Reports that Luis Enrique would prefer to manage Arsenal over Chelsea.
Thoughts on Enrique as a replacement for Wenger.

I don’t really know much about coaching but having managed and won things at Barcelona working with those big egos and been successful then he has to be worth a shout. You could easily argue the other way and say he had it on a plate .

{Ed001's Note - he would certainly be entertaining as his press conferences were bizarre. He comes across as a few sarnies short of a picnic. Actually, sometimes it seems like all he actually has is Google Maps directions to the local park but he calls that a picnic. In the 6 months I was in Spain, the only thing of real interest in the football coverage there was (well other than Neymar's 'singing' career) his conferences. I was very surprised they never got more coverage in England once I had them translated to me. I guess no one else had a bloody clue what on earth he was on about either!}

With the changes been made to backroom staff and the infrastructure been implemented that you have alluded to before could he be the type of person arsenal would look at.

Sounds like Tony Adams at Portsmouth, I couldn't make head nor tail of what Tony was talking about during his interviews and press conferences and his players obviously had the same problem on the pitch as none of them seemed to have a clue what the plan was either.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - very much like that actually. No one in Spain believes Barca won while he was there because of him. The Barca fans all say it was despite him being there.}

Sometimes people are in the right place at the right time Ed001 mate, Brendan at Liverpool 2013/ 14 comes to mind in this category too.
Some of his comments were Bizarre to say the least, in fact nearly all his comments were bizarre :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - very very true. And now he is some kind of hero to Celtic fans for winning everything domestically when the opposition is non-existent. Bizarre. He still can't get a defence organised or tactically outwit another manager but he beats a few pub teams with a professional team and he is a legend. Odd bunch. They moan about his style of play etc but still worship him for achieving the bare minimum he should.}

The spl is truly a very sorry league. Do you think there is anything they can do to improve it ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - money split more equitably. Celtic and Rangers take far too much of a cut of it and it makes it impossible for anyone else to truly compete. Their Premier League was the death knell for competitive football as it gave those two far too big a cut of things. It is a shame because I remember Scottish football (and players) as being really good. However you can't develop quality without competition to beat.}

I like a no nonsense no excuses plain taking manager who expects from himself and his team every game plus if possible it's always good if they have a good sense of humour too but obviously this is part is only preferably not essential.
Shanks Clough and now Klopp spring to mind on all counts but so does George Graham minus the humour.
The season we lost only once ( at Chelsea) under George he was asked after the game how his team would cope now the unbeaten run had ended and they had tasted defeat for the first timm, George's reply was short and simple " we will start another run" and they did too.
No 12,5 minutes of poor me, no bizarre phrases and terminology that leaves everyone either scratching the head in confusion or laughing their head off in amazement just plain talking acceptance of the situation at hand.

Sanogo as a suggestion how to improve the Scottish league competiveness, would it not be possible and of benefit to both parties if the smaller Club ( all but Celtic and Ranges) formed a partnership with English premier sides.
There has been talk of allowing premier league under 23 teams (reserves as they used to be called) to compete in the lower English leagues as is done in Spain but how about if say Arsenal and Kilmarnock for argument sake formed a partnership where on a month by month basis half a dozen players were loan swapped between the clubs.
The likes of Nelson and Chambers would get regular mens football while Kilmarnock might send half a dozen younger players the other a way for some big club experience.
This or something similar could benefit everyone involved and lead to more Scottish players in the English premier league eventually which would also be good for the Scottish national team long term.

{Ed001's Note - better probably putting the Scottish teams into the League Cup and making that comp more relevant?}

True Ed001 or have championship north (Scotland) and Championship South (England) as they do in the conference league. 2 promoted from each league each season to the English premier league and obviously 4 relegated from the premier league.
Celtic could always win the championship North and decline promotion if they wish :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure it would be a good idea doing that. It is more exciting when it is rare, plus the idea was to make their league more competitive, rather than just get rid of it.}

Fair comments Ed mare.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Scottish football has all the ingredients to be a success, other than the quality of players. It is fast, faster than the English league and often the games have more passion and intensity. If they had the income to improve the quality of player, or to hang on to the better players, they would have a very watchable league.}

The main problem with a championship north and south as you put it is that most of the championship teams are at a higher level than all but a few spl teams in my opinion . A way to go would be make Scotland 2 teir and promoted teams from teir 1 join the Prem and championship . Look at the welsh teams in England.
