The reason I compared Ozil to Pires is because they are/were both playing as a left winger.

I get your point that Ozil is a number 10 but, whilst he is being employed as a winger (not his fault admittedly), he will continue to be judged as a winger.

For me, as a winger, Pires is head and shoulders above Ozil.

A bit of a tangent, but I'm bored and have 30 minutes left at work: I wonder why some footballers still do endorsements with the money they get. Surely the money that Hart gained from the head and shoulders adverts weren't even worth the effort or time - or the dandruff jokes.

Also, unless I'm just being dumb again, isn't Ozil starting to be utilised more centrally now?

tbf its pretty harsh to judge ozil as a winger when we all know he's not. if anyone should be geting stick its arsene for playing ozil for the sake of playing ozil when playing a lesser player but someone comfortable on the wing would do a better job. he's played him there enough times to know it doesn't work. i know the running stats don't show the whole story, but they do at least show he's putting effort in rather than standing round the whole game. i also saw a stat from the 1st of feb up to the monaco game: chances created ozil 21 giroud 13 cazorla 12 sanchez/ramsey 8 so he's hardly our least effective player

i don't understand when was the last game he played on the left wing, that position is pretty much Alexis/Wellbeck/Ox take your pick.

Welbeck and Sanchez have been played on the wings PFG and Ozil has to me been given licence to roam in the 10 role with Cazorla playing deeper and Coquelin covering their backs.

You have to bear in mind I've never played football though. ;-) hey Derby.

Depends what your agenda is I guess, in some people's view he's done really well since returning from injury but for others he can never justify the 42 million ARSENE decided to pay for him.
