is. They don't have to be fancy just effective.

Apparently Arsenes criticism of Xhaka and our new RB are completely untrue and are simply fake news
Apparently Arsene never said the words on TV he is being reported to have said on some websites.
Hit seekers strike again by the sounds of it.

Apparently it's been reported on all over the place Steve mate but never actually happened at all, per fabrication from one source that simply spread everywhere in a few hours.

Haha! 😂 Surely if it was meant to be televised, the next to run the story would of at least searched for it first to see it themselves! Madness that random stuff can be made up with no repercussions. If they are going to make something up they could of been a bit more imaginative! 😂.

{Ed001's Note - I watched what he said at half time and it was twisted. He said Lichtsteiner was too slow, but to cope with Marcelo and Neymar running at him. I understood it as him criticising Shaqiri for not helping to protect him. I can't even remember what he said about Xhaka, but it certainly was not like he dug him out at all or I would have remembered it.}

18 Jun 2018 16:23:48
Thanks Ed for the insight.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is one of those things were someone twists a non-story to turn it into a story. It is quite sad how the internet does this.}

18 Jun 2018 16:34:54
Ed, that's usually how it works. Like people have said, they weren't particularly good, so it is the way to twist the intention and distort what was really said and how it was meant.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it seems like the only 'news' these days being reported is either twisted comments or clickbait lies.}

18 Jun 2018 17:04:13
Unfortunately the fake media know what people want to hear or fear hearing and then provide it, truth and fact are totally irrelevant.
Arsene slagging off anything Arsenal related gets hits.

Eden, i think he might be, it didn't end the way he wanted it too. But at the end of the day, he and us will get over it, when Dick gets us firing again. i'm sure if we start doing well again wenger will be one of our biggest supporters.

How can a chant be insulting but not intended to offend? 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am glad I am not the only one confused by that. I guess they are trying to suggest it is like when you call your mate a name. What they seem to be forgetting is that 20,000 strangers shouting abuse is not the same as you calling your mate an idiot.}

18 Jun 2018 09:17:06
Especially 20000 people shouting it at someone on the other team who is almost certainly not mates with any of them!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - exactly. Just shows how out of touch with reality CAS is!}

18 Jun 2018 09:42:59
Docking points and eventually banning countries from competitions is the only way to stop it happening. Fines are useless.
Ultimately each country is responsible for its citizens behaviour and each FA for its fans.
Obviously you can't control what every individual does but 20,000 of your citizens behaviour is your problem.

I also agree that it’s an odd statement! But been offended is subjective. I’d get offended if someone refused to eat a meal that I spent time over or a carefully chosen gift that was declined! Not taking your shoes off in someone house is deeply offensive to some cultures. I’d never dream of doing certain things that other cultures would do for fun!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - good point.}

18 Jun 2018 16:06:43
Good point Sanago but surely then it comes down to respecting others views and feelings too.
We all know people from all walks of life and some you can you can swap proper banter with while others are easily offended.
PC is crazy in the UK right now but there also has to be a line drawn between what is acceptable banter and unacceptable harassment.

What I’m saying G62 it is easy to say that when you have been brought up in a set environment like we have in the uk and judge others by it. To some people not been able to express themselves is offensive. Don’t ever forget that with all best free will the best of us have levels of programing that make it impossible to see the other side. As it is I agree about homophobic chanting if that’s what it was! But I’ve been brought up with my teachers, the media and most my peers saying it’s wrong, so to me it is! A lot of my older family members think the other way! So be it that’s how their parents thought and that’s how society programmed them back then.

I totally agree with that Sanago mate, a huge part of tolerance and acceptance is accepting that some who grew up in a different age aren't so capable of change.
We can't and have no right to tell people how to think and feel but everyone needs to accept a changing more tolerant is happening even if they don't always agree with it.
