not sure how anyone can be negative there are lots of teams yet to play each other in the top 6

our destiny don't look brilliant given our current showing, completely off the pace today, but I sometimes think when we have lots of time to rest we don't play well

i've got to ask my fellow gooners though which one player are you gutted at missing out on in the transfer market in the last 10 years. I should qualify these players have to have had bids and we got gazumped on

i'm finding it hard to pick between Hazard and Suarez but if you pushed me on what we have currently I would have to say suarez, just interested in my fellow gooners opinions

what I wouldn't give for an henry or a bergkamp or a wright right now (all 3 if you could arrange god :) )

but I think we lost the battle but there is still the war to win, but I have to admit we play like today I think we should be looking behind us rather than infront of us

coyfg

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Definitely Suarez for me.

I honestly think he would have had 25 goals by now and we would be about 4/5 points clear.

Agree0 Disagree0

As you know Arsene tried to buy Suarez in the summer and if he had succeeded you would be 10 points clear now.

John Henry played hardball than goodness. That could turn out to be the most significant event this season.

We are pretty focussed at the moment but the last 10 games will be hard

You are still right in the mix but it is getting close to squeaky bum time.

It is just great that Manchester United are not invited to the party.

Liverpool supporcter here.

Don't beat yourselves up so much. You alwacys have a tough time playing at Stoke.

People are finally sitting up and talking about Liverpool being in the title race. We are only ahead of you on goal difference.

10 Cup Finals left for us both in he league. You have some tough fixtures to come but guess what we go to Old Traffor next!

If we can't win the league then as a consolation prize I would want to blitz Manchester United and put 5 past them and I would like you guys to win the league.

Good luck for the rest on the season. Hope you get 29 more points and we get 30.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol, Thank you Tommy Gunn.

Yep, hope you hammer Manchester United and to be honest, and I hate to say this, but I can't see us finishing above you boys.

If we don't win the league, would love to see you boys finish above Chelsea and City.

Agree0 Disagree0

TOMMY GUNN. We were crap Tommy pure and simple.!

everyone should just wait until after spurs game 2 judge our chances because chelski lost @stoke and look @ how their seasons changed now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Chelsea lost to stoke in December. With still 6months left of the season. There's now only just over 2 months left so you can't use Chelsea's result as a comparison.

I'm not going to post from the heart because if I do I would say how disappointed I am with today's performance/team selection/players attitude/wengers attitude and ultimately, result.

Instead, I am going to take a leaf out of Gunner62's book (somebody whom I greatly admire) and think positive thought's.

This season thus far, compared to last, has been a huge success. We have significantly more points and more team spirit.
Last season, this time of year, we were languishing in about 7th or 8th place, going nowhere and looking like a lost team.

Where are we now? up there in the dizzy heights. Ok, we have just dropped to 3rd, our lowest position for a long time this season.

Thing's are not looking good for us, in all honesty. We have picked up 4 points from out last 4 games. We have hit a bad run of form at the wrong time.
If we want to win the league, we should be going to places like Stoke and beating them, just like Liverpool did at Southampton.

But, we have to remain confident and continue to support the boys. We have Everton (H), Spurs (A), Chelsea (A) and Man City (H). If i'm honest, I can only see us picking up 4 points again because we always bottle the big games.

But, we must remain positive and keep the faith and if we get a bit of luck we may pick up more than 4 points.

Call it defeatist, but I will now be happy to finish 3rd or 4th, qualify for CL, regroup in the summer, spend some money, get 2 or 3 very good players and kick on for the following season.

And before anybody has a good moan at me, please note I have been Gooner for over 40 years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have to hand it to stoke they did everything we didn't, well with a little bit of help from the ref (a spurs fan by chance :?)

but I have a question where in the team would you replace?

for me its a no brainer, so assuming you were the manager with 120 million what would you buy?

my answer a world class f**king forward, our front line are not good enough, giroud is a squad player someone for the smaller teams. to rotate in as a backup.

we are the arsenal and have been screaming out for nearly 10 years for a world class forward (i've blocked out robin van c**k face)

please god let us buy a superstar striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, that should be Everton (A)

Agree0 Disagree0

Definitely a forward.

Luis Suarez (wont happen)
Diego Costa (maybe but will prob go Chelsea)
Alvaro Morata (will be amazing for us)
Karim Benzema (we will get the best out of him)

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think what you said near the end is defeatist. As soon as both transfer windows closed 3rd/4th was still the most REALISTIC result we could achieve.
Now we could still win the FA cup. That would appease fans, well for 24hours post winning of course. Then the realisation that once again we failed to compete the entirety of the season kicks in.
Something really does need to change in a big way. Whether that's managerial or just an overhaul in players. I feel it's more than 2/3 players we need. I don't see the players we have fit the system we are trying to play. For example Arteta and Wilshere as the holding pair just doesn't work for me. Jack needs to be further forward. He didn't like it but some of his best performances this season when he was playing left side of the 3 advanced midfield. Arteta is a great squad player but his lack of pace and let's be honest he ain't a defensive midfielder.
In a season where we could have taken advantage of 3 of the top teams changing manager we hesitated believing the same philosophy that has bared no fruit in the past 8 seasons would work, instead it has allowed other teams like Liverpool and to an extent Everton to gain and the others down the road have maintained there position despite what could be said as an awful season for them.
After George Graham left, the club made a bold move getting rid of Bruce Rioch after only a short spell in charge. What a gamble that was and how it payed off. Something needs to change on that scale at the end of this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the change this that etc is a question beyond us gooners, i'm after team changes they matter more than who is running the team, what I would like is a world class proctologist to be on call for jan 1st to jan 31st and jun 1st to sept 1st and his whole aim is to keep removing wengers cheque book from his inventive places he finds to store it

i have to mark this season right now on all form as the one that could have been and the one that got away

i hope we get the fa cup but there is a small matter of citeh still being in it and with our forward line I doubt they are bricking it

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone who thinks this team only needs a few players is off their head. Certain players need replaced and additions are needed.

Stoke are a scummy, dirty club but we let them bully us time and time again. If we actually showed some fight and grit we might actually bully them for a change!

Every transfer window for the last god knows many years has been a shambles. We had the chance this season to go big and win the lot. Did we? No. Ozil papered over the cracks.

Wenger is holding us back. I love the guy but he's never moved with the times. We need a big spend over the next window or too. Inject some proper world class quality into this team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Mar 2014 21:49:47
everyone and his dog could see what was going to happen if we did not sign some players in Jan.
How Mr Wenger did not see this is beyond me.
Wenger has no excuses, he has blown the season with the whole Kallstrom nonsense,

sometimes it is so frustrating being a gooner.

hope iam wrong though

we now need something to change maybe blood some youth? again its clear we are lacking pace, Gnarby had to start along with Ox with Flamini in the midfield.
I would of had Flams and Jack in the middle with Cazola in front, and Ox and gabs out wide, much more balanced, then you can bring Ozil on and he can pick out players making runs ahead rather then having to pass back all the time. His bad form is more to do with Wenger's team selection then his actual ability.
But wenger prefers playing names and having the more technical players playing rather than having a balanced team
Whats even more worrying its team selection that's costing us points
lets hope wenger stops trying to prove everyone wrong and starts to see sense

WITH THE RIGHT TEAM PLAYING WE CAN HAVE ANYONE ON ARE DAY

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wenger will not see sense.
He's making the same catastrofuking decisions he has made every season for the last 9 years.
Totally unacceptable that we should lose today with the players we had - not only on the pitch but on the bench aswell.
And hitching about stokes physical play when you know exactly how they will play is pathetic. I thought we bought Flamini to add a bit of bite, this game was made for him

We all live our lives how we wish and are entitled to an opinion but there's something that really puzzles me!
Why do some people only ever post on the bad days?

This season the regulars have shared some fantastic highs on this site and yes we have had few disappointing days too but over all the highs have we'll out numbed the lows this season.

Those of you who only come on here to have a go at the team and or manger on bad days really are missing out.

Give the good days a go people, you might just find you like them, fun is a good thing HONEST

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said Gunner and for what its worth, genuinely sorry ya couldn't of at least got a draw today with your run of fixtures this month. Keep the spirits up, its not over til it's over. I know for sure I'll be 1 of many reds who'll be hoping you win every game in the premiership this march :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree G62, I noticed that earlier.

Simonpw, you sir, are forever a gentleman and a credit, not just to LFC but to football itself.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Simon mate and well done today.
Its make or break for us now and I'm not to sad about that to be honest.
When almost every one is writing us off and predicting our meltdown is often when we come good.
Maybe this time those Arsenal fans who want Arsene out more than team success will have a good spell and meltdown they long for will come but they are used to disappointment so won't be surprised if it doesn't

Agree0 Disagree0

Simonpw

I am also a liverpool supporter yet I like most others was surprised yet made up that stoke got all 3 points against 1 of our main rivals to finishing as high as possible in a premier league season which is far from over.
I also like you have a lot of time for arsenal as a club and for many of the supporters who frequent this site with good debate and lots of humour, but I am quite sure there was very few arsenal fans wanting us to get any points in our game against southampton. that generous nature you have is endearing indeed, but usually good teams find a way to bounce back after advesity, and arsenal have quite a few very good players quite capable of finishing the season very strong and it is quite possible they will finish that 1 point above us you were dissapointed they dident get today.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Sizemick.

I always read your posts from the 'Pool site and you are a true gent

Agree0 Disagree0

Sizemick,
so your telling me that you would prefer they wouldn't get a result against chelsea, spurs, and city in their coming games. Well I'll be cheering them on from the rafters in each game, I'm not ashamed to admit it. I'm sure there will be plenty of them cheering for us against chelsea, city and spurs too. I've said time and time again if we don't win it I'd rather they win it than the money clubs, chelsea and city.

Agree0 Disagree0

Simonpw,

As a liverpool supporter I want what is best for my team on all occasions, but if 2nd is where we were to finish then I would like that to be to Arsenal F.C, a club with great traditions, fantastic history, some rearly knowledgeable and very witty supporters as this site clearly shows, and also with a manager who trains players to play the way I have always enjoyed watching.
I never mentioned anything about the up coming fixtures they have, and not wishing to fall out with a fellow kopite i'm afraid we differ once more.
At this stage of the season I would prefer arsenals next 2 premier games to end in a draw, versus spurs and chelsea, then I hope they wallop man city, this is the series of results I think would give my own team the best possible chance of finishing as high as we can, or even winning our 1st league title since my eldest son was born ( and he is no longer a teenager ). however I do wish arsenal all the very best in the f a cup, and also hope they wallop the germans tuesday week.

Agree0 Disagree0

Many thanks DG,

Along with a few others, you have led the way in the art of real football banter, remaining loyal to your own colours yet respectful of opposing clubs with articulate, thought provoking, and often witty manner. If I ever manage to save enough money to get a ticket for an Arsenal - Liverpool game at the Emirates I would love to meet up for a pint (maybe several) pre-game or for the post match inquest.
You too are a true gent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sizemick,
although it may not seem like it I feel exactly the same. When I said I wanted them to get a result in the 3 games I was hoping for 3 draws too tbh, but don't say it too loud on here lol. I would never fall out with anyone over a difference of opinion anyway, so keep safe and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sizemick,

I will hold you to that mate. First pint is on me of course.

it will be an absolute disaster if we finish 4th! with the world cup this summer then having a qualifying round to actually get into the c/l we will find it hard to have a team ready for the start if the season and near impossible to have players signed! clubs won't sell untill after the World Cup incase they can increase there value, then after that the players again won't want to sign untill we have c/l guaranteed, the importance of not finishing 4th this year is massive! we need results against Chelsea and City now!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rick I totally agree 4th again would be a major blow, we have to show improvement and that we are moving forward.
3rd place is the minimum requirement to be a successful season for us.

01 Mar 2014 19:42:14
The next 3 games will make or break our season. The best scenario for me is obviously 3 wins the second one being good enough too take us thru. The worst being 3 defeats, if that happens surely the board will not give AW a new contract and leave us with the embarrassing over the top celebrations at Norwich, like Newcastle and West Brom in previous seasons by clinging on to 4th spot( AW, s holy grail.)Another empty season brought on by his one dimensional tactics and lack of transfer activity when we needed it. What I would like to get off my chest is if we have another trophyless season and AW gets his new contract I will not set foot in the Emirates again while that man is manager.Try to enjoy the rest of the weekend people.

I understand the disappointment with todays result, but the negativity regarding the season is mind boggling.
this season (and it seems a lot of people seem to have missed out, is not over yet) has been a huge leap in the right direction for us.
we may not win the league, but being close and competitive is more then good enough for me, for this season that is. especially if we can win the fa cup, which we have a great shot at.
like gunner62 said, we seem to be at our best when everything is against us. I can see this loss coming as a good kick in the butt just in time for the fa cup clash with everton. it will keep us on our toes, hopefully a victory their will kick our season on big time.
theres no need to be upset about the season, the game yes, but don't rule out the season yet. there are plenty of twists and turns to go yet. let's just enjoy the ride, and i'm sure there will be something to cherish at the end of the season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its the same old story though we had the opportunity to plug gaps in the squad for some of our on going injured players and as we have done for the last 9 seasons we make do. I am still very positive about this season but it just makes you think that we didn't need to sink to the depths of 11/12 and 12/13 if we had bought a player of ozils quality in at the end of the 10/11 season where we got so close to breaking the emirates curse but instead we let our 5 best players leave the club over the next 2 seasons just makes you think what might have been. I have and will support the players until the day I die!!COYG!

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post Waq
At the start of the season I said to be competitive again and a. top 3 finish will be an big step forward for this season.
We have been competing at the top for the first time in years and it isn't over yet, yes a couple of bad results and its a fight for 3rd but a couple of good results and it's game on again

Agree0 Disagree0

Waq1

Sorry mate but you can only judge if it has been a HUGE leap in the right direction at the end of the season, 'if ' we finish 4th then we haven't improved no bones about that . For me what is becoming more and more apparent is, the failure to put £50,000,000 on the table for Suarez, not signing a true world class striker looks like being a bit of a blunder .

Agree0 Disagree0

Banbury mate, spot on, but things like that go back 9 seasons. Missing out on mata, hazard, cahill, higuain and others by a few million. Then loosing players like nasri, rvp, cole and others for a few thousand in wages. Call them players what you like but if they had seen the ambition in the club they would have stayed. They all moved to win something. People have a right to moan when the club charges the highest seat prices and strikes the biggest sponsorship deals and then deals with the bargain buys.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Mar 2014 19:27:08
Can we have a vote eds. Will we qualify for the champions league or not. Only joking! I hope.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Mar 2014 19:25:11
I think Podolski should change his name to " Lucas Substitute Podolski " and should change his jersey no to "67" because most of time he gets substituted at 67th min. As regard to Mr Oliver Giroud, think he would be better actor than a footballer, because the way the acts after missing chances after chances is mindblowing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Mar 2014 18:45:31
Ah well there's still the fa cup, until next week anyway. See all them pundits got slagged off for being right in the end and we didn't want to see it. What a poor show from a plundering giroud, a legless arteta, a weak wiltshire, a lethargic podolski and a clueless gibbs. The rest of the team were just rubbish. can't wait for the transfer window to sort it all out, oh no I've been saying that for the last 9 years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Mar 2014 18:42:48
Ok we hoped for and expected 3pts today and not getting therm or even a draw is a massive blow.
Sometimes we are at our best when we are up against it and the odds are against us and let's face we need to be now.

12 points from Spurs Chelski Everton away and city at home and we are right in the thick of it again, anything less than 9 and its CL qualification and maybe the FA cup for us this season.

Its not time to throw the towel in yet on the title race but over the next 5 weeks it might be handy to keep an eye on where the towel is at all times.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You are deluded mate. keep telling yourself that - this is why wenger won't walk or be sacked because of people like you!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Best I stick around then supermac mate, let's face it this time last year we had no chance of 4th and being Top of the PL at Christmas was just a dream.
We are a work in progress that's actually going quite well just not as quickly as we would ALL like

Agree0 Disagree0

Supermac I haven't seen you on here before, g62 is a regular and clearly a dedicated fan. If there is one issue within arsenal it's the fans that moan at every opportunity. Like I said I haven't seen you on here before so I'm not suggesting your one of those people, however lay off the fans who get behind the team

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank you Saint mate
its easy to moan at every opportunity even to boo the team when they are just one point off the top and a world class player when they need us most, and then when the trophy's do arrive turn up to the victory parade with an Ozil shirt on.
We are all disappointed players manager and fans a like but do you judge your real fans like you do your friends, the best one will share the bad times as well as the good ones

Agree0 Disagree0

G62 oh come on, do you really think we will get 12pts. use your head not heart, we couldn't beat Man U, thrashed at L'pool and M City, couldn't score against Chelsea, Failed to beat Everton at home.

Please let's be sensible in a debate .
It is quite possible we draw all 4 games or even lose all 4 games by the odd goal, but we WILL not win all 4 games

Agree0 Disagree0

Banbury mate I didn't say we would win all four I said IF! It would be a brave man who would bet a weeks wages on us doing that, it would be an person that bet his life savings house and car against it.
After crashing out of the champions league last year did you think we would end the season so strong?
9 from the next four we have a chance less and its ta ta title.
12 and its hello here we go again, stranger things have happend

Agree0 Disagree0

SAINT ARSENAL

It is irrelevant how often someone posts on here, they are still entitled to their opinion, it doesn't mean support Arsenal any less.does it

01 Mar 2014 18:34:33
Well well well.

Once again our illustrious leader fails to out tactic Mark "Rugby Coach" Hughes! What does he do again for his 8 mil a year?

I am sick and tired of Wengers 1 dimensional tactics. Its the same every game, play not penetrative football and try to tire out the opposition then hope to break them down eventually. Everything has to go through Giroud, who took some rough treatment today but is basically only good against teams that don't crowd him out. All our midfield play off him and it works against team who don't close down the space between back 4 and midfield. We needed pace today so to see the Ox sat on the bench until the 75th minute was a joke, he came on and was a real threat, if Sanogo could shoot we would have earned a point.

All this said we are a better football team than was on display today and I personally feel that Wengers lack of versatility is killing us. He constantly makes the same changes, if I as a fan knows what he will do then I'm sure as hell positive other managers do.

We should be playing with pace and blowing teams away early, as we know we can.

Still not sure how Stoke finished with 11 on the park mind Charlie Adam is the worst footballer I have seen, add him and Hughes together its just atrocious.

I get that we are doing better than this time last year but I genuinely feel like we are still fighting the same battle, only this time, instead of looking up to who we need to catch we are looking over our shoulder at who could catch us! what's worse Liverpool are now above us!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Mar 2014 18:21:46
Well the collapse has started one game later than it has the previous years. I suppose that's progress.

-£120mil in bank
-only team in last season's top 4 to keep it's manager from last season

If mourinho was in charge we would be top

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We might be top but we wouldn't have 120million in the bank or a stadium all but paid for and after 2 year spending spree and 20+ million in wages later we wouldn't have Moriniho either.
We are The Arsenal not all at all cost Chelski or Real with a you cut my throat I'll cut yours relationship with manager and club

Well this is my first post for a while as I've been away at the Annual Transgender Conference in Thailand. I've come back feeling like a completely different person. With the help of the Confidence, Objective, Courage, Kindness course I took, or COCK for short.
I can now reach the note that Minnie Ripperton reached in the song, Loving you is easy because you're beautiful, without needing to be kicked in the gonads. I can kick them myself now, I just need to take them down from the mantle piece.

I was feeling really positive about the new me, but unfortunately my problem isn't having an Adams apple, or being a bird with abnormally big hands No, it's supporting the same old Arsenal.

I really didn't want my first post back to be a negative one, but it's going to be.
Be in no doubt ladies, gents and geezerbirds. We'll be, like every other bloody season, fighting for fourth spot yet again. I'm not going to make any major comments on Wenger. All I will say is I'm quite content in waiting until the end of the season before any contracts are signed. Let's see where we are, and if we still truely believe that we have a manager that has the ability to win major trophies.

I could go on, but I'm going to leave it there as I don't want to start a row so soon after a loss as post something I regret due to the Arsenal losing.

I'm going to cheer myself up by eating a box of quality street to myself, while watching Dirty Dancing and trying on my new size 10 high heels. "Nobody puts baby in the corner." Or Arteta in the midfield! Sorry couldn't resist.

Hello to the regulars and not so regulars.

Slip up before the gauntlet

Interesting approach

I'd have rather beaten stoke and then hit the gauntlet, but hey I'm not Arsene Wenger

Because points you may need, but Oxlade he will not play. Why you ask. well just because

Touché Arsene. It doesn't make sense to any of us, but hey, we aren't Arsene Wenger

Fans were amazing again. Sang their hearts out. Glad guys played half dead. Amazing when fans have more heart than players.

Again, touché Arsene.

You lot must be well stoked today, another great performance. You could win a trophy, that would be nice for you.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As opposed to your amazing record of winning trophies how will we ever catch up?

Agree0 Disagree0

But you're still 5th though?

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurski, like I sai to you the other day, the only time you ever post, that includes the Spurs site, is when Arsenal lose.

Are you really that sad?
Is the highlight of Spurs season seeing Arsenal lose?
You can't find any positives from your own team so you come on here and moan about Arsenal?

Look at your posts on Spurs site? all you ever do is slag off Spurs, so if you come on here and slag off Arsenal, do you think we are bothered?

You really are a sad little man my friend, and by the way, try looking at the league table.

Oh, sorry I forgot, you only look at the teams below you because you know you are nowhere near as good as the teams above you.

Agree0 Disagree0

You just wouldn't, would you? I mean if arsenal were 5th and spurs were 2nd you just wouldn't say anything :/

What a pathetic game that was, and it seriously damages our title chances, next we play Everton, Munich, Spurs, Chelsea, Man City. And that game was the final straw for me and Giroud.

Giroud is useless and I don't care what people say, he has heart yes he is a decent player yes, is he good enough to lead the line of a team chasing the title no, and anyone who thinks different just needs to look at his stats. He only scores at home, so is totally useless away from home, and only against weak opposition, against big teams he is anonymous. He has never dug us out of a hole even Bendtner has Cardiff this season as an example. He spends half his time waving his arms and pulling silly faces when he misses. He can't run with the ball, you can't play the ball to him quickly for him to run onto as he has no pace, he can't run at goal as he can't dribble, his whole game is back to goal flick it onto to somebody else, and the odd close range finish. Part of the reason Ozil hasn't played as well as he did at Real is because of Giroud at Real, Benzema and Higuain made runs for him dragging the defence and getting on the end of passes Giroud doesn't. I again am not denying his heart and love of the team but quality wise he isn't good enough, I used to be of the opinion that he would be good back up and over the summer add another striker now I just want him gone, use Sanogo and Podolski as cover and add a quality striker with a range of talents and a big game mentality.

I still don't understand why Wenger didn't sign a striker in the summer let alone January, and why today Chamberlain came on so late. My hopes are resting on the FA Cup, not given up on the league but looks so hard to win it now, and Bayern second leg, I can't see us winning that even if we managed it last year.

poor result, poor game, poor performance, poor ref.
how the ref let the tackles by Charlie adam by is astonishing, both were red card challenges at the minimum.
and then the glen Whelan tackle, since when was getting kicked in the shin a foul?
the penalty bit harsh but definitely giveable so not too fussed about that.
the performance from the team was woeful, almost as bad as Man United on tues and we wernt too far off being that bad.
everyone always says podolski should start, but everytime he does, he don't seem to do much. I think he is much much more effective coming off the bench.
cazorla played through the middle today with wilsere and arteta behind him, so why did he keep dropping deep to pick up the ball and leave giroud isolated?
defence was bit shaky at times, but still done decent.
we lost the game where we don't usually lose it, in midfield.
ox needs to start against everton.

well title race seems to be fading for us, specially if we play the way we did today. there was no will and spirit in the team to win the game, none at all. if we keeping playing with this type of attitude I think even liverpool will beat us on the points table. when is ramsey coming back? because this side seems low on spirit and the will to win without ramsey and flamini. i'm sorry to say this but i'm getting sick of Giroud not taking runs, sticking his A**s to the defender marking him and passing back the ball to the person who passed the ball to him in the first place. he needs to be lively on the pitch. maybe our best chance is FA cup this season. I know that was all very very pessimist but I tried to say the truth!

Simply not good enough to win the league these are the games you MUST! Win will be battling for 4th once more can't see saints getting anything against Liverpool

I rate Kos but he gives away to many penaltys think that's 4 this season costing us to many points . Massive games coming up we have to win now no more mistakes .

Come on you saints do us a favour!

Stoke's playing alright. I'll give them that. However, we're shooting ourselves in the foot with casual, indecisive passing. Really think Flamini should be playing instead of Arteta. Flamini has the ability to rise the morale of the team with one-crunching tackle. Against a team like Stoke, I think it's a valuable asset to have on the team.

First half ended. What a boring game so far. Some of our passing has been Sunday League. I'm waiting for the Ref to change into a Stoke kit for the second half and a thick pair if glasses.

So I have noticed that every player with potential no longer cost the maximum 15 mill it was a few years back, rather world record fees.

Heres the line up today!

Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Arteta, Wilshere, Rosicky, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud.

Gibbs is back which is HUGE! Hope he doesn't get injured again. We need him for bigger games ahead!

Poldi starts again and I fancy him getting on the scoresheet.

Stunned Flamini isn't playing alongside Wilshere? This is a game tailor made for him to roll up his sleeves, bark orders and be a "captain".

Clearly Wenger knows best!

Ozil back and on the bench!

Be interested to know what people think of the effect on the defence that steve bould has had over the last two years on individuals and on the defence as a unit

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the record speaks for itself Saint. We conceded the 2nd fewest goals in the league last year and our lowest amount in 5 years (37) - 12 less than the year before. If we concede on average 1 goal a game for the rest of the season (and I think we will actually do better than that), then we will concede a similar number.

People forget that we are traditionally a strong team defensively. Even throughout our very successful period under Wenger (1997-2005), our defensive record was generally very good. We wouldn't have gained our greatest achievement (the invincibles season) without our solid backline. It was still pretty good from then until 2009 - we never conceded more than 37 in a season. I think the attacking style of play took the focus off that, and then we definitely started to slip up in the last couple of years.

It's not just Bould - I think Wenger has changed a bit too. He seems less naive defensively than a couple of years back. And not to forget the signings of Koscielny and Mertesacker. But yeah Bould deserves a lot of credit for restoring the defensive stability we used to have. Hard to say what effect he's had on individuals but I think the defence as a unit is much more organised and communicative. No matter who the captain is, Per is the defensive leader who keeps everyone in the right mindset. The most impressive thing for me is how they've used Kosc and Mert's abilities to balance each other out. It reminds me a bit of the old partnership: Adams, who was very athletic, and Bould himself, who was both aggressive and disciplined.

A bit worried about Ozil today as if he plays well it will Be a case of " so he should its only stoke " and if he doesn't obviously dictate the game the snipers will be out in full voice.

I'd have brought him back for the Everton or Bayern game myself where the focus will be More on the teams than the man.

He is a class player so hopefully I'm just being to protective towarsds him and Arsene will once again prove he knows better than me about how to handle his players

G62, I think it's a good game for him to show he won't be bullied.
A stat I read on Ozil.

Mesut Ozil has created more chances for team-mates (73) than any other player in the top five European leagues this season.

I think it's our finishing we need to work on.

MgM those stats don't surprise me at all mate, he has had a better start than people appreciate, but that's the problem he does so much that goes unnoticed by many.

Today is MASSIVE! Let's not forget that Stoke have beaten Chelsea and taken four points from Man City and Man Utd.

This has never been an easy place to travel to but if we want to be champions then a massive three points is essential today. Especially ahead of a huge round of upcoming fixtures.

I have faith in us and feel we'l prevail 2-1.

Also feel Chelsea and Fulham will be a draw so a win against stoke sees us rise up to the top of the table with only 10games remaining!

"I love Arsenal, I love playing for Arsenal, I love my team, " he is quoted as saying by the Mirror. "Arsenal are the most followed team in France and I remember I used to watch them when I was in France so it was a pleasure to play for them, so why leave?

"It's great here. It was like a dream when I joined the club because I used to follow Arsenal when I was in France and then I had the opportunity to join them and it's a pleasure to play for the team."

Patiently waiting for the kick off and having my vocabulary enriched by the world's sweariest dictionary viz Roger's Profanisaurus. Have learnt new words and phrases like:

Bolitics:
The practice of talking utter b******* about politics. Often performed by drunks in pubs, students and George W. Bush e.g. The pub was full of students talking bolitics

Banker:
A lady, spotted upon entry into the night club, who one thinks will be an absolute certainty should all other attempts to pull fail

Couple of things. Arsenal to win today 3-0

Wenger. why the media perception of him dragging his heels? A few red top comics are covering the story, any truth to this worrying rumour?

To all the Wenger haters, or even those who are a bit puzzled sometimes by him ( me included ), look around. what else is there?

Glad Shaw made an England squad

Enjoy it while it lasts

If Gibbo isn't starting in Brazil, then English football is a joke and playing time is based off a popularity contest

He's hurt now so obv not on the squad, but if they're bright, they pick the kid who has been on a UEFA team of the month this year.

Shezza red card didn't lose us leg 1, Gibbo's injury did

This season, healthy, he's the best left back in the world. Even over Alaba.

Real talk

We were dominating Bayern w Gibbs. Not outplaying. Dominating

But my God. The kid will never play an entire season. I don't think he will ever have a season where he doesn't miss at least 10 matches.

It's too bad. He is world class. Not good. But world class.

I will say this. Although not as good, Nacho was thrust in to an impossible job. Had he started the Bayern match, by min 30 I think he could have settled

Once again, unluckiest team in the world.

Until leg 2

Coyfg!

Absolutely agree mate, well said!

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you secretly Kieran Gibbs?

Agree0 Disagree0

+1 here. His defending has become top class, good positions and understanding to compliment his speed and recovery skills and he knits the attacking play together up the left. Without him, we are completely unbalanced on that side of the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree witth everyone about Kierans ability - but having, frustratingly, watched so many world cups where England were really poor and all the poorer for taking with them so many players whose fitness was marginal or who were inclined to injurs too easily - I think the player should go only if he can see out the season without any more spells on the treatment table.
