Picking up from a good post earlier from Maze what would people prefer, Kronke staying in control but Wenger moving on, or Red and White holdings getting control (Usmanov) bringing in David Dein but resulting in Wenger signing a new 2 year contract?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Feb 2017 23:57:18
Wenger going and kronke staying.

Agree0 Disagree4

21 Feb 2017 02:01:27
Steve if you are upset now, wait until Kronke's record of mediocrity gets fully absorbed into the Arsenal. I am deeply concerned.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 02:29:34
Who mentioned upset, I answered a question. Ideally both gone as I've said before but that wasn't the question. David dein was yesterday and it isn't going to happen anyway. I want to move forward not back anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 02:38:51
Kronke out since he's been the owner are team has gone down hill i'm not saying i want wenger 2 stay but would like 2 see what he would do with different owners. I respect everything he's done n think he deserves better from us as fans.

Agree1 Disagree4

21 Feb 2017 02:46:43
Kronke don't care about arsenal football club he cares about arsenal the money maker n u want him 2 stay! wenger maybe a nightmare but he loves arsenal.

Wenger with DD

DD left 10 years ago, look what's happened in the last 10 years.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 10:03:18
I would like kronke to leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 13:56:37
I cannot understand how anyone would prefer Wenger gone than Kroenke.

Agree2 Disagree2

21 Feb 2017 14:43:13
I was one of the first people to bring to the attention of this site the way kronke works and I got slaughtered by some of you, so I have to chuckle. But whatever we would prefer ( and I would prefer both gone ) kronke will be here longer than wenger, so all irrelevant really anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 16:23:48
If Stan the man left and Arsene stayed what would change?
It isn't lack of money that's preventing us improving so I fail to see how things would improve under Arsene's management. There is and has been money available Arsene hasn't and doesn't want to spend for a few seasons now so I can't see how kronke is the problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 16:53:48
Gunner i'm with you, not a lot really. We know the both of thems strength and weaknesses.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 18:04:57
That's a good point. But isn't it also a possibility arsene is trying to target better players and the board or whoever isn't getting the negotiating done properly. Probably not but I'm sure we don't know the full picture.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 18:19:54
For us to compete we need usmanov to take control, sadly it's about money now.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 18:17:37
Steve,
I just don't get how Stan Kroenke gets all the blame for Arsene's obvious weaknesses, what's he done to prevent us being competitive?
Does he love Arsenal? It doesn't look that way but that doesn't mean he's to blame for our lack of progression.

Does Carl Jenkinson love Arsenal? Yes he's a life long Gooner
Does Alexis Sanchez love Arsenal or football full stop?

If he leaves this summer it looks like football means more to him than Arsenal but that doesn't prevent him giving head and shoulders more effort than any player has in an Arsenal shirt for many a year.

Ty from Arsenal fan TV loves Arsenal with a passion no one can question that but does that qualify him to be Sanchez or Arsenes replacement? No of course it doesn't.

People are confusing passion and sentimentality with ability and a winning mentality, our next manager doesn't need to love Arsenal he just needs to be really good at his job and have real ambition to win top prizes with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 19:23:19
Kroenke is a bad person to have at the club. He's not motivated to win, only to maximise his profits. Look at the clubs he's taken over in America and how poor they've been since his tenure at those teams.

Also for someone with such major sporting connections in America, and particularly the NFL, how is it Tottenham have managed to scoop such a lucrative deal with the NFL?

Usmanov might not be a saint but at least he wouldn't be concerned solely with lining his own pockets.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 19:46:32
If Kronke had said there is no money for transfers then I can see the argument against him but every source both within and outside the club has stated printed and verbally stated Arsene has the money available even Arsene himself has stated " just because we have lots of money available we won't be forced into paying above our own valuation of a player "
What do people want from an owner?
To buy players for Aresene? Pick and Motivate the team for him?
It's not off the field it's going wrong it's on the field we continue to under perform season after season and where our season doesn't last past February.
Kronke may not be the best bloke to own the club but I don't think he's anywhere near a viable scapegoat to replace the naughty naughty stadium excuse to cover Arswnes own inabilities.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 20:40:53
I think people forget, we bought sanchez, ozil and we spent 100 mil this summer. i'm not kronkes greatest fan but wenger has had money to spend. Why didn't we battle more for kante, why didn't we go for laccazette and why didn't we buy draxler. Not sure that was all kronkes fault. The players we got instead were wengers and he sets them up not kronke. Kronke trusts wenger and that's another debate.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 23:14:17
kroenke rarely attends arsenal matches what makes you think he cares about the club?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 22:58:49
I think that's a fair point Steve, Kronke hasn't really done anything to suggest he is any better or worse than most other team owners. However I don't trust him or the board to find a replacement for Arsene. I mean just how does a group of NFL specialists interview a new manager for the club. In that regards I would much rather DD came back into the fold.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2017 01:24:47
Epping, you are mistaken. Kronke is a subpar owner, look at his clubs. Rams, Avalanche, Nuggets etc poor.

I would keep Wenger and add someone to light a 🔥 under his butt.

100 up for walcott, whatever anyone thinks of him for a winger and the games he's played that's pretty good.

Please don't be to critical of tonight. Was a case of doing a professional job yes you might call for an 8-0 thrashing but the boys went there and got it done. Move onto the next game and just keep trying to win and see where we end up.

The ox frustrates me I feel he cares and wants to do well but just doesn't believe in himself at all the natural ability power and skill is there just the maturity and confidence lacks. Perez needs a run of games in the first team for me I feel him and welbeck could add something but hey we've been saying this for weeks .

interesting to hear guardiolas comments about Wenger as a fan it's easy to point the finger but just remember 10-15 years ago there was only 2-3 teams that could win the premier league now its 5 or 6 competition is fierce and every club has grown nothing is the difference now such as sport science scouting networks as all the big clubs are on a level playing field. It is time for Wenger to go but don't think his job is easy?

It's not football manager and he runs our club with class and self respect everyone moans when the big players leave for more money but surely sticking to the principles of not just giving players what they demand is an ethos that should be credited. As a fan I want to win and understand everyone's frustrations but we are a classy dignified club and I will always be proud to be a gooner.

It was a no win situation for us really, as even if we did win 6-0 people would say well it is only Sutton. We showed a good attitude and got the job done. Sutton played well and did not look like a conference side to me, some decent players in that side with some good technique.

In all seriousness it was a good night all round in my opinion, Sutton did excellent while we are through which is job dine, if it was 10 0 even 20 0 what would it have proved to anyone?

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 22:22:34
To be fair you're taking all credit away from Sutton. They did a good job and held their own. If you thought we'd walk over them you've clearly not been paying enough attention to the magic of the FA Cup.

Southampton? Stoke?
I think the fact that he is at Arsenal speaks volumes, I'm not he will ever be a top premier league club player but time will tell on that but currently he looks out of his depth on a regular basis I agree.

Wenger keeps talking about the players not taking the game seriously yet he will play a weakened side . what message does that give . He should at least have Sanchez and Ozil on the bench as a just in case

I really fear a slip up, I went to York City and Wrexham glad I'm not going to Sutton.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Feb 2017 19:45:13
1 5 mate, without taking anything away from Sutton at all the gap between the two sides is huge, having said that I'm sure Burnley fans felt the same Saturday morning.
It's not impossible for Sutton to win as very little is impossible in football but despite our knack of making things difficult for ourselves I can't see us not going through very comfortably, which of course we should, let's see.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 19:03:30
Yep, just about to have a 12 day break as well. Classic wenger logic.

Know one even knew, spuds played yesterday.
This is football at its best.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Feb 2017 11:50:00
Given the cup draw yesterday I think Wenger and the team really need to this match v Sutton seriously. Home tie v Lincoln would be very winable, one of Chelsea/ United will be going out and City have a tough away tie v Boro. Not only this but losing tonight (or even a draw tbh) would be a massive embarrassment. No disrespect at all to Sutton United, but given the weeks we've had since losing to Watford, Chelsea and Bayern we need this win as an FA Cup trophy could be the thing that shows Ozil, Sanchez etc that we are competitive and can still win trophies. I know a lot of you will disagree but given how strong our league opposition are this season and our poor form since the new year, finishing either 3rd/ 4th and winning the FA Cup would make it a successful season in my eyes. Obviously given our form in early December before the Everton game i'd of wanted more but we have to be realistic.

In terms of team selection i'd go with a blend of youth and experienced squad players. Its not necessarily about playing our first team to ensure a win, but making sure we are well prepared and going into the game with the right mentality, not treating it like a friendly or like we're only just playing a non-league team.

Id go with:

Ospina
Jenksinon - Mertesacker - Holding - Gibbs
Maitland Niles - Elneney
Walcott - Renaine Adelaide - Lucas
Giroud.

Subs: Martinez, Debuchy, Gabriel, Xhaka, Ox, Iwobi, Wilcock

Score prediction i think 3-1 to us. If Lucas starts he'll get a brace.

(Banter please Ed, thanks)

Believable1 Unbelievable3

20 Feb 2017 13:13:54
Pretty sure you can forget about Lucas starting as he's most likely still injured. Pity - I'd have loved to see him seize the opportunity and don't doubt that he would have.

Agree with most of what you're saying otherwise. We have the depth for rotation in the cup but need to lay down more of a marker.

Also couldn't help but notice you comment on the strength of rivals still in the cup and neglect to mention Spurs. Nice!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 14:22:10
For me DG you aren't taking it seriously. Defence and midfield look very beatable for various reasons. i'd go with a lot stronget team than that, you are setting us up for defeat with that team. The one thing none league teams usually lack is pace at the back and usually they can mix it physically. For me a lot stronger team than that is required.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 14:29:14
If we field that side we are OUT.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 14:30:17
DG
I think he wants to win every game.
For me I hope he plays a strong side, gets the win and move onto the next game.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 16:02:47
We don't play for 12 days, no excuses not to play a strong side.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 16:03:34
And arguably he can rest players in that game, its gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 16:05:27
That side should beat them but the word should is hardly convincing.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 14:55:08
With some time before our next match, I wouldn't take any chances and put out whatever Wenger considers to be the strongest side that play well on artificial pitches. I have a feeling he may play Mertesacker to bring a respected and experienced player back. However, I am not sure that is a great idea on the artificial pitch!

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 17:17:05
We should play our strongest but at the same time I'd like to see some underperforming players dropped and others given a chance to push on for first team football.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 19:39:18
Also he puts a B team out and we loose he gets crucified and if we put a good team out and someone gets injured then he gets crucified.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 09:02:24
Aloha lads. I just thought I'd drop past to get some insight from proper Arsenal fans as to your feelings regarding the club at the moment.

I know a lot of frustrations are with Wenger at the moment but my main question is on the curious case of Alisher Usmanov. Never in my life have I read about a man who wants to throw money at his passion but just cannot get past the final locked door.

What I am asking is do you believe that if Usmanov got control of the club he would restore the glory days? And more importantly does it worry you that if Stan the money man keeps Usmanov at arms length long enough one of the richest Arsenal fans in the world will move into other ventures (his links to Everton are getting more interesting by the week) ?

I'd like to hear from the eds on this one as well. I hate seeing great clubs in decline especially when they have the resources that Arsenal have.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure they are in decline, there is money to spend, they have a strong brand, there is little Usmanov can do to really improve on the club's standing. Throwing money at it isn't the answer, as the manager is keeping a rein on spending anyway. There is more money than he is using, would Usmanov make him spend it?}

20 Feb 2017 09:17:24
Ed I think that is my point regarding Usmanov. I believe he would make the club spend the cash as he wants glory not just increased revenues. How many sugar daddy's actually support the clubs they own these days? It's a rare situation at Arsenal for sure.

As for being in decline I feel that the fact they are now a very lengthy spell into not being a challenger for the title means they are not the club they were in my opinion. If they do not get CL football this season that will slipping down another rung.

Ed if you were an Arsenal fan who would you choose to take over if Wenger called it quits at the end of the season. I reckon they should push for Jorge Sampaoli.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the only way to make the club spend cash would involve pushing Wenger out the door.

For me Sampaoli has a few issues, but he does seem the best available candidate right now.}

20 Feb 2017 09:51:11
Ed what issues does Sampaoli have for you?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the way he left Chile was a bit distasteful mate.}

20 Feb 2017 11:55:47
Usmanov has not stated that he wants to inject his own funds into the club. What he actually suggested doing some time ago was issuing a rights issue for £100m to buy players. In effect fans would have lent the club money for a period of time, without any interest element. Very few super wealthy individuals actually inject their own funds into the club. Abramovich is one, but he wanted the club to run profitably and it may do so nowadays. At Man City they inject funds, but the Glazers at United dont. I have no complaints in respect of Kronke, who hasn't interfered with the way Arsene Wenger has run the club. If he wanted spend club funds on big money purchases, such as Sanchez, Ozil and Xhaka it has been allowed. He has taken very little money out of the club, just a couple of million or so in respect of marketing, which I believed he stopped taking. If Usmanov took control, brought David Dein back on board and injected his own funds, I wouldn't object, but this is highly unlikely.

Agree5 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 11:56:27
If Wenger departs and he is available Ancelloti would be my choice.

Agree4 Disagree2

20 Feb 2017 13:08:58
With that in mind would sampoli help or hinder the Sanchez situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 19:17:27
With the Barcelona job seemingly available this summer we might miss out on Sampaoli. Reassuring that Ed thinks he's a viable/ available candidate.

Whilst David Dein was in charge Wenger seemed far more ruthless and maybe that was to do with that fact he had a strong character backing him/ encouraging him to constantly improve the squad. Maybe Usmanov can be that man.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Feb 2017 07:18:36
This is really worrying when you think about it.
A lot of Arsenal supporters and quite a few on here too, seem to be a bit shaky about tonight's game against Sutton United!
Sutton United!
I wonder if Barcelona, PSG, Bayern Munich
etc. would be losing sleep over a draw like that.
Sorry but this is not a joke post but it does reflect on how low our confidence has gone.
It's unbelievable really.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

20 Feb 2017 07:28:39
Ed Sorry meant to ask you right or wrong that post mate.
What do you think.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you can't compare Barca etc, their leagues are completely different and only a very small number of teams truly have the capacity to get at them. Once you drop outside the top flight in those countries, you are immediately into leagues that are very much equivalent to the English Conference (or whatever it is called these days) in terms of finances. Their cup competitions do not have the tradition or culture of the FA Cup, so the teams also do not have the same fan backing, which really does make a difference. Playing in a white hot atmosphere in a small ground against a team inspired by that atmosphere is completely different from facing a smaller team in a stadium where most of the fans have come along to watch their opponent.

The reason why English football is so popular worldwide is because anyone can beat anyone else. It is because every team actually has belief they have a chance that the shock results can happen. That is not because Arsenal are low, but because it is the FA Cup and anything can, and often does, happen.}

20 Feb 2017 07:49:53
Well let's hope you got the last bit wrong for tonight mate.
We wouldn't live that down EVER!
Mind you on the quirky side it would make me laugh for years to come 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - at least you have the pitch as a ready made excuse.....}

Ed001,
That is a spot on summary of what the FA Cup is all about.

Respect.

Ps, am I worried?
Yes, for all the aforementioned reasons.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 11:57:28
The sole worry is that the match is played on a synthetic surface that Sutton are used to. On grass they wouldn't stand a chance.

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 12:57:47
If anyone uses that as an excuse they want sacking. If anything the pitch should suit the technical player one touch pass and move. It should in fact suit arsenals size. Far better than some of the pitches in lower leagues.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 13:28:53
Sanogo mate.
Absolutely! I can't be listening to any excuses of the pitch didn't suit us.
It shouldn't matter whether we played them in a school playground with 9 men. This could be the most embarrassing result of all time if we lose.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 15:57:27
A lot of top eastern European teams have this type of pitch and European games are played on it. No one has complained about them infact usually the opposite, they aren't astro turf, they are far superior. If anything arsenal players should cope better because they are technically better. No excuses.

20 Feb 2017 06:16:19
Interesting match tonight as it is played on an artificial surface, which should be banned in my opinion. Back in the day I played on Luton's artificial pitch and it was a horrendous experience. Later I played in a League played on artificial pitches and got used to it. The ball comes quicker off the surface and sliding challenges were suicidal! The team selection will be interesting as we don't have a match afterwards for 12 days. I would put out our stringent team and include players that play well on artificial surfaces. I pray we win and Lincoln at home is a great draw. The semi's could involve 3 top teams plus the Toot!

Believable7 Unbelievable0

20 Feb 2017 10:48:04
You want to hope to avoid us R. G. as you'll be out of your depth against us, its also nice to see you back after you failed to show up after Arsenal getting knocked out of the champions league again last week.

Agree1 Disagree4

20 Feb 2017 12:11:14
If the semi-finalists are Man C, Chelsea or Man U and the Toot, I would choose the Toot to play any day. During Wenger's time at Arsenal you have beaten us in the PL once at The Emirates and that was 7 years ago! In the same period, over 20 years (longer than you have been alive) , you have only managed 5 home PL wins against us. Do I fear the Toot, not at all. Can you please tell me who you were drawn against in the last 16 of this season's Champions League. As you always fail to answer my challenges, the answer is you were knocked out in the group stage. You even managed to lose to Gent, who rested players and are 8th out of 16 teams in the 'mighty' Belgian first division. You are having such an amazing season while we are not, yet we have gone further than you in the CL and the league cup and are level on points in the PL. For the record I do expect you will beat Gent on bingo Thursdays. As you know the pain at the lane just goes on. 1961 and waiting.

20 Feb 2017 13:50:24
R. G. I think you'll find pochetinho has never lost, a league game against Wenger since he's been at spurs.

Agree0 Disagree4

20 Feb 2017 14:57:25
and he has never won a trophy as a manager and he has never finished above Arsenal in the League. Shall I continue or is the numbers 1961 enough?

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Feb 2017 17:56:48
Give him a chance R. G. he's only been at the club 3 years and has got us fighting for the league in 2 of them, your manager on the other hand has past his sell by date and has been found out. Also your big players are quitting in the summer while at spurs all our top players have signed new contracts while building the biggest ground in London. You go on about 61 lol your club has been embarrassment for English football in Europe forever as you will never take over spurs European record deluded R. G.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Feb 2017 18:56:29
A couple of UEFA cups hardly constitutes major European success. Your CL record is pitiful, at least we reached a final. It's amusing that our failure of a manager finished above your trophyless manager every season. We may lose a top player or two this summer, so may you and don't count out Barcelona coming in for the trophyless manager, who is ideally suited to the Toot, a perpetual loser. Wa he born in 1961?
