Just saying.

Could you imagine if wengers pulled off the signings off
Mahrez, Lacazette and Mustafi before the season starts 😳

I would melt πŸ˜ƒπŸ€˜πŸΌ.

They don't want theo then.

Was on the liverpool rumours site earlier and saw a poll that said over 30% of their fans thought they'd win the league. just found it hard to believe after years of being inconsistent that they have such faith in their team. Would like if the Eds could do the same poll for this page as I think the majority would agree we will struggle to win the league

Cheers.

I went for 3rd, but if we sign Johnny Evans, will change that to 23rd.

It's wengers last year and I believe in fairytales. When it suits.

You obviously haven't met many liverpool fans then.

Agree0 Disagree3

I'm guessing Steve voted for 6th Ha can't see us slipping that far we're still a decent team but see back to winning our favourite trophy this year.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Aug 2016 00:49:24
Dublin I wouldn't have voted to have finished that high lol. But its a lot more realistic than the dreamers who put first. Some people just don't understand their football.

Agree0 Disagree3

02 Aug 2016 01:06:18
Surprised with the amount of firsts after all the doom and gloom on here the past few weeks. thought our fans would have realised by now we ain't winning the league with the current board and Wenger involved.

02 Aug 2016 07:04:37
I've just voted

Very surprised with some of the results.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Aug 2016 07:22:42
People have voted what they want not where they would be u happy to place this week's wages.
No one would be silly enough to put anything like a week's money on Arsenal to win this seasons premier league, well maybe Welsh might but he don't count because he Asked for odds on Arsenal to win a la liga Euro 2016 double in the season ahead.

I believe we'll win the league until proven othervise. No need to start the derpession before we're out of the title race (about midnovember properly) .

Agree1 Disagree2

02 Aug 2016 10:57:54
My heart will always say first, but if we don't buy a defender and striker I just cannot see how we will finish above the likes of United and City, heck even Chelsea again. Its the same ol' "we are players away" form being great. Nothing has changed at this moment, but come the end of August if Mahrez, Lacazette and Mustafi join. first first first first!

02 Aug 2016 17:43:35
Quite honestly i find Liverpool fans to be some of the most deluded and arrogant ever. In one sense they're kinda similar to arsenal fans in that every year you believe it will be your year. Although I do have to give you guys credit as you usually snap back to reality before the season even starts πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œ.

Agree4 Disagree0

02 Aug 2016 19:33:23
I went for 2nd. Can't see us winning, but really don't think the other teams will be that much better than last year.

This, from an agent.

"If a club comes in for a player, we quote them a price. If an English Prem League club comes in for the same player, we double it".

Cheers mate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2016 22:16:14
TV money mate, if the bloke next door asks you to name your price for your car you might consider market value but if a Euro millions said " that's a nice motor how much you want for it? " You'd be a fool not to ask for more than its worth and chance your arm.
The premier league is awash with money and it's only natural others will want to take advantage of that fact.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 23:10:57
That's all good and well G62 but if a club is willing to sell for 10 million and a club from another country offer the 10 million and then a club from England offer 11million they will sell to England! They might chance their arm but in fairness to Arsenal we stick to a valuation that we think is reasonable. We are obviously going to wait and see if other clubs pay the buy it now price and we will wait till the end of the auction. A club will want to sell players as part of a strategy! It's all cat and mouse. I think if the right player comes then we will make a purchase. After much thought I can't blame Arsenal for been this way I know we were disappointed with second but it's better than third. I understand the discontent but I remain hopeful! That's the beauty of the game! I would rather be exited with anticipation than be constantly worrying.

Agree0 Disagree2

02 Aug 2016 01:09:32
Sanogo 2nd is not better than 3rd in my opinion when you look at the table and how everyone performed last year. It was a complete failure in my opinion. Remind me what trophy we got for finishing 2nd.

Agree4 Disagree0

02 Aug 2016 07:38:46
Everyone is worth what people will pay to get them and if we won't pay the asking price and other clubs will that's their value no matter what Arsenal think it should be.
If Arsenal say we think a players worth 15 million but West Ham and Spurs offer 20 we won't be getting that player that's how it works for everyone and whether we like it or not we are no exception.

Really want him to do well, but I have to be brutally honest and say chambers looks an accident waiting to happen every time he plays.
In fact, he looks just crap really.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

01 Aug 2016 21:14:32
I am not sure what his best position is tbh, he needs regular competitive games on loan. I would not be against loaning him out to a championship side once we get another CB. I think Chambers may become a decent DM but needs time in this position. Holding looks a decent backup thus far and you can see the advantage of having regular competitive games in the championship has done for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 18:06:03
Praise for Rob Holding

He's had a great couple of games, slotted in with his teammates well. I must say I'm impressed by what I've seen of him so far. Hopefully keeps impressing πŸ‘πŸ».

Completely agree jegooner not going to get ahead of myself but I hope he turns out to be a stone's of sort bought cheaply by everton from Barnsley I believe and now valued at 50 but money aside hope he could be the future for us and England here's hoping ayy.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 21:09:16
He has done good so far, certainly ahead of Chambers in the pecking order for me, the advantage of playing regular in a physical and competitive championship no doubt. Hard to say what his potential is from just few pre season games but alongside Kos I am not so fearful of him in our 1st Team as I was beforehand now. Still need another experienced hand though.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 21:58:12
2 pretty season games?
That isn't near enough for me to start forming an opinion, Chambers looked fantastic for a short while in the premiership now look at him.

Agree0 Disagree3

Can play Right Back as well as Centre Half and has bags of composure.

He likes to play the ball out as opposed to just hoofing it.

Great prospect.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 22:24:25
I think if we keep this form up we might win the pre season friedly European league championship. Only joking! . Please please don't take the form of players in friendlies, that's very misleading. To slate a guy is just as bad as bulling one up. They are fitness games, that's all.

Agree3 Disagree1

01 Aug 2016 22:33:52
Like you say chaps he's very composed ala stones and playing competitive football regular helps heeps. Let's hope we see more of him πŸ‘πŸ»

just trying to lighten the mood mate #jumponboard.

I really can't believe you're making such a big thing out of 2 pre season games that he didn't even play a full 90 minutes in either, I really hope he's the next solid cd that plays for years winning things on the way, but I'm not making a judgement on a boy from a couple of nothing games.

01 Aug 2016 11:18:32
With the new season fast approaching I am feeling quietly optimistic. We have released the trio of players that were kept at least a season too long (Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky) . We have signed two excellent players, Xhaka and Holding. We are well aware that we need a defender and a forward to cover the long term injured duo, Mertesacker and Welbeck. Assuming Ospina stays, we have the goalkeeping spot sorted.

Defensively, assuming we buy a CB, we have cover in all positions. RB at present we have Debuchy to cover or Chambers and in November Jenkinson returns from injury, . Ideally, I would like us to sell Debuchy and Jenkinson (when fit) and buy a new RB. Midfield-wise we have many options. For the main striker role we have Giround, Akpom and Walcott that can all fill the role, but a striker is being sought.

We really are only two players short of a very competitive squad, so let's get behind Wenger and the team and stop moaning. Imagine we bring in Mustafi and Lacazette or similar, then we will have had a decent window.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

01 Aug 2016 11:54:29
I'd have Joel Campbell ahead of Theo and Akpoom as Girouds cover. Low center of gravity, hard to get off the ball with a trick or two to turn a defender and a decent finisher. Also technically very proficient.

That's of course if we fail to buy a CF but if we were working with what we had, he deserves a chance.

Agree4 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 14:47:37
I'm not sure Joel will be in an Arsenal shirt by the time the window closes Ulster mate, for some reason Arsene doesn't seem to rate him as highly as Theo or Ox.
I thought he took his chance well last season when they were both out imired but for some reason he was soon relegated to the bench and then squad as others got fit.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 10:41:00
If the rumour is true, I think Ashley Williams would be a good shout. Again a bit of a blast from the past though. I think journalists are just hitting copy and paste at the moment. Also, has anybody seen Lacazette's strike ratio? It isn't overly convincing, it is about the same as Giroud.

Believable0 Unbelievable10

01 Aug 2016 13:34:01
Whats his strike rate in the past 3 seasons vs giroud.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 14:11:38
Hi Xhaka going by the last three seasons: it is 55 % against 47 % Bear in mind the goals were in the French league and quite a few were in the French equivilant of the league cup. Giroud's ratio in France was 60 %.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 14:12:35
Different teams. Different players around them. Let's try not to be negative about any potential signings I don't want that spreading on here please.

Agree3 Disagree3

01 Aug 2016 14:33:57
Hi D16, sorry I am normally a bit more positive. I think Xhaka is a great signing in terms of leadership quality as well as class. Also his stats match his value. I also think Giroud can be under rated at times, considering he has had to hold the line on his own. He also does a lot more than just score goals. I am definatley up for Williams joining if that is true.

Agree0 Disagree2

01 Aug 2016 17:15:58
Lol it was tongue in cheek joke don't worry :) . I see so many people comparing giroud with these players. Even pro pundits. But it's just not that simple. People say similar scoring records. But it's difficult as he has ozil cazorla Ramsey Alexis and now Xhaka who are great passers and give him chance after chance. Compared too Lacazette who doesn't have those type of quality players around him. I really reckon he'd score a lot more than giroud in time.

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Aug 2016 17:35:43
D16 lacazette would get goals for fun with those players around him.

Let's get the deal done.

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Aug 2016 08:57:08
I really don't understand all the fuss about utd paying Β£100 million for Progba, good for them.
What's the point of all that new TV money sitting in the bank, if city utd and Chelsea can bring exciting top players to the premier league its good news for everyone who ultimately pays those millions through there subscriptions.
Surely the ones who are letting their fans and the wider premier league audience down are those clubs that don't reinvest the money and pay out higher dividends to share holders instead, no names mentioned of course:-)
Kenny Dalglis when manager of Liverpool first time round once said " our fans would rather see our profits running around in Red shirts than go to the tax man ' and he was right too.

Very well said G62.

Agree4 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 09:49:15
It's not the amount for me it's whether in truth he is worth that sum of money, clearly he is nowhere near worth that amount of money.

Β£60 million got you Kante and Micky Tarian, I know who I'd rather have.

European clubs and players agents know the Premier league is awash with money, add that to Uniteds needs and they get royally butt humped on both counts whilst the rest just one.

Agree0 Disagree3

01 Aug 2016 10:31:12
Yea I'm not opposed to spending that. Just not on one player. I quite like that we don't throw around stupid money.

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Aug 2016 10:45:18
well they can afford it so why not. they got the player they wanted.

the only negative effect is all future transactions may have unrealistic benchmarks, and it may just help them to be play in that market, as i do not see bayern or Barcelona or even madrid play with such figures.

but as you said if they have the money i guess they are in a position to spoil their fans.

the total figure being reported is 145 mill euros, so that's big money.

Agree4 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 12:58:52
Every player is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for them, no more no less.
Fergie always paid over and above to get what he wanted like Rooney Ferdinand and RVP everyone questioned thier price tag at the time but they soon looked like bargin buys as the united trophy cabinet got more and more pushed for space.

Agree4 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 08:57:07
Oh Walcott. That lad makes me cry when i watch him play lol all because he has magnificently forgotten how to play football. I think he should be playing for the reserves while Willock replaces him. Poor Walcott, what else could he offer. I reckon he needs the touch of an angel to revive him lol.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

01 Aug 2016 01:54:14
I have a theory that our real target will be a player at a big team that nobody is expecting us to get, like Ozil or Alexis were. Totally off the radar, highly priced but at least appropriate for the player quality.

Bale anyone? ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed007's Note - Well he's not doing any more Batman films.}

01 Aug 2016 08:28:21
As Les Dennis would say, " if it's there I will give you the money me self" were looking for Gareth Bale to Arsenal is it there? X.

Agree3 Disagree1

01 Aug 2016 09:12:22
so after wenger said he won't be spending 100 mill on a player you reckon madrid feel like bale is worth less than pogba?

considering they are having trouble selling the players they want to sell i do not see them selling a player they do not want to sell.

Aubameyang, griezzman are the only two who come in that category which could cost 70 mill and from the two only aubameyang may consider it, cause griezzman is at a club which has made 2 champions league finals.

Agree3 Disagree0

01 Aug 2016 11:23:30
Well, Wenger has a habit of timing his big purchases. On the back of Real signing Bale, he was able to sign Ozil. On the back of Barcelona signing Suarez, he was able to sign Sanchez. I still have a strong suspicion that we may get Mahrez, a striker and a CB. There is the whole of August to go and I have a feeling the Pogba deal will kick off several transfers, as Man United offload players to pay towards the deal.
