This appeared in today's News; Basel say they are aware of growing interest from Arsenal in defender Aleksandar Dragovic but says the Gunners face competition to sign him.

And here is a video of him scoring against tottenham.

I don't see why giroud gets a lot of stick! He works his heart out week in week out, creating chances for others and always battling and yet a lot of arsenal fans slate him for the odd missed chance! I feel he was unlucky today in the red card and in my opinion a yellow would be justifiable for the tackle! At the end of the day he slipped! I've heard a lot of fans are happy he will be out for 3 games I personally disagree! Yes podolski doesn't get much of a run in the team as he should but I personally feel giroud has deserved his place and gervinho has hit form at a time where podolski has been injured or on the bench! I guarantee we will miss Giroud against United! There's no target man to battle with Ferdinand and Vidic, also where is the height in our team for the set peices! Mertesacker and Kosceilney have height but those tow can't constantly win balls against Vidic, Ferdinand, Jones, Carrick and RVP! Giroud is a vital asset aswell in defence! For me this means Vermaelen will have to be brought in maybe at left back or cdm! But to add height and strength to a team that will be physically incapable to battle out the majority of untied players aswell as height! In all people need to lay off Giroud, he in my opinion has done well this season, but the problem with many arsenal fans is giroud has come into side off the back of some legendary strikers such as King Henry, Bergkamp and RVP and obviously especially in his first season he will not live up to the likes of those players, this leads to conclude that Etinne Capoue or someone who has height and is a strong CDM needs to come in, in the season!

I think he gets stick because he refuses to use paragraphs!

Agree0 Disagree0

Chill out gooner red. I don't think anyone is blaming him of not putting in the effort. its just PLAIN TO SEE to all that he lacks the elite level in any attributes. he's just good to very good at everything when a team like Arsenal needs someone who is at least Excellent at least half of the things they do. Especially when we have a lone striker

the bottom line is. do any defenders in the EPL fear having to defend against him?. probably not

Am I the only one who feels we would be better suited playing Podolski as our out and out striker and then gor for a top quality left winger instead?

Someone with pace, guile and a delivery. Someone who will deliver the sort of numbers Walcott has on the right, only with more skill and reliability. Someone like Di Maria or Ben Arfa when fully fit.

We lack that threat from both flanks and considering how inconsistent Walcott can be on the right, we need a bigger danger from the left. {Ed027's Note - My dram signing is Di Maria, he is what we need, a proper winger, and a class one

Just as someone said before, that Giroud red could be a good thing as now one of Podolski, Walcott or Gervinhio will get a chance. Also means more room in team for Rosicky who was class today. Big Mert also had a quality game. Him and Kos may not be better than TV5 but they are the best pairing by far. Everton somewhat out of it now they are 9 points of us. Chelsae and Spurs have very tough games tomorow, and they still have to play eachoter :) happy days. We have done well past month or so. Away wins at Swansea, Fulsham and WBA should not be overlooked. Good work lads keep it up, COYG

Horrible performance but a win is a win. I don't mind as long as we play much better in the remaining fixtures.

Today we were absolutely appalling: I genuinely believe that is the worst I've seen Arsenal play - and I watched every minute of the 8-2. We were completely devoid of any sort of creativity. Everyone apart from our defence had a very poor game. But we won, and obviously that's what's important right now.

More generally though, I do often think that we seem to have lost our ability to destroy teams like we used to. What happened to the good old, simple '3-0' home wins we always got with Fabregas in our midfield? It's a shame really, as I think the departments in which we really used to struggle, we have got a lot better: we're a lot stronger defencely, but unfortunately we've lost a lot of the flair we once had. I still believe it's Cesc we miss the most, and not RVP.

Macc Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree and was thinking the same thing today. with Cesc you would have a center mid that actually put in a quality killer through ball and also made runs himself into the box

Don't get how people can criticize the team. A win away at fulham, no matter how we played is a good result.

If we can win every game until the end of the season and play like that I would be happy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

People criticize because its obvious that we're just papering over the cracks like we have the last few seasons with some of our results. don't you get it! beating teams like fulham or everton should NOT BE THE ARSENAL STANDARD! we should be assembling a team that can beat city, united and chelsea. things we have not been doing well over the last few seasons and thus not competing for the title. also teams that can compete with madrid, barca bayern etc.

fans like you are truly the reason the board get away with our declining standards

I think that match was the worse I have seen Arsenal play this year no passion no skill no speed in the passing no bite in the tackling the only thing Giroud kicked today was the Fulham player and he nearly missed him as well.

We are limping over the line when we should be straining every sinew to get 4th. Not happy about the Arsenal mind set.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We should be trying to get third, let alone fourth. And I don't think that straining sinews would really help our cause.

Here are some figures I found

Rich list
34 Alisher Usmanov $17, 6 billion
107 Roman Abramovich $10. 7 billion (chelsea)
248 Stanley Kroenke $5 billion
258 Sheikh Mansour $4. 9 billion (man city)
276 Ann Walton Kroenke $4. 5 billion (wife of stan)
286 Malcolm Glazer& fam $4. 4 billion (man u)
308 Joe Lewis $4. 2 billion (spuds)

Arsenal 4th richest football club in the world ($1. 33 billion)

£256 million - turnover 2012
£123 million - Cash
£150 million - emirates deal

Debts
£98 million - General debts
£360 million - emirates 260m loan taken 2006. based on 20m a year 25 years repayment deal (500-140 (7 years gone)=360m)

Shares

Total 62, 217
price per share = £16,000

Stan Kroenke (Kroenke Sports Enterprises) 41, 581 shares (66. 83%)
Alisher Usmanov (Red & White Holdings and in partnership with Farhad Moshiri) 18, 645 shares (29. 96%)
Others (supporters trust) 1991 shares (3. 21%)

Someone to buy arsenal would have to spend
996m million on shares
458m in debts

TOTAL SPEND 1. 46 billion
club worth 1. 33 billion

This tells me arsenal have lots of money to spend

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We are not the "4th richest club, in the world"

We are the "4th most valuable club, in the world"

Big difference.

The sidwell red is a debatable 1 but giroud's for me was not even a foul. And motm has to go to 10 man Fulham when sidwell was sent off we should of dominated the game. We just was simply not interested. Worrying looking as we play united next the only positive was our defence was quite solid.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry mate they were both reds Sidwells was nasty Giroud more clumsy but still a red. If we want to get tackles like that out of the game we have to stand up when our players do it.

When last did you see us playing well against a ten man opposition? Even Wenger says he hates it because it often increases the determination of the opposition- especially when it happens early in the game.

Didn't watch the game so I'm not going to judge as to what happened. But whatever happened, I am not happy about the Giroud red card!

Still, we got three points, which puts us five ahead of Spurs, which is great. We are also seven points clear of Everton after they lost to Sunderland.

Another consolation is that maybe we will see Podolski or Walcott in the middle next game, because as much as I love Giroud, he rarely scores in big games.

So despite a reportedly lackluster performance, we won, and can add another three points to our tally, and that's all that matters.

Come on Mertesacker!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ted,
Would love to see Arsenal play 4411 with Walcot behind Pod. But I doubt Wenger will change the system against any team let alone Utd.

No matter what anyone says, we did not deserve to win that game. Fulham were a better side even with 10 men.

And with Giroud out for the next 3 games, I hope Lukas leads the line, but given the rumours of his injury, who will lead the line?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We will get girouds red overturned never in a million years was it a red.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares if we didn't deserve it, fact is we held on to win, its about time we started winning these types of games which we would have lost in the past, we don't panic anymore. Manchester United have won titles by winning games when they play poorly, its good to see us doing the same.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clearly, Arsenal will appeal the decision. so I would not be too certain that Giroud will be out indefinitely, but yes if the FA does not accept the appeal, Pod is the only real option unless you think Walcott could lead the line or Gervinho. yikes!

James R.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we appeal it and the fa acts sensibly. But one never knows with the fa.

I just got odds of 50/1 on an arsenal player taking a shot from outside the 18yd box in the 2nd half. should be 250/1 but 50/1 will do!

1. Are are players aware that fulham have a player sent off. because it dosen't look like that, given that our keeper has been the busier one in the first half.

2. Why do we play Bacary. None of his crosses get beyond the first defender.

Just got back to my computer, so I don`t know if anyone else has mentioned this, but I was listening to the w. ham game on wednesday, and the commentator stated that the hammers had put arsenal to the sword at the boleyn this season, when someone called in and reminded him that we won 1-3, he said `yes but w. ham were clearly the better side on that day, and deserved to win. ` I don`t have to tell you what station it was. it is just crazy the lengths these people will go to, in order to disrespect our great club. anyway c`mon the gooners at the cottage.

Read some comments about Giroud being good or not!

Giroud for me is a better player than Alan Smith was, however Alan Smith was served by some good old fadhioned wingers like Marwood and Limpar, we do not have players like that now and we do not play that system, hence why Bendtner Chamakh have failed to make an impact at the club.
Giroud is our plan B striker with no real support, so in truth he has done a good job.
We still lack a genuine plan A striker though.

Just been watching a video of arsenals greatest goals, and been comparing the players featured to our current team. Players such as henry, pires and ljungberg could all create magic, with them on the teamsheet you were always guarunteed a goal. In our squad currently, podolski is the only one I feel confident in as a goal scorer. His left foot is deadly! Giroud misses too many opportunities, walcott shouldn't even be considered to be a goal-scorer, and don't even get me started on Gervinho! I can only hope that the rumours about podolski's injury is true and that next season he's the first name that wenger puts on the team sheet. He's absolute quality, and its a waste to not play him.

On a seperate note to all the PFA nominations,

Just a quick well done to Arshavin.

He doesn't get played at all, he hasn't seen the first team pitch for months, and every time I look at first team training photos, he is always there smiling and looking as happy as ever.

Not many players can do that, credit to Arahavin.
