Question - What's the difference between a bag of crap, and Spurs?

Answer - the bag

Believable19 Unbelievable2

No, I'm not having that!

The answer is 2 differences,

1. The bag

Hey ed's nice work, got to a couple of questions for you to answer, firstly do you think there is any chance of arsenal having interest in Alexis Sanchez? because his former club's (Udinese) sporting director has said he would be a good match for us.

Secondly is there a chance Alex Song could be back at arsenal next season? We all know his situation is pretty bad right now at barca.

Johnny {Ed027's Note - Alexis is available, though i have'nt heard of Arsenal expressing a intrest in him. With Song, it would'nt be his choice, we forced him out, so unless he's changed his attitude he won't be back.

Hey Ed
what do you think about Draxler? I know we are following Isco, Goetze but I am not fully convinced we will be able to Sign any one of them. I hope we do you, which entirely depends upon champions league qualification. Suppose we don't Qualify ( I hope we do you, spurs don't belong in CL, only Europa league which will stuff their juices and help Arsenal), do you think we can sign players of this caliber then? it will also impact the transfer chest as well as no CL will result in significant cut in revenues.

SO WOULD YOU SIGN DRAXLER (I WILL). {Ed027's Note - depends, same goes with Mario and Isco, if we signed them where would we play them? surely Santi and one of the above can't both play central, so i'd rather go for a proper winger to give theo a shove

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Didnt malaga manage to play cazorla and isco together? anybody know how they was set up. who played where etc?

Agree2 Disagree0

Cazorla was a winger for malaga

hello edd can you see mertesacker and padolski laving hopefully we get rid of merts he's ok but not world class even though he's played the last few games well but let's no forget are shmbolic defending! as for padolski if wenger won't play him upfront he mite as well leavedont get me wrong he's quality but he's wasted out wide also i'm sure padolski wants to play upfront abd if any other top side offer him to play upfrnt he mite leave {Ed027's Note - I see bothe of them staying, both are top draw

Believable0 Unbelievable15

It's PODolski, ffs

Agree10 Disagree1

Id love it if pod was played upfront. I do like giroud but i'd prefer it if pod was started

i see a couple newspapers stating cech is now a target for arsenal. good to see a keeper is high on the priorities list but seriously we are being linked with everyone of them.

eds any truth behind cech? and who can u see likely to be in arsenal colors next season (GK)? {Ed027's Note - i very much doubt it, Begovic would be the most likely as he is available, expect a GK merry-go-round, with Valdes, Courtois, Begovic, possibly Reina and Cech involved, along with whoever Barca buy

Believable3 Unbelievable0

19 Mar 2013 21:31:57
Make Begovic priority number one.

I think he is the best keeper in the world at the moment

Believable8 Unbelievable10

The world. really? there is hope for Bendtner yet!

1404

Agree6 Disagree1

I agree, I think begovic is a fine GK

Agree0 Disagree0

Would settle for someone like John Ruddy myself

Agree0 Disagree0

John Ruddy is a class keeper, but he's rarely recognised because thanks to a poor defence he concedes a lot of goals. I know at times our defence have been poor but generally better than Norwich. Only problem is he's coming back from a long injury, and buying a player in that situation always makes me nervous.

Is Vermaelen leaving? i'm not sure, I hope he doesn't but at the same time he has being so inconsistent this season, which is very bad for a CB. If he wants to leave i'm sure we could cash in £15m or so for him. Glad he was dropped in place of Kos. I noticed though Mertersacker is the weak link.

Best pairings (in my opinion)

1. Verm and Kos
2. Mert and Kos
3. Mert and Verm.

Detroit Gooner

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Why 15m we didn't pay that for him and he's not as good when he first come and teams are spending less at the moment

Michu Please!

Believable4 Unbelievable11

I reckon he's a one season wonder. Like Jelavic and Cisse in their first 6 months. I doubt he will socre 15+ next season or hack it at a top 4 club

Detroit Gooner

Agree18 Disagree8

He banged them in in la liga aswell. He's class in my opinion, great touch, great movement and a deadly finisher. its not like he's got lucky goals or just scores the same type of goal, he's a very complete attacking player. Definately won't be a one season wonder
AG

Agree9 Disagree1

Even in the recent game against us, his touch was class, we really got off the hook when his shot went round the post.

Agree1 Disagree0

Michu is decenr. can see him going somewhere like liverpool or spurs, think he would do alright too for a 'bigger' club

Agree1 Disagree0

^^ If Michu is decent why would he go to spurs or Loserpool?

I think the problem with Shezza is he believes his own hype, the media etc heaping praise on him. I think he needs to buckle down and concentrate on doing the simple stuff well, ie, his kicking, his commanding of the area, decision making. The idea of a new goalkeeping coach coming in makes absolute sense. Get Jens in, he won't take no sh1t, get Shezza grounded again and doing what he does best.

Fabianski has performed very well, but with the talk of a new goalkeeper coming in, and his very little playing time, I wouldn't be surprised if he is putting himself in the shop window, commanding displays, good all round games, I think he is setting himself up for the off with the potential to earn a decent transfer away from the club.

Theo Walcott, ok he's got his new contract, I just wish he would shut up talking to the media, saying we need to up our performances, we need to do this, do that, it wouldn't be so bad if he actually took his own advice, his displays since getting the new contract have been p1ss poor.

The defence since the Bayern away game have been commanding, solid performances. Sagna shouldn't play for us again this season barring an injury to Jenks, I think if you drop Jenks now, its going to be a massive kick in the balls to the lad, he's been top notch since his inclusion in the squad again. Merts and Kos have actually looked like a proper defensive partnership, and with Monreal, and Gibbs at lb, we look pretty much sorted.

Midfield, well as much as Arteta has tried he's no dm, we NEED to make this one signing a priority, first signing of the summer and we need to get him in as early as possible to integrate him to the squad, attacking wise we are doing well, maybe get a Pires type figure in to help coach them, but on the whole were pretty steady.

Forwards, as much as I like Giroud, I just don't think he has the pace for the EPL, we break with pace, he hasn't got it, don't get me wrong, he tries his heart out every match, gets stuck in, but we need a clinical finisher up front, is Jovetic the answer, I don't know, i'd love to see Higuain personally but can't see that happening to be honest.

sorry for the long post guys!

N. Wales Gunner

Believable19 Unbelievable3

Great post completely agree with everything you said. Although I share Wengers vision that Giroud will come good next season. 15 goals in debut season is nothing to be snarled at, plus he's had countless assists in big games.

Detroit Gooner

Agree19 Disagree1

Im not saying he's had a bad season, in fact for a debut season he's been quality, its just the way we play, he's not quick enough up front. His link up play at times is amazing, he's a strong lad, not short on confidence, and when knocked over will get back up and carry on, I think ideally we need a mixture of Giroud's all round game with some Theo's pace lol, throw in a Higuain poachers instinct and were laughing lol

Giroud is such a honest and wholehearted player but I think we need that striker with just that something extra, and has it appears AW is not going to play Poldi down the middle and still flirting with Theo down the middle who hasn't done f--k all since signing his new contract, then, Jovetic would do me nicely. Higuan or Benzema would be great aqquistions, but realistically we won't get them. As for Shezza for no 1 choice he just isn't good enough.
Heybridge Gooner.

Agree8 Disagree0

We could never afford your Higuans, Benzemas etc. They cost £25m+ with £120,000+ wages on top. I think Giroud is what we need. He adds a new dimension to our play and he works really hard for his team, Unlike Walcott (I think those 2 are like Glatt and LaFlame from the film Goon).

Speaking of which. If we could cash in £12m or so for Walcott would you take it? For that money we could buy a proper winger to support Giroud.

Detroit Gooner

Agree4 Disagree0

Yes Detroit I would take 12m for Theo and get a winger who could cross a ball, we might even have one at the club that AW has buried somewhere

Agree0 Disagree0

Still the Walcott hate. He wants to play as a striker yet now he has signed Wenger puts him back on the wing despite showing some potential up front.

Who is that you think has set up 90% of Giroud's goals this season? That would be Walcott

I have a few points to clear all this talk of a new keeper is pointless everyone is giving schezza a hard time when he is 22 and is playing behind a leaky defence this season and as soon as the back line have a few good games the blme drops on that shezza isn't giid enough come on guys do I have to remind you of all the blunders of flappyhandski he has a lot of mistakes in him and he is 5 years older. I agree that we should buy a new keeper to give shezza compettiton but I think the type of keeper we should go for is a very experianced keeper and not the likes of vorm we should have snapped up give when he was leaving city. And I hate to us spurs as a example but they got it right with friedel and loris a keeper who is experianced and one for the future. As arsenal our biggest downfall is giving stick to our young and talented players like shezza and ramsey they are both good players and I think that everyone compares the progess jack has had and felt ramsey hasn't dne enough but if u compare him to the likes of henderson cleverly etc he is a good player
True G

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Agreed he is still young, but his kicking and distribuation is a huge concern, he does not seem vocal enough this has become more evident since fabianski returned.

Not given up hope with him but I would like to see him go out on loan to maybe a mid table team for a season and get an experienced short team keeper in for next season.

Shaneyd

Agree1 Disagree2

He is a promising young keeper, but is very immature & hasn't improved since his debut. I would keep him & see how Fabianski gets on. I was impressed with his displays against Bayern & Swansea.

I certainly would like Nordfeldt Zouma Aurier Pogba Draxler Vilhena Cornelius in the squad Pogba would be great love the way he plays and utd would hate it! Anass achhabar is another young player we really should try and sign.

Sore fingers though from flicking those players around, plus if you trod on one it broke really easy, bit like Diaby!

Just got off the phone with Ivan. He told me who we are in for this summer. All depending on whether we get top 4. Assuming top 4 it as follows:
Gk Julio Caesar. And we will keep Schezney.
Cb Ashley Williams or Amoribietta
Cmd Ettiene Capoue
Amd An offer for Isco will be made
Cf David Villa

Believable0 Unbelievable13

Is this meant as a joke?

Agree8 Disagree0

Why would we want cesar? The guy is way past it and make a lot more mistakes than Shezza ever did.
Ashley Williamsis not good enough for Arsenal.
Capoue and Isco would be nice but there are certainly better options than Capoue.
Villa is not worth the money when Jovetic is available.

Any of te ed can reply it.
Ed please can u tell me what type of changes do you see for arsenal in the coming months. thanx {Ed013's Note - Thank you for allowing any Ed to reply to your post! Maybe a new Manager and a few top signings that will get the fans drooling again}

Believable2 Unbelievable4

I hope when Wenger gets us top 4 Eds and posters will give him a break. Top 4 will be a great result for the way this season has been!

Agree5 Disagree6

And there we go, another fan happy with 4th place!

Paul

Agree7 Disagree3

Top 4 would be a great achievement for this season however it needs to be the last season where we struggle so badly. The money is there the structure is perfect and the core of the team is excellent time to move on and upwards again.

Agree15 Disagree0

Exactly tonyb, they printed the word 'forward' on our shirt last season and since then we have rapidly gone backwards, heres to next season moving forward and a trophy!

Agree5 Disagree0

We are 24 points behind United. That's embarrassing. Our goal difference also shows how inefficient we have been in converting performance to points. 4th would rescue the season, but the Arsenal are a bigger, better equipped club than we are placing.

Agree2 Disagree0

Will everyone stop moaning about the fact that we should be ashamed of finishing 4th and being 24 pts and maybe more by seasons end behind Man U.

Considering no one and probably most of us fans didn't give us a prayer of winning the title this year and the fact we have been "rather eratic" to say the least I would say 4th isn't that bad. Ofcourse I wanted more. But let's put it into perspective.

The so called two main challengers, only real challengers for the title other than Man U were, Man City and Chelski currently 15 and 19pts behind. Don't you all think that seems a lot more of a rubbish showing than ours.

Also, we are only 9pts off City and 5pts off Chelski and we have been deemed to have had a crap season.

So please fellow gooners think on a positive rather than a negative. We are having a bad run of years yes but things will get better sooner rather than later.

Who knows maybe this time next year we'll be Billionaires Rodney.

Estepona gooner

Agree6 Disagree0

City also consider themselves to have had a bad season, likewise for chelsea. Everyone is having a bad season except for Manchester United and everton! (and maybe aston villa fans think they have aswell, but that was predictable)

Agree1 Disagree0

Not moaning, it's just a fact. Bad decisions and bad luck over the past 5 years have cost us, there's no guarantees in football. But we should be better off for the resources we have, the points and statistics don't lie. Like Daniel said, City expected to do better, and I doubt they'll stand for not meeting expectations again next season.

For the record, I'm not attacking the manager or the team like too many seem to do here and elsewhere. For all its flaws this years squad is more likable and honest than the past few years IMHO and I look forward to seeing them come good next year, with some assistance in the transfer window. But 4th this year would be a rescue from consistently shooting ourselves in the foot, not a triumph or a trophy. That's what I was saying. Everyone knows they are lucky to be a Gunner on match day and we all support the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

Wengers aim was to be 4th and we are 4th. *yawn*

Need a more ambitious manager (and owners?)
