Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

01 Sep 2013 23:48:51
Arsenal don't need a £42.5m attacking midfielder. We badly need a strong defensive midfielder, a centre back a left back, a right back and a striker. Attacking midfield is about the only position we still have cover for at the moment.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Missing out on Sakho could be a mistake as was missing on Wanyama IMO those two wold have covered 4-5 positions and given us good options.
If the Ozil rumours are true I'd be happy with that but not sure on the price tag and think I would prefer Di Maria tbh or please Mata.
But you are right I think Defensive players is where we should be concentrating on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but still. Its Ozil. Man's peerless

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont tell me you just said we need a left back, do you support arsenal? Gibbs, Monreal both play left back, vermealen can cover the LB position and also sagna can play there if needed as well, so please when you come out with saying we need players one position we don't need a player in is LB.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think defensively we`ve been ok, I`ve previously been very critical of Ramsey and the need for a tough holding player, but I`m not so sure now.

Spurs have filled their midfield with tall, strong physical players today - Sandro, Capoue, Dembele, Paulinho, Chadii. They have zero mobility and creativity (yes I know Chadii is a winger but he was a bad as the others). Against a team who play the game on the ground, they leave out Holtby and Siggurdson, the only creative midfielders they have. I`d love another Vieira but I have a feeling Wenger is happy with what we have atm.

We don't need full backs (thats laughable tbh) and we probably don't even need another striker, Ozil is world class and will enable us to push Podolski up front, a better option than Benzama and keeping Lukas on the flanks imo.

@wengerism - I can promise you, I have never wanted our team to fail, and I stuck by Wenger even after RVP to United. This transfer window has been a disaster, but as I say, I want to fight for the title, and you can't do that with two strikers, most top teams have four.

You can't win the EPL with 17 players, 3 or 4 of which have injuries constantly.

3 transfers of 'super quality', and we can all support for the season.

The reality is, we do have the bones of a very good team. But we need a great team.

Looking forward to tomorrow

Your spot on, it's not the man it's the numbers

Wengerism can you not enjoy the win like everyone else without jumping on here and acting smug like you have proved something.Winning a couple of games does not make you right, we all know we can match anyone on our day it's the depth that people are on about. Even Wenger admits this is a problem let's hope he sorts it tomorrow.

You also seem a bit paranoid show me a fan on here that seriously wants Arsenal to lose just to stick it to Wenger. You won't be able to.We all want the best for the club it's just different people have varying opinions on how to achieve this.

If you stopped insulting those who don't share your unwavering faith Wenger and stopped suggesting they are not real fans you would probably avoid a lot of abuse that comes your way.

Lastly all these comments about having an orgasm every time someone compliments Wenger are a little worrying, you may be just a little to obsessed.

Telegraph reporting we are bidding £80m for ozil, di Maria and Abel Hernandez. If we get them along with Viviano I would view it as a good summer overall

Ozil quality player but do we need him? Not really we need a cb, rw, cf don't get me wrong ozil is quality but rather we get players we need edd any chance in signing a cb?

It amazes me that Madrid would buy bale for€100mil and sell ozil for €50mil, there's no way he's twice the player ozil is. ozil is THE signing of the season!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't worry, Madrid will make the difference in merchandise by the end of the season.

Only hours after the announcement of Bale at Madrid and David Ornstein is already reporting in twitter that we are in advanced talks over the signing of Ozil, well that didn't take Wenger long did it?

tvNews twitter reports that Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Mesut Ozil, oher sources staing that we've offered £7 million a year to United's £5 million.

If this is true it may be the last thing my heart will take. Nice surprise Wenger eh?!

01 Sep 2013 21:46:31
Just read Arsenal are to spend 65 mil on Ozil, Cabaye, Guilavogui?
That's too many midfielders in the team. If this happens it only means Rosisky, arteta, flamini, diaby will leave next season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Although that would not of been my choice of players at the start of the window (although you could just pass over the chance to sign someone like Ozil) I'm willing to trust the boss if he brings them players in.

What that will actually mean is we have strong competition in midfield, cover for inevitable injuries and suspensions and we can rotate and keep people fresh when needed. Top players will welcome competition and want to earn their place. As much as I think Diaby is a great player his constant injuries mean the days if not buying midfielders as we have Diaby are long gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

No way in hell Rosicky will leave, he is a genius!

I'm having a threesome with Jim White and Natalie Sawyer tomorrow.
Got the popcorn in. Come 11 o'clock the ending will either be like Titanic or The Shawshank Redemption.

SPOILER ALERT!
One sinks the other escapes.

I had to laugh today. In the post match interview on sky. Arsene said he'll be working until 12. Then corrected himself and said 11 with a wry smile on his face. I swear he does it on purpose :-)

A lot of people have been questioning where ozil would play. I take it he'd play cam and santi would be played on the wing. don't forget, ozil can also play on the wing.

Guilavogui has chosen A.Madrid. They offered more cash. Can't see a DM being signed now. Especially after how well Flamini played when he came on.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wenger used decoys this window. He was not going to sign Guilavogui. If he was, he would have sold Coquelin rather than loan out.

Anti arsenal reporting I guess

Anyway - bring on the signings. It's like Xmas eve and Dad has said I might get a decent present or two tomorrow

Superb team effort today, what a result. The ground was bouncing at the end. We had to dig in and counter attack but if we perform like that this season am more hopeful. FLAMINI for captain for me, he stuck to the task of protecting the defence but you could see him constantly talking and shouting at the team. Something that's been missing. For me Ramsey was MOTM again.

Well 24hrs to go just take deep breathes.

Can someone explain to me where Ozil would play if he signed? Is he capable of playing on the wing or would him joining see santi play on the wing for us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is pretty much a slightly better version of d.silva IMO and can easily play either wing aswell as through the middle.
His pace is also very underrated

Agree0 Disagree0

You will see him and Cazorla rotate on the left wing and the central attacking role. Podolski will be our back up Striker/left winger.

Don't really care where he plays as long as we have him in the team. This guy can play on either wings and centrally. Our long term Rosisky replacement?

Agree0 Disagree0

Behind Suarez next to Di Maria and infront of Khadeira

Agree0 Disagree0

Behind the striker.

With Carzola on the left and Walcott on he right.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jackgooner, ozil is sheer class, an absolute talent. you could build a team around this guy. he can play out wide, which is his prefered role but he drifts inside a lot and has killer feet. his range of passing is fantastic, almost zidane like but not quite. he can play central too. he's still only 24 so he can adapt. the mans a magician and would look great gracing the emirates with santi

Agree0 Disagree0

He is class, but imagine a formation with theo up top and ozil and cazorla feeding him through balls to chase.

Not realistic but it could offer something different!

Man United fan here in peace. Its all over our pages that you have got Ozil, is this bullsh"t or is there any substance to it. Really hope not as our need is far greater than yours( especially after today).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi Middleton, certainly a lot of chat about Ozil coming our way. We have the bonus of having 2 Germans in the squad already

good result today.

I can't knock any of the team for sheer tenacity and fighting spirit. they wanted that win you could tell from the start they were up for it.
today showed us that we have the nucleus of a very good team, but believe me you in the weeks to come we will need as many fit players rotating as possible to compete in all competitions.
tomorrow is vital that we buy quality players, we are looking solid but lack the next level where we begin to look like title contenders, I really hope wenger doesn't get caught up in all the hoopla of this good performance and buys no one. if we can get 3 or 4 players in we will mean business this season.
today we played like players fighting for their careers, why don't they do it every week, if you can pick yourselves up for spurs why not the rest of them. come on boys give it your all every game and I promise the fans will love you for it, sang our hearts out today.

ratings
szecs - what a save, looked composed but still needs to learn from an old hand.
jenko - played with fight but still gives me the sweats when he tries too much, lost possession in wrong areas today. chadli had his number earlier on
gibbs - was solid and stuck to his task, kept townsend quiet
merti and kosci - play well together and both were solid didn't give soldado a sniff.
rosicky - got stuck in and led by example, a bit hurried earlier on but came into the game.
cazorla - easily his best game this season, made us tick.
wilshere - looked up for it, passed well and tracked back, unlucky with illness had to come off
ramsey - guy gets better, got stuck in with capoue dembele and paulinho, put himself about didn't shy away from tackles from the powerful opposition.
Walcott - good assist and looked dangerous, is becoming a main player gives us goals and assists
giroud - MOM won every header, chased defenders, fought for the team and took his goal with quality. if he can keep up this form we will do good, could do with a foil for his head ons.

subs
flamini - steadied the team, barked orders, put in tackles and looked like he never left, if he stays fit could help us big time.
monreal - kept it simple
sagna - came on late for Walcott

well done lads, fair play to the lads for putting in a performance.

Well that was just the ticket. Couldn't help wonder just how good Aaron Ramsey would be if he'd never had the injury. Still reckon there's a bit more to come from him and he will be very unlucky not to start if we do buy anyone tomorrow. Also thought mertesacker and koscielny looked very solid and chez did well. Flamini looked a 10 mil player just for his vocals and organisation - all in all great to stuff the spuds.
Most people around me confident we'll buy 3 or 4 tomorrow and not a hint of spendsomefeffing money.

It's a little bit weird at the moment, all the Wenger haters are all out there voicing their vitriol when there's no games.
As soon as the games are done, look at the page, completely different posters.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'll be so glad Wengerism when after tomorrow I don't have to read your self congratualtory trolling.

It's like having Iago from Othello on the forum.

Really pleased to see us play today, and defend well against to be fair, a decent spurs side.

Our bench is still empty, we need 3 players and i'd still like a keeper, but if the Ozil news is true I'd take him and an out and out striker like torres - anyone but Kalou.

Agree0 Disagree0

I still feel the same about Wenger, signings should have been made .

We have conducted our business in a poor way this transfer window

Agree0 Disagree0

AW has 24 hours to show that he is the right man.

Agree0 Disagree0

I still don't think today's win means Wenger is the man for the job it's one day. But I want him to prove me wrong the team are playing well for him. But we still need additions this game changes nothing. We have the judge the manager on this summer as well. I am not taking away anything from the victory, just that most people should stick with their views not let one game change.

Trust me I have wanted Wenger out for ages. I'd be the first to admit I would rather him prove me wrong and adapt, then get someone new. I want to be on your side come the end of the season. I just don't see to much progression our silverware to support him so staunchly as you do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just watched AW's interview, he was grinning ear to ear:)

Agree0 Disagree0

There are not many wenger haters on this site. i, like many on here, have slagged wenger for his transfer policies and his reluctance to keep up with the tide, eg strenghten the squad, identify our weaknesses and remedy the situation and turn us back into the team we use to be. I have said on many occasions, what gets my goat is the fact we have a very unclear transfer policy and until the day comes when things are made clear about who does our transfer dealings, I will continue to express my opinions, I will continue to express my frustrations about wenger and THE BOARD.
but the most important thing is I WILL CONTINUE TO EXPRESS MY LOVE AND UNDYING SUPPORT to the club I have followed for over 40 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

God, Brighton Rock and Othello references. Thought I would never have to be reminded about Higher English. :/

Agree0 Disagree0

Never ever hated Wenger, just want the best for my team, sources tonight look very interesting, really think no one really wanted him out, just very angry with what had been going on st our club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Baggins, and we will get those signings. Difference between me and you is the word patience.
I'm not calling you out, but sometimes it just feels like some so called supporters want the team to fail, just to give it to the manager.
And I think that's unhealthy. You could even tell with Sky and the media. They would have loved it if we lost today.
Makes their job do much easier.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not anti Arsene and neither am I in sanely in love with him to the extent where I'm unable to see his faults. Just try to give credit where and when its due and say also where I think he's wrong. Its called my opinion and surely what this page is all about

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody wants the team to lose but it is clear that the team needs depth and strengthening in certain positions. most people (myself included) feel that this should have been done at the start of the window to let them integrate into the team before the season started. your blind faith in wenger is a bit creepy wengerism as NO manager is above criticism or is bigger than the club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree, Ozil is class but where does he fit in, our midfield is excellent

Agree0 Disagree0

Does it really matter? It's Ozil. Who wouldn't want Ozil?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozil is one of the best players in the world. Closest thing to Zidane I've seen. There's space in the team for him

Agree0 Disagree0

IF he signs (big IF) I think Wenger will alternate him and Santi between LW and AMF until he gets the right balance

i thought flamini was excellent today, its plain to see. imo. that's exactly what we are missing. someone willing to get a bruised shin for the team,, he's not the quickest now and never was,, but boy does he get about and get stuck in,, sometimes he's a bit rash, but I like it, 2 feet or not, once we add a few signings to the team and having him and arteta. who I think is technically better on the ball, but having been played in the cdm role, isn't quite as good as flamini, i'm shocked tbh that he wasnt wanted by any other team, it should allow arteta and jack to lead a free role in midfiled and not have to worry about defensive duties as much, giroud was outstanding once again. and I think he loves being ''the main man''. leave him there I say if he keeps finding the net all be it 1 a game. add a few now wenger and let's keep this conga going! (i think I've gone nuts) keep up the good work eds. can't wait for tomorow!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wolvo gooner, mate problem is he isn't costing us £20m. And signed from Real Madrid.
It just shows how confident Wenger is in his own ability and he can completely switch himself from the media nonsense. And some of the inpatient crap the fans are giving him.

Please don't get me wrong a blinding result and all thanks to the defence.

I strongly feel, though, both teams were average or a bit above. Arsenal, with the squad we have, will not get into the top 4 and that my friends is the issue. We need to be aiming to win the league. We have seen the Mancs falter today, City look alright as do Chelsea but I think they are there for the taking.

Trouble is we have a ridiculous transfer policy with a socialist manager not prepared to keep up with football economics.

I expect to be shot down by eejits like wengerism but having spent the last 47 years watching our great club, one win does not solve our problem.

Last day of the window and no matter who we get in, we should not be in this situation. It's an embarrassment to true supporters.

Soldado - £26m
Lamella - £30m

The look of despair on the spurs face - Priceless.

Seriously though, really pleased with our performance. Koscielny was immense at the back. Cazorla and Ramsey ran the show in midfield. Giroud was a constant threat, he is developing into a truely class forward. Well done Mr Wenger. £12m BARGAIN! Flamini still has it, great fight and spirit with defensive discipline.

Now Mr Arsene Wenger, can you please crack on in the transfer window. Gnabry, Sanogo, Zealem, Frimpong on our bench really shouldn't happen. Need atleast 1 forward (LW/ST) and another player to cover at the back. Possibly another CM but I guess when Arteta and Diaby are back we will have more than enough players there.

With all the rumours floating around, I asked a friend, about Mesut Ozil.
This isn't a "ITK" friend or a "source" or a man who works as Wengers personal shoe shiner, just a guy who occasionally hears some stuff, it's a little friend of a friend, but usually near the mark.

Basically, tomorrow, at some point during the day, Mesut Ozil will be announced as either an Arsenal or Utd player.

The player doesn't want to leave Madrid, but with bale confirmed, and Isco in stellar form already, his preferred position of AMC (sorry for using FM positions!) is gone to the young Spaniard, and his back up of LW will go to Bale.

Ozil will be told by the Spanish club, very frankly he's considered surplus, and if he stays, his playing time will be very limited.
There's a small chance he'll understand and take that risk, but it's understood he will move.
England is his preferred destination, and the player has already told the club to forget PSG after the French team made an enquiry.

It's thought that the Arsenal hierarchy are confident of this deal (I know, heard it before) for around £40m.

With a World Cup next year and Draxler, Reus, Gotze, Muller, Kroos, Podolski and Schurrle all competing with him for places in the midfield for Germany, he knows he can't afford to be a bench warmer.

Arsenals advantage over Utd is that they can guarantee Ozil playing time, he has two German seniors at the club to help him settle, Wenger was highly interested in him whilst he was at Bremen, and Wenger is essentially prepared to throw down £150k + a week for the player.

Wenger is also hoping to get Di Maria, but there's a small whisper that he's not keen on the idea of English football.

Benzema is a no go.
Madrid are trying to get the fans exited by Spanish talent at the club, Re-Signing Carjaval, buying Isco and Ilarramendo, and promoting Morata and Jese to the first team, but they know they need an experienced striker to lead the line for the time being.

There's also talk We were interested in Kaka, but his wages of £200k + a week, combined with his age put us off.

Aside from an Indiana Jones raid on Madrid, we're looking at Draxler, Williams, Alderwiereld, Viviano and a host of others.
If all goes to plan, tomorrow will be a hectic day for us.

(Don't take anything I post as 100% gospel guarantee, etc, etc. things change, info is wrong, people make mistakes, I genuinely feel bad when I post something that's wrong, or off, as if I post anything I hear, it's because I find it believable, so it proving false let's me down too!)

Aside from transfers, today was a Beaut wasn't it?!

Ramsey looks top notch (sorry for doubting you Rambo!)
Sagna came on, with an illness and made some vital clearances, Kos and Merts looked great, Giroud is the boy, and well, Flamini was superb!

Hope alls well fellow Gunners!

A bit of a question really- I see all the posts that criticise our 'buying squad' and the manager and the Chief exec and the owner (well 65 % ish owner). Also I see spurs able to go out and buy all these ' world class (?)' players easily and quickly - and supposedly in some cases the players turned down Arsenal in favour of Spuds.
The thing that I question is these players. why do they choose to go to a club who haven't won the top league title in their fathers lifetime.

Are these the sort of players we are looking for - lacking ambition or lacking the belief, looking for a nice easy ride with lotsa money?
With no Champions league so they can't judge themselves with the best in the world.
I do find it hard to believe that AFC don't offer a better all round package for truly gifted players

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You have to look at it at the level of players that we would need to improve the team compared to what level of players Spurs can attract to improve them.

You look at Chadli, Soldado Capoue and Paulinho today I see nothing in them to suggest they would be good enough to improve our first 11 team if we had gone for them instead. Yes they would add numbers but would not improve overall quality over what we have

Soldado may be a good poacher when he gets a chance at close quaters but he did not get a sniff today and did not do much movement off the ball or effect the game to anywhere near the same way Giroud did for us.

Yes I now you can't judge players too harshly on one game but to me none of the players Spurs have purchased are any better than what we have in those positions really. Erikson is a quality player but that AM area is a area we are already strong anyway with Cazorla and Wilshire there.

Our problem is that we are in a catch 22 were in order to attract the top players that would actually improve us we and be willing to join us we need to start winning. We are struggling to win the top prizes though without those top level players. At the moment the top players Like Saurez, Ozil etc. that would take us to the next level are just not attracted to playing for us.

Great team performance defended as a team. What really annoys me is pundits who talk before they know what their talking about (cough cough Graeme souness) his comments about ramsey sounded very uneducated about Rambos situation. He said he is an attacking midfielder he's not he said he should be in double figures every year considering he's just getting over a horrific injury how he's going to score that many when he's confidence is low. Also the sly sports team are talking like he's just found this form he was playing like this most of the second half of last season. Seems like everyone doesn't wanna give our players credit!

Now I've got that off my chest wenger go buy some quality players and we should be sorted!

Good win. Tottenham didn't look that great. We looked solid. Thought Flamini did well when he came on, which is reassuring. Now Wenger support the players add some depth and quality and this team will do well. Despite that win if we don't sign anyone I still think we will struggle with numbers and injuries. Last 24 hours or so wrap up some deals would be a perfect start to the week. What a finish from Giroud. Thought the pundits were harsh on Ramsey thought he was great today again. Wenger looked pretty confident about signings in his interview, prove me wrong, show us you've still got it. If he signs no-one after the effort his team have put in and a team who have called for signings, I will be dissapointed we've done well to get back on our feet after the Villa game, let's give the fans something to shout about bring in some players.

1-0 to the Arsenal. Good performance especially in 1st half, came under pressure late on but held firm. Restricted Spurs in the main to long shots, Soldado kept very quiet.

Ramsey and Cazorla played well, Flamini battled hard when he came on, controlled midfield. Giroud making good runs but still lacking support on occasions.

Their main danger was Townsend out wide. Lloris was lucky to stay on the pitch with that challenge on Walcott when he was clean through he may have got a slight touch on the ball but he got much more of Walcott.

Still need players but today is good today and knocked Spurs down a peg or two.

I'm not expecting him to leave Chelsea.
I certainly can't see him being sold to us as a rival.
I can't see Wenger stumping up the fee needed to sign him.
Mata told the media via tv that he is settled at Chelski and doesn't want to leave and Mourinho never goes back on his word.
Signings will be Viviano on loan, possibly Guilavogui, Cabayr and a young full back cover. Maybe also a striker like Torres.

Why is it that arsenal and wenger refuse to pay modern day player prices and wages but they don't think TWICE about charging us modern day ticket prices and then some, we get raped the most in Europe but when it comes to us as fans to push the team to the next level and spend it's pure corruption that comes out there mouth. "players cost far to much", "can't pay them those ridiculous wages", "we want to improve when your clearly not doing anything. So he is full of rubbish, he again has been to nieve to buy players, to scared to bring in better players to steal are players spots, prob because there all ready on the brink of leaving and it would send them packing, if he don't spend which I think he won't he should consider his future.

01 Sep 2013 12:20:15
Just being honest here but I think we have no chance with Juan Mata. He had a long season last year and a confederation cup call up which meant his season started late. People noted the half he played against Aston Villa he didn't look fit and Mourinho realised this. When Arsene claimed he thought Mata was on the market, Mourinho instantly denied this and told the media how important Mata is to Chelski. Mourinho is such an ego I can't see him going back on his words. Secondly tv confirmed the other day Mata was settled at Chelski and ready to fight to regain his place and had no interest in leaving. AVB also said he had interest in Mata and I suspect he approached Chelski and was told in no uncertain terms he is not for sale just as he told the media. Arsene even admitted clubs in England don't like selling to eachother especially rivals. I think it is more a wishful dream than anything likely to happen. Abramovich is also a Mata fan so I can't see him wanting to see him sold. Also Chelski would want a bid of at least £30-35 million for him as they certainly won't sell him for a loss considering his quality, I believe the stats are something like 92 goals/assists in 119 games? And as bad as it sounds, why would Mata want to come us? We have Spanish teammates but so do Chelski. We have CL football but so do Chelski and they have a much better chance of progression from the group stages looking at the groups as bad as it is to admit it. We wouldn't be able to offer a better contract and also I can't see why he would leave Chelski to us as they are going to compete on all fronts this season and with our current squad I can't see us doing that in all brutal honesty. Also we need to look at who he would displace right now in the team. Cazorla is obviously not going to be displaced and Mata cannot play CDM so that rules out Flamini or anyone else who plays there. Ramsey and Wilshere are both playing well and I can't see them being displaced. Rosicky and Walcott also appear to be in favour right now. So where would Mata fit in for first team football? I can't really see. So that is a no-go I think. let's be realistic, at best we will sign Cabaye, Guilovigiu (the Etienne DM), a cheap winger and back up CF. And I doubt 2/4 of those transfers will happen.
Not being negative, just being honest now. We have had an awful window.

Wow it has certainly been heated on here recently. For my part I recently sent in a reply that had in it a personal insult towards Wengerism which in hindsight I am glad the eds did not post as that's not the way I usually go about things. I just want him to sensibly state his case for Wenger without resorting to insulting people that don't agree or blindly stating he is perfect and I will try to do so.

I have always wanted Wenger to turn things and eventually go out on a high for all he has done for the club. He is still a great coach and does wonders with what he has but he should have a stronger squad to work with. Unfortunately he shows incompetence and a complete lack of understanding in the transfer market and this is where he needs help. Wenger can still spot a WC player and should still input his targets but that's where his part should end. At this point a Dein type should take over and get the player in they should decide what we are going to pay based on the market not our outdated valuations. If Wenger had the chance to work with the players that have got away over the last couple of years I have no doubt the trophy drought would have ended.

Dein and Wenger were the dream ticket and I can only dream of what them 2 would of achieved if we still had Dein complimenting Wenger's coaching ability.

Anyway main point of business today send the spurs away with their tail between their legs. I know every Arsenal fan will be up for it and supporting the team today.

Well it won't be a quite one and the pressure will be like never before for him, a fantastic win today and at the final whistle the pressure is on, all day tomorrow it increases. If he buys or not the season will be full of if only he had bought earlier, bigger or better if we finish 2nd what if? If we finish 5? You must love it Arsene because its all self inflicted and the way you are remembered is all down to this season and YOUR decisions. Good luck I truly hope you are proved right and you will be back to the status you once held by not just my self but English football as a true master of the game but if all doesn't end well you be someone who was truely brilliant but slipped into self delusion

Today is probably the biggest game for our club in years. At home against the people on the back of possibly the most frustrating transfer window of the AW era (coupled with the vast strengthening of Tottenham). Today's result will most probably shape the pre January state of our league campaign, so negativity should be left out for today. I know that anything less than a win will prompt more miserable posts calling for a revolution at our club. But seriously we have a perfect opportunity here to truly shut the spurs up for at least a few months. If we play to our true potential and teach them the value of a team built up over a few years, and not one that has just had money thrown at it left right and centre, I will be one happy man.

I've just turned 30, I managed to sell my road bike which has been a burden for the last six months and bought a better one for half the selling price, and I'm due to be a Dad for the first time on Tuesday. All I need to top it all off is a victory at home against the turds.

Lets scream for the boys today whether you're at the game, watching on tv, listening on radio or even checking the scores on your phone.

COME ON YOU GUNNERS. let's keep up our recent drubbing of the spurs at home. A hat-trick of 5-2 results would be handsome.

In Wenger we trust.

wengererism. your the one with little football knowledge Wenger does have some good points but your blind to the facts

Squad is paper thin
Has never sorted out the problem keeper position
No plan b or c in matches
full backs can't cross
lack of bodies running into the kill zone in the penalty box
giving average players too much money and good players not enough
selling van persie to man utd
wont address in the clear areas where team needs improving like no defensive midfielder
Playing players out of position,
not playing/dropping in form players
really think its was a good idea playing such a full strength team when the fenabache game was already won and with such a small squad
too many players getting injured or the amount of time it takes players to come back from straightforward injuries
Zonal marking

lets hear your excuses

Today is a big game to see where we are at as a club.

Tottenham have bought well strengthened their squad, however, I feel their middle of midfield is similar to that of man city very defensive with deep sitting players. (Paulinho is the one we need to watch as if we give him space he likes to shoot) If santi can boss the middle therein lies the chance to get a result.

Regardless of the result wenger needs to buy and add to the squad.

De Maria is the one I want most of the marque signings.

Benzemma no thanks so over rated.

My predictions for today is 1-1 with giroud to score.

A huge 36 hours ahead let's try to enjoy fellow gooners.

Apparently heard that arsenal is for sneider again.? Last time his wages were to high but seems he maybe willing to lower them to make it to the works cup.
Maybe just one of the many big name players we will NOT sign but just putting it out there. What d you make if it Eds?

Just out the shower, redcurrant 10 Bergkamp shirt on, about to go out the door to start the 5 hour journey to the ems. Take in a couple at the gunners before the game and then time to load the cannon and go chicken hunting.

Every game I pray for a win to make the 5 hour trip home pass more easily. Today though I will be praying way harder.

From this moment until I walk back into my Stourbridge home I don't care about the transfer window or anything apart from winning. I will be shouting my head off and won't be talking properly tomorrow because I am a member of a gooner family

Ok we may be torn apart by AKB and wenger out factions etc but for today let's forget that stuff and all pull together. Let's show the world how special our family is and that no matter what we are and always will be THE Arsenal

Cmon you gooners!!

Fans will always support their team, I love Arsenal and always will, I caught the end of the Berti Mee era and followed the boys ever since .

But we are aloud to voice a negative opinion and in my opinion I have never experienced anything like this, in years gone past we would have never looked so silly because it would have been kept in the boardroom, but this Summer we have announced we can compete financially with everyone and with just a day to go we have 2 signing, 1 an injury prone French 2nd division player and an ex player coming back after he stabbed us in the back.BOTH COST £0. I have never seen us linked with so many players before, it is as though we have gone through the alphabet until we find someone, I also have never seen us offer low bids on so many occasions 'our' valuations are so far away it is as though we are having NO intention of buying a player but at the end we can say " we tried".

Don't bury your heads in the sand, something just isn't quite right at the club

morning eds,

would there happen to be any knowledge (even some educated speculation really) that you'd be willing to share regarding transfers?

while i'd be keen to know what's going on with mata/draxler, if there's even anything going on, i'd be particularly interested in anything you'd be able to share regarding the positions that are hoping to be bolstered.

We were told it was to compete on the big stage.rubbish that never happened.
Buy the best players. ha where are they then?
We were competitive at Highbury and we really are not at ashburton grove.
So I ask again, what was the point?

I have just come across this site the other week and have been an Arsenal supporter and season ticket holder for many years. Thought I would put my views in the mix too. Was watching Pardews post match interview after the Fulham game where he said that he sort of agreed with the fans as to their reactions towards Cabaye!I thought it was a bit out of order IF the player was staying but to come out with what he said suggested that Cabaye could! be leaving. Who too I don't know .But if I were Cabaye I would not have been impressed with Pardews comments. I think that some of Wengers latest comments have been ridiculous, too many to mention now but this is a desperate man. Everyone wants to go out on a high I know but can we afford to wait and see if he can reach his high? I don't believe we can take it much further but the only problem would be replacements for him! Klopp? . When I have read on here stupid comments that Wenger is not to blame! let me put things right here. In Wengers OWN words he has the last say on who they go after and what he thinks the deal is worth. He repeated this only the other day in an interview . He repeatedly has said about lack of quality players . Well we all know that this is a nonsense just look around at other clubs that have managed to sign players, players that by rights should have been wearing Arsenal shirts this season. I hope I have not upset anyone with my first post. I appreciate your replies.

Why not sign Ben Arfa?
Great winger who always beats a man and has an eye for goal.
Exactly what we need IMO.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or we could sign Di Maria, or Draxler, or Turan or Mata. Menez even? There are many better players than Ben Arfa.

Not exactly world class but better than nothing, certainly a better option to Cabaye.

Still think we need 3 more players. Draxler would be perfect, as he can play lw where we need a player the most imo. A goalkeeper, begovic would be ideal. Then a cdm, not sure who tbh but we definitely need another defensive player in.

"Certain things are becoming inevitable in transfer windows with Arsenal. 1. Despite great promise they will more often than not result in massive disappointment. 2. Hello Colombus,
You don't need Mata. Thts actually very funny. You know we are in search of left winger, right!? Even of Mata hasn't played there for some time, he's one of the best players in that position. He has given 91 goals and assists in 119 matches for Chelsea. He'll be an awesome buy for us, mate. 😊

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes but he is not an option. Wenger tried to see if he was claiming he was on the market and quite frankly it backfired totally. The source which has reported he will hand in a transfer request is about as reliable as and the daily fail.

Our current team might be short in talent as compared to Henry/Pires era, but this team has more heart than Henry era team. I think that has been main difference between Ferguson's teams and Wenger's teams over the years.

Suarez every one knows he want to go to Madrid, I don't think he would have been good for us. Rooney he is a quality player but, I don't think he will change our team dramatically. Higuain, was too risk, would have been someone great for right price.

We need to do smart buying like the type Juve are doing, they buy good players who complement their team for right price.

But you never know may be not buying at this point might the best thing for us.

Goalkeeper: I believe Szczesny is good, goalkeepers take long time to develop.

Central defender: The ones we have are good in quality but we are short in numbers, plus is great to kn ow Sagna can play this position too. May be Sagna is our most valuable player, he can play all back 4 positions.

Defensive midfielders: I believe in this area we are covered, and when Diaby and Arteta returns from injury we will have more than we need.

Attacking midfielders/wingers: We are covered, I would like to see young players given more opportunity need to promote Gnabry.

Striker: We are short in numbers, but may be it's time to start playing Walcot more in the middle. Plus Giroud will soon be world class he needs more confidence but he has all ingredients of a great striker. Also, Poldoski needs to play more in the middle.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Now Columbus, you're kidding mate. Bergkamp, Vieira, Gilberto, Freddy, Sol, Kolo, Lauren, Keown and the list goes on. had more heart than this era. Why? They were all winners! Also, Pat Jennings, David Seaman and Jens Lehman weren't allowed to develop into great keepers while playing for the first XI. That's madness. They were bought fully developed, as great keepers. That's what we need now along with a spine of winners. That will push this core of potential champions over the line. We pay the highest ticket prices in the league so we deserve the best players who are at their peak not potentially at their peak in 2-3 years if we develop them. Anyway, 1-0 to The Arsenal today and I am praying for 2-3 players to come in to allow us to challenge this year. COYG!

With others I agree it is an insult to say Wenger created Arsenal, we know our great history and how the workers of Woolwich got together. But I have to say modern day Arsenal owes a lot to Arsene Wenger in his early days his training and dietary methods extended the playing career of our famous back 5. He was at the helm of the only unbeaten team of any era during the history of the old first division and the new premier league. He bought amazing players to the Arsenal legends we now have now in our hearts. He along with others had a vision to move us from our traditional home great as it was to arguably the best stadium in the premier league. We don't pay rent or have massive debt our future is secure. We have had some pain along the way. I hope Arsene is allowed a to finish the job we all trust he can do. Like all fans I want to see cups and honours fir our great club I, m sure Arsene does too. I ask that we unite from thus day forward and play our part as fans in helping bring the glory days back to the Arsenal.

My logest post in 5 years I hope you understand my feelings, I remember The Terry Neil years, and Bruce Rioch though the latter did buy DB10

I think he'd take a similar role to Fergie if he was to stay at the club ambassador

That sounds like a twilight zone episode, one thing though if you guys do sign Arda Turan it would be a fantastic transfer, not the one you need regarding the glaring defensive problems but a great player none the less.

moving away from the transfer window for a minute.

at the end of the day we all love arsenal, we have different opinions on the running of the club, the players, the manager but just because someone's opinion is different doesn't make them biased or fickle.

people may come across as biased, fools or remarkable geniuses but how and why do you want to judge people on their opinions.

we all want the club to win and compete. how can u question anyone's loyalty or call them fickle just on their opinions.

in my view, any person bothered enough to log in to this site multiple times a day is a devoted fan and nothing else matters.

win or lose tomorrow, we are arsenal. us fans makes arsenal and long may that continue.

Stop embarrassing yourselves by letting other teams make fun of our team and joining them in doing so. It's pathetic get behind your team.

This is what someone posted on the Liverpool board:

"Any LFC fan in need of cheering up go and take a look on the Arsenal banter page. Half of them are in meltdown. Lol."

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's because a lot of our fans are in meltdown.

Do you blame them for their utter frustration and despair, as our club is currently set for decline, when the opportunity i.e. the club has money, to move forward is not happening? Because of our incompetent, control freak and disinterested senior people at our club?

That is separate from supporting the team on the pitch, on the day and I don't give damn what other fans are saying-

This is OUR club and we are concerned for its future with the current leadership and policies.

My oh my! Some of you on this site.

Do you really think being angry on a fan board is going to change anything? Save your breath.

The behavior of a lot of you guys is akin to players who surround a ref after a penalty is given. It's futile as the ref will not change his decision. What the players should do is move on and accept the decision, then hope their keeper will save the shot.

So if you are still following my analogy just move on past the fact that we haven't thrown around great sums of money yet as what's happened has happened and you can't change it. You should just hope that we do something significant in the next few days.

Am I disappointed that we haven't brought in big names. Yes, but whining is not going to do anything. You should be positive and try to support the club in our final push to bring names in.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So you advocate just sitting back quietly and doing nothing? we are impotent in many respects, this board just want the money and this is the ONLY way to protest short of totally boycotting the games and that will never happen, you have as much chance of that happening as AW buying the right players
