I realise why it didn't happen but in some ways it would have been great if all the eligible English players had gone to the u21 tournament, it would have been good to see Jack Ox Stirling etc there and see if they could have won it.

{Ed007's Note - You can't be THAT drunk at this time one a Saturday night!}

20 Jun 2015 23:03:50
Jack was busy saving the senior team from defeat....

20 Jun 2015 22:58:31
Ed,

Speaking of being drunk.

Do you think we could get Ronny Deila drunk enough to sell us Virgil Van Dijk?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Wouldn't you rather have Chris Jones or Phil Smalling?}

21 Jun 2015 08:23:29
Nice typo Ed :-)

Nah mate, Virgil is an absolute beast.

Van Dijk/Koscielny combo would be awesome.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It wasn't a typo, they're both that $hite it's difficult to tell them apart except Smalling is black and Jones is erm.. red!
As far as I know it's still between you and Southampton for van Dijk IF he is allowed to leave and when, before/after CL qualifiers.
It should all become clearer this week as CFC return for preseason. }

21 Jun 2015 15:31:46
Bond is brilliant, isn't he CTR. Lol ;-)

Evnin everybody and a special mention to Commander Jin Kent, always a pleasure.

Blimey, I abscond for a few days and we get invaded by The Mancs.

I think they have come on here because they want to taste a bit of our success.

C'mon Chris, Rosie and Badger, we have given you our 4th place trophy.

Look after it, you will be having it for a few years (all fun and banter).

P.s. Never come across this Jim Kent fella before but he seems like a right classy gent its a pleasure to read his posts (no sarcasm intended). Just a shame he's Arsenal πŸ˜ƒ

Behave yourself Honey.

Speaking of behaving yourself, is RVP still throwing his toys out the pram and demanding he should be playing automatically next season?

I read his article in paper this week, saying he is not "a puppet" and won't sit on the bench.

What a Cutch Dunt :-)

21 Jun 2015 06:00:44

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 09:56:57
Dags,

I actually like you guys and like CTR likes to consider himself your clubs voice of reckoning I am theirs.

That young lad is a heller for copying me and others who have been owning him for some time now.

They love using the usual, look at our trophies, we are the biggest club in the world, yawn.

To me last season there were 3 teams who looked like a team, us, you, albeit only from January, and in my opinion Southampton, but for the injury to Foster they would have run United closer for your old 4th place trophy.

United are currently a mix of triers, not good enoughs and the odd player of quality.

They love to justify players like Carrick, clearly not good enough for a top team, good player but past what sell by date he ever had, yet for them a big miss. Says it all.

Anyone but a United fan can see the difference Coquelin has made and you only have to watch him to see the potential.

I love that CTR whilst tells you what he THINKS and that out trumps what you guys THINK is happening here.

I found this site a while back and after reading some of the stuff they come up with on the United page just had to register for some fun.

At the moment they're creaming themselves over a young Brazillian who scored in the U20 World Cup, another new Ronaldo on the horizon. ;-)

So Matic and Fabregas, Cazorla and Coquelin or the mighty Carrick and Herrera. lol.

Apparently Herrera is classy and has an eye for goal, I once read that about Charlie Adams. ;-)

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 14:56:29
Lol, you got me there dags!

Evening Marcellus.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 15:40:13
Evening Honey,

Please don't think the term fella was an attempt to be intimidating, now should I say mate, geezer, dude, see it's not easy to know what to put without causing concern.;-)

Your Avatar is threatening enough as it is. ;-)

You are actually one of the more honest United posters and I get you for sticking up for Carrick but who ever you compare him too I'm certain you'd actually love an upgrade.

Same for Herrera, I could see him as a first teamer for say the Saints or Everton even though he is an upgrade on your current mids but United need to get some serious quality in there. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 16:21:35
Oh great my stalker is back lol.

Still taking down all them notes Marcellus? Remember the ones that u claimed to have? :) glad your back after being schooled by bond after that mishap :)

U see gooners, Marcellus needs u puppies to be onside because otherwise his 'banter' is pulled apart all over the place.

Still I don't know what's sadder, him or you guys for lapping it up. It was Liverpool fans last season now u lot are the chosen ones :)

Love u really Marcellus, u funny little man you :)

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jun 2015 17:33:16
Id love an upgrade on any player, wouldn't you? any improvement is good and whilst I rate Carrick highly he's getting on and there are certainly one or two players out there who could be classed as a step up. Its not like I've said he's the best in Europe or something!

Id respect your opinion more if you slagged off players who actually aren't good though e.g. Evans, Jones rather than the ones who are good.

Id also respect your opinion more if you were able to give reasoned arguments, Herrera is a good player and the only thing I've heard levelled at him is "never been picked for Spain" as if that proves anything

Like I said people need to take the time to watch games and make an assessment on what they see rather than rely on stats, highlights or in this case basing a whole argument on innuendo like "never played for Spain". I've no interest in that type of hyperbole

Its just a symptom of todays society I'm afraid, too many people want instant headlines rather than taking the time to assess things themselves and too many keyboard warriors just happy to make childish digs on an anomonous forum based on lack of true understanding πŸ˜‰

Anyways, this is the Arsenal site and I respect the gooners here enough to stop debating about United with a Chelsea fan and taking up more valuable space. Another time another place!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 19:04:34
If we get Cech I think we will be level pegging with city as the most likely team to topple title favourites chelsea come next May, but should we sign Benzema or another striker of his standing to add to Sanchez and Ozil who i think with a summer break under his belt will next season remind everyone just why we all got so excited on deadline day 2013 about him joining us then anything less than top two would be devastating.

Any ideas why we were after Howedes? We have 3 top quality centre backs for two positions and Chambers making up the fourth. I can't imagine we could keep 4 happy, if we were to sign a centre back. Perhaps we will send Chambers out on loan next season?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2015 19:19:13
Maybe u don't have 3 top quality centre backs?

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Jun 2015 19:30:09
Who are we to argue with that? If there's one thing Man U fans should be able to identify these days, it's three below-par CBs...

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 20:13:32
The thing I read said we were after him last summer, not this. Still think we could use another top quality CB though if there's on available. Chambers has potential but I don't see him getting near our team any time soon...

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 20:36:02
We haven't got three qualitt cb and we don't have three quality left backs, that's why.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 20:56:10
i would hope to replace mert, have people forgotten the ducking incidents and how slow he is? not to mention if kos picks up another major injury, that leaves us with a largely untested gabriel and potential liabilitys in mert and chambers. plus everyone is calling for cech and a striker not because giroud or ospina have done much wrong, but because it will improve us, the same can be said for bringing in an improved and younger defender

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 22:24:31
Still think we need a quality cb

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 22:46:19
Mert just doesn't cut it in defence if we wanna win the league , his pace is a liability and kos is constantly covering him . I would keep him in the squad but would I rather another top class cb? Hell yes

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Jun 2015 23:02:50
No Eden I certainly haven't forgotten either of his ducking incidents, if it was down to me he'd have been subbed and sacked on the spot at Stoke the first time he did it.
Funny thing is Arsene got abused at the train station that day and very few people even mentioned MerterDUCKER.

So the on trend reports of the day are carvalho. The bid is supposed to be 28.5 million. Rave reviews of his performance against england u21. I watched the game and to be fair no big deal for me! Surely if we would bid that much for him then we could get kondogbia for a cheaper price. That to me is a no brainer. So guys if this is a possition we are going to buy who do you want. Kondogbia for me all day long. Thoughts please

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2015 16:25:23
Schneidlerin is a safer bet than both and could play more positions… don't know why AW would hesitate on the price for Spyder and then go out and pay 28 million for either of the other 2 - so as usual something doesn't smell right with the rumor mill.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 16:57:30
Kondogbia, i though he was fantastic against us in the CL.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 18:11:02
Kondogbia is going to inter 22 mil. Bargain at that for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 18:16:09
Sorry to disagree but personally I would go for Carvalho.

He has something of a Yaya Tours about him. He is a Defensive Mid naturally but floats into a number ten position against teams when his team is in the ascendency, similar to Yaya, and can play those through balls and attacking passes. Strong and powerful to. And can play as Centre Back.

Seems the best contender to me. Closely followed by Kondogbia.

Schneiderlin we have players who can potentially play the role he does, Let Coquelin and Jack deliver that for us.

Just my pennies worth.

J

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 18:46:18
Yeah it doesn't make sense to me either . But carvalho would be last choice of the three mentioned

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah seen the inter link. 22 million there's no reason we should get piped to him over inter unless we actually didn't want him.

I will say this JinKent - if we sign Benzema, I will be unbelievably happy

I cannot see it ever happening, Wenger has been courting him for years and no hope up until this day. If we get Benzema, with Ozil, Sanchez, Cech in goal I will be in dreamland akin to the Henry days. We would have a team ready for the champs league in a year or so

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2015 16:47:48
Baggins. Me too.

I think if we could get Cech, Benzema and a cdm, either kondogbia or carvalho then we might be in good shape no matter who anyone else buys as each team can only play 11 at a time.

Apologies for missing you off the hello list earlier. Hope you are well.

To be honest probably best to try and get them from the club via Red Membership.

Or ask people who have season tickets who might not be going to a particular match.

I will keep my ears open and if any of my friends are not going will ask them on your behalf.

Following on from Jim Kent's post, anyone up for prematch beers on Saturday 8 August? The kick-off time is subject to change but I'm flying back for it anyway.

Assuming it's a 3pm kick-off, 12pm somewhere with plenty of outside space (so I can wear my mankini and get a tan) and bar that's not 8 deep.

Good morning all.

Hi to G62, DG, Saint, ED001, ED002, the Gooner ED025 ;), Laker, Stoner, if your about, Gun, CTR, hope the Little one is good, and everyone else I cannot remember as my 2 year old is trying to get in on the act whilst I am typing this on my phone.

Firstly. Well. I did say throughout the season I thought we would have a better season, which we did, but I thought we would get second, which we missed.

I am still pretty happy how things seem to be progressing.

Now. Everyone that knows me knows I never ever type a rumour, as it is very unlikely often I ever hear of anything that I feel confident enough to put forward but today I have to inform.

My God son has a friend who works at the Emirates. In the last week he rang my God son to tell him that 3 players associated agents have been at the Emirates. I am not saying they are have signed but definitely attended. So don't shoot the messenger, just thought it Would be an interesting titbit for the weekend.

The 3 are Cech, Benzema and Vidic (I challenged this one, but that is what he said)

Anyway. Looking forward to the roller-coaster ride ahead. Always reading just too busy to type lately.

CTR. Did I hear you are getting married some time soon? If so, congrats and good luck. Hope the preparations are going well.

ED025. Are you getting the new Arsenal home or away shirt for the season ahead? ;)

And isn't it time a load of us tried to get together for a lunch drink as a group. Considering the laughter that is generated, a good old pub lunch sounds like it might be a worthwhile pursuit.

Anyway. Being dragged off to the garden to play football. How am I going to cope when the second child arrives in Nov!

Love to everyone, best wishes to those they love. Let the banter stay fun, challenging,, humorous with an edge but never personal and directly offending!

Time to down periscope (G62 will get that)

Hi sub commander great to hear from you again mate, well things deffinately did improve as you said although none of us ever dreampt at the time that Le Coq would be the man to turn our season around.
I think next season we will see the very best of Mesut Ozil which will in my opinion bring out the very best of many of those around him and if we add Cech I'd be getting very excited then add Benzema then I'd be very very excited and constantly asking how many sleeps to the season?

So like I said what exactly does he do apart from your usual look how many medals I've got.

20 Jun 2015 15:38:02
Its a sad day when people have stopped judging footballers by actually watching football, now its all stats and footy manager. Yet these same people think their opinion matters in some way?

Thats funny low brow, I bet le Coq is a worldy now after his good 6 month stint though?

For those who honestly need help to understand - sure Carrick is no beast in the tackle and doesn't run around like a blue ar*se fly (must be crap then lol). But his defensive positioning is very good, he sniffs out danger and makes lots of valuable interceptions. But here's the crux of it - what sets him apart from most holding midfielders is a mix of composure, passing range and ability to set the tempo (an invaluable asset he learnt from the best, Scholes).

All these players have different assets but Coq for instance, whilst being more of a beast defensively, needs the likes of Cazorla to drop in and do this work because he can't set the tempo himself. Looks a decent player mind, not saying otherwise. But I would hope nobody seriously talks about him in the same breath as Carrick at this stage in his career because that would be a tad embarrassing.

Matic is top quality, a beast in defence, athletic enough and comfortable on the ball to boot. He can't really dictate, like Carrick, but he can do a lot if other things that Carrick cannot. Along with Hazard he's Chelsea's most important player.

You see lads, it is possible to be objective about both your own players and opposition players.

But for the likes of Marcellus, who rely on stats, motd highlights and footy manager - you'll never be capable. Sorry

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 16:40:35
Why thank you honey, you proved my point beautifully, he has pathetic interception stats compared to the other two but he apparently makes interceptions by reading the game. Nice.

He dictates the game like Cazorla and Fabregas but you want to call him a defensive mid or is it a deep lying mid to compare him to Coquelin and Matic. Pure genius, you jumped right in with both feet. Lol.

Maybe a little to much match of the day fella, you should try going to some games mate, remember when we were at Old Gashford and we sang race you back to London after you all left early.

Oh no fella you were at home in Wales. ;-)

You fella are comedy genius, twisted yourself in knots a treat. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 17:12:31
Oh yeah HB sure its early days with le coq so we can take him out the equation but please don't tell me carrick has even one single plus on matic cause that's embarrassing.

All that been said what I have noticed on this site is that people get very precious about possitions and they are so many different buzz words surrounding positions. You get a style of playing a position and all of a sudden it's no longer a style but an actual position. So please GK defender midfielder and CF and let the managers select the form and the personnel to suit

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 17:37:05
Ok fella (hard man talk if ever I saw it)

I guess you're right Carrick is not a holding midfielder (who said defensive mid its not the 1990's anymore you know?) and doesn't play the deepest of 3 centre mids, as do Coq and Matic. I got it wrong the whole time.

I guess Alonso, Busquets et al aren't holding mids either because they don't go round bashing people up.

Can you imagine Cazorla or Fabregas playing without anyone in behind them in the Prem? Now that would be a laugh. that's kind if the difference I thought but no I'm wrong clearly.

Old gashford? Not from Manchester? Comedy genius? Yeh some lovely intellectual points you make there, I think my IQ just shrunk reading it 😊

Well done for turning the motd quip back on me a la "I know you are but what am I"

Some lovely banter on this page recently - and then Marcellus turned up 😎

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2015 19:09:16
So low brow, if there's no difference between those midfield positions you'd happily go back to having Ramsey and Cazorla in midfield without le Coq?

Funny that because from reading this site le Coq has been your saviour due to the lack of balance you had in midfield previously. I must have dreamt that.

Matic is top quality, one of the best in his position in Europe. I have no problem admitting that I even said it in my last post! But yeah Carrick is better as controlling possession even though Matic edges him on most other things - just watch them play and you'll see it. Its not even a dig at Matic just being objective.

Not aimed at you badger. It's most people on here arsenal fans included that go on about intricacies within possitions. It depends where you play who you play you just see daft comparisons all the time.

Fair play mate, for a second there I thought you were on the same level as Marcello Williams. I'm so, so, so sorry for ever thinking that!πŸ˜ƒ

Gunners, please sign Van Dijk from Celtic. Exactly the type of player you need. Selfishly don't want him to believe but if he does then it's a perfect fit. What a player he is #monthegunners
