So where are all the plonker who said we would win the league in the poll 4 weeks ago. Some of you just don't understand football.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

{Ed025's Note - it looks miles away at the moment steve..

20 Aug 2016 20:04:28
Comedians Steve

After today Wenger will see no need for another CB.

Agree3 Disagree3

20 Aug 2016 20:06:52
Rose tinted glasses Steve.

Agree4 Disagree3

20 Aug 2016 20:11:37
Those same people still think we will Steve because their votes were based on a we will win every game until proven otherwise mentality not from a footballing perspective.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:44:40
What about your famous fan with his headphones, he said Arsenal are going to win the quadruple lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:49:45
Raver nearly as deluded ascsome of your fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:35:35
I think someone posted the other week they will always back Arsenal to win WTF is that all about

I reckon he must be aged 7.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - i thought they would win today bam bam, i gave them a walk-over with the liverpool result with the first game back and euro fatigue factors, but today with the players available i expected better mate..

20 Aug 2016 20:37:09
Never fear.
Welbeck will be back in January.
Just in time for our top 10 finish.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:40:51
Guys at least you can always be happy when you know you are right! A small token I know but a token it is!

Agree7 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:54:29
What about your famous fan who said Spurs would finish below Arsenal again Raver mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 21:06:15
Sanogo,
Surely you can't be happy mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 21:19:40
I no its a risk but if we don't get a cb its not the end of the world holding played ok 2day think he should b given a chance he can only get better playing next 2 kos but a ST is a must if we don't get someone in then i will start worrying there's no point in having players like ozil if he's got no 1 2 pass 2.

Agree1 Disagree5

20 Aug 2016 22:00:18
I'm not putting Holding down but Chambers started off brilliantly but was soon found out, I'm not saying that will happen to Holding but it's a big ask to go from championship religation fight football to premier league top 4 chasing over night.

Agree5 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 22:34:56
What famous fan said that gunner, the raver, Jude law, Phil Collins lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 22:52:41
Boris Johnson I think it was Raver mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2016 02:29:23
Cringe

Look at the vultures swooping in having pops at the optimistic, just because there optimistic they clearly have no football knowledge. What a joke! Just because someone says they always back Arsenal to win means they must be a child. Ridiculous!

I thought we all supported the same football team?

Agree2 Disagree2

20 Aug 2016 22:25:44
ED

Didn't Liverpool have any players in the Euro's then.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - they did bam bam but klopp decided to play his, maybe arsene is too soft with his stars or maybe that the french went further than the rest was a factor i dont know, for me all players are mollycoddled these days and needing a rest after 6 games will be the next shout..

20 Aug 2016 19:41:46
5 points behind the leaders after 2 games

Never seen that coming.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its called lack of investment malaga..

20 Aug 2016 19:55:13
Like Steve said earlier Malaga mate our battle isn't with the leader's that was obvious before the Liverpool game.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 19:47:30
Thanks to clattenburgh, we are still in the title race. Lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - clangerberg was arsenals MOM..

20 Aug 2016 19:47:35
I'm not annoyed any more ed

36 more pl games and he's gone.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - if things stay like they are it could be a lot sooner mate..

20 Aug 2016 20:03:31
Blimey Ed,
Even you are turning anti Wenger :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - always been a massive fan and supporter of his work ethic dags, but sometimes you have to say what you see (as roy walker would say) and that looked as dis-jointed as any arsenal side i have ever seen mate..

20 Aug 2016 20:18:16
Maybe because the players don't believe in him.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:28:53
Can't see him being sacked or walking away early Ed025 mate, so think it's this season at the very least.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its a results business G62 and we will have to see how things pan out before we speculate mate..

20 Aug 2016 20:38:14
Agree with that Ed.

Same faces playing the same style.

No spark mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:45:39
I think you call it fair enough ed πŸ‘πŸ» we are where we are. Hopefully a revoloution will come . We're scragging around atm.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a revolution is not really needed SLB, just some quality investment in the playing staff mate..

20 Aug 2016 21:01:05
Dags you know the motto, do the same things and get the same results.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 21:59:28
Steve,
Wash, rinse, repeat mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 19:39:49
No doubt I'm about to say what many are. But if that doesn't show we need a new CF nothing will.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2016 19:48:29
D16 if that doesn't show we need a new manager, nothing will.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:02:31
Both Walcott and Sanchez are lost as centre forwards and thus we are relying on Giroud to stay fit in and form to have any chance this season which is asking to much let's be honest, we need another proper centre forward striker as much as defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:12:50
Lol but that's not going to happen This month Steve. Still time for a CF. breaks my heart. I don't understand why even the players don't seem up for it. And I don't buy that's because of Wenger. Something is clearly wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:29:55
Problem is mate, every logical person sees it as that, it's a reason we NEED a new forward.

Arsene sees it as the reason we need to try Chuba or Yaya up top next game.

Still, 11 days to go!

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 19:33:35
Leicester got robbed to be honest. They should have won. It's not a matter of optimism, instead a matter of truth. This is the simple truth, We Were Lucky!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2016 19:53:08
I wonder if Leicester finish above both Hull and Arsenal hull will complain they did their bit but were let down other teams who couldn't beat Leicester:-)

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 19:25:30
I'm not going to mug you off but you lot look a very average side this season, Leicester completely played you off the park today and you are very lucky to get your first point, I don't think spurs, city, Utd, Chelsea won't be losing any sleep worrying about you. If you don't buy in the next two weeks I could even see you struggling for top 6.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

20 Aug 2016 19:31:50
I actually think we will still end up ahead of your lot raver in 5th and 6th. We always do.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 19:39:23
Although I agree we have looked average. But only 2 games in. That being said you are aware you boys haven't looked all that?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they are not supposed to D16...they are spurs.. :)

20 Aug 2016 19:44:09
Raver, you really are a first class troll. You haunted our page last year and here you are after 2 games criticising Arsenal. Wind your neck in mate, it's a long season and 2 games is nothing. If you're going to troll, at least make it entertaining.

Agree0 Disagree2

20 Aug 2016 20:05:09
Lol AJH,
Well said matey :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 20:13:45
Haha ed025 how silly of me πŸ˜‚.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 19:41:21
Raver once again for you are embarrassing yourself with that statement after 2 games, look what happened last year, why do you do it to yourself? You never learn, you were celebrating with 2 games left last year and now you are celebrating after 2 games gone and only 36 left to play! Only a Spurs fan could do that!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 18:41:59
Watching this is so so boring, we desperately need a striker. Sanchez hasn't got a clue up front.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2016 19:58:37
Sanchez looks lost up front he needs to stay out wide on right were he can drift more in space. He not physical and string enough with is back to goal to play that role. We need a reliable striker but seriously doubt we will get one now.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 22:53:27
Two games on the trot wenger has took sanchez out of the game, with his formation.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 17:45:36
So who said this?

It's very difficult to buy because, if you ask a player of the medium level, they might ask for Β£55 million, " he said, as reported by The Telegraph. "It's very difficult to enter the market with these prices and in this condition. "

"No. I'm not comfortable. I don't like to pay a lot of money. If a player deserves it, then it's right. But for a medium player, it's right to pay the right price, not Β£20 or Β£30 million over. That's not right. We must be patient and wait. We need to sign some players. "

Answers on a post card.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - Ed025? No wait, it was dagala wasn't it?}

Burnley seem to be giving Liverpool a game at the minute.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2016 17:05:43
That Klopp is a clown 70+ percent possession, 26 shots at goal and can't beat Burnley, dodged a bullet there. πŸ˜‰.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 19:50:22
70% possession and not winning, sounds familiar.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 14:36:13
Even with a fully fit squad, Johnny Evans would walk into our first team. 2nd only to Kos. Better that Mert, better than Gab and I would honestly say I would rather see him at LB than Gibbs.

Has captained his country at international level, was a beast at the Euro's. Northern Ireland went as far as England and probably should have put Wales out. Success in France was largely to do with some real lion hearted defending which he was a big part of.

We've been linked before an apparently Fergie didn't want to sell him to us. Look at the comments Pulis made about him recently. Positively glowing. Say what you want about Tony Pulis but he knows defenders, you just have to watch his teams.

At todays market prices, 16m is a snip for such experience and versatility. Played his whole career in English football, won't need to adapt.

I'd be delighted if we signed him. If his name was Jorge Evinho we wouldn't even be having this debate.

LETS SIGN THE EVERTON FLOP FOR 30M YAY! He's the right nationality with a more continental sounding name.

Some of you showing real uneducated snobbery. Makes me question if you even watch football or just play FIFA.

Sylvestre PFFFFFT.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - your emerald eyes are clouding your judgement im afraid ulster, united ditched evans because he was a liabilty and did you see the state of that defence over the last 2 years?...hes garbage mate believe me..

Ed is spot on mate, love your loyalty mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 15:01:19
Welsh gooner has always raved about William for years and Dags is an Elneny fanatic, birds of a feather?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 15:06:17
No mate not clouded. I just follow My countrymen closely. At UTD he was behind Rio and Vidic for a large part. I strongly believe that he could do a far better job than he's getting credit for.

If I had to pick between Him or Hummels or Kompany obviously I'd pick one of the later. But we all know that's not going to happen. At international level he has to do a backs to the wall job for nearly 90 minutes of every game and he does it well.

I believe that's what we need. A no nonsense defender leader and organiser and in todays market, he's as good as 16m will get you.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 15:32:55
Its all about opinion mate, for me Williams is far better and cheaper too.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 16:30:26
Jonny evans is not upto standard for us. he's band average at absolute best.

26 Aug 2016 21:52:07
I think there will be a broad sense of relief if we get these two signings on the books. Good bad or ugly we will have options which is surely better than nothing.

My two bob:

Never seen Perez play in a live match like a lot of people have confessed to. Watching clips of his goals last season though he seems like a proficient finisher which we are definitely lacking. It seemed to me like a lot of his highlight reel was based on the counter attack. One on Ones looked good and inter play moving forward. Fingers crossed this squads made for him to thrive. If nothing else it takes pressure of Theo who seems to struggle under the strain and puts pressure on Giroud who seems to thrive when his spots threatened.

Mustafi imo is the risk. That's a high and totally unjustified fee. He will be under the spotlight to perform well from the get go. How long will it take the media to get on his back after a few below par performances? They seem to take a special pleasure in hounding us. Looked good in la liga? So did Gabriel.

In saying that his experience with the german national team will be of benefit and I'm pretty sure he's played right across their backline so versatility is a bonus.

So it's wait and see. I don't like our transfer policy but while Arsene's in charge let's be behind him, the team and hope by the end of the season he can give the metaphorical fingers to those that over spent on mediocrity.

coyg.

20 Aug 2016 14:29:28
Not sure of any details but is there any reason we didn't move Arteta into our coaching team? Doesn't seem right somehow seeing him on the City bench given the extended years we gave him. He may well turn into a great manager in future. His temperament certainly is right for it and he was obviously an intelligent footballer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2016 14:23:45
Very early days but pressure is really on us later, both Manchester clubs off to a flier

6 out of 6.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2016 16:49:58
I think we need to worry about West ham toots everton and liverpool more than them two.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - I think your right steve..

20 Aug 2016 07:15:20
Arsene using Sanchez as the striker against Leicester as he is the best option, why doesn't he just buy a striker that will score 20+ goals. Lacazette for one.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2016 09:38:51
And one who would replace Olly as our number one striker? I think that's the real problem for Arsene.
Williams would have become first choice to partner Kos making Gabriel and Mertesacker bit part players instead of sharing the role.
Draxler would play week in week out no games for Ox and Theo
And any top striker would also play each week meaning either no Olly or if we played two strikers no Aaron or Elneny or Xhaka and what about Jack?
Arsene struggled with having to leave out Ospina for Cech last season simply because he and his players are so close that work decisions have to often come second to keeping people happy.
I think this is the real reason behind our lack of activity and the spending less of an issue than we have all thought in the past.

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 11:15:48
Gunner - I think you are right. He has to find someone good enough to justify dropping Giroud who is pretty damn good. Squad harmony and competition.
Leicester demonstrated the importance of harmony.
Ties in with - the player has to improve the team

To upgrade Giroud - it's expensive and limited choice due to top strikers being happy at big big clubs and our budget.

Hernandez would do nicely
Williams would have been great
Draxler on the wing for pace and directness
Plus a fullback.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Aug 2016 11:50:00
SY mate he doesn't want to find them, Artetta Rosicky last season Diarby before them Theo 10 yeaes of unrealised potential Mertesacker! None would have been around so long at Spurs Everton Liverpool let alone utd City or Chelsea.
Arsene likes to keep it cosy and unfortunately that doesn't lead to a team with the right attitude or mentality to compete for big prizes.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 13:18:20
G62, you are spot on man! Top managers need to be ruthless in this day and age and have to be willing to drop players if they are playing poorly, or if someone better comes along. The fact that Wenger isn't, and would rather Arsenal be the good mates primary school club where everyone gets a turn and winning or losing doesn't matter as long as you play and try your best shows a complete lack of professionalism from him.
You're bang on about the mentality as well! I think the adage 'Complacency is the enemy of success" applies to our players.
I can the the squad undergoing a massive overhaul when we finally get a new manager in charge.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 14:33:02
We don't necessarily need to replace giroud we need something different up front. And two frigging center halfs. Digging ourselves a hole.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2016 15:35:22
That's why if we do buy we will buy alternative to Olly that won't obviously displace him making him number 2 as Lacazette would.
