Question gunners:

Balotelli now, who is 23 or

Campbell in 2 years, who will be 23

I know you can't see in the future, and I wouldn't put it past wenger asking this exact question during the summer window.

Its what I have for breakfast every day NE, I couldn't start the day without one mate :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Obviously this was meant to be part of the thread below but some how I? I still amaze myself sometimes but not in a good way.
Last Friday night I text my wife my work weekly total and my boss a text meant for my missus, embarrassing but at least he wasn't wearing the red underwear I'd asked for when I went in on Monday morning

Agree0 Disagree0

A kebab at 7 is rough! Chips, cheese and garlic sauce with it I hope though?

Agree0 Disagree0

No mate just meat and lashes and lashes of Chli sauce, I couldn't face chips first thing NE

Forget Balotelli. Benzema and Giroud can be lethal together!

Pay whatever it takes Arsene.

Get Remy too.

A predictive poem for out Jenny
On opening day within 40 minutes we shall have Palace in trouble all with the thanks of an Olly G double.
And then with just 15 to go Arsene shall put our new striker clearly on show.
Mario will on his debut double our score a 4 0 win who could ask for more.
This shall be the beginning of a stunning season and Dags will never again mention that other blokes name for some reason.
From the queen Balotelli will receive on his cheek a peck as she says well we're all Gooners so what the heck

20 Jun 2014 20:19:31
After a disappointing transfer window,
that leaves us fans feeling low.
We play pulis's South London boys.
if only they were managed by Moyes.

With a injury list as long as your arm,
and the fear of a defeat by palace.
Wilshere last's ten minutes,
due to a ill timed challenge to his phallus.

We lose the first game of the season,
The boos cry out yet again,
Why didn't he buy in the summer?
Why did we let go of the Dane?

So he panic buys and brings in a player,
Who could it possibly be,
Dagenhams over the moon,
Turns out to be f***in Remy!

Flybo
P.S Giroud just scored a good header :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheer up Flybo, I felt so down after Cesc joined them I was going to take 100 paracetamol, but I took two and started feeling better

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats far better than any of dags jokes G62, you are now officially the funniest gooner mate..

I nearly choked on my kebab when I read your reply Ed, so funny.
Some say he takes no prisoners and that's he once cut down the entire Sahara forest with one sentence, all we know is you don't mess with Ed002 and come out in one piece

Agree0 Disagree0

A kebab at 7 o'clock? You're nuts, G62

Ed, not a clear enough answer

May I apologise on behalf of all true goners for idiots like this one. Keep up the good work ed002 and all other eds!

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally uncalled for and well dealt with by the board ;=))

Although not sure any of us could get by with using the w****r function like ed 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you cant rooster mate..

Jesus, Dags

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that was one of his better ones NEG..

I think Gunnerbe has a point. Most of the time I think that the users and the eds on this side are equally in the dark over transfers. (Everybody knows arsenal is out for a striker nobody knows who)

The ed's are like Jon Snow, lots of swagger but they know nothing ;)

(and btw for someone who talks a lot about all the abuse he is getting, ed002 isn't that polite himself)

Still enjoying the site though.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the thing is aros, most eds are just purveyors of the information passed on by other posters, whereas some, especially ED02, is constantly in contact with players, agents, etc and passes on info to us not so connected eds and members of the site, he does this for free, as do all the eds, so why you would expect a guy like him to put up with abuse when he is forever helping and informing sites of the latest info is beyond me mate, if he was not around this site would not be be what it is, and imo that entitles him to a bit of respect..

Agreed Ed 025 in response to Aros, Ed 2 and Dags are the ying and yang of this site - wouldn't be the same without them!

So can Los Ticos pull off another shock? Not according to our pundit Paul Merson, who predicts a 2-0 Italy win. He said: 'If I'm being honest, I didn't think Costa Rica were all that (v Uruguay) and I thought Italy were decent. But, of course, we didn't pick up Andrea Pirlo - he just did what he wanted to do - and I think Roy Hodgson got that wrong as well. Costa Rica weren't that good; Uruguay were just shocking at the highest level. I mean, the boy Joel Campbell looked like a world beater but I've got more chance of playing for Arsenal next season than him. Seriously, there's no way he's playing for Arsenal next season. Fair play to him but he's got no chance. We've got to cheer on Italy to win.'
I disagree with Merson Campbell has a future!

gunner62,

The new seasons fixtures have been out a few days and I was kind of hoping you'd start the ball rolling on our first game against Palace re score predictions.

Love you lots, like jelly tots. :-)

Hi Ed's
Personally I don't think there will be much transfer activity until after the world cop final, do you agree with this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer questions about timing.}

20 Jun 2014 12:52:17
I'm still trying to understand why the hell England kept OX out there? what was the point, woy boy had better not play him in the last game and then get injured, we should have sent him home and got a replacement

Anyone else reckon Serge Aurier is having a blinder in this world cup in an average Ivory Coast side? He's valued at £8 million which is a bargain to me. Not sure why Arsenal haven't made concrete offer yet.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He looks ok better crosser than sagna but his positioning is not the best there a few right backs out there uchida, Isla, abate, vrsajko, coleman, juan fran, and the Italian right back he looked good against England

Thoughts on last night
I think we are not playing the modern game at all. We are not pressing the opponent enough when we are without the ball.

Teams that do this, get the ball quicker and put the opponent out of shape. Look at the Barcelona, Bayern, even down to Chelsea in the premier league. Managers know that if you force a mistake from the opposition, possession comes natuarally. We sit back to much and defend deep and invite teams on us.

It is almost we are told we are inferior to them. Look at teams like Swansea, Southampton who will press the opposition relentlessly.

Commentators here have it wrong when they said guardiola said that the ball should be won back in six seconds. Wrong, the mantra is to force the opponent into a mistake within 6 seconds of losing the ball. (six seconds being how a quick counter attack can lead to a goal), pulling them out of shape for you to take advantage of.

Our grass roots are taught to be physical and fast, and no positional awareness and intelligence is taught. The top teams keep shape at all times, we gets pulled apart too much.

All national sides that are at the top level play like this (barring say Argentina). Look at Chile and Holland against Spain. Chile and Holland pressed, Spain didn't, the rest is history. Again with Germany and Portugal, Italy and England.

What we needed was a Carrick, Wilshire Gerrard base with sterling and Sturbridge supporting Rooney up front. Liliana and Barkley are ones for the future.

A shame could have been a good tournament for us if we had actually looked at how modern teams play.

On another note I hope we get Remy, Kehdira and Gintner, Aurier and Ochoa.if we can get smalling for vermalean in p/x not bad.

Balotelli would be good, but I think he is little too unpredictable.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Completely agree about pressing, I was screaming at the TV when we played Italy telling us to press higher.

Agree0 Disagree0

You'd have remy over balotelli!?!? Do you not think Remy is unpredictable?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2014 08:54:41
I thought England did ok and compared to the class of 2010 looked like world beater's.
We took a lot of young players who will be better in 2 and 4 years and as Barkley Sterling Ox Sturridge Henderson lallana have all emerged in the last two years hopefully other players like Jenks Theo and players we are yet to hear of will join them.
4 years ago England had to sneak back into the country after totally embarrassing the nation this time was disappointing but certainly not embarrassing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2014 09:12:15
Don't forget Danny Welbeck.

Oh wait,

Agree0 Disagree0

He won't make France 2016 DG he'll be a Burnley or Brighton spurs player by then. Roy taking over from Capelllo is the equivalent of taking over utd from Moyes with no transfer market and in two years he's done a good job imo.
2010 was the lowest point in England's history and 2006 wasn't much better, but like Germany have done we need give youth a chance for a change and Roy the boy is doing that

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2014 08:45:27
Ed025,

you called Stevie G captain Crumble.

cracked me up, love it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

His biological clock is telling him its time the commentary box or buy a pub, Liverpool's title bid England's world cup bid, its a shame because he's been a great servant to both England and Liverpool but time has caught up with him and it won't get better, needs to be a bit part player now

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree g62. He was just really there taking the place of a younger, better player. I hope in the final game the younger players get an opportunity. It'll be good to see wilshere, the ox, Barkley, Luke shaw, and a start for lallana. And ffs, don't play welbeck again! He's a rubbish player, had a rubbish season and shouldn't have been at the tournament let alone starting.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2014 07:56:53
Well that could well be the end of another exciting World Cup for us England fans. Seeing as my cup is half full i'm going to say at least Jack is coming home unscathed and the Ox seems to have pulled through. I never thought we had a cat in hells chance of getting out of the group in the first place. But now it seems over for us, as I said I'm pleased our Arsenal players seem ok. I'm really looking forward to watching Costa Rica and Joel Campbell as he seemed to rip it up in the last game he played. I'm wondering what Wenger is thinking if he carries on like he has. Which brings me on to this question. If what we have seen from Joel Campbell is what to expect where do you think Wenger should put him and who do you think he will replace?. On what I have seen I think we have got to be very careful on using Campbell as a back up as I don't think he would be putting up with that for too long before he was asking for a transfer and from what I've seen we need to keep him. Putting it another way if he wasn't an Arsenal player already we probably would all be over the moon to be linked with the prospect of buying him for next season on what he's showed wouldn't we?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2014 08:29:02
Let's be positive.

If Italy beat Costa Rica and Uruguay and we beat Costa Rica we have an outside chance, than the Fonz is ya uncle.
Happy Day's.

I'm going to reserve my opinion on Joel Campbell.
There's been a lot of hype about him, based on a game against Manchester United and 1 world Cup game.

bring him back to Arsenal but just as a squad player.

Ouch Jelfy,

Not fair to have a pop at some up-and-coming youngster who has the world at his feet.

Anyway, that's enough about me and stop picking on Jenkinson.

lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Some players need a run in the team to show their true ability I think. He's been prone to silly mistakes, but to be honest, I think most defenders are when they're used sporadically.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jelfy try theses you'll love um, Jenks deserves his chance and will take it with both feet given the chance and some support,
Now for an oldie, this will crack you up Jelfy, Aaron Ramsey.

Luis Suarez 2 goals.

What a kick in the teeth.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2014 08:13:39
Dags. Personally I think his teeth were offside for the first goal mate.
But in saying that let's face it he is a World Class striker biggest mistake Arsenal ever did was messing about and taking the P with that bid. Will they learn?? I don't know myself. Our problem is although England is probably the best footballing nation in the World the Premiership is very short on English players and its really not the English players that make it what it is. So it's not surprising that when England play our expectations are let down. Mark my words!! unless we have a drastic limit on the amount of foreign players playing in English football we will be picking the majority of the England squad from the English lower leagues in years to come.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2014 08:34:54
Totally agree Golds.

I think I read somewhere that 38% of players in Prem League are English, not good enough.

That said, for me (arguably), Englands starting 11, on paper, are as good as any other team's starting 11.
Main weak point is that we don't really have an out and out world class striker like Suarez.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2014 10:39:44
DG

I agree with the ratio, But you need to quality to get into a top team. Which English player would you want to replace a Mata or Silva or Yaya toure.
All the world class striker are from outside England.
Clubs are owned by business magnet outside UK.

Look at the way some players are bought up. Messi, Ronaldo and Suarez were boguth from streets playing footie compared to the facilties some English players have. All they do is roam around the pubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2014 11:43:37
Home fan,

I totally agree mate, and that's the problem.

Lets be honest, does any football supporter give a toss what nationality the players are who play for their team? Of course not.

You offer me Suarez for Arsenal and I will bite your arm off.
Damn it, I would bite my own arm off.

Would I say " no" because he's not English?
Hell no.

There's the problem, and I think something has to be done about it, sooner rather than later.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2014 12:47:33
DG

Completly with you. The only PL team I have admired all these years brining up younsters especially English was Arsenal. Seems wenger too wants to buy from outside to match the quality of teams in the league. You cannot blame them.
An Adam lallana is costing liverpool the same money Juventus would be paying for Alexis Sancehz ( might be different but not drastic)
My Owner would never trust an English player after Caroll and downing saga. Neither Pelligreni nor Jose.

TBH, I was surprised yesterday, We actually don't have an ACM in the national side, Spain have more than 10, Germans have in abundance. Even the Italians have more than 7.
