Hats off to you Mr Wenger you were one of the best in the premiership to be fair.
Just should have went 5 years ago but you were a good one.
Leahy 12 stands and gives you a round of applause.

The best games I ever watched, the passion, tension, Great football, red yellow cards, tackles, scraps
They had everything them games.
And respect after it, like the programme Keane and viera made.
Best games I've witnessed to be truthful I haven't got a buzz like it since watching football.

I know i have been one of the biggest moaners when it comes to wenger, but we cannot all deny what he brought to our football club. I only started supporting arsenal after wenger came and he is the only coach i have known.

Wenger has always played beautiful attacking football, something that has made arsenal have a global fan base especially in Africa and asia.

I hope the club will find a coach who has an attacking philosophy the one wenger ingrained in Arsenal's DNA. Thanks Arsene.

Good post Punani mate, maybe we need George type manger to come in build and organise a great defence then a couple of years after find a attacking manager to add the flair, in 4 years time we could once again the dominant force in English football again.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2018 01:26:21
Thanks gunner mate. Gazidis alluded to the fact that we will get a coach with an attacking philosophy. Think it will be between enrique, jardim, nagelsmann, tedesco, viera and arteta.

Sy, if its me you're looking for (in the words of lionel richie) I've been out playing golf. i'm just relieved that its all been sorted, its took a while but its the best for everyone involved with the club. The players might now find that 10 to 15% extra to win him the EL now and that would be even better. Looking back he perhaps should have gone after the invincibles, he was never going to top it. Lol.

To be fair if Arsene had gone after the invincibles we would have had a dozen managers by now trying to replace the ireplaceable.
Imagine anyone trying to replicate not just the achievement but the style it was achieved in? Impossible. No one would have stood a chance with us fans had Arsene gone then.

Maybe this season with so many people who had previously been 100% against change finally accepting it had to come is in hind sight the perfect time.
The new manager will get a much fairer chance from almost every fan now than at any point over the last 22 years.

For Arsenes own sake 2014 with the cup win over Hull would have been perfect, what's it they say in show biz? Always leave them wanting more!
For Arsene himself he hung on to long but for the next manager Arsene has timed it perfectly.

20 Apr 2018 22:27:22
Looking back Gunner the club climed the hill got to the prem summit unbeaten, that won't ever be beaten, it was then downhill but it was all ways going to be. The new guy has a goal to chase now and we can all expect the bar to be raised again. Football has moved on and so can we now. Until the board appoint Arteta. Lol.

I read an interesting tweet or whatever it is they use on the bbc from a Chelsea fan the other day that said " as a club every time we win the title the Chelsea fans owners and the club as a whole become totally arrogant hence our seesaw seasons " he included himself in that observation.
Both Conte and Chelsea will know success again just not with each other.

Farewell to le prof. Its truly an end of an era.
Despite the poor past few years Wenger is a Legend, a visionary and a football great, no one can take that away from him.

About his replacement, Gazidis was quoted as saying;
ā€˜Someone who plays exciting and progressive football. But I think there is also a significant thing at Arsenal in how the candidate represents the club. We need to make sure we donā€™t lose his qualities and his values. ā€™

ā€˜Our academy teams are doing extremely well. Under the radar, we have a lot of young players coming through so that value of bringing in youth has got to be one quality as well. ā€™

Tuchel ticks all those boxes, from his brand of football to his giving young players a chance. I think Tuchel is a good option with Henry as his assistant.

Fun times ahead for all gunners!

I actually like what mourinho said today! When he said about respect amongst football people. Itā€™s easy to be an arm chair critic Iā€™m as bad as the rest but in the real world thereā€™s only a tiny percentage of people who could do and have done what Wenger has. The real problem has been the board. No point ruminating but missing out when a young hungry manager like klopp was over looked. Anyway onwards and upwards. Letā€™s hope they bring the EL home for the fans and a true Arsenal legend!

I think there will be 60 million Arsenal fans in the UK for just 90 minutes on Thursday night.
I think even some Spurs fans will be wanting Arsene to win the Europa league trophy now.
Every now and then on very rare occasions barriers and rivalry get put aside for very special people and respect overcomes differences, I think Arsene is about to find out just how much the vast majority of the British public and football fans all over the world admire and respect him.

It's an odd feeling, on the one hand this season looks like being the worst in his reign as manager, unless by some miracle we win the EL. On the other hand Wenger has been an awesome manager, overlooking the building of a new stadium and new training facilities, taking the cub to a new level, reaching the CL final, winning titles, record FA Cups wins, etc.
My own feeling is that us fans needed a change, indeed many fans know only Wenger as manager, which is amazing. He will be an impossible act to follow and I pray that the club apppoint a manager that will lift the fans and get the Emirates rocking.
It was clear with the movement going on in terms of the backroom staff that things were changing and Wenger made some sharp comments in this respect. Now we will see if was Wenger who wouldn't push out the boat in terms of signings or Kroenke and the board. The final snail in his coffin was the poor actual attendance at recent matches. I have a feeling that the final few matches will be exciting.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

20 Apr 2018 15:45:31
I hope there is a full house of 62,000 fans that everyone can see only those with special powers ;-) for all our remaining games.
The stay away fans have got the change that they and so many of us wanted so it would silly and childish not to remember the good times and let go of the bad ones now.
The battle is over the war is won now let's show man city and anyone else who has reason to celebrate this season exactly how it's done.
22 years service not all good by any stretch of the imagination but equally a long long way from all bad by absolutely anyone's standard.
What is there left of the season? 4 weeks tops? Let's make them all great ones for Arsene regardless of results.
Oh amd if the players fancy getting involved by showing up in all remaining games they'd be very welcome :-)

Youā€™ve made me smile 62 as I can now see the love you have for Wenger. I think the feelings for Wenger polarised the fan base because stubborn people like me would defend him for ever and remind Wenger-outs thatā€™s heā€™s a legend etc but the truth is we all admired him and both knew we needed change but at different times and both wanted it to be respectful. I took the banter as disrespecting him but reading the below - it couldnā€™t be further from the truth. We all live our club and admired Wenger. Some fell out of love with him sooner but still respect him and admired him.
Nice posts and hereā€™s to a great send off.
I will raise a glass of Sancerre tonight to him!

Iā€™m looking forward to Sunday now G62. For me itā€™s going to be a celebration of wengers career. I wonā€™t be celebrating his stepping down but Iā€™m respectably glad. Maybe itā€™s the catalyst for us going out and doing a job on athletico, if this doesnā€™t light a fire under the players then nothing will.

SY mate every bottle of Becks I drink tonight I will dedicate to Arsene for everything brilliant he's done for our club, if I had to drink a bottle for every wonderful brilliant memory he's given me I'd be drinking from now to kick off Thursday night and then miss the rest of the month long Arsene Wenger celebrations with a hangover:-)
I'm looking forward to Sunday too now Sanogo mate and I will be watching live for the first time in a while too :-) I'd like us to win but if we don't hey ho I'm more interested in the signing Arsenes name before during and after the game come what may.
I really hope the players and every single Arsenal fan everywhere show Arsene the respect he so obviously has earned. We don't always have to agree with people to respect them.
I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the West Ham fans will show thier class on Sunday and join us 100% in what should be the first of some very emotional last few games for everyone.
I can feel a touch hey fever coming on already, where's me hanky.

Just seen on sky sports ā€œCeltic wonā€™t stand in the way of Rogers to arsenalā€ I bet they bloody wonā€™t you could put a monkey in a suit and pay him a banana a week and still win the SPL, which begs the question as to why Celtic arenā€™t looking at that as an option. I donā€™t understand why in certain circles people are raving about the job he is doing up there. God could you imagine the piss taking on the terraces if this was Arsenalā€™s master plan. We would all be begging for Wenger to come back.

Liverpool supporter just coming along to say that whatever has. been happening over the last season or two Arsene is a 24 carat gold living legend and most likely the best manager you have had.

He had to go head to head against Fergie and Arsene was the guy who showed dignity and class.

He led the move from Highbury and he led the best team the EPL has ever seen. The invincibles were majestic.

You need to get his statute built. Too many times we celebrate our heroes when they have passed. It would be so much better to show appreciation love and support when the person is around to savour it and you have that opportunity.

Win the UEFA cup for Arsene and let's hope we can play you pre-season in the Super Cup or whatever it is called (if we can win the Champions League this season) .

If we have a hall of fame for managers Arsene gets a seat at the top table.

Maybe he should take on the England job now. He would be pretty good at that I suspect.

I hope so tommy Iā€™m behind your boys for The champions league, I always wanted klopp years back and I was always Wenger in back then but that was only if klopp wasnā€™t on the radar. Klopp will do for you what Wenger did for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2018 16:59:45
Wenger and Klopp are made out of the same slab of granite.

They are solid football men of substance. No plastic in sight.

They are in it for the long haul to build legacies and to give the clubā€™s fans memories that they can pass on to their grandchildren.

Wenger may have tarnished his reputation a little but his status as a top top manager will come through.

You owe him a massive debt of gratitude for all the wonderful years and success.

Good luck in finding the right guy to take on the job.

We will be looking to kick on again next season so look forward to when we next meet.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Apr 2018 12:33:07
It is for the best. Both parties the club and wenger can move on with dignity.
Announcing it now was the best thing wenger could have done. Imagine if results didn't go our way in the last few weeks the atmosphere would have been toxic.
Hopefully the emirates will be rocking till the end of the season full capacity giving him a deserved send off. I have been a big critic of wenger in my posts but i always said he should leave with his legacy intact and not hounded out. What he has done for this club won't be forgotten but arsenal were becoming stale. This should be a catalyst for players to fulfill the ambitions of fans and go out there and give 110 per cent in winning the europa league.
Looking ahead i am excited with a new era for arsenal.

Great post mate. No player is Safe now and the new man whoever he is will be watching closely so any of our players who want to be part of our future need to start impressing the next manager now.
Personally I'm in no hurry for the new man to be announced as I think this is Arsenes time and their time will come soon enough.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Apr 2018 15:15:51
Our attacking array of talent is up their with the best in premiership. Our next manager whoever it maybe must address our defensive frailities. This summer is about getting in our new manager early signings in early and have a good pre season albeit the world cup. Once our defence and midfield is shored up we can compete for honours.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Apr 2018 15:56:37
That's next seasons task mate, get the defence and midfield organised and displined with whoever comes in then the season after that we should be thinking about challenging for top 4 again with real purpose.
Top 7 again next season would be acceptable as long as we can see where we are improving along the way in my opinion. A season with no thrashings would be nice for starters.

Those who are unable to let go of the anger will be a very small minority now mate, it's time for us all to draw a line under our previous divisions and unite once more behind the club long term and for the rest of this season ONE ARSENE WENGER THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER.
ABSOLUTELY THE GREATEST LEGEND IN THE CLUBS HISTORY AND WE'VE HAD A FEW OVER THE YEARS TOO.

Iā€™m so glad after the thread the other day. He may be stubborn but heā€™s not stupid. So now the fans can come back. I wonder if it was in his mind that fans may not turn up on Thursday?! At least weā€™re all united again boys.

I'm glad he did it at this time hopefully it will have the desired effect and get the crowd and players on board. I feel if we had lost to atleti and he then announced it everyone would be a bit meh and there wouldn't be the same feeling of good will. And if we won the EL and he stepped down it would be the end of the season with no time to give him a good send off and appreciate his last games in charge.

That stubborn old goat has finally seen sense, only joking. I hope best all round for everyone. Its really exciting, now win the EL, go out on a high and let's hope the board pick the right successor. The future is bright, it will be like a cloud moving away. No disrespect but now we do have a massive chance to do something fresh.

I want what is best for Arsenal more than Arsene but that doesn't stop me feeling sad that it ever came to this in the first place.
Today shouldn't be about blame it should be about a celebration of the past and a new future.

LFC fan in peace. As much as the time was probably a little overdue for Wenger to go he did a great job. Hope the stadium fills up for his last few games.

Regarding Viera. I think he is worth a shot. The directors as the eds have said have made some very good moves in key roles when it comes to those that look after recruitment etc. If they can look after the players coming in it may allow someone like Viera come in and spend a good ten years at the club.

Stability is something I think most clubs would like and are missing now a days.

Viera would certainly calvinise the fans behind him and get instant respect from the players. Vieria was part of our grestest team in recent history so knows the formula to get Arsenal competiting again. It will not happen overnight it may take a few years under a new coach to get us competing in the league again, but with the right ideas and vision it can happen.

Probably going to reiterate what most will say but such a huge thank you for arsenal for what he has done for us and I'm sure I'm not alone in despite wanting this it does still feel a sad day. Now we can finally all get behind him and the team.

Don't like the odds on Tuchel joining though! Funny how an hour before Wenger said that Vieira has the potential.

Nagelsmann surely has to be one on the list!

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 20th April 2018

The Wilshere situation typifies how badly we have been run for many seasons in terms of players contracts. At the end of the season we have Wilshere and Mertesacker out of contract, Ramsey, Welbeck and others down to a year to run.
Wilshere has reportedly been offered a reduced basic wage, when he has proved his fitness and what would he cost to replace in the club's depleted squad?
Meanwhile Wenger extended Cazorla's deal by a year when he failed to make a single appearance and is now talking of giving him a new deal if he can prove his fitness. Wenger, wake up, you have a fit 26 year old international player and a player who nearly lost part of his leg and is 34 this year. Keep Wilshere and give him a decent contract. If we lose Wilshere, Ramsey and Welbeck this summer, we could be in real trouble, as we need as many as 8 players to come in and under Wenger that simply won't happen and even a new manager will have difficulty signing and integrating so many players. Ox and Debuchy typify the problem with Wenger, both are playing well with their new clubs. Ox could play in the semi-final of the CL and the way Debuchy is playing he could make the French World Cup squad.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - I think it will be two seasons before we see Arsenal getting back to winning ways, Iā€™m sure you will add quality this summer. You have made excellent appointments in the scouting department which will reap dividends. Iā€™m adamant there are exciting times ahead for Arsenal fans but a lot hinges on Wengers departure and also who the new man is.

20 Apr 2018 06:06:15
Iā€™d have a fit Santi Cazorla over Jack Wilshere every day of the week and twice on Sundays, he has more ability in his big toe than Jack has in his whole body and whilst being out injured probably still has better stats than him!

If and I appreciate itā€™s a big if, he does get fit then he is worth a years contract, heā€™s only 33 and Wilshere just needs to be moved on, heā€™s currently hopeless and offering nothing.

Sorry Sanogo mate. šŸ˜”.

20 Apr 2018 07:08:07
I agree Stoner, that Santi over Jack, but Santi has been almost perpetually injured since 2015 and has not featured since October 2016 when he injured his Achilles' tendon, fast approaching 2 years ago, requiring numerous operations, including reconstructive surgery to the tendon to replace part of it which became infected. So with almost 3 years on the sidelines and turning 34 in a matter of months it is time to let him move on. Whereas Jack has proved his fitness this season and at 26 has many years ahead of him.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Apr 2018 08:25:33
Arsene has made bizarre decisions on players rewarding players who are long term injury prone new contracts while allowing our best players contracts to run down Iwobi is used continously while Joel Campbell and Gnarby couldn't get a look in unless there was no other possible option.
We are now in a place where the club is split in fractions rather than down the middle some fans have already drifted away from the club others don't want us to win the europa league because it might save Arsenes job while others want to win it but not if it saves Arsene and others still are happy with what ever we do as long as Arsene is out manager.
Some fans think we are just a couple of players away others think we are a couple of players plus a new manager away while others think we are miles away and a new manager will only be the beginning of a long journey back to being a real force in the game again.
What the club needs most importantly of all right now is unifying, the waring fractions need to be brought back together for a common cause because I don't think the club has another season of toal apathy left in it.
You only have to read the posts on here or talk to friends and fellow Arsenal fans to see the passion is fading fast and this season it's really picked up speed as the emirates is only 2/ 3 full, this time last year who'd have thought that possible? But this time next year will it be only half or a third full if we simply carry on as we are? No one knows but the trend suggests it's a good possibility.

More than anything else the club needs to bring everyone back on the same side to end the apathy and bring back the passion for the club, they have to find someone both the players and fans can all unite behind which isn't going to be easy to do, but there is one thing for certain, if uniting the fractions that are Arsenal football club looks difficult now just imagine how much bigger it will be this time next year if we simply just carry on as always again.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2018 08:42:22
I can understand them only offering him a lower basic wage with performance add ons to bring it up to similar to it is now, I know that means he's unlikely to sign, because someone else will offer him more on a free and that will leave a hole that will be hard to fill and more expensive than just giving him a raise. But he's hardly justified a raise, he had barely played until this year and up until then I think almost everyone but sanogo would of snapped the hand off anyone who offered anything for him. It looked like diaby all over again, just a sick note taking up a squad place, but he has proved his fitness and I hope he signs although that could all change quite quickly with his injury record. So giving him a big contract would be madness imo. I also haven't seen him linked with any top team even though he will be free.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2018 09:12:19
Jack isn't suddenly important to us because of how good he is or what an outstanding season he's had its only what a poor state Arsenal are in that makes Jack makes look vital.
At the start of the season no one but Sanogo cared if Jack stayed or went but over this season he's become an important player again simply because of how poor the rest of our midfield has been shown to be.
I've read Wolves are interested in Jack but I've not read much about City United Spurs Chelsea Liverpool trying to capture his signature just yet, which I think puts things into a little perspective, vital to Arsenal but certainly not being coutterd by the teams above us as yet despite being available on a free, that's got to show us something surely?

Save salary of both and bring in Ruben Nevez. He would be a great fit. He is better than Xhaka, can tackle but has an all round skill set better than any of our central midfielders.
