I see Raheem Sterling has won 'Young Liverpool player of the year'.

That's like buying your wife a blouse 24 hours after she asked for a divorce.

De Gea going to Real is almost as big a loss to utd as Saurez was for Liverpool, they will need to spend big defensively to cover his loss.
I don't think any team this season owes so much to one player as utd do to Do Gea, chelsea would most probably have won the league without Hazard and spurs wouldn't finish top 4 if they had 2 harry Kane's so ultimately he made no difference to them at all but without De Gea where would utd have finished?
To be fair they'd probably still have made top 10 but it would have been touch and go

i agree, if they had swapped de gea for bale this year, i think they would have less points. but i think they are back now, they will spend like crazy again, if they missed out a second year i think it could of jepordised big transfers wanting to risk no CL, but i think they can get who they want now and will be dangerous next year. only player i think has been as important to their team is terry. i think put terry in ours or citys team and its the difference

He's a great small club keaper, but I fear he'll be a small great club keaper

Agree with Eden, although Terry is 34, he is still the best Centre half in the prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2015 05:40:00
Sanchez was worth atleast 10/12 points to us in the first half of the season. We might be down there scrapping for 4th with Liverpool and Spurs if it weren't for him.

Kane must be easily worth 15 points to Spurs, and same goes for De Gea.

But Koeman has been worth 25 points to Southampton IMO.

20 May 2015 09:09:52
For me, Koss the Boss is the best centre back in the prem.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 May 2015 09:46:36
Not this season Rooster mate he hasn't been, as much as I don't like the person John Terry has become he has always been an outstanding centre back but this season he somehow got even better still.
Rose coloured gleess and what ever the opposite of them are shouldn't stop us being honest and giving credit where its due.

fingers crossed he's past it soon though g62! its impressive he's played every single minute!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2015 17:36:29
I hear you on JT, strong season for sure. My defense of Koss is that JT had protection all over the pitch, Matic (& other DM's), Cahill, Ivanovic and one of the 2 best keepers in the league (world?).

Koss had no real DM, Schezza, merts etc that's a lot of ground to cover, so not really rose colored glasses, just respect for a difficult job that Koss has to do. Not sure if JT could cover all those holes nearly as well.

Personally if any club can overtake chelsea reckon it's you lot. But do you think you can and if so who could you realistically get to do so?

You've got a great team and money, but IMO:
- best manager in the BPL? Mourinho
- best player? hazard
- best defence? Chelsea
- best midfield? Chelsea
- best striker? Costa
- best squad? Again probably chelsea

But you have some great players spread around the park but think you may need 3/4 to overtake them.

For me, realistically-ish: Cech, Schneiderlin, higuain (but he is signing for lfc - fingers crossed and vodka downed), & pushing it a bit hummels.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

19 May 2015 20:08:54
Are you a Chelsea supporter by any chance? Lol.

I agree with your assessment.
Cech, Schneiderlin and Higuain would certainly push us up another level.

Genuine lfc fan but can't ignore their quality. Hate to see it and more to say it but have got a great set up and strolled to this seasons title

I know Roland, was only kidding mate.

Hate to say it, but they are the benchmark.

Finish above them and you win the league.

imo chelseas squad is remarkably weak. 1st team is obviously very strong, but they didn't change the team much for a reason and were very lucky with injuries. if they were hit with a couple injuries i think they would really suffer.
def:
1st: terry, ivanovic, aspilicueta, cahil
reserve: zouma, luis, ake, christensen
mid
1st: hazard, fab, oscar, willian, matic
reserve: mikel, cuadrado, loftus-cheek, brown, baker
attack:
1st: costa
reserve:drogba, remy, solanke

SrZ sags, but still reckon you've got the best chance to de-throne them! And although think he should have won more over the past 10 years, would love to see Wenger leave on a league title. Class act, could give BR a tip or ten

As for a weak second team....remy, Oscar, caudrado, Cech, Zouma, Luis, Ramirez aren't bad players....that's not mentioning mikel!

The james Milner who plays for England no thanks but the James Milner who not only holds his own but quite often stands out in a man city team that cost a fortune why ever not!
For me the contrast between his international and club performances are amazing because of the quality of players he plays with and I like to think he would look good for us too.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

19 May 2015 19:25:00
Sorry mate but no to Milner, no to Richards, no to Song, no to Hummels, no to Sissoko, no to Reid, no to a multitude of players that won't take us forward, we don't have to make do with players nearing the end of their careers.

£165,000 a week, jeez Sanchez and Ozil aren't on that. Where would you play him and instead of who.

He's by no means poor but we surely have to look higher, besides he's only 5'3". ;-)

19 May 2015 20:01:16
Guess I'm not top of your list to replace Arsene in two years then Red :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2015 20:11:23
Agree with Red, but I would have definitely taken Winston Reid.

Schneiderlin and Benzema will do for me.

Now, that's an upgrade.

19 May 2015 20:35:30
I think Milner is decent but I don't see him getting into our starting 11 if everyones fit, so I can't see him joining us. He's played the majority of games for City this season but still wants more playing time, he won't find that at the emirates. But if he decides to take a pay cut to be a squad player, then bring him over, better back up than welbeck on the wing anyway.

Your top of the list on most things, but no, not the new manager. That's Derby's job when he gets back. ;-)

So my visit to the Emirates wasn't all that fun at the final whistle but everything prior to it was amazing!

From start to almost finish I had a stupid grin on my face just because I was there!

Even took the stadium tour the day before the game and the facilities as fantastic.

Got to see where "the man" does his team talk:
https://goo.gl/Yau1vb

Got to see that tunnel the team uses to come out onto the field of battle:
https://goo.gl/JDn0Rt

And I also got to see where Diaby's home!

All in all, the best experience EVER!

It's a fantastic place mate, went twice last year, once for a game and another time on a jolly with a mate who was pricing some work in the stadium kitchens, managed to walk up onto the edge of the pitch when no one around.

It really was like a carpet.

Did anybody see Fabregas sending off?

He deliberately kicked the ball, head height, towards the ref and West Brom players.

And Mourinho blames the ref?

What a bottom nugget.

Never been a fan of Milner.

Miller can play wide whilst actually bothering to track back. Personally I think he'd be an ideal fit to give the team balance with sachet the other side and an attack minded bellerin him.

ray parlour basically made a career out of such a role as I remember.

He's also English, versatile and free (bar compensation).

Keeps navas out the team regularly at city to.

But let's get reus instead....cough :)

Agree1 Disagree0

19 May 2015 09:31:01
He's a good direct free-kick taker at least, we could do with one of them. In all seriousness, this rumour can't be anything other than a farce, I hope.

19 May 2015 13:44:36
Seems a perfect signing for us.....if we went back in time 3 years when we had no transfer budget...but i can't see how he would improve us from a 3rd placed team to a 1st (or 2nd)...we really should stop looking at cheap and cheerful options(no offense intended to Mr Milner...I don't mean him per se, just the transfer)and instead go for top, top quality, as Mr Wenger would say....

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2015 13:54:22
Good squad player, pundits will get on our side more, fans who are influenced by the media will look more positively at arsenal, better support = better team morale. Better team morale = trophies. As a player, he's not really my cuppa, but it's hard to argue with his quality this season. I've never liked him at international level, but he's got a good work ethic and could lift the others, even if it's just by that extra percent

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2015 14:30:20
Milner won't be joining us. At 29, wanting high wages and a long deal, he is not for us.

19 May 2015 03:13:01
I think the key to us challenging next season is how well we can contract the game when not in possession. I think key to this will be the fading out of merts, who is liable to being a step or so behind the pace of the game. With this in mind do we put paulista into the starting 11 or do we look externally for a solution? Can I pre empt the suggestion of hummels by saying no, just no. If you don't rate merts you'll hate hummels.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 May 2015 08:41:02
I still rate Merts but would love to see Gabriel and Koscielny together.

Both have pace and can read the game.

19 May 2015 02:59:53
Cruyff the father of contempary footba once said, 'quality without results is pointless, results without quality is boring' I think that just about sums up the approaches of arsenal and chelsea respectively.
