Ed (any Ed), is Jovetic in any way a genuine possibility?

Would love to see him don the red and white of Arsenal, in my opinion he's got the movement and confidence infront of goal to play the lone striker role despite being more of a 'number 10' naturally. {Ed027's Note - yes intrest is very genuine

hi ed, what's the possibility of a move for jovetic in the summer? {Ed027's Note - if we get CL expect a Marquee signing, he's one of the names being thrown around

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Jovetic is keen on the move he tried to get him in january but didn't happen due to valuation and arsenal not willing to pay up due to it being jan but most definate have big interest in jovetic

rumours that song wants out of the catalans? and wants to come back? any truth in it? also rumours that wenger has said no to him and will chase wanyama instead, reply would be appreciated. thanks! {Ed027's Note - don't know about song, he's not getting games, but he's getting paid, also remember we choose to sell song, rather than song wanting a move, his behaviour was too much. Wanayama will move in the summer, we are intrested but so are Man City

Ed; there are constant rumours that arsenal are seriously interested in jovetic, and have sent a scout to watch him closely till the end of the season. any truth to this? {Ed027's Note - yes

Believable1 Unbelievable1

18 Mar 2013 17:16:38
Any of the ed can reply it.
Ed do you see arsenal making bids for plyers like geotze jovetic and isco. thanx {Ed027's Note - yes i do, i see one marquee signing

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Making a bid, and making a bid with the genuine intention of buying a player, are two different things entirely. Arsenal won't be doing the latter anytime soon, when it comes to a player of high value such as gotze or isco. If you think this summer will be different, your in for a big dissapointment.

Agree8 Disagree3

Really Ed? Only marquee signing in last 5 years was Arshavin. I can see failed bids and interest though.

Detroit Gooner {Ed027's Note - we have money too spend, and a good signing will boost shirt sales etc. win win

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed in your opinion if there was to be a marquee signing who do you think it would be? Not who you want but who arsenal may look to get.
Waq {Ed027's Note - Wenger loves Goetze, but he could cost too much, Jovetic look's the most likely, if we sort our negotiation team out expect a someone like Jovetic and then 4/5 others

Agree0 Disagree2

Ed gotze is still on our radar he has release clause in which we may consider we have bidded in the past club was not keen to sale CL football will be a big factor in anything arsenal will do arsenal has 75-95mil spare cash (qualifying for cl is dependant in them sums) but we are looking at quality and not scared to spend

A Blue fan here in peace.

Basically English football has dominated all over in Europe and English teams have proved that they are not easy to go by. but recently things seems to have been turn down a little.

Last season in the champion's league, 2 English teams got their boot kicked out of the group stages - Man City and Man United, but Arsenal progress to the next stage and got eliminated. Chelsea made it to the final and won it through some individual brilliance and luck.

This season has not been an exception, 2 English teams got their boot kicked in the group stages - Man City and Chelsea, the other two only made it to the next stage but got eliminated including the current premier league leaders Man United and Arsenal.

Is already quarter final in this seasons champions league and we have 3 Spanish teams standing, 1 Italian team, 2 German team, 1 French team and 1 Turkish team standing but no English team to be found.

In the past seasons, out of the 4 teams who made it to the semi final of the champions league you could find at least 2 teams from England among them, even 3 teams used to made it that far.

During this seasons ballon d'or, FIFA named its first eleven players and surprisingly all the players are from the Spanish league.

So the multi million question am asking is that, HAS ENGLISH FOOTBALL LOST IT QUALITY?

Sorry for the long post and bad English

Blueprint

Believable10 Unbelievable0

Personally I think all this talk of english teams falling behind is just rubbish.
look at the draws arsenal and Man United had. not just that but were unlucky not to get through, it was a case of lucky goals conceded in first leg for arsenal, and poor ref in Man United case. the results in both these ties could have been soo different so easily.
i bet next season english teams will dominate once again,
and believe arsenal are going to have a very very good season.

I have been looking at chelsea fixtures and it looks to me that we have got a game in hand over them. There must be a mistake in the league table as it shows that they have 9 games left when according to there fixture list they only have 8 games left. Does anyone know who is right. {Ed027's Note - we both have a game in hand

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Very good spot I just checked on tv and on the Cfc websites which say they have 8 remaining fixtures but the table says they have only played 29. Weird anyway hope we do have a game in hand against them, maybe one is still to be scheduled because of a clash with the fa cup or something?

Agree0 Disagree0

Same with Man City's. so must be to do with the semi-final

Agree0 Disagree0

They have played 29 games, totaled up there wins, loss and draws so no game in hand over them : (

Hi Ed

one question is in my head for some time - why AW is not starting LP? he has stored 14 goals and is much better finisher as well. deadly left foot? is it injury or what? if if he is injured then why name him in subsitutes? playing 20 mins ir so will increase chance of a long term injury. I will take LP anytime uf he is fully fit. he also help the left back as well. will take LP (left midfielder/LW). what do you think? any other opinions are also welcomed? Is anything fisshy? {Ed027's Note - he was injured, he's back now

A lot of arsenal rumours in the papers today, one of them says that Mertesacker could be offered a move back to Germany by Wolfsburg. Would you be happy to sell him and what sort of offer would you say was good?

Believable5 Unbelievable4

5mil is good to be honest

Agree2 Disagree10

Why does mertesacker get so much stick he has been our best defender!

SM1996

Agree20 Disagree4

This is tough for me. Mertesacker (like Arsenal in general in recent times) is up and down.

His performances suffer dramatically when partnered with Vermaelen, whereas whe he has Koss the Boss next to him he dominates.

The truth is: he's too slow, but reads the game exceedingly well.

With this in mind, I would love him as a second option, but we have 3 cb all at an equal level. If we bring in a top CB, who does he partner with?

In short, 5m is too low, but 10-12m I'd snap yer hand right off!

I'd love to see a truly elite CB at the club, like Hummels, but the truth is that a CB is only as good as the understanding he has with his back line.

How's that for a long-winded response to a simple question?

Agree2 Disagree0

I think Mert and Kos are perfect complements

Kos reads the game the best and Mert is a true leader at the back

Agree7 Disagree0

Keep him and partner him properly

Kos at the side of him

Lots of experience to show the youngsters

SY4

Agree6 Disagree0

I like the big german and think arsen uses him in the wrong games, ok so he is abit slow but his reading of the game is good and with kosc he is better than being with tommy next to him

After saturday, I don't think anyone should panic about wilshere being out for longer. We probably should have expected this given his injury history. I am only hoping that he can return for pre-season to captain the squad next year. Santi obviously needs to play in the middle, he makes more of a difference in the advanced central role. I think we may have a new back 4, although I anticipate that monreal will be moved forward as Wenger seemed interested in the idea. I don't really know why people say that the ox isn't ready. He may not always impress on the wing but when he dribbles through middle he is just as terrifying as wilshere to the opposition, especially when considering his speed and ability to shoot at range (only a foot off on each shot from earning a double). He does need more time, but he plays with confidence and energy. I would have to say I'm really tired of seeing mikel arteta play, he is literally just an older joe allen. I thought that even diaby with his poor performance on saturday made more of a difference in the game. I feel that we can keep this momentum going, and I really just want to see arsenal take control of the game when we play man united.

a web site stating wilshere out for upto 6 weeks, eds?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

He will be out for the season.

Agree9 Disagree2

If its the same website I'm thinking of they have now removed the time of 6 weeks and it says facing a battle to play again this season.

Agree2 Disagree0

Part of me thinks its media bs but we all know arsenals medical staff are friggin useless! see what afc.com puts up officially.

Agree2 Disagree0

Whick ankle has he injured? In Wenger's interview I thought he said it was the other ankle to before but all other sources say its the same one.

Agree0 Disagree0

I recently watched a documentary on a basketball player called Sam Bowie who was drafted ahead of MJ23. Anyway he had a stress fracture to his tibula which he never recovered from fully and he actually broke it twice and the other leg once as a result of this injury. I know this fracture and willshere's are completely different but I sincerely hope this fracture doesn't plague willshere's career, I just have this sinking feeling it will always affect him somehow.

Agree3 Disagree0

A club spokesman has vehemently denied this rumour that came from a web site which comes up with a lot of sh!te now and again. Should there not be a recurrence, then he has a chance for the game at Reading.

Guys what do you think of gaston Ramirez I think he could be an alternative to isco and goetze as they could be out of our price range

Believable3 Unbelievable7

Rather raid southampton for sneiderlin. very combative and scores crucial goals.
iwarutis

Hes decent

Agree0 Disagree0

Neither are for sale. Both good young players with a great future and love playing for the new manager.
Why would they want to move to a club which is on the way down, and the manager likely to leave in the summer?

Agree1 Disagree5

Why would they want to leave Southampton for Arsenal? I don't know - maybe to play in a fantastic stadium, in Europe with better footballers? any footballer who wouldn't leave Southampton to join Arsenal has no ambition!

I thought we looked really up for it against Swansea. let's get behind Wenger & the team for the remainder of the season. I would love to finish above the Toot & see them fail to qualify for the Champions league, yet again.

with the spurs losing it gives us more impotece to push forward and go for the top 4. the international break won't help the momentum but atleast it will give jack the time to recover.
im glad wenger has decided to get hardine with his complacent team. but as usual with wenger it is too little too late to make an impact - if he had that mentality at the start of the season- who knows what could have happened.
a major concern to me at arsenal is the midfield, they seem to ball watch and expect the ball to come to them, they will not look for space or make a run and expect the player on the ball to pass to a standing player, this mentality could cost us, you see other teams closing down and looking for space, just look at swansea someone is always available, they definitely need to look at that in training.
i don't know how the rest of the gunners feel but to me arteta has lost a yard of pace and is making stupid errors, he is leaving the midfield wide open for attack. I know he is an attacking mid, but I think teams are using this as a weakness to break right through the middle - it worked great last season but wenger should have used that as a short fix, and mended it this season.
in the run in we definitely need a strong back 4 and defensive mid - we cannot afford to make mistakes and must defend as a team and concentrate the full 90. atm the defence is picking itself bar the left back (either is fine), it was a brave move to drop szecs and verm but it has worked - kosci and merti seem more commanding and confident, jenko has found his early season form and I think its au revoir to sagna. fabiankski is a short term fix, I think eventually szecs will be no 1 but next season he needs to learn from a experienced top keeper like a cesar or valdes.
our main worry is our midfield wthout a recognized defensive mid it is our achilles heel. who do we have - coquelin (not enough game time, but probably the best of the bunch) diaby ( to injury prone and too much ball watching)frimpo (on loan) or do we use the verminator as a makeshift mid and defensive backup. I would try gibbs as a left winger which would make our left side solid defensively and attacking wise. it would also give podolski the chance to play upfront.
this team has an opportunity to redeem itself to the fans don't let us down boys

Believable7 Unbelievable1

I don't think the international break will help Spurs either. As that loss will linger for longer and more self doubts may arise within the players and AVB. When you loss a game you want the next game to come quick to put things right and now they have to wait 2 weeks.

Who knows we may get even luckier and Bale may get injuired while on International Duty, in comparsion we will have Wilshire rested fresh and ready for a return.

Agree a Proper Defensive minded midfielder must be first priority in the transfer window. All good teams have that reliable sheild in front of the back 4. Even attacking teams like Madrid and Barca.

Agree6 Disagree1

I think arsene tried to get vertonghen in as a midfielder and he's proven he can score this season with 8 goals! we certainly need a defensive mid is the priority. song apparently wants to leave barca already after making I think its 3 appearances since the start of the year. but obviously there are a lot more players for cheaper, wanyama, capoue, strootman, diame and there's the classic promote from within but this time we don't have the capability to do so, frimpong doesn't seem to care about football when he can shout 'DENCH' with leathal bizzle. don't know what happened to craige eastmond. another defensive mid is pedro obiang

If Arsenal's the 6th richest club in the world, where's the money going because surely we have the funds to sign top-class players? Is most of it going toward paying off the Emirates construction?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

And people have the cheek to call Nasri selfish and money grabbing, maybe if the board was less selfish and money grabbing and reinvested money into the club then payers like Nasri would still be at Arsenal.

Agree9 Disagree3

Who disagrees with a question? A request for information and someone's sat there thinking 'no I disagree with that question' it's a question ffs. we truly live in a crazy world,
in other news 1404 can only hope the cash has gone to cancelling the debt and not on statues and new websites but in answer to your question, I'm not sure and neither do I really want to know just in case I don't like the answer. like when you ask you're new girlfriend if you are the best lover she has had and after a long pause she says you are in the top 50 for sure.

1404

Agree6 Disagree3

1404, c'mon hardly a comparison. Yes agreed they have been tight with spending, but you cannot blame them for taking 20 odd million for Na$ri who would not sign a new deal after 6 months of good play, can you?

I bet Citeh would love to get half that for him now!

Agree3 Disagree0

I thought the wage cap was wenger's idea, no?

Agree0 Disagree1

Why does everyone automatically think if a player goes from any club to city it's for money and not to actually further their short career. Who wouldn't leave the company they are at right now to go to a competitor for 2-3 times your current wages??

Maybe just maybe Nasri was feed the same bull**** we were and that's why he left, infact maybe Nasri has got integrity and thought ' do you know what, I was sold an idea on what Arsenal were going to do and it's not materialised so no I'm not going to sign a new contract’

I'm going to say this and stand by it until the day I die, anyone who has a bigger problem with what Nasri did rather than other players that have left in the past is a ******* person

I don't actually see what Nasri did wrong at all? I ve said it before and still do, if he wanted to, come back I would go and collect him myself

1404

Look football is not like anything else. you can change your wive, disown your kids and even hate your parent. but you don't support another club. Fact.

so the emotional attachment outweighs any other criteria.
