Tuesdays night is probably tthe biggest game we have played for years. In respect that we are second in the prem, beating a good but not great man u team, easily and are now playing with menace. Ifcwe can get 4 points of bayern ( not easy i know) the confidence levels will soar, we will then qualify for the next stages and gain real momentum. Lose and it will dent our progression and probably define our season. If this team are going to prove the doubters wrong ( i'm a doubter) then we must strike while we are hot. We want to eat on the top table and we have a platform to progress, if we don't take it then, for me its never going to happen. Not with this present set up anyway. Big big game tues.

I think the players have come to terms with the fact we could be out. We go out we will concentrate on the prem. Unsure what Europa league would do to us so finish bottom if it isn't top or second.

4points as against Bayern a team that sweeps all before them. I just can't see it. Will be a good test though and a great game.

Sorry Steve I couldn't disagree more mate its probably the least pressure we've ever had playing a European Giant, we've given our self's a mountain to climb and although we can and we all hope we do but few really expect us to beat a team that would travel to city Chelsea utd or ourselves as big favorite's.
Lose and were free to concentrate on the league win and we're flying as you say but it won't the Everton game or the trip to Swansea any easier at all.
We could win our next 10 and people would still be saying this is what Arsenal do just wait until the new year.
Sheerar was 100% right until we actually have a good 10 month season instead of half a, season no one will see us as, anything other than top four contenders win lose or draw Tuesday.
I'm looking forward to the game it's a no lose situation for us IMO.

G62,

Steve shows signs of positivity and you slap him right in the chops.

Shame on you :-)

Sorry Dags i didn't have my code breaking device on me when I read Steves post :-)
Ive obviously got the wrong end of Steve's sausage because to me it read if we can't get 4 pionts off Bayern we might as well give up on the season now :-)

19 Oct 2015 11:10:05
Have to completely agree with G62 on this one. It's not a massive game, and it will not define our season. Watford was a bigger game for us than this is. The premier league is priority number one now, and we showed that with the team selection on Saturday. We've already shown that we can have poor results in Europe without it damaging our domestic form.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the question i would ask UG is why bother to qualify for europe then if its only a side issue?..for me the CL should be the No1 priority as winning it elevates a team from good to great..

19 Oct 2015 12:39:09
eds wenger wanted to progress and underestimated the first two games. so now we are left in this situation. let's go for the title.

Ubi gunner derby, you all speak with fork tongue. What a load of tripe. Have ever heard of momentum. You still have fourth place attitudes. Top teams don't think with your mindset, but also rans do. I can't disagree more either. Massive pressure, financial and perception if we go out of this comp.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you steve..

19 Oct 2015 13:12:00
If any of our players think like you lot we will never win zip.

19 Oct 2015 13:36:52
I say let's go out and smash Bayern, play like we did at the start of that last game up to the point Ozil missed that penalty.

No team is unbeatable and we have the quality to hurt them just as much they us.

3 points here a must,1 in Munich then play properly in the last two games. Sanchez and Ozil will not want to be fannying around in the Spursday night Cup.

Momentum as Steve says is huge, you build it and hang on to it as long as you can.

19 Oct 2015 14:10:47
I would like to see us go out and play with the same tempo and attitude that we showed against Man U . Let's see how Bayern cope, give them something to worry about and don't let them settle . No team is unbeatable, I just think sometimes we show too much respect to the Bayern, Barcelona and Real Madrid. For once I would love a team to go all out against Bayern as I don't think they are any better defensively than the top teams in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Oct 2015 13:55:53
You might think CL should be number 1 priority Ed, that's a fair opinion mate, but team selection in both comps has proved that it isn't our number 1 priority.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it just seems strange to me UG that after all the effort and clamour to get one of the top 4 places, arsenal play a weakened team in the CL mate..

19 Oct 2015 16:30:41
We don't lay down for no one, sure the Boss isn't built that way too. You play to lose and you are a loser. I don't care if we finish mid table with a bunch of kids, let's play the right way. We have a deep enough team so yes let's do it! (please read set to the eye of the tiger theme song ;-) ) but its true.

Just how I see it Steve. We want to win the last 4 champs games of course we do. But we won't mate.

Prem title and 4th in champs group. Or 2nd In prem and champs quarter finals.

Not that simple but could play out like that

Love the enthusiasm Steve tho.

Nobody is saying don't give it everything, that's not the issue. The issue I had is calling it our biggest game in years, and a season defining game when it clearly isn't. There is little to no pressure on us because our chances of qualifying are slim to none. As for financial pressure if we get knocked out, really Steve? We will incur no financial pressure whatsoever. Do keep lecturing us on what poor, defeatist fans we are though. Honestly, a little bit of wee came out.

19 Oct 2015 19:47:43
Totally agree Ubi no one is saying don't give 100% tomorrow or what ever games we might have in the CL this season just that winning or losing tomorrow won't decide our premier league fate one way or the other.

I just hope wengers plays his strongest team, from his post match conference, he wanted to rest ozil and sanchez which i do not want to see.

Also i don't care, even if we go down Europa league we have to take that competition seriously as well.

Gabs in for PER and we are looking VERY strong.

Again though my only concern is 'if' we pick up injuries. currently they are at a minimum .

One word for Ozil, I think he has had a great start to the season, long may this continue.

Ozils class has never been in any serious question the better others get the less closely Mesut is singled out by the opposition as the one to stop.
Obviously Sanchez has taken lots and lots of attention away from Ozil and Theo up top is far more of a concern for teams than Theo the unconvincing winger and if Aaron can hit top gear again that's a lot of must stop players for anyone to contend with especially backed up by Caz and the ever more impressive Le Coq.
We are both at our most difficult to beat and stop than for a very very long time right now giving opposition managers a lot lot more to think about now than they've had to do for years when preparing to play us.

62 The ony thing missing from Aaron's game is goals, his work rate is fantastic he has had more shots at goal than any other player in the PL so far.

But again mate I reiterate . injuries that's what will do us 'if' they crop up.

On a positive note the medical team got Kos back earlier than was first suggested so well done them.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Oct 2015 14:32:38
To be fair mate even when he was public enemy No.1 Aaron's work rate was never in question and for me he's been OK to good this season so far and all of last but he hasn't yet reproduced that week in week out breathtaking unstoppable form of 2 seasons back.
ATM he's well worth a place in the side but not at his own absolute best but when he is constantly its yet another dilemma for the opposition to deal with, double up on Sanchez and Ozil you free up Ramsey Walcott and vice versa.

Think with Rambo. The guy must must must keep it simple. That's when for me he is at his best. When he tries to be flesh It goes wrong. Top work effort tho.

Do you think AW will start with a different XI to the one that started Saturday?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Oct 2015 12:15:02
Only possible change will be Gab for Mertesacker IMO, Arssne and the board will want to do all they can to progress from the group stages.

Very sad news about Howard Kendall.
But, learnt an interesting fact, he managed Everton on 3 separate occasions.
Can anybody think of a manager who has been in charge of the same team 3 times?

So far this season we have had a few disasters and this arsenal team are well cabable of a few more, but if we want to be taken seriously then tuesday is the perfect time to start. We have the players to hurt anyone and we are capable of beating anyone and tuesday would be the best time to show people whether we are the entertainers or we are players in this game. We are at home we are in form we are confiden, its now or never.

There is a chance for sure. Ribery and robben missing is massive. Completely different team without them. More narrow and compact. Less pace. But there still winning games without then. Douglas Costa is a threat

Massive game.

If we beat Bayern 5 0 it will be happy days but in reality mean very little unless we progress to the competitions latter stages, we look very very good at the moment but as the pundits all like to point out we have looked very very good many many times before but until we actually as have a good 10 months no one will be convinced by us and all the talk will be of Arsenal always do this in one half of the season.
We have beaten city and been very unfortunate at Chelsea away and of course totally blown away utd at home all of which are great signs of progress but until we actually put in that sustained serious 10 month challenge the question marks will be there no matter what we do against Bayern.
I'm not being negative because all is very positive right now but we do need to show rather than suggest our credentials this time.

Agree banbury, a few defensive lapses from mert where we were not punished but great to see. We are looking so dangerous going forward with Walcott and sancez and giroud coming on at the moment is another dimension to use. Coq and santi are forming a very very strong partnership in front of the defence and if we can get some consistency then we can put in a challenge.
