When it's sunny I always think beer garden.

When it's raining I usually sit in the pub and moan about it.

And when it's snowing and cold there's nothing better I like to do than sit in front of tele all warm with a few beers.

You know what? I beginning to think I have a problem with the weather.

I was lying in the garden today, enjoying the sun and having a beer.

Mrs Dags was cutting the grass with our clapped out 10 year old lawn mower.

The woman next door looked over the fence and shouted, "look at you, relaxing and drinking beer, while your poor wife is cutting the grass. You should be bloody well hung".

"I am", I said, "that's why she's cutting the grass".

Well i said i wldnt post till the new season but steve coxed me in. So my thoughts i don't think so schinderlin will improve us to be honest more of a box to box mid than a DM of which we have, so someone else but then the question whom, i am sure arsene will spend th cash even to play second fiddle to coq because i thought he has earned that spot. A striker do we sign one after seeing what wallcott can do, a diff kind of player to Giroud the one which will make runs for the likes pf ozil cazorla and alexis to pick. I thought scz had a good game came out for all balls and was strong, again a different keeper to ospina who wldnt. I think we neee an upgrade on LB to gibbs, and a CB i don't see merts playin that much next season so yes CB. Plans of using Beliek as DM? And i seriously would love to see some of the youth promoted, this season its been just bellerin and le coq, would love to see more of zelalm, akpom, crowley.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Jun 2015 18:59:24
My heart says keeper and CB but my head says a very top striker too.
Monreal is good enough and Gibs as good as number 2 as could be reasonably expected.
Gabriel looks good to me and may well become a regular starter during next season but with Calum over a prolonged period we would struggle to maintain a strong challenge.
Le Coq has proved himself to me but we do need someone who could do a similar job if injured knacked or suspended.
Striker can't be a gamble like Benteke he's got to be very top draw proven.
Keeper is Cech whatever it takes to get him.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 22:43:51
Not advocating this but if Ramsey were to be off to Barca for $50 mil and Spyder to us for $25 mil, we might be able to buy a nice treat (Jackson Martinez?) with the proceeds. Plus $10 mil for Cech and wouldn't be the worst summer and we would lose a helluva a player.

If Ramsey thought some of the gunner faithful lost turned on him when he lost his form for a season (you know who you are!)… wait til he gets a load of Barca.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 23:17:14
I think we need a keeper - cech
Another CB - don't see chambers being anywhere near good enough yet.
DM to provide cover and competition for le coq.
A quality striker

And hell if either Reus or Pedro becomes available buy em too.

But if we got cech, schneiderlin and a decent striker id be over the moon.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 00:53:40
Agree with some of what you said but you obviously know my stance on the whole caboodle. Coq needs help and competition, ala sniiderling, walcott really untested as striker and his ability to last more than five games so a striker ala martinez. A center back to take merts load a goalie to accompany ospina. That then might see us push for second. You all know what I think to win the league, but basically the squad in a few places needs boosting.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 17:58:07
With Klopp stating that he will be taking an indefinte break from managing, is he opening himself up the possibility of taking over for Wenger in the future?

What is the most recent speculation as to Wenger's timeline remaining at the club and could we realistically see Klopp taking over as the next Arsenal manager?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Jun 2015 23:10:59
Arsene won't leave before his contract ends, and Klopp won't wait 2 years before looking for a new job. But to be honest, if Arsene brings us the premier league title I could see him signing a new contract and I hope he does.

dags iv popped back, wasnt after the game, not had chance but just to say enjoy the summer and transfer window.

iv not been on much and its not because of humble pie etc its a genuine family incident, aka dementia. not easy.

but my points have always been., we need world class striker. a goalie aka cech. and arteta getting injured was a massive plus for us. le coq would be on his way to ligue 1 if not right now. will wenger win the league or champions league in his next two years. personally, no.

but i do hope we do and i'm wrong. as always and this summer is massive. let the dead wood go and move on. that includes rosicky, flamini. diaby, arteta. joel campbell. sanogo.

if we sign cech i will get excited but if he keeps our goalies you know the titles gone in my eyes.

so all in all solid season and improvement.

red dog, dags etc take it easy and il pop back with more of the 300 list for next season when i can. take it easy people.

eds thank you for your hard work. xx

Hey Derby,

Sorry to hear that mate, not a great thing to cope with, thoughts are with you fella.

Personally but unlikely I'd love to see a front 3 of Sanchez, Lacazette and Walcott. Don't see the need for another Giroud type player.

I actually think watching Coquelin, taking his football aside, he has the attitude of a winner, he may not be huge in build but he is the bite we have been missing in midfield.

That's why I would be happy with Wanyama, we have Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere and others to do all the flare play in the world we just need another like Coquelin and if you saw Wanyama against Barca a few years back, well that says it all.

Again although I don't see it ever happening Cech would be a great signing.

At some point age is irrelevant, Fergie had no qualms buying an older and injury prone RVP because in that one season he dragged that sorry United side to the title.

Keep smiling mate and drop in when ever you can, well try and keep the 300 going but think you can knock Benteke off the list. ;-)

{Ed001's Note - best of luck Derby, hope it gets sorted, I know it is a difficult thing to cope with mate.}

Question:

If we only signed a holding mid as our only first team player, say for example Schnierdelin for £25m, would that be enough for us to seriously challenge for the title?

Opsina and Szszency are two very good keepers and neither seem to be leaving, so no goalkeeper. We are also well stocked in defence with two players more than adequately covering each position and Jenks to also come back.

Midfield we have more than enough. With Schnierderlin we would have two quality players for every position.

Coquelain/Schnierderlin Ramsey/Wilshere Cazorla/Ozil Walcott/Ox and Sanchez/Campbell. i'm thinking Arteta, Diaby, Rosicky, Podolski and Flamini will all leave and Campbell will stay as he recently signed a new contract. Gnabry, Zelalem and maybe Maitland Niles will play sporadically.

Upfront we have Giroud and Welbeck, If Wenger is planning on using Walcott as a striker like he said he will, then I really can't see us signing a ST either.

From January onwards we have been the best team in the league, debatelable but it is evident we have been playing much better and looked way more solid. The majority of the squad is young and will only get better, and players like Sanchez, Ozil, Waloctt, Ramsey and Koscielny are in the prime years of their careers (I know Kos is 28/29 but that tends to be best age for CBs).

I think avoiding a huge injury crisis and one, maybe two major editions we will be proper title contenders.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

01 Jun 2015 10:29:30
For me a very top keeper is a must because both our keepers are ok but they won't be the winning factor in a title race but could over a season be the deciding factor.
Cover not upgrade on Le Coq would do for me, he's already very good at what he does and may well become more than that next season.
Love Olly to bits but his finishing isn't good enough so would have to say sign the best striker we can get our hands on but not an if but maybe one like Austen or Benteke to replace Olly they've got to be 100% proven.
Midfield is already heavily congested so little sense in adding to it unless someone very very special wanted to join us.
But we can't just add we do need to let players who are over 30 and unlikely to play anything like regular go like Arteta what is the point for him or us Rosicky too brilliant in their day but their day is done.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 10:43:35
If it's going to be only two major additions it would have to be a striker and a holding mid.

If Theo is going to play a more central role next season, it could be the difference alone, but I still believe to give the side the best balance he needs to be on the right, with a top goal scorer in the middle, Martinez or Benzema would be ideal. Otherwise we may run into last season's problem and play with next to no width and just keep hitting walls trying to walk it through the middle.

I still reckon we need a keeper as well. Szczesny and Ospina both worry me. As well as Szczesny did on Saturday, he didn't have an awful lot to do, and he just has this cockiness and arrogance about him that does him no favours and can lead to errors. And Ospina's lack of height is always a worry in the PL, if he misjudges a ball coming into the box against the likes of Stoke and Chelsea, it could cost us dearly. Cech would be nice but ideally a young talent like Leno.

You're right though mate, avoiding an injury crisis is the main thing. Keep this current squad fit and I believe we can mount a decent title challenge.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 10:45:48
I don't think Schnierdilen will strengthen us by much. Is he really going to do a better job then Le Coq? Le Coq has been magnificent this season and the brilliant thing about him is he has gotten stronger as the season has gone on.

He has taken responsibility of the midfield and he is starting to express himself more. he's distribution is improving and he has started to ping cross field passes. He is no Xabi Alonso or Pirlo but he's improving a lot. Next season he will be a lot stronger, wiser and more experienced and he will only get better.

Yes Schnierdilen is a very good player but Le Coq deserves to start as number one next season. 25m seems a lot of money for a back up considering we need a top quality striker.

If i had to pick one position to strengthened it will have to be upfront. Giroud hasn't had any competition for the last two years and this position is vital if we are going to win the league.

If we can get a top striker and Schnierdilen then happy days but if we can only sign one then it has to be a striker. We already have Le Coq

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 11:35:54
I think there's far too great a wave of optimism here, as if everyone has forgotten how many games there will be between mid-August and January. Giroud's finishing gets poor when he gets jaded. He'll start the season well but will need a rest come early December. Likewise, le Coq is first on the teamsheet in my opinion but largely because he's our only true CDM (a very good one at that, mind) but he'll run the risk of injury, same as everyone else. Depth is missing. Add a striker and a CDM (plus ideally a GK) then we can mount a serious title challenge while giving the cups a good run and aiming to reach the QFs in the CL once more

Liverpool are magic Everton are tragic
Emlyn Hughes at a Liverpool victory parade.
I'm sure both E001 and Ed025 remember it with different feelings :-)
It was a different time and world back then and drinking and football went hand in hand,
Today is a very different world where footballers are paid beyond their ability and the price for that money is freedom, their every move is filmed some where by someone with a phone, drinking and even eating the wrong foods is throwned apon because clubs want supreme athletes in supreme condition both mentally and physically.
The money may be there now but in some ways it should be because being a top footballer in todays ganme takes a lot away from young men who need to grow up much faster than their friends if they hope to be all they can be in today's game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Ed025 might remember it, but he is a lot older than me, and most of the known world for that matter. You know that is how creationists get their dating of the world don't you? They base it on Ed025's age.}

01 Jun 2015 09:19:18
:-) I wasn't sure because you remembered Rachael Hey ho the other day I thought you might just about be old enough, Ed025 has probably forgotten it along with most of the 70s and early 1800s

Apparently, and it could just be a rumour.

Dinosaurs did not become extinct because of a meteor crashing into earth.

It was, in fact, they ate one of Ed025's dodgy kebabs and got food poisoning.

Like I said, it might just be a rumour, but there's no smoke without fire.

just wanted to ask you all something, if you's were neutrals or supporters of other teams (not spurs)would you find it a big deal in jack leading the chant about spurs at the victory parade? i know there may have been kids there but saying the word s h i t isn't the end of the world.
just makes me think are the papers etc making a big deal of it because he said that or where he's been in the headlines a couple of times before about other things?
be interesting to hear your thoughts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Jun 2015 07:16:26
I don't see anything wrong with te swearing side, like you said its a fairly tame swear word. And parents with kids there would be very niave to think their children haven't already heard it or use it themselves

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 08:12:15
As a neutral very few will care, spurs I doubt they will be that bothed but Arsene and the club will be wishing he hadn't done it which to me is where the real problem is.
He just doesn't have any self disapline or sense of responsibility but his mates will be pleased with him.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 08:21:42
I'm a Chelsea fan and whilst I believe he probably shouldn't have done it, it really is not a big deal. Yes there were children in the crowd but when there are thousands of football fans there it doesn't matter if Jack swears or not, either way the children will hear other people swearing. Although despite saying that I do believe Wilshere needs to start acting like more of a role model, instead of smoking and swearing- especially since he spends more time on the treatment table than on the pitch!

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 09:09:17
I agree with all that Saim, Jack lives on how potentially good he could be not is, in truth 3 years ago he was our future but sine then Belerin Ox Walcott Ramsey have all left him behind but I'm not sure Jack can see that because his hangers on are keeping his ego well topped up, for now.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 00:26:45
Jack you silly boy.

We all love a bit of banter and taking the Micky out of Spurs, but yesterdays parade, with thousands of fans and as many TV camera's is not the time or place to engage thousands of people in the "what do you think of Tottenham?" Song.

Love him to bits, but he really needs to think before he speaks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Jun 2015 01:57:22
i posted something about this basically saying i don't see the big deal in it, thinking that where jacks made the headlines for other things recently it's been made a big deal

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 08:01:23
I really don't think it's a big deal. If you took your your child to a arsenal game you're going to hear 60.000 plus singing it.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 08:07:56
Personally I don't think it was anything to get over excited about one way or the other but would the club rather he had or hadn't done it is the real question?
For me this shows jacks lack of restraint again and an inability to hold back when in the public eye and like Gazza he will never forfil his full potential because of his personality rather than his ability.
Jack Balotelli why always them?

Still super happy with FA Cup win.

But, we need to step up and get ruthless if we want to challenge Chelsea for the title.

We need to get rid of Diaby, Arteta, Flamini, Podolski, Campbell, Rosicky (with regret) and Jenkinson (with regret).

We can raise a lot of revenue through transfer fee's and saved wages, and reinvest in younger and better players.

Think I'm mad?

Mourinho let Lampard go, arguably Chelsea's best ever player, bought Fabregas, and won the league.

We need to do similar.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Jun 2015 07:17:56
I would keep Campbell and Jenkinson, loan out Gnabry and Bellerin.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 08:04:51
I don't think Campbell is good enough for this level. Especially the amount of talent we have up top. Jenks should go on loan or be back up. Think hector has done enough to be our number 1 right back next season. Gnabry I agree loan him out

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 08:25:44
I'd let all you said but Jenks go Dags and would be more tempted to keep Jenks as because how long we can hang on to Hector is debatable anotger season like this one and Real and Barca will flash their cash for sure.
