Did no one else see that Rambo toe poked the ball away before any contact with the player? How can people be saying it was a penalty?

I'm still shocked in wasn't Kos.

The slow motion reply showed it and he was well cheesed off about after the final whistle. All pretty irrelevant as we won but defo not a penalty.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely the real question is why on earth the official behind the goal didn't see it was a good tackle. It's a regular occurring point. but what exactly are they for?

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree. that was not a penalty at all. I watched the game from the pub, sure I was full of ale, but even at real-time speed I did notice that Ramsey got the ball first.

Gibbs should be in the England squared as baines back up, but the doppy England manager will keep cole as he has no ambition and will not take any risks,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pains me to say but Cole is still best for England. Partly because he's vastly experienced. Baines and Gibbs are great backups and would make most national teams.

good result yesterday for the arsenal. we played average and got the all important 3 points. there was moments when we could have put the game to bed earlier but had to wait for theo to blast in a superb volley and then Rambo providing the killer goal before giving away a schoolboy error penalty.
Marseille to their credit had their chances too, but good fortune and bad finishing prevented them from capatalising.
we gave them too much space at times and valbuena was beginning to orchestrate the play. we can't afford to give teams like Napoli and Dortmund the same respect.
we were left wide open on the left so that we could accommodate our midfielders, gibbs at times was manning by himself. we looked more compact and had no width apart from theo who was not given the supply to beat a poor left back. giroud had one of his quieter games, jack and ozil had moments but ramsey is becoming the MVP game by game, all the haters who wanted him out on loan - what were they thinking? flamini sat back and marshalled but didn't close down enough imo. defence was sound overall apart from the merti incident but too many headers were won by Marseille, szecs the less said the better he doesn't fill me with confidence, he is a brilliant shot stopper but doesn't distribute well. overall a good confidence booster but will have to pick up their game against rafas Napoli.

ps. why wasn't eisfeld picked, is he injured?because he has the potential to grab a goal.

I think for a squad that ran itself to the ground against sunderland to win that game, doing the same away at the velodrome was not going to be easy.

Jack did not track back to cover gibbs, and to me he is great going forward, but does not offer a defensive option. unless its a bad tackle. similar to someone called scholes who could not tackle to save his life.

the player we need is Arteta. to sit back with Ramsey. and rosicky or caz on the wing to provide cover, while Jack and Ozil rotate. I really do not want to risk jack this early. I understand its injuries but we are taking a massive risk.

How many goals will Ramsey score this year?
How much will Real Madrid bid for Ramsey next year? :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Did Real buy the wrong Welshman?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramsey has now made himself a starting 11 player. Wenger is not going to sell his best players.

Real Madrid do not need another player for that position, neither does Barcelona, bayern, Juventus, Man utd, Man city.

Liverpool and chelsea could do with a player like him, but he's not going anywhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree as I think Man U would love a player like him at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Wenger is not going to sell his best players' you are being ironic right?

Agree0 Disagree0

They tried to get him in 2007. But he chose us

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think wenger has ever wanted to sell his best players. his hand has always been forced.

Did he want to sell cesc? nasri? RVP? thierry? Viera? NO

they forced his hand.

I believe if a player does not want to play for you, you let him go. and we have done exactly that.

I don't see Rambo joining a EPL team, same with Jack, and the addition of Ozil is just going to help them believe we are slowly piecing together a trophy winning team.

Beside being british players and loving their time at Arsenal. its nothing but a good omen.

if we manage to win a trophy in the next two years, which we should it will only spur them on to do better and build legacies and win more

We are no longer a selling club, the very purchase this summer states that. but if Real or Barca were to want one of our players, with the way the market is, 35 million would be the least, and they don't really need a player for that position.

Man utd may want Ramsey, but have they not just got some tall lanky belgian?

i think their issues are to replace their aging defense and attacking midfield.

Very true Lakerville and a way over priced one at that!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville, Rooney apparently has tried to leave ManUtd many times but the managers haven't buckled. Wenger on the other hand seems to have buckled many times over. Also we have shown profit in the last many years purely based on player sales so I think it is a 'strategy' rather than player power (to sell to balance the books).

Ramsey will not be sold next year because I belive with some strengthening in Jan we will win something this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keeping rooney is not their problem. the player at the end of this season will be in the last year of his contract.

who has the power man utd? your sadly mistaken. not only will his price drop, but if they want him badly they will have to pay him what he wants to keep him.

240-250k per week for a player who is not exactly at the same level as van persie to be paid that amount well into his 30's is not exactly a winning move.

while we trimmed of 30 million in wages this summer, Manchester United pay a combined 25 mill a year just for that duo. and while it helps to have massive commerical deals, all it does is make other players want more.

if they sell him he will force his way to chelsea. not something they would want to do.

i trust every move we have made has perhaps taken us a step back, but made us stronger.

liverpool keeping suarez, Manchester United keeping rooney, players are not happy, all it takes is one bad run, one moment and your season can implode.

we may not do things like liverpool or man utd, but one thing for sure. at arsenal no player is bigger than the club. you want out. there is the door. not begging and pleading and media to your advantage. we do it only one way. the Arsenal way.

have faith it will happen for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Laker

Reasonable points about United. We have some youngsters who look good enough to move up but as you say, our defence and midfield is getting older. Rooney is an odd one. The 1st time he was given bad advice from his agent, this time appears to be SAF hanging him out to dry. I'm not his biggest fan but if he maintains his current form, I think we will sign a new deal.

I think the same will apply to Rooney. Despite his behaviour, many fans are happy to forgive him as you saw from the standing ovation he got on Tuesday. A few goals and strong performances and it will all be forgotten. If Moyes keeps picking him and massaging his ego he will re-sign.

It's funny how quickly things change though isn't it and there is nothing as fickle as us football fans. Last year, Ramsey was getting slagged off on here. But look at him now, a real player.

Well done on a great start, it looks really open this year with no stand out team.

I still think we are very weak depth wise, but sod it. I'm loving the roll we are on! True, we have people on the mend and on the way back so that's a touch! If I've got a good feeling like this then I can only imagine the teams thoughts! If. And a big if. We can stay fit and healthy, with people returning like pod and cazorla. We will be mustard!

Just hope we can stay fit! Big IF!
Hoping to see tv5 being rolled in soon, he can see what's going on. He wants in!
Haven't felt this good since 08'
Enjoying it!
Ramsey. Carry on dude, you are proving everybody wrong!
Nothing better then seeing a kid play with confidence.
Wicked. Very happy! Glad theo got a goal. He is and has always been decent! Hope this spurs him on!

I must say I am very impressed with Ramsey. in 6 months he has come from a good player to possibly on the outside looking in world class player.

He has a long way to go to be identified with the best, but his ball distribution, his endless engine, he just oozes confidence, and when we need something, he just steps up and takes responsibility.

about 3 years ago, ( you can check my posts) I stated that ramsey and wilshere would be our version of giggs and scholes, and although I was disappointed last year, it looks like he is back on track.

wilshere seems to be carrying an injury, and we need to rest him, mainly to be healthy for the last run in.

Ozil was quiet most of the game, but when he did get the ball, he was dangerous with it, its only a matter of time, before we are running circles around most opposition.

i only hope we can attract mata to arsenal from chelsea. I know we have many midfielders, but mata can play on either wing, a false 9. and the passing would be insane.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Lakerville, I also defended Ramsey when lots of others constantly critisized him (they know who they are) this boy has natural class but more than that even when he is having a bad game he gives 110%, he would even go in goal if you needed him to.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was quite obvious Ramsey was a great player in bad form but I think wilshere and ramsey will be our version of xavi and iniesta

Agree0 Disagree0

Xavi & Inesta? god let's hope.

where is my humble pie when I need to eat some. make some more damn you.
