Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

Anyway. This is me and my boys. Emirates Cup Sunday 04 August. Club Level Area 47 Row 3 Seats 137, 138, 139, 140. Come and say hello be nice to see you.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

See, this is a cool idea

If I lived in UK and were able to attend more often I'd def stop by to say hello

A lot of us frequent the board, I think it's nice to meet up and say hello at a match, would be cool to hear about

Quite a few on the board attend regularly and I always love hearing their stories or tidbits

Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

Indeed.

sadly I have too many commitments in regards to work. I will catch my games at the emirates around october, once i'm done with this project and will look forward to the 4 month break I intend on taking. more likely I will catch arsenal games somewhere in argentina.

Hi there first post and sorry to be negative here but all I keep hearing is we will sign Higuin! his having a medical! really! The transfer window isn't even open yet and correct me if I'm wrong but unless a player is out of contract then we can't sign them till July 1st. I would love this guy at arsenal just to throw one out there as arsene don't like anyone knowing his business wouldn't it be funny if he done a sol Campbell and nicked Gareth bale off the spurs lmfao

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Funny bale f×××ing hilarious, more chance of signing neymar, fernandinho, navas and carroll, oh, hang on a minute

Agree0 Disagree0

Window's been open a while now. Players can have medicals now.

The only thing that can't happen until Jul 1st is the registration cards being handed over from selling club to buying club, etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

They may not sign officially but everything can be agreed. Look at city they've already got fernandhino or is that just a rumour because the window isn't open yet? And what about navas, and then you have shurrle (spelling).

I would be over the moon if we got Higuain, but if the media are to be believed (cough) it just seems to be going a bit too, well smoothly. I'm not saying that if we don't get him we won't get that marquee signing in that position, because I think we will. I guess I've just forgotten what it's like to get a player that you want and are expecting to get without any fuss. It just seems too obvious.
Plain sailing when it comes to big transfers for our club is a very foreign concept. Then again big transfers period are a very foreign concept for our club.

Like a rotten fish in a kitchen belonging to a cat owner with bad breath, next door to a incinerator that specializes in bad eggs.
Something just don't smell right.
Or maybe it's just me.

Hope its true man. we all know he is our superstar player.

checked out the stats online on football observatory and he is the 20th most decisive player across europe.

cesc is at 7th position, our Ex player
santi at 15th, poldi at 21st.

bale is 22nd. lol.

rooney is 19th and rvp is 32nd.

come on wenger. bring him in.

the only players from the EPL who is more decisive than santi is luis suarez at 10th spot.

Hey Lakerville, what do you mean by, "most decisive player"?

Eds is the reported interest in illarramendi from arsenal true? Or is it just paper talk?
I did mention him few days ago asking people of their opinions on him. As I compared him to x. alonso.
And then days later he's linked to arsenal. Think someone from the papers is reading this site lol :)

No matter what signings we make I reckon we'll finish between 3rd-5th;

For starters, if you look at the tables from the last last three seasons, we've finished 12, 19 and 16 points off the top of the table in 2010/11, 11/12 and 12/13 respectively; I think to suggest we can make up that sort of gap in the space of a single season with just one or two seasons is a little fanciful, even with managerial changes at other teams (especially when in two of the three teams in question, the managerial change could easily be argued to be a progressive one) - or at best very dependent on the notion of other teams under-performing. Secondly, to say that a team has stayed at the same level because they finished in the same position as the previous season is a bit misleading. If we finished fourth again but (i) played more 'attractive' or just more strategically coherent football and (ii) finished more comfortably ahead of the chasing pack and much closer to the leading trio, I'd class that as progress - which, because of our model of club-running, would hopefully continue as actual growth rather than a flash-in-the-pan. I do have hopes and optimism that we'll do better next season than we did in the last; I'm just not sure that progress will manifest itself in the standings just yet.
Eman

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Surprised to hear you say we in your post. I would suggest we are going to finish between 1-3 because finally sorted the defense, have no major departures and a couple (but not many needed) of key additions. COYG

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest if we had won the easier games like Aston Villa, Norwich, Fulham and Southampton we would have been much closer to the top. Just winning all those games would have been 9 extra points.

Agree0 Disagree0

With the exception of two season last, I've always gone into every season with romantically stupid hopes on where we would finish up. Last season I didn't think we had a chance of top 4 and the points margin has painted a very telling picture.
However there are positives I feel and all our oponents have obstacles to mount tthis season.
Starting with man utd.
- I've felt that man for man they've been pretty average for a number of seasons. They rely on a few exceptional players who are ageing. I've felt its been SAF's genius that has won them their last 3 titles which were with pretty mediocre squads and moyes will be coming in having never won a thing and under huge pressure and scrutiny.
Man City
- player for player theyhave by far the best team in the league, but they have a new manager with no epl experience and a team of prima Dona individuals. It could go either way with them imo
Chelsea
- these are the big favourites for me. Mourinho is messiah returned, he knows the league, he's always had the better of Wenger and is a winner: however they lack mourinho players. They don't have drogba anymore, they don't have essien and although lamps still bangs em in he's not the player he was 5 years ago. He will want to bring his own players in and this may take time.

As for us, well, if we don't invest we don't have a chance. But if we invest wisely we will be in a strong position. the arse end of last season we had pretty good form, we have a good mix of youth and experience and with world class additions I put us amongst those competing.
Cesar is still world class, Fellaini is world class, Higuain is world class, Williams is a beast and has shown he's a class prem league performer in the mould of the great Sol Campbell.
If we sign these players I am optimistic of at least top 2
AG

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with almost everything you say ag , moyes will be fighting for last Europa spot with the scousers (fingers crossed) as is tradition, too many egos at city (should be good, just are not. ) The return of the messiah is the troubling bit as I believe with the right signings this is who we will be fighting for theleague, current bunch Oscar, Mata, hazard etc under good management could thrive, think current bunch just as good if not better than last time he took over and can imagine his transfer budget probably makes ours look like chump change

Agree0 Disagree0

Assuming we actually buy some decent players and at least one real star (and I think we will) I think we will anywhere from 1-4. I think it will be very close between ManU, Man City, Chelsea and us. Reasons:

I think Man United will be weaker without Fergie, plus Rio and Vidic are getting on a bit and RVP might crock himself again.
Man City I think will be the weakest.
Chelsea will be stronger under Mourinho and they will sign some good players.

Agree0 Disagree0

AG you and I usually seem eye to eye on a lot of things, but I don't share the same positivity you possess at this moment. While I think we are still on a par for top 4, I can't see us doing much better than that, and that's only if we don't screw it up somehow, and even if we sign Higuain. For me it's a formation change as much as anything else. We need to be playing with a DM, 3 mids capable of playing wide e. g. Mata and Hazard, capable of scoring and assisting, and feeding not one but two strikers.

I still feel it's always a case of 'when' Man U, City and Chelsea will bang in a goal, with us it is always 'if'.

We need to some serious additions if we are to even keep top 4. That said, I do have faith Wenger will make some necessary additions, for sure. But unless we sign a top GK, a top DM on top of Higuain (if we sign him) as well as signing a better player to replace Gervinho, and another attacking player to replace Arshavin, we will be lucky to get top 4.

If De Rossi really wants out, I will take him over anyone in the world for DM, even at his age

He has been one of the top 2-3 all round mids in the world for almost a decade now, when healthy

Our youngsters would learn so much from him. On how to be a leader, to give everything for the shirt. No nonsense total commitment player

I could rave about De Rossi for days

Small price, big salary: great, where do we sign, spend every penny of it happily.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

De rossi would never give to another club what he has given to roma. He is a roma fan, and like totti, I never see him leaving them.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, except last couple years for him have been tough w father in-law being killed, and other things off the pitch

Meanwhile the fans have been hard on him for dip in performances during those things

As unlikely as it is, I've never heard him speak of difficulty in the Roma shirt like he did this week at confed cup

That club is unique based on the intense never ending coverage around the city. 2 papers, 4 radio stations devoted only to Roma. I think the pressure and intensity have finally gotten to him

However, AW does like Ramsey so OX might not play. We will have an good spine and a great gk and striker #AVIT.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Arteta as captain and first on the sheet no matter how you have to fit him in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with RR. arteta was immense for us, and doesn't really get enough credit I feel.

COYG:) andi

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree

Captain, yes, like Kehl on Dortmund. But first name on sheet, no way

his legs are old and by the end of the season most of his tackles seemed to be fouls.

We need a faster, quicker midfield. In the big matches, midfield has to be Fellaini, Jack, Santi or Rambo, Jack, Santi if we don't get Fellaini or a DM

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Red rooster. If captain, Arteta definitely first on the team sheet. If not captain, would definitely be the 2nd midfielder I would choose after Santi. He doesn't play a fast paced game so can get another 2 or 3 seasons out of him

Olympiakos 2m bid for rosicky. 3 year well paid deal apparently on the cards.

As good as he is giving him a 3 year deal is a big risk in my opinion.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we sell Rosicky and bring in someone who will contributes more in terms of goals and assists then why not. If Grenier really is the next Nasri then we should have no problem making this sort of move. We can't offer him the game time he deserves, even when he's fit and we need him he doesn't get games so it won't surprise me if he leaves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rosicky has an old school level of commitment many of our younger players lack.

He has been crucial to us getting 4th last two seasons. He plays with urgency always.

If he goes, he has to be replaced with a like for like, experienced world class player.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are usually pretty solid but not htis time. Its not the goals and the assists, its his movement and the way he understands the game that makes Arsenal tick better when he plays - one little guy makes 4-5 better and he's low maintenance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't want to lose rosicky as good squad player, but would not offer him big deal as metal says not sort of player that would be difficult to replace, that said with a run of games could be proven wrong but mid table quality in my eyes

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2013 22:41:05
Totally agree with US Gooner. The experience of players such as Rosicky, Podolski, Mertersacker, Arteta etc is invaluable. Bringing back Henry last year apparently really helped Theo and Myiachi with their finishing.

Two years in a row he's helped us gain top 4. Imagine the impact he would have if he stayed fit all year round. We don't need Grenier or any other CAM. We are in desperate need of a good winger. Dimitri Payet anyone?

Detroit Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Rosicky at CM is unbeatable but Wenger hardly ever plays him. I don't want Rosicky to be sold ever but when we play some wack formation or with someone not ready, and he doesn't even come off the bench, it drives me insane. For that reason, if we were to sell him and sign someone who would be allowed to contribute more then fair enough. But to be honest I would prefer Rosicky to start games for us as CM. I think Jack and Santi should be rotated, and Rosicky and Arteta should be rotated. Ramsey and another DM should be rotated but the point is then we would actually have bench options. Rosicky seems to either start or not even make the bench and he was fit for 5 weeks and not being played while Santi and Arteta were run into the ground after xmas - what is the point in this? So sad but he really does deserve playing time, he is pure class, and I don't know a player in the league that pulls off a sliding tackle coming away with possession like he does.

Agree0 Disagree0

Detroit Gooner, exactly

We need pace and width, not more cental AM's

I say winger after DM and Striker

Di Maria anyone?

Agree0 Disagree0

So agree there. Little Mozart is a class player with experience. Would try him out a lot more in the CM position. although age is catching up with him, he seems to be out most mobile and urgent midfielder.

And he is one of our few midfielders who can shoot form outside the box

I have a concern and don't know if anyone else thinks along the same lines.
PSV signing a new manager for 12 months only, co incides with Wengers contract with Arsenal ending.
A link to Cabella from Montpellier was talked about, now he decides to stay where he is for another 12 months.
Am I reading certain signs that are not really there?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Probably reading things which don't exist - and I'm one of those who would be happy to see Wenger gone tomorrow

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Wenger go to PSV? He can pick and choose from the top shelf of clubs and nations so why go to a mediocre nederlandish side? I think he'll stay for years but if he doesn't I see him as france national manager, and perhaps in Barce.

With the number of players released and that fact I am sceptical of us signing more than one player this summer, can anybody see a few young ones been given a try? Me personally I would like to see eisfeld, gnabry, akpom and zelalem. I hear a lot of talk about them being the future but I would really like to see if they can hack it in the premier league. too many of our prospects aren't given the chance. These lads are a similar age to what cesc and jack were when they made their first appearence and we could unearth some gems if we have faith in them. Why the premier league feels the need to waste youth I do not know. Other clubs spend fortunes on players like Gotze and high profile teens but don't look to their own youth. Hummels and Reus were both rejected by their first clubs and now look at them? sometimes you just need to trust in their ability

Sorry for ranting on but feel free to give me your opinion

JoshA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We are not a mid-level club. when the current success is a 25 mill champions league qualification trophy, youth is secondary.

The League cup and the starting phase of the FA cup are the best opportunities for the youth talent pool.

however, with the scouts and a manager who has made superstars, they know which players to fast track and which need further development.

mental fortitude goes along way, besides talent. when you're surrounded by 60k people, chanting or booing your name, its not an easy task to stand above it all.

an example: Gerard Deulofeu:

His talent at youth level was compared to messi, infact he was more of a prospect to outdo the magical one. however his behaviour and temperament, have cost him.

he felt he should play 1st team football, when given the chance, he looked for glory rather than the simple pass. Valencia are now looking to loan him from barcelona and give him that opportunity.

many others like tello, cuenca had vast potential.

however in a team always competing at the top, one bad game means your chance has passed you by.

every football fan has that passion to be the one to score the winning goal, however its just a chosen few who make that dream. not everyone is born to be a superstar, some are just supporting acts, and a role within a team is pivotal to a players growth.

Ramsey came with promise, looked like it had it taken away, earned it back with persistence and now he is on the verge of the starting 11.

for me he is a player, who had it all, had it all taken away and fought for it. this is what the top end of the game requires and not many individuals possess this toughness to reduce your ego and take a bit role.

like the england setup. every player feels they are the best in the world, they talk the talk but can't play when it counts, egos clash, rivalries cause groups and in the end we see a german squad trash the baloney out of us at the world cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

My opinion is they're not ready (and of course may never be). Unfortunately they haven't always had senior professionals to learn from, doesn't mean they won't make a living playing football, just its uinlikely to be at Arsenal. I remeber the days of the invincibles where Wenger wasn't afraid to send first team players back to the reserves to prove they had ambition and workrate, which helped show the reserves they all had to work hard no matter how hyped they were - and very few of them made it.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2013 15:20:55
Good point but out of all the big clubs in England we're the club who gives the most chances to the youngsters and I firmly believe if any of the current crop of youngsters are good enough wenger would blead them in who knows what's going to happen maybe a good run in the league cup this season and hopefully we unearth a few gems

Agree0 Disagree0

I am torn between wanting the youth to be given a shot and accepting that they simply aren't good enough yet. People go mad about Gnabry but he wasn't even outstanding for his own age group last year, he was just 'good'. And when he played for the seniors, apart from a bit of directness he was a mess. These guys aren't ready. What they need to do is get their heads down, accept what comes their way and let the football do the talking. There are only 2 players imo who are even considerable as being ready for the first team from the youth set up - Yennaris and Eisfeld. Eisfeld is lightweight, but quality, and I believe if we don't see more of him this year then the manager has to be questioned because he came on and transformed our midfield against a full-strength Reading side who scored against us every time we played them I think, and who were 4-1 up.

Yennaris is a great footballer and he's a terrier as well. He deserves game time, he was always class when he played for the firsts the season before.

The youth thing is a bit of a head ache. I think many of them will be stars in a few years but they aren't ready yet.

What confuses me is that Ross Barkley for example was hardly played last year for Everton, yet he started against us towards the close of the season when Everton were still in with a shout of champs league footy. Well if he's that good why didn't he play more? Our game against them was one of the biggest of the season and he was their best player that day.

Makes you wonder what happened to the likes of the next Yaya - Chuks Aneke. He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

I am sort of skeptical of the Higuain deal. As much as I want him to sign, I see all the trademark signs of an Arsenal transfer window with him. We had signed Cahill for sure, so was Mata a done deal.
I will only believe it when I see him standing with an Arsenal jersey getting his pictures clicked.

Also does anyone have any concrete info on Bergkamp being brought in to take over the youth setup. I personally feel this could be a signing as importnat as any player?

Hi guys

Looking at the fixtures and (like everyone) salivating at the North London derby just 3 games into the season.

Now, with Wenger being King Gooner, I would hope he looks to this fixture as numero uno, just like the rest of us. And like the rest of us, hope he likes to smash them spurs big time. Therefore, do you think this could gently force his hand and make him complete transfers a little earlier this summer? He must relaise tha losing at home to the spurs so early on is simply not acceptable to the fans, and he must do anything he can to make sure our win is a sure thing. Signing the likes of Higuian or Fellaini ealry and letting them 'bed in' will help in this case, do you agree?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Signing players early and taking them on pre season you would like to think was pretty bloody obvious but I don't think in the entire Wenger era when this has been the case, seems to always wait for the sales and try to pick up a bargain at the end after all the prime stock has gone for top dollar, do not thing anything will change war chest or not. will be same as every season think we will be getting quality in most get stolen last minute.com all other top teams signing players for fun all our dealing done last couple days after all fan's have chewed fingers to bone, still waiting for my hair to grow back after last closed season

Well in all honesty I would love AW to sign higuain because the guy is just awesome to tell the truth, he does remind me of van persie. In terms of ability that is. The truth is he would put us back in the position we would have been had we not sold van persie and added the awesome 3. (That's what I call em now).

Here's how I see it. Van persie - higuain, cazorla - cesc, now I think he meant to replace Nasri with gervinho (we all know how that turned out), but I think the OX has stepped in on and covered that from what I'v seen the last couple of games, bendtner- giroud. If you look at it like this we have been going in the right direction because in my book these were all like for like buys.

If this summer ends and we have only bought higuain and say a DM then in my books it would not be bad business.

Very good start for us. But December through March is going to be difficult. Especially if Arsenal have their usual mid season slump in December and January. But fortunately, we have a good run in.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

March especially is a hard month

Agree0 Disagree0

It depends, on what this summer goes like.

I'm not going to say we will win the title, its been 8 years now. only a drastic transfer will make me believe we can do so.

There is Liverpool, who could loose Jaws.

There is united, with a new manager, and still not signed anyone to address their issues.

Chelsea have signed schurrle and it depends if mata and luiz will stay or go, and they need a striker bad.

there is city who had added fernandinho and navas. I would rate them at arsenal as their style of play compliments ours, but its left to see how pellegrini incorporates his team.

then there is us, sleeping on transfers, drinking sangria and having a steak before the argentine is even signed. Either we make some signings of intent, or we make excuses and cross the finish line at 4th.

then there's the spurs. that's it

Agree0 Disagree0

Not too bad March is hard one with Spurs away then Chlesea away then City home in that run of 3.

The last 5 games in the final run in after Everton away are good with 3 out of 5 as Home games and the two away being lower ranked sides in Hull and in Norwich final day. No desrespect to them but we should be getting max points from those last 5, which may prove vital in the run in.

It will be interesting to see where the mid-week euro games will fit into the fixture list schedule. To see if we get more home games than away straight after the euro games.

Juventus have turned their attention to Alexis sanchez. this could mean higuain has not competition for his signature?

I'm actually worried that Pellegrini will sign him for city to partner Aguero.

Arsenal have activated Fellaini release clause for 23million and having his medical in the upcoming days.
Glenn The Gunner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I certainly hope not! Fellaini is a good midfielder but not world class. would try for either one of the Bender twins

We've got the spurs at home 3rd game of the season. Any thoughts about how that might go?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

With that fixture list I believe we will win the first three games of next season. That is if we have a productive transfer window.

Tottenham their game of the season, what a start! But in march, we play spurs away, Chelsea, man city, then everton.

Come on you gunners!

See you there!

Aston Villa first game of the season and at home, we've got Fulham away and Tottenham at home after that as well. Can't wait for the new season to start, feel lost without the football. Just gutted I'm on holiday so will miss the derby.

With our fixtures this year, if we make a couple of good signings as we expect, we should be top at the end of October.

Chimney sweep Josh

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree with why you say there josh. The first few months are reminicent of the fixtures towards the end of last season. However it's November and December which will be key.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's why I didn't mention those two months, Paul. I didn't want to be negative lol. Though, if I am to be negative, I'd worry if we were top we'd revert to the ways of a few years ago, when a couple of times we were challenging and the last 25% of the season we capitulated. Obviously one theory is that the reason in the last two years we've done so well at the end of the season is that we've only had the Premier League to focus on. I don't necessarily agree with that, but it's a theory. We do, however, have to be a little apprehensive that if we do strengthen with 2-3 strong players and begin well, that towards the end of the season if we're challenging on 3 fronts or 4 earlier in the year with the league cup, that the squad could begin to tire, as few of them have really been in that position before. Anyway, that's enough negativity! Bring on Higuain, Cesar, I think Nani could do well for us, and hopefully Kongdogbia! I also would love to see us go for Thiago Alcantara. I think we'd be just as well off going for him as Cesc. He's got a LOT of years ahead of him. If we gain success, he should stay for a long time, unlike top players in recent years.

First 6 games are

Aston villa home
Fulham away
Spurs home
Sunderland away
Stoke home
Swansea away

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Does not look too bad. The last 5 games final run in after Everton away looks good which could prove crucial. December and March in particular are the two hardest Months on Paper. In March we have Spurs away then Chelsea away then Man City at home.

Dont forget the games in and around the euro games are always key I feel where you want home games as much as possible after a mid week euro game.

If all goes to plan next season, December and March will be the months in which our season will be defined.

G95

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes they are defo the two hardest months, But overall it is not too bad with quite a fair even spread. The last 5 games in the run in look good with 3 out of 5 Home games (after Everton Away) With teh away team being Hull then final day At Norwich.

Thr Rooney interest was just or show so that we could get Real Madrid to lower their price for Higuain which seems to have worked.

Secondly we are in for Nani, the fact that we will sell Gervinho shows this as Podolski was regularly subbed due to fitness. Nani will be the target
Arsenalboii46

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't want nani. he is inconsistent. and he wants to be paid like a star player.

Also i'm quite sure they won't sell him to a premier league rival.

If they want gervinho then I would listen to what they have to say.

Just read online the Sun 15 June. Headline was Santos was 'Gutted' about having to return to Arsenal after his 6 months on loan at Gremio. Well I don't know about anyone else but I was a bit gutted myself to find out that he was coming back and has not been sold yet. Sorry to anyone that rates him. Its just a personal opinion.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Anyone who rates him, does not need a telling off in football matters, rather a look in the mirror to find out the purpose of your life.

Agree0 Disagree0

No need to apologise I'm yet to meet anybody who rates him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I rate him at being pretty useless!

Man city is building a spanish team. as much as United may get him, there is city waiting to take him, just so that they can't have him.
