Lads Liverpool fan here.

Given that (some peoples point of views) Jack Wilshere has stunted in his development, his injuries, the progression of Ramsey and having other midfielders. if a £20 million offer came in the summer from a team would you sell and buy another midfielder?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes jack I feel will never fulfill his potential, a move abroad might be the answer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jacks a very good player and if he gets fit and can stay fit would be on that team sheet every time for me, we'd regret selling him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be very tempted.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 mill? Nah, he's like sturridge and sterling. He might be a bit rubbish but he's got decent players around him which help him perform. Well actually liverpool only have one decent player but same basic principle. I think we could milk some rich sugar daddies tit for 35m+. Remember the rubbish like Carroll and Henderson you've spent money on. In that market wilshere's probs worth 100m easily. Before you slate me by saying that you can't win the league with one bloke, yes you can utd did it for ages

Agree0 Disagree0

You seemed to take that a bit personally Saint?
It seems to me from your guys' reactions that that would be a tempting offer.
I was a big fan of jacks at first, but I don't feel like he will ever fill that potential he had. I think in Ramsey and Cazorla you have a much better centrefield pairing going forward.

Just a liverpool fans opinion though :)
Many thanks for replying guys. I was just trying to gauge where roughly the fans would price him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we ditch him? We don't need the money, Ramsey and Ox need to be his inspiration as boy wonder has slipped into a squad player they have both emerged as major players this season, there'd be a long list of clubs if either of them was available.
Jack's fate is still in his own hands, just, he needs to answer his critics next season with his football not his mouth or fingers

Agree0 Disagree0

Saint that rubbish you are talking about are better than our rubbish and might just win the league, rubbish?

Agree0 Disagree0

I've said a few times now I would look to offload JW to the highest bidder should the opportunity arise. For me he offers very little and is no way a first pick for the starting 11.

Unfortunately I don't see Arsenal doing this. Perhaps the new manager will be able to get more out of JW?

Agree0 Disagree0

You asked for my opinion, so I gave it to you and backed it up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Saint if they finish higher than us you ain't backed it up.

Agree0 Disagree0

What? Have you not read or not understood what I've said? If they win it, which they will do, it will be solely because of Suarez, you can say what you like about sterling and sturridge scoring goals, but the truth is you could play any old crap around Suarez and they'd score goals and look good. I think coutinho's a decent player actually but other than him and Suarez their squad is embarressing

Agree0 Disagree0

Jack won't leave england, and I would'nt want him to go to another prem team.

hes touted to be the next gerrard.
whats the best gerrard has ever done?
oh that's right in one of his last seasons, so I think we give jack more time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Steven gerrard
FA Cup (2): 2000–01, 2005–06
League Cup (3): 2000–01, 2002–03, 2011–12
FA Community Shield (2): 2001, 2006
UEFA Champions League (1): 2004–05
UEFA Cup (1): 2000–01
UEFA Super Cup (2): 2001, 200i left out personal honours like ballon dor bronze pfa player of the year and potentially this years league
jack wilshire 0
not slating jack looks a good player to me I think be foolish to get rid but if your going to say what has stevie g done take a look slighlty more than your suggesting

Agree0 Disagree0

Saint I asked your opinion about JW, not henderson and carrol and liverpool's personic purchasing policy under kenny. But thanks for your input there.

For what it's worth there though, I'd take Henderson in a heartbeat over JW, based on this season

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - would you really bob?..not for me mate..

Ed25, on this season definitely. Henderson has been brilliant, and in the games he's played for England, looked much better for me.

Meant to say this. If Arsenal are stupid enough to let Podolski go then there is no hope for us in ever being able to recognise talent when we see it. How in the world this guy has been sitting on the bench is beyond me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Podolski isn't just the best striker we have he is one of the best players we have and has been misused since we bought him, like I said earlier in the week if you gave him the same chances as Giroud had this year he'd be on 25 goals by now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could not agree more the guys is a goal scorer he seems to score in every game he plays even when only given 20 minutes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Blame the manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski is quality, he will be here next year . for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree Golds. Pod is a legend mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand wenger with podolski.

poldi offers little back up to our LB,
he doesn't really cross it,
and scores whenever he has a shot near the box.

this is a striker mr wenger. not a wideman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank you goonerink please explain this theory to Wenger its like Vela and Arshavin all over again haha .

I don't want to pour water on our result today. But for crying out loud we beat Hull City! It's not Real Madrid in the Champions League Final. We should be beating Hull with our youth team. Even though I said in an earlier post this game wouldn't be a pushover because of the FA Cup final coming up. If we can't win games like this we might as well give up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

At least Sanogo didn't play and score a hatrick Gold's just think how negative you'd feel if happened.

Agree0 Disagree0

The great hull city.

Agree0 Disagree0

Goldy me old mate

Liverpool lost to Hull and all the LFC fans were saying Brendan didn't know what he was doing.where are they now?

Agree0 Disagree0

BANBURY. Shouldn't be happening though. Teams like Liverpool, Arsenal, and even Chelsea v Sunerland the other day, when they are getting beaten like this it's got to be put down to complacency. I've seen it many a time from youth football upwards. When a good team plays a supposedly weak one the stronger team seems to lower its standards. Yet when the weaker team plays a stronger team it ups its game. I think it's a case of the stronger side walking on the pitch and thinking that the 3 points are a done deal before the ball is kicked. We should be smashing teams like Hull just like Chelsea should have smashed Sunderland too. There is no excuse for it apart from what I have just said. My opinion mind you.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 21:59:17
A few posts about it's only Hull City, well a few teams have struggled there and any 3-0 away win in the PL is a good win guys

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree mate

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 22:40:03
Totally agree, anything other than three points from the remaining games is irrelevant. I don't care if they're called Hamilton Academical's.

This season is all but done, just get the points in the bag and then see about the FA Cup.

Next season, new ball game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not the fact we hammered hull, it's not hull we struggle to beat, its the persistent losing to the teams above us and not being able to challenge top teams in europe, its not about raising your game against them. Its joining the big league that's the problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 20:28:11
Goldboy, did you have a nice Sunday with the Scousers? Lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What do you think Dags? Is it my imagination or are they all twice as loud as anybody else. I'm being serious.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol, god bless you Golds

Great performance today. can't remember the last time we played like that. Welcome back Mesut and Aaron.

Perfect timing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We were playing hull, we should be beating these teams, we all know this isn't the problem. The problems the level that we can not reach yet. We only occasionally slip up against mediocre sides and rarely beat the good ones.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more DG, but am I the only one who is torn between thinking next season will be massive for us with a bit more luck plus a couple good additions and I'm sure something will go wrong to spoil it like loosing Sagna and kos in the summer.
I want to hope so much but!

Agree0 Disagree0

I hear what you are saying G62, i'm not thinking of next season yet, let's try to finish 4th, pick up FAC and see what summer transfer window brings us.

Brilliant game, not sure where that wind came from to blow the boards, as it wasn't windy.

Pod and Ramsey, never stopped all game played brilliant.

And can giroud jump, I don't think I seen him once jump.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the wind came from Arsenes backside mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ghosts. Spooky.

So many pulses today and only one real concern, if we finish the season in fantastic form will Arsene bother buying anyone of note or believe he has all he needs!
Its a dilemma for sure :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You make a fair point G62

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 20:47:46
The trouble he'll have is the fact Man United are apparently buying, Draxler, Reus, Kroos, Garay, Mangala, Gundogan, Di Maria, Koke, Herrera, Fabregas, Cavani, Shaw, Barkley, Modric, Lallana, Song, Hummels, Rami, Vidal and Sneijder so there won't be anyone left to buy. :-(

It will be something to see though, Moyes getting that lot to play utter carp. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - if anyone can jenny...hes you man!.. :)

GUNNER62. Please don't say that mate. If Arsene reads this site you might be giving him ideas if he stays. That's the last thing we need is him having another £100 million + Rollover again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jen, that's what you call a great reply.

Ed025, any chance of a hamper for Jenny please? Lol

4 cup finals left for us

We could have had more than 3 today

We have to be absolutely ruthless the rest of the way

Newcastle will be a mammoth match. Crowd needs to be into it from the get go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Newcastle are awful. If we don't beat them, we don't deserve 4th.

Great result today, boosted our goal difference and put real pressure on Everton going into Man U game. Aaron Ramsey, Podolski and Koscielny were superb. Ramsey and Ozil back to the starting XI must of been a big boost for the team.

Szezsncy - Only had afew saves to make, looked sharp and commamded his box.

Sagna - Put a solid shift in. Really hope we give him what he wants and he stays.

Mertesacker - Aerial dominance and well positioned most of the time. Solid display.

Koscielny - Amazing at the back, showed great aggression to win the ball and timed all tackles and jumps perfectly.

Monreal - don't see why people want him gone? Good going forward and did the job at the back.

Arteta - Average today. Offered little going forward and was domimated by Huddlestone + Livermore. Why didn't Flamini start?

Ramsey - Oh what could of been if he stayed fit. Well taken goal. Added much needed drive to midfield.

Cazorla - Quiet today. Some good passing and assist for Rambo.

Ozil - Looked lethargic but still made great range off passes and attacking runs.

Podolski - Two well taken goals. The striker we are missing? Give him a chance and he'll take it. Great surging runs down the left.

Giroud - Linked up with midfield well, but got out-muscled by Davies far too much. Unlucky not to score aswell.

Ox - Looked great when he came on, really stretched Hull and caused them problems.

Flamini - Had little to do.

Looks like 4th place and FA cup if we play like that every game. Progress? I believe so.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good analysis Detroit, totally agree mate

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 16:50:16
Great result today, how we have missed Rambo, totally different team when he plays

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Completely agree. Not just him when you see a player like Ozil in the team, I know it was just a steady return, but it makes it more frustrating for how our season has ended.

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely Rocky

Agree0 Disagree0

HULL CITY! Not anyone who is that special, hull city. Not the biggest test we have had this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 15:07:32
I have a feeling by next weekend 4th place will be signed sealed deliveed, sorry Ed025 its just a felling

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - if we win today G62...its still game on mate..

G62 as soon as you posted that Everton scored, lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Not with united playing there ping pong pass it to everton football lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Well with Everton winning 4th place won't be decided until the next 2 games have passed.

On paper being realistic the Man u fixture at home for Everton was probably the easiest, Southampton away and M City at home is where I expect them to drop points. I think 2 home wins for us and we will be safe.

Very good away win, just shows when we get the 'big' boys back we are a good outfit, and the bench was looking good as well

4 weeks too late . sighs lol

Agree0 Disagree0

You obviously haven't learnt your lesson yet.

Its amazing just how bad I am at predictions it really his :-)

The best thing up happen to us this year is Wales not qualifying for the World Cup.
A fresh Ramsey next season alongside a settled Ozil and a top striker will be huge for us going forward.
I dislike if's in football, but.
IF Podolski and Giroud had pace what a team we would have.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pod has got decent pace, Giroud on the other hand is very slooooooooooow!

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski would be an absolute beast if he had pace. Against WH and today, he has played much further forward allowing him to get into the game. We've seen the real Lukas Podolski in the last two games.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've said all I need to on Podolski, he's awesome and much better than Giroud!
It's no coincidence he's looking better with the likes of Ramsey back in the side

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 13:57:19
For such a promising season, we are now mathematically out of the race for the title with 4 games still to play. How we have fell away over the last 8-10 weeks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Apr 2014 13:14:19
Ed, do we have any interest in balotelli or el shaaraway as they seem good targets with ac having such a poor season

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

Fingers crossed not on the Balotelli front, douche bag.

Just thought I would share this with you all. I've got family over for dinner today they are already here watching the Liverpool game and 4 of them are mad Liverpool supporters . It's absolute torture! I really hope we turn it on this afternoon otherwise I will have to hibernate. LOL

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Best of luck with that, it would do my head.

Switch the TV off mate lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - if you associate with liverpool supporters...you get what you deserve in my book.. :)

Only ******* problem is they have all crawled out of the woodwork, it used to be manchester united fans, so what's happened now is man u fans are hibernating pretending football isn't important only to be replaced by liverpool fans

for me i'd be happy if it were chelsea and citeh and for one reason only I don't know any chelsea or citeh fans :)

although i'm sure there would be a few change support as appears has happened with liverpool this year

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed 025. I've inherited it mate. my sister in law married a Scouser. It's absolute torture round here mate. Gerrrraaard! Sttttiiirrliinng! It's doing my head in. I wish they would all F Off home. I know what's going to happen. Come the Arsenal game they will all F Off into the other room. We had better win otherwise I've had it.!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol, as i'm old enough ( 52 ) to remember when lfc where top of the tree so to speak.i can tell you the scousers are x2 worse than the mancs, and when this summer is over all those who where wishing liverpool fc goodluck will be eating their words and welcoming the mancs back.trust me

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought you were only allowed a maximum of 3 scousers in one room at any one time, something to do with static charge and noise pollution?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank god! They have just gone .!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - check your hub caps are still there goldboy.. :)

Ed025. Just read your reply that made me P myself laughing. Yes the alloys are still there but can't understand why the bag of flour has gone missing which my wife was using to make the Yorkshire Puddings. Any ideas? LOL

We will probably finish fourth this season and live to fight another day in the CL next season, please let's not let our self's down by pointing fingers at others, they've played less games, they've spent most money they this, they that rubbish, we need to accept reality and learn the lessons if we want to ever be the best again.

The idea is to actually to prove yourself to be the best over a season not to come up with reasons why you would have been if it wasn't for X why or Z reasons.

How we would laugh if other teams fans tried telling us how lucky the invincibles were and how their team would have finished above them if it wasnt for what ever reason Arsene that season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

G62

It isn't a bad thing to look at the reasons why things have gone wrong, I certainly hope Arsene will do that, he should do anyway.

Of course the number of games is a factor, Arsenal, M City and Chelsea have faded whereas as Liverpool have been very fresh. Of course we haven't helped ourselves with regards squad numbers.

And of course the well documented injury list, massive players out for a huge period of time has dictated our season to a certain degree.

I have a feeling AW will surprise many this Summer

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree- we should look to ourselves and try and correct why we fell short- not look to clubs above us for the "reason(s)" why they are above us.

As for 4th, IF we make it- this should be used to attract the best players we can and the extra revenue towards purchasing them.

So it's a means to an end, not THE end (as much as I enjoy the Cl matches, we want to see progress).

We understand why we did that in the past, but there's no for that anymore.

For me this summer is a big window wenger and the club and it will demonstrate how (or not) ambitious they are.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Banbury
A little while ago when all looked at its worst I posted how the missing out on the CL might not be all bad, I was shot down with people saying players wouldn't sign for us and we would be out of things for years to come if that happend, now it seems the only reason Liverpool will finish above us is because they were not in the CL this season! We can't have it both ways and have any credibility.
I don't think we need that much to be back in the mix next season 3 good signings and better injury management and it may well be a different story this time next year.
But for now let's give credit where its due and learn from our mistakes

Agree0 Disagree0

G62

Liverpool didn't really need to sign anyone though, so attracting players for this seasons campaign wasn't an issue .

To be honest I agree with you having a season out of Europe isn't that bad, we are not in need of the money . I think our squad without the demands of Europe would challenge very well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Banbury mate we might even add the quality 2 or 3 players we need over the summer to both compete in CL and put in a sustained PL challenge.
We ain't as far away as our 2014 results make us look.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 06:31:08
Have liverpool, won the league, because i'm sure their is 3/4/5/ games left.
Dont forget they had to force saurez to stay, paying mega bucks.for me he will move in the summer.
How close have liverpool been in the last 7/8 years, they have only one the league cup.
Yet a few on here think we should model ourselfs on them.
For me man city will pinch it, liverpool will crumble under the presure Havnt they been here before 88/89
Liverpool have had a good league run, but that's it
out league cup early
out f a cup early, (a major brithish trophy)
Champions league None excistant.
Playing a lot less game I think has help.
For me please don't offer me a step back.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't know if people are saying model our self on them but we could learn from them! If we had put our foot down with Van Pussy, Na$ri, Clichy and Fab by forcing them to stay then maybe just maybe we would have won a trophy before now if we even manage to win one this year?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - could you imagine RVP getting the chances Giroud received this season? Arsenal would be, at the very least, right in the title fight now.}

ED1
hasny rvp been out most of the season.
Dont think he would have help of the treatment table,, lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he was injured because of the training methods there, so it is very unlikely those injuries would have occurred at Arsenal.}

Law of averages would say he would have got injured, he would be no different to the other key players :)

Agree0 Disagree0

BAZ

If we hadn't have sold them, they would have gone on a free, Fab we owed it to him, it was his boyhood club. RVP was conned by SAF into going. The other two had their wages very nearly doubled .

We paid the price for not negotiating contracts earlier

Agree0 Disagree0

Get what you're saying man (unless I misread any part!)
But if someone told me now that we could pay RVP mega bucks and of had him stay, I'd be all over that.

As ED001 says, if he was getting the chances Giroud has been getting, this season would be a different ball game.
Not to mention his movement would of suited Özil to a tee and he'd only of
Benefitted from this new, direct
Aaron Ramsey and vice versa.

Not being in Europe certainly helped them, as like us, they have a relatively small squad, but at the end of the day, it should be the boss's responsibility to ensure we have a big enough squad to compete on all fronts.

Take Bayern as a prime example.
Even before Pep, they have at least 2
Quality players for every position.
There's never a problem.

We have a team that STARTS some bang average players and we play our (in my opinion) best striker as a left winger!

So really we can't take anything away from Liverpool.
Except they get a penalty almost every week.

I personally want them to win the league for 2 reasons.

1: ANYONE but Chelsea.
2: Gerrard dropped a certain 'C Bomb' on RVP apparently and earned my
Instant respect.

Peace!

Agree0 Disagree0

Welsh mate sorry to break this too you but 3 numbers on the lottery are not better than the jackpot ticket.
Belittling Liverpool's progress and achievements and bigging up the FA cup for more than its worth? ouch! Sounds like Sourest of all the grapes mate.
Let's take inspiration from the fact that just a short while ago we we're well ahead of Liverpool in the progress stakes and are not so far behind now.

The PL table over 38 games is the mark of every team's season, let's not try and bend the rules to be the best let's work towards doing it for real

Agree0 Disagree0

Banbury I hear you but at the same time that just shows that our biggest loss on the transfer front was Dein pretty sure he negotiated with 2 years left on the contract not 2 months ala Sagna haha. But seriously the first 2 or 3 years of Gazidis was a joke for our club and we are only just getting back to something like the strong club that we were! Pretty sure Van P would be on about 35-40 with the chances Giroud has had.Pretty sure Pod would be on at least 25-30 with the chances Giroud has had ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Baz, Gazidis has been poor, when did Dein ever announce to the world how much money he had to spend . IG hasn't relly performed has he?

Agree0 Disagree0

He has been way below the level that Dein set! Just shows how much a brilliant chief exec can bring to the club Gazidis has done well with sponsorship and revenue streams but has come up way short on contracts and transfers, saying that though he's not done badly with Ozil and a few others recently.
