evening ladies and gents.

so we knocked the chicken off the beach ball again.

when will they ever learn that they are 2nd best in n. london and all ways will be.

i wonder will the 2.5 mill they get for for qualifying for the SPURSDAY CUP be enough to keep DAVEY JONES at the club or will he decide to go on tour with the MONKEYS.

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO THANK ALL THE EDS FOR ANOTHER GREAT PERFORMANCE THROUGH OUT THE SEASON. WELL DONE LADS.

speak to every 1 when the window opens:)

love the site and love every gooner.

The victory was even sweeter because it was achieved on the last day of the season and that the poor deluded spurs were so tantalisingly close to their dream. only for it to be snatched away so deliciously cruelly ha ha!

Loved the Sir Alan Sugar 'Toon equaliser' tweet gaffe that sent the assembled deludites into temporary, but misguided, rapture. Alan, You're Fired!

Turning to Monkey Boy, it will be a real test of Levy's resolve and determination to hang onto him now. Fair play to how he managed to hang on to rat-features for as long as he did but I can see mega-offers coming in for their one decent player this close season and I think he will go. If it comes to pass then I can see an early Europa League exit and mid-table mediocrity for our noiseless neighbours next year.

Happy close season to Malaga and everyone else on this board and a special shout out to the Ed's who do a fantastic job.

Sell Gervino, Vito manone, Lukasz Fabianski, Sebatien Squillaci, Nicklas Bendtner, Andre Santos, Johan Djorou, Arshavin and injury prone Abou Diaby.

Keep Podolski, Sign Jovetic, Sanogo, Benteke, Not sure if Higuan is value for money at £33 M, but a great player, Rooney, a defnite NO, could be disruptive with his attitude and wage demands could upset Arsenal's wage structure. Two good defensive midfeiders in the mould of a Patrick Viera to replace Abou Diaby and a permanent replacement for Alex Song. One Good Goakeeper that can compete for the No1 spot with Szczesny, a good defender. Not very sure about Ashley Williams fitting the bill

I know it's not much but we have had interest in the past and would be a good Sagna replacement

Not a 'class' player. I would rather we buy a good reliable RB, that can provide cover for Jenkinson who will be England's first choice RB.

ok so if you look at goal differential the top 4 are the right ones.

Would not mind spending the whole 70 million on Bale - seems more of an arsenal player and his buddies are all here - theo, ox and ramsey - let's make this happen!

we got the 3 points we got champions league football
now next season mr wenger invest in quality no 15 year old from parts unknown - proper experienced quality, even if it costs an extra million DO IT MAN!
put us back on the pedestal where we belong. at the top battling for honours.
dont get sentimental and keep the perrenial 'not good enough's' - ship them off and strengthen the squad (keeper right back maybe centre half definitely defensive mid and striker) mr wenger you will not get a better opportunity than this to strengthen - we know you have funds available SO USE IT MAN!
im buzzing now - spurs faces at full time - what a picture - so near but so far - try doing it without bale next season you pr**ks

A bit of information that I would like you to be aware of, Usmaov is on 29. 9 % (roughly) and its expected that he will make a big move when he touches 30%. But Josh Kroenke is footie crazy and Arsenal is apparently for him to run in the future.

This summer may be more than just about on-field developments.

Also, PHW's replacement has got to be in the David Dein material of men.

well that was a rough season but we got 4th in the end and with some major investment now in the summer we can start to climb back to where we belong after 8 hard years of watching the pennies to pay for our new home, fairplay to all the fans who stuck by the team and manager through the hard times, now we cann enjoy the glory that shall come, shame on all the plastic fans and sunshine supporters who did nothing but whinge and knock this great club!

Great day today! Well done lads!

Just wanted to share some updates on some Arsenal loanees.

Bendtner came on for the last 15 min for Juve against Sampdoria yesterday. Went up to connect with a cross, missed, fell and broke his wrist. Great.

Andre Santos. was guilty in allowing Juventude to equalize in a cup semi-final. The result was a penalty shoot out. The first 9 all found the back of the net. Up steps Santos and sends his "attempt" into orbit. Gremio loses. Wow.

Park Chu Young has scored 3 goals and 1 assist in 20 appearances for Celta Vigo. Really?

This all is funny, until you realize all three are still Arsenal players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Bendter broke his wrist he will be a difficult player to sell if he is injured.

Sunderland fan here, well done for securing champions league football for yet another season, arsenal have been the best team in the league this second half of the season

finally, CL football secured for next season.

We've done it again, let's hope that the person who goes over transferbudget opens his eyes and sees that 4 seasons of selling your best players isn't working. Let's build around the best players and add players that will make us better.
Our transfers last season were a good start. (I believe that if Song and RVP would've stayed we would have challenged for a trophy) The key however is keeping our top players.
Let's hope that this season we can sell our so called "deadwood" something that should've happened a long long time ago.
I think we can actually challenge for a trophy next season (if we improve the squad with three or four players!), with four teams around us changing their managers and Spurs maybe losing Bale. We only have to preform a little bit better than our second half of the season.
I however do fear the transfermania that will hit the PL this season, all new managers will get a budget to bring in the players they want. Teams like Chelsea and Man City will improve with big signings and Man United will improve their PL-champions, with already talks of Baines and Fellaini following Moyes.
Let's hope that times will change back to what they were, a time in which we didn't only talk about challenging for the title, a time in which we won titles and cups. After eight years (a generation of footballers) of agony, all of the fans, players and Wenger, everyone involved in the club deserves a trophy.

Belgian Gooner 85

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So you believe that song and rvp would have stayed if we would have challenged for a trophy? We might have had a few more if RVP had spent more time playing!

Well done everyone, let's hope for a good summer and that the right players go out and some quality comes in.

Lets not forget that even though the last few years might not be what we have been accustomed too the transition from Highbury to the Emirates maintaining Champions League in the current football climate where so many clubs are free spending and creating huge debt for mediocrity. We have a fantastically well run club that i'm hugely proud of and we should never forget the football world is a very different one from 8-9 years ago, Trophies will happen.

Enjoy today, enjoy the summer, and most of all enjoy not having to rearrange whatever it is you usually do on thursday nights HAHA

Sorry to put a dampner on things but remember we have only just finished fourth, not won a trophy. We're going to play in the champions league next season but, we're not going to win it or even compete in it so what is the point? Just for the £30 million that were not going to spend anyway. Arsene Wenger said Chelsea's Europa league success was a reward for failure, what is finishing fourth then? In my opinion success in the league is winning the league not finishing fourth which in my opinion is an even bigger reward for failure. I should be feeling happy right now like the rest of you but I just can't feel happieness in my heart when I see Robin Van Persie lifting the Barclays premier league trophy. However I do not blame Wenger and to finish in the top four of the league in each of the last 16 years in truly remarkable.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Give it a rest mate. we have just beaten the spurs to a champions league place. we have had our worst season in years, and they have had their best. I for one are going to celebrate like it is 1999.

Steamin` Willie Beamin

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand your argument from past experiences, but being in the champions league is the only way to attract the top players that will make a difference and make us into contenders.

Yes we are long way off from winning the league and champions league as it stands but I really think if we can keep all our current key players and add quality in certain areas we can make a big challenge next season. We have suffered the last few seasons with the lose of the key players of RVP and Fabregas (I don't include Nasri in that), But this close that will not happen and will give us a better foundation with which to add.

Wenger must know he needs to spend in key areas, but its difficult to get those targets up against the riches of Chelsea Man City and Man Utd. This transfer window is key to our future.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on mate, it could be worse. We could be Spurs.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is always one who has to be negative on a day like this. 26 points from our last 10 games is incredible, and to qualify for the CL without the depth in the squad that others have is an achievement in itself. If Arsenal do not strengthen this summer then we will all be complaining like you, but for now give it a rest.

Today I think Kos and Mert fully cemented themselves as the best CB pairing in the whole league! I must admit I feel sorry for TV5 but he's been so inconsistent and just cannot compete with them!
Now we've grabbed CL again Wenger needs to put his hand in his pocket and splash out on a couple of players, our squad is so close to challenging for the title but we just need a few more world class players.
And let's just hope that Bale decides he wants CL football and leaves the spurs over summer, that way we'll have no competition from them next season!

Well done Arsenal, Players and Wenger

We need to challenge more in the league but looks like we have the foundations of a real team. Now let's add a couple of stars while keeping the balance

MOM - Kos

SY4 {Ed027's Note - YES!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree it was vital we got qualification today (although yes technically we have a qualifier first). We have the foundations of a very good side just need a extra bit of star quality in certain areas to really make a difference. I think the stable CB partnership of Kos and Mert was a massive factor in us getting back into the mix for the final 10 games of the season, we have been rock solid of late.

I think this will be the first close season where we will not lose any key players which has unsettled us in the previous few seasons with RVP and Fabregas leaving. This transfer window is now the most important in Wenger's career he has to get it right, if he does we can make a real go of the title next season.

Also well done to our traveling fans who have been awesome all season

19 May 2013 18:03:46
A scrapped 1-0 win, talk about nerves.

You never safe at 1-0 but we hang on. Better in 2nd half than first and Newcastle did drop off a little. Kos a and Mert were imense today and did not give Newcastle any real decent chance in open play, but your always nervous at 1-0 with any freekicks or corners. Giroud did well when he came on aswell held the ball up and put good pressure on the back 4.

Now we can make our big moves in the transfer market not forgetting we now have a qualifier to play. Champions league is crucial in getting the players we need to improve. We have 100m to spend and we need to spend it wenger. {Ed027's Note - YES!

Not been outscored in the 2nd half of a game this season. now would be a horrific team to do so.

Detroit Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Right, that was the worst 45 minutes of my life in 2013. My take on the game. Forget David Beckham being kers think they are better thasn en playnighted, Kos the Boss needs to be knighted. He kept us in the game, he was solid dfender, attacking midflielder, on the wings, striker, the only position he didn't have was goalkeeper. He needs to be signed up for another 10 years!. Walcott - I really like Walcott so it pains me to say it but, I hate when players think thert are better than the team, when a pass goes stray he puts his arms out and rollicks the person who gave him a stray pass, some might say it shows ambition but to me it shows that he is better than he really is. Especially when he could have saved my glasses (i chucked them when he missed that sitter). Missus didn't understand why I screamed the house down at the final whistle and shouting at the screen "We won cause we wanted it more".

I hate Gareth Bale on another note and I hope he goes to Real Madrid.

Peoples team selection for today? It's interesting with injuries and players coming back. Based on recent performances I can't think who should get dropped.

I'd go for.

Szeszecny
Sagna - Mertersacker (c) - Koscielny - Gibbs
Ramsey - Wilshere
Walcott - Rosicky - Cazorla
Podolski

Podolski playing on confidence from 2 goals. Cazorla was quite effective last game cutting in from the left a lot of creativity. Rosicky deserves to stay at CAM he's been fantastic. Gibbs over Monreal as he's got more drive and better attacking qualities.

Im nervous about today as Newcastle one of those teams that can be top 4 worthy on their day. I have no idea about their injuries as they are always crippled by injuries. But I really hope Cabaye and Ben Arfa are injured. Tiote is a liability and I hope he gets rinsed by Rosicky, Cazorla etc.

I'd love a similar scoreline to last game but i'd take a boring 1-0 win no dramas. If it's level with 10-15 minutes to go il probably have an aneuryism. Good luck to Everton and Sunderland as well but if we win all that is irrelevant.

My predictions:

Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal (Cisse, Walcott, Koscielny)
Spurs 4-1 Sunderland
Chelsea 1-1 Everton

Personally, I think we should keep Sagna.

But people keep saying that he should go, and as a replacement get someone else.

That comment is fine, but then when people suggest replacements, they suggest someone young, with a great future.

This is where I don't agree.

Buying someone young and talented would be great, but it would kill the progression of Jenkinson and even Bellerin.
That's why I think we should keep Sagna, and by the time he's done, Jenks will be ready to go.

Jenkinson is a true gooner of true quality, and bellerin will be brilliant one day, do we really want to waste that?

Nick.

Totally agree but if Sagna leaves it creates a problem. I certainly believe Jenkinson is ready but were he to get injured we would be screwed. If Sagna leaves I think we should go for a versatile CB who can play RB aswell. No idea who though possibly Richards if he's available. I really rate Jenkinson he'll be future England RB. Walker is just hyped up because of his pace and attacking runs.

Last years young player of the year hyped up? Next you'll be saying Bale is hyped up because he's got a bit of skill. A little biased I think!

So who will be captain today?
Sanga?
Per?
Kos?
Jacky?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I reckon Per, will be interesting to see though.

Probably big Per Mertersacker. Unless Wenger plays Vermaelen at CDM which I highly doubt.

I would say give it to Jack, but I would worry that he is more important today concentrating on creativity rather than being captain, so maybe Kos or BFG.

We've scored early in our matches recently, so we should try and do that today. I hope that we are 2 or 3 up by half time.

Also, Santi should probably play through the middle, and Rosicky should replace Arteta. BFG and Kos should play at the back. Still undecided as to whether Giroud should play.

Most nervous I have been in a while. On current form we should beat newcastle easily, but we all know that won't happen.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So you're 100% sure we won't win? Really?

Agree0 Disagree0

I read that as "we all know we won't beat them easily" as in we'll make hard work of it.

Really hope we get one inside of 5 mins and its 0-2 after 15mins or so, settle the nerves. (unless it's 4-4 again. )

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah, I see. My apologies.

Agree0 Disagree0

Had that 4-4 in my head since yesterday too Paul. Can't see it though. We know what we have to do and the prize at the end of it so come on arsenal let's have it! 3-0 giroud Walcott 2

with the news in papers that Torres is to be sold this summer does anybody else think we should try and make a move?
hasnt been great at Chelsea but shown some glimpses of his talent and would probably suit our style of play better.
wages may be a stumbling point but I think we should give it a go along with bringing in Jovetic, Wanyama, a right back if Sagna goes and a goalkeeper. would love to see Cesc back but am not believing any of those rumours!

Absolutely crapping my pants about tomorrow but I think we will get 4th and if we do this the realistic summer is like to see:

An experienced GK even if they are 2nd choice just to mentor Shezza. I'd want Julio cesar would give good competition and would give shez a year or two to develop.

I'd do what ed027 said and let sagna run down his contract be back up to jenks next season loan out bellerin so he's ready to challenge jenks for 14/15 season. If sagna goes we should get an experienced right I'd love pizceck or gamez.

At CB if the Verminator stays we should get a young CB I'd like either zouma or dragovic. If he leaves I'd replace him with ogbonna or rami.

It looks like its out of two for CDM after the capoue rumours have disappeared and he looks more likely to join psg. So it's Wanyama or gonalons can't say I've seen a lot of gonalons but when I have he's looked calm and disciplined and Wanyama undoubtably has talent but my one concern is he drives forward quite a bit but he is young so could become more disciplined.

Finally a striker for me the fact that higuain is available we should be in straight in for him but wenger seems set on jovetic I'm not completely sold on him. Don't get me wrong he is a good player with great technical ability but isn't exactly prolific but he does have potential and if anyone could turn him into a great striker it's wenger.

That is a very realistic summer which could make us contenders not champions and should bag a trophy. Oh and if cesc wants to come back I really wouldn't mind. Cheers if you bothered to read this and ed027 deserves a mention the guys got good banter makes this page much better.
