Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

Dags I've said many times on here Wilshere is just not good enough at this time. Make no mistake he is the darling child of arsenal FC and we all want that aggressive will power he has emulate into excellence in the field but it just hasn't happen so far. No matter what the cause he just isn't good enough to star for us when all others are fit. I do t know how anyone can disagree with this. We play better with our other mids. He's not as strong as le coq or most decent dmf. He's not as good in the dribble as Cazorla , Ozil , Ramsey and he is slower than ox Sanchez and Walcott. So where does he fit as a starter?? I don't think he does

Thoughts??

JK,

Totally agree. When he gets injured, I know we can cover him, with as good as, if not, better players.

Love his spirit, his commitment and his character but, do we miss him?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jan 2015 06:44:10
You can't compare his pace against wingers, and I'd say his dribbling is every bit as good as Ramsey, it's just Ramsey offers more defensively.
Dmf Coquelin is the best choice, he's more disciplined because that's the roll he wants to play.
Wilshere was one of our best performer's before he got injured, but I don't think he will walk back into the team, he's got to earn his place again.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's brst as a number 10 where he can use his quick turn and impressive acceleration to beat men, and get in those tight spaces that he thrives in e.g. Goal against Norwich last season

Agree0 Disagree0

His technique is amazing in my view. I'm not arguing that we don't have other midfielders who may be more effective than him right now but he is an excellent dribbler with a lethargic style which is why he is so prone to being fouled. Only Cazorla that I can think of who may be able to rival his dribbling.

He doesn't score enough goals but the ones he does score are technically brilliant (Norwich obviously and remember the dink finish against Manchester city, after a good bit of dribbling?) Also, his long ball which set up Ox's goal for England (against Scotland I think?) was immense!

I know patience is running out but there is no question that he can bring something to the team, the question is will he on a consistent basis?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 21:55:21
I'm not anti Jack or anti Ozil, far from it.

But, Jack still has a lot to prove, mainly because of injury.
I'm not questioning his commitment or desire, but if he's not on the pitch he can't show it.

Ozil is a slightly different story.
Feel sorry for the guy, played woefully out of position, but its his commitment and desire I question.
Prem League is not La Liga.

So, would you accept £65m for the pair?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - £65m???? your having a giraffe dags...jack is worth £15m and ozil around £20m..dont ask me to play monopoly with you mate.. :)

20 Jan 2015 22:10:14
Blimey Ed,
I would never try to sell you a car.
I would be minus a car and 3 grand out of pocket, lol.

So, you are telling me Mr Lukaku is worth almost as much as Ozil and Wilshere combined?

What are you smoking at Ed Towers? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we overpaid just like you dags, looks like we both got ripped off and bought a lemon..

20 Jan 2015 22:15:27
I think I might have to agree with you on that one mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

So when I said sell wilshere a couple of months ago U all wanted my blood hahahhaha now Uve changed your mind he

Agree0 Disagree0

What have I missed? Are hot dog sales down on match day or something!
Why are we selling everyone all of a sudden, Jenks Jack Mesut let's hope the half time Bovril continues to go well or its bye bye Sanchez

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 23:04:33
Lol Jelfy.

Not selling G62, just guaging peoples reaction on our fav talking point, Mr Wilshere.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair Dags before that taclke Jack was performing well and its hard to name 3 players who were playing better at that time plus he seems to be having off the pitch this season too.
Mesut looks like an ex Arsenal player in waiting to me, no way can he replace Carzola and him sitting on the bench no good to us or him, hope things change and he stays but can't see it at the moment

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't take 65 for those two, same as I'd probably sign lukaku for 25mil, the three of them have the potential to be world class

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jan 2015 10:00:20
Just for argument sake, say arsenal received a bid for jack and they deemed it acceptable, is it then down to jack if he leaves? because if you didn't want to leave you'd make your personal terms obscene wouldn't you? I personally would hate jack to leave, he's my favourite player in an arsenal shirt, I love all the other guys, balled my eyes out when bendtner left ;-) but in all seriousness jack puts his body on the line every game for us because he loves arsenal, there aren't many truly loyal players in football anymore.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, looks like youve been offered a Lennon as well as a Lemon, would that leave a sour taste in your mouth?

I think Lennon would be a great signing for everton, suppling Lukaku especially.

Why am I taking notice of Everton FFS, have you hypnotised us?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - come over to the dark side 337...you know you want to..

They can be my second team, but my blood is red through and through ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - so is mine now.. :)

Come to the dark side? Ed, do I not remember you saying you were basically an Arsenal fan now? ;P

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im having a mid life crisis over this TPG, i was tossing up between arsenal and spurs, but i dont think i am boring enough to support spurs...so im really an arsetonian mate..

Wash your mouth out with soap ed for even thinking that for one second!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a block of carbolic is winging its way to my gob as we speak 337..

Haha Arsetonian I like that! It does sound like it should be a club in Brighton though.

You considered spurs? You weren't joking about having a mid-life crisis. I hope you're feeling better now ED.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i am mate, my bird has hidden all the sharp instruments, and taken my shoe laces out..

20 Jan 2015 19:40:37
So West Ham want £8m for Reid and we want £12m for Jenks both inflated prices so Reid plus 2 Million from West Ham seems fair this should be quite straightforward. Jenks is easily worth £7m - £8m and with Reid's contract situation make sense.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2015 21:06:25
Really don't think we should sell Jenks. He should be second choice RB next year, rotating with Debuchy. We owe him that much. Also gives us a chance to loan Bellerin out and help him develope. Chamber is not a RB, he is much better at Cb and maybe Cdm if we gave him a chance there.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 21:46:30
I would (reluctantly) use Jenks as a bartering chip to get Reid.

Bellerin on loan?
Nah keep him, he will get enough game time with us through rotation, loss of form, injury and suspension to Debuchy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd Give jenks a run next year. Promise westham bellerin on loan nxt year

Agree0 Disagree0

Haven't The club got 8 million?
If not that's a worry and if yes then why don't we just pay the money get the player we NEED DESPERATELY at this time and bring Jenks home in the summer.
Why are so many of our fans accountants constantly trying to penny pinch and save money the club can well a afford to invest.
Its 8 million not world record 80 million for a defender

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 22:12:43
Agree G62,

Look at Man City, just paid £30m for a player who could win them the league (Bony), and we won't pay a measly £8m for a player we desperately need?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree dags that's the difference, last january when we were leading the league with only giroud as our main striker going into the second half of the season think how different things could of been if we had bought another striker (bony had a buy out clause of 19mil at the time) where as this year city have aguero, dzeko and jovetic yet still buy bony because an upgrade rather than sticking with what you have might be the difference

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jan 2015 21:41:28
Totally agree Eden.

Good point.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 18:22:32
Martinez is 14/1 to be the next manager sacked Rogers 33/1 and Koeman 28/1, how is Koeman shorter odds than Rogers? Come to think of it how is Koeman shorter odds than anyone

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The only way I could think of that making sence would be if its including next manager to leave their job (if he got a better offer) rather than being sacked

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 18:16:20
So with the re-emergence of Santi aka "Beast" Cazorla, what do people think our best team is now? I'm slightly worried that Ozil is going to have to play as a winger again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2015 19:07:00
Macc I said the other day I can't see either being used on the wing.

If you have Sanchez left, Walcott right and Giroud down the middle then Welbeck would be cover across all three positions, then there's Gnabry, Chamberlain and Campbell offering more cover up front. Walcott will need to up his work rate to get the starting spot.

Midfield now for me will consist of Ramsey, Cazorla and Coquelin, so Ozil can only rotate with Cazorla for me unless he does what Arsenal did on Sunday, shocks the life out of us with an unbelievable, all action, dynamic display.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 19:14:45
Imo it depends on the game. If it's a game that requires a tight, compact shape, where work rate and team work have to be high and maintained throughout 90 mins, and to nick goals on the counter, that 4-1-4-1 will do us no harm. The problem for Ozil is he isn't a CM he's a CAM or no.10 and in the 4-1-4-1 he won't fit in. And even then if you did accommodate him by putting him out wide, he lacks the work rate, team work, discipline etc.(everything demonstrated at man City) required by ALL 11 players whilst OUT of possession. On the other hand, in a game were expected to win and dominate, where we are favourites, where that tight compactness changes to a fluid, controlling, attacking system, Imo the 4-5-1 suits him perfectly. As him a number 10, santi or rambo deep lying, next to let coq or whichever beast we have been crying out for god knows how long as our dm, centrally, in an attacking sense is pretty strong. All that said, for me, atm, he wouldn't get into the latter, Santi can do no wrong. Hopefully this situation brings the best out of Mesut.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 21:48:20
I would go with Red Dog's team but would definitely find a place for The Ox.

Agree0 Disagree0

The welbeck signing does make me LOL. Came to play uptop. Ends up as a squad player like at manu.

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck was signed as cover for Giroud, he has been injured or he would get more games, I like him Derby

Agree0 Disagree0

In my view when you have giroud your next striker needs to be better. because in my view both are second rate. before we had rvp world class predator.

although that case was dropped.

Agree0 Disagree0

I kind of agree Derby, but our strikers do a different job, they hold play rather than just shooting, this is due to our midfield being so potent. I see that Giroud and Welbeck do this job really well and both can score too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rvp hold up play was excelllent too

end of the day offer me 30plus goals or a player that will chip in a few and hold the ball up well.

goals all day. goals win games

giroud would of been henrys bag barrier back then and boot cleaner

costa does both too miles better than our lads.

mansukic looking back now 15mill would of been a great signing

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 17:36:28
Theo thinks the current attack is better than the invincibles. Not a chance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - no way pedro..

Not a chance Lance

Agree0 Disagree0

Not in a million years, sorry theo, you obviously haven't really took the time to look at who was in that strike force. I think when you win something andcwin something again and again with this strike force, we might take notice, now go and practice.

Agree0 Disagree0

Giroud or Henri, get a life, santi or bergy, sorry santi, not even close (or ozil). sancez or pirez, now i'm torn, theo, ox or Freddie, theo and ox, you need to step it up lads.

Agree0 Disagree0

No attack is better than the invicibles. (Inb4 everyone says Real Madrid')

Agree0 Disagree0

Pires and Freddie were ten times the players sanchez, Chambo and walcott are. Don't even have to say anything about henry bergkamp vs giroud and ozil

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 16:19:31
Is it me or does le coq look smaller in the cold?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2015 16:53:34
still got a better squad than you lol, only sancehz would get in. erikksen lloris kane etc would walk into your team. you need a new keeper as scezney is in the big brother house aka perez hilton LOL

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 18:01:36
Classic fail, reply to the wrong post. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Too much raving mate, just say no!

You are talking total waffle

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 18:07:29
You honestly think Erikesn would get in ahead of Ozil or Cazorla? Or Kane is better than Giroud?

I'll give you Lloris as he is a class keeper and way better than anything we have, but the rest of your squad is average.

Agree0 Disagree0

Btw raver, who's etc? You've named your only three players worth having there are 11 in a team and about 25 in your squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 20:03:44
And you all missed Saint's very funny joke lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 21:19:51
Behave ya self Dags, no one could have missed that cracker!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 21:49:40
Lol Red :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I do like Erikson. He was a bargain

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good player DG..

20 Jan 2015 22:13:52
Prefer his brother, Sony.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thanks for chering..

20 Jan 2015 23:06:51
That was terrible Ed lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Loris yes, erikson wouldn't get near and neither would Kane, I'd take Pauli. A, no i'm to much sometimes

Agree0 Disagree0

One of the worst jokes ever by dags there. and there's a lot to beat. but he has.

dark day for this page

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he has been attending the john bishop school of comedy DG,..

20 Jan 2015 14:52:15
Seems Spurs players are not wanted elsewhere how funny.

Soldado was linked with a move to Germany and here is a quote:

“We talked to the managing director of Bayer Leverkusen and he says he doesn’t want his club to be linked with this player."

Made me chuckle :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2015 12:42:36
Why does everyone think we have to play chelsea away from home, and that we are going to loose is a given, and I also people mentioned spurs I mean seriously.

if anything those are the 2 games I see us winning, barring no injuries, and we carry on our current form, the one to look is utd away, and I am a bit positive of us nicking that one if they continue to play 3 at the back, and we are not wasteful

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The first paragraph has lost me lol

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 12:26:35
You know you are struggling when even Sylvester Stallone can't save you

Isn't that right Ed025? 😊

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2015 11:41:49
Apparently Winston Reid has told WH that he wants to join us if we bid.

If reports are true that we are interested in a pretty much unknown CD for £15m I don't understand why we don't just get him, they want £8m will probably take £5m and he is a proven prem player.

Come on AW pay the money!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Surely if West Ham wish to sign Jenkinson on a permanent basis, Reid would provide some sort of swop deal.
I can't see us taking Jenkinson back, as we have the superb Debuchy, fast improving Bellerin and Chambers, who can all play at right back.
Unless of course we are not interested in signing Reid or the clubs are too far apart on the financial figures.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reid is rubbish you don't want him

Agree0 Disagree0

The only thing I can see is that maybe he will come for free in the summer it may be that his agent is telling him he will benefit financially.

It's a no brainer for me even at £8m, we need a CD and he is proven, we are being linked with unproven players for 10-15m

Ed02, if you would be kind enough to grace us with your knowledge, do you think it is still possible? It seems to have gone quiet there since a week ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would think if a bid arrives from a club he is attracted to (e.g. Arsenal) then Reid will go. He can negotiate with non-EPL sides now and sign a pre-contract if he finds something suitable - that means walking in the summer with him getting a fatter signing on fee and WHU getting zip. Alternatively he could take his chances and wait until the summer and see what is available.}

He can't be too bad, he's kept you lot out of the bottom three!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 03:25:50
A bit off topic, but i'd like to have an app that allows me to do permutations on the league table, you know, like if we win these and they lose these, we'll win the league kinda stuff. Is there such an app you guys using. Doing manually takes kinda long. If there's such a thing, please let me know.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2015 06:33:56
http://www.thefishy.co.uk/calculator0.php?Competition=1

something along those lines?

Agree0 Disagree0

If we win all our remaining 16 games were guaranteed 4th place, but to finish above Southampton we need other teams to do us Favour's

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 08:00:54
If we win our last 16 games we would be on 87 points in most years that would win you the league. Usually about 70 odd for 4th

Agree0 Disagree0

Yess! Like this. Thanks PdotY.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 08:32:34
Treble,

I'm old school mate, try pen and paper lol :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Win all our last 16 games we will take 3rd I reckon. but no team is winning the last 16 games in this league

Agree0 Disagree0

Forgetting any calculator and Dags crayons I think we will win 10-12 of our last games, and Southampton will struggle with their injurys, I don't see utd winning as many so my maths tells me we will get third!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 16:33:11
16 games is a hell of a long way to go, we certainly won't win all of them. To be honest the top teams will struggle to get 12.

No point trying to work it all out yet. Around 10 games to go we'll have a better idea. But out next 7 games in all competitions are very winable.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 02:46:46
I think the win against Man City was important for the fact that the players feel that hoodoo has been broken that seems to have been around for a few years since we lost to Man United a few years ago.

I think that was affecting us a lot going into the big game, we use to go in all nervous and we would throw the game away fairly early on.

If the players have that belief now that we can beat anyone it will only be a positive from here for the rest of the season as we can play on the counter or try and play a possession game.

It goes to show that what's more important than specific players is having the team all put in a shift for the 90 minutes.

Bring on the rest of the season!

does anyone else think Ospina should start the next 5 games? he seems more in tune with the whole squad, Szczesny isn't on the right wavelength
could be Kos and Mert being back to better but not quite best

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think I might just want him in for the Oooooospina literally every time he kicks or throws

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Ospina should be given the next few league games. Been looking sharp in my opinion.

I'm also digging the oooooospina thing very much!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2015 00:04:29
Would be happy with Le Coq and Ramsey for rest of the season. Ramsey playing more expansively at home and against the lesser teams. Just hope tactics not a one off. By the way this Paulista looks a real athletic defender / DM . Arsene has been incredibly frustrating but am for the foreseeable in the Wenger Stay camp - always have been but he doesn`t make it easy sometimes!! COYG

Last season we conceded 5 at Anfield, 6 at Etihad and 6 at The Bridge.

Thats 17.

I posted at start of season, that we will not conceed more than 5 (in total) in the same corresponding fixtures (Bambam might remember), if we did, I would give £50 to charity.

We have conceded 4.
Phew, so I'm £50 in pocket :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - over to you bambam..

That's a big improvement no question and is to be built apon, but we mustn't let this stat paper over the cracks of where our season has been less successful that last season.
The city performance and result need to be a beginning not job done.
