If you have or haven't seen it, try get a close look, the touch by lacca for the goal is worthy of a bergy oscar for control, absolute class.

I think Lacasette has been class all season mate, he's well under used under rated talent and has been since he arrived.
Just my personal view but I think 9/10 managers would start Lacasette every week but far fewer would start Xhaka without fail. Obviously in both Dick and Arsene we have the 1 in 10 when it comes to both Lacasette and Xhaka.

Superb finish by Lacazette.
Xhaka continues to confuse, He played well v Chelsea, as did the entire team. Throughout his career he has been a regular first team selection from a young age. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when Emery became our manager, as I thought he might improve with better coaching, yet I am still not convinced.

As I've said before when we win it's not really an issue whether Xhaka plays and Lacasette starts on the bench but when we lose its pretty frustrating as I don't feel like we have given ourselves the best chance.
In my opinion Lacasette is our player of the season so far, he plays well for the team whether he scores or not but obviously his goal scoring is a huge asset to have.

It may have been a tactic but i thought the midfield of torrira and Gouendouzi were the only two who played the pressing game. I still wondered on saturday what xhaka did except float about. It was probably his best ever game in an Arsenal shirt but it has taken two years and for me was a highest ever 7 out of 10 at best. Like gunner said if he performs like that and we lose, its a 5 or a 6 out of 10. I think being kind, the prem is to fast and too physical for his game.

Hope we play like that every game then we will have no worries if we lose playing like that at least we would of played well.

Totally agree Steven no complaints if we play like that and lose, well maybe about why Xhaka? ;-)
That's what we want to be a normal regular Arsenal performance and if that's top 4 brilliant if not what can we do about it, if your the best you can possibly be then no one can ask or be more.

20 Jan 2019 17:59:09
That is true that is all I want them to play that way all the time and if not in the top 4 at least we done our best I'd give niles a game in that position instead of xhaka. But I think we me see xhaka gone next season.

45 points left to play for Stephen and I reckon we would need 34 points from those 45 to clinch top 4 but most importantly I'd like to see us not conceed more than 8 goals and where ever than leaves us I'd be happy because our problems have been defence defence defence for years and I think nothing much will change until we sort it out once and for all.
All our good periods have been built on a solid foundation of being very strong at the back.

Yeah I'm hoping in the summer defenders come In and wi gers rest of the team seem fine maybe sell xhaka and replace him but I think ozil will be off.

Admittedly I only watched the highlights but you boys looked good yesterday, I’m looking forward to the cup game. It looks like we both have options going forward but are potentially dodgy at the back so we might get a high scoring game. I also think it’s between the two of us for 4th, or 3rd if Spurs implode without a striker for 6 weeks. Sarri’s comments about his team were Mourinhoesque so I see Chelsea sliding away.

It’s a shame we’re fighting over 4th and not 1st but give it time. How are you all feeling about next Friday night?

Should be a gloves off no hold bars cup game. Winning an FA cup won't help either team much as far a going forward is concerned but it should be blood and thunder.

Some of my favourite and worst games are cup games with Arsenal, the semi finals of ‘83 and ‘99 were great, although I can’t watch the ‘79 Final wthout feeling physically sick, even after all this time.

The cup game is a fan pleaser not a season maker as LVG discovered.
Both clubs need to be challenging for titles to call a season a successful one by their standards, obviously that's the long term target with the immediate target being 4th place and champions league football.
I think if Ole gets 4th he gets a contract while for Dick 4th isn't a necessity this season where only clear and obvious progress is really expected from him.

I love the fa cup and hope we win it. It is a great trophy for me and would be a success if we win this as it is a trophy.

In the modern game it's no longer enough for managers of City United Liverpool to deliver and have a guaranteed job at the end of it.
The game has changed and for big clubs success is decided in the league and champions league where the domestic cups are merely stocking fillers.
If you enjoy it Stephen then that's all the matters mate, for me i enjoy all big games against other big clubs with the league and champions league games being the most interesting followed by fa cup and Europa league games then the league cup which is neither here or their really, I'm not sure to many people would miss the league cup If it stopped.

I think we all enjoy the fa cup but the truth is, it is just a football jolly. The real test and money for the bigger clubs is the league, then champs league and the europa league. The prize for them and the kudos is on another level.

AJH I wouldn't write Chelsea off especially if they sign Higguain, he could easily be the piece that makes everything else come together for them.

Nah, the Manager is losing the squad at Chelsea, I think they’re in trouble. Maybe it’s because I’m an old bugger but I love the FA Cup. I accept that many don’t care any more but for me it remains a major trophy: we had the best record until you overtook us but I love it. The best game I ever went to was the semi in ‘83, I was 18 and it still feels like the best atmosphere ever. Looking forward to Friday.

I was 21 mate :-) . THE STEVE FOSTER FINAL:-)
Beauty in in the eye of the beholder and if people still value the fa cup then of course it's still valuable but the premier leagues huge sums of money means Teams at the top rest players in order to either win the title or make top 4 while teams at the bottom play weaker teams in order to try and stay out of the bottom 3 and even championship sides field weak teams in pursuit of premier league riches.
For lots of fans and lots of players the fa is still a big thing but for clubs it's the fizzy drink rather than the starter main or desert.

It's a shame but 4th place is so much more important than winning the fa cup.
Find a way to get all clubs from all divisions to value the fa cup again and you bring back the magic.

Bearing in mind the injury crisis that is mainly effecting our defence at the moment, I think it may be worth getting Chambers back from Fulham. Don’t know if it’s possible, put I believe that Premier League clubs are only allowed two loans from other premier league clubs, Fulham currently have Chambers and Fosu Mensah and are trying to get Cahill on loan.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - didn't they already send Fosu Mensah back?}

20 Jan 2019 14:36:30
I think we’re still arguing about it. Our next big thing hasn’t done too well on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that's because he is not a defender but they insisted on playing him there.}

The commentators were at their moronic best, one came out with the gem emery is the only arsenal manager not named arsene wenger to beat Chelsea at the Emirates, amazing none of the others managed.

I too had to laugh at the comment that Emery was the only manager, along with Wenger to have beaten Chelsea since Graham 26 years ago. WEnger was there for 22 years and Emery the best part of a year! The BT commentators are dreadful, McMannamam=n and Owen in particular are useless.
