Good win tonight fellas, rode your luck at times but thoroughly deserve the win.

Bit odd that brow would rather know what I think and gloat at me down the page than to celebrate arsenal's win though, strange. 😕

What I think is arsenal tonight showed they can play different ways and be equally effective, it's about time too.

Wenger by hook or by crook stumbles on season saver every year, lol. only difference is this season he's stumbled on it a lot quicker than normal, that might just be the difference this time.

As long as Wenger can manage the team properly this time over the course of a season u have a chance.
A top DM and ST is a must in January if u keep this form up and it could happen for u, that's the first time in 6/7 years I have actually thought that.

Well done gooners, I want England to be a force in Europe and we needs wins like this to be considered that again, in the last 2 rounds Germanys first and second clubs have lost English clubs, that's a good start I think.

That ok brow?

Chris,
Over the past few weeks, we have beat some terrific teams.
Bayern, Watford and Leicester :-)

Ctr aslong as your manager doesn't pair Carrick and Bastian youl be OK. Herrera and Morgan must start surely. It's not rocket science.

On another story away from our amazing win! Anyone see mourinho post game comments tonight. Called the referee 'weak and naive' anyone not clued up on why I'm saying this is because the other week he called the ref, 'afraid' and so on and got fined 50k. Then he said, so it's ok for managers (meaning arsene) to call refs weak and naive as he did after the Chelsea game. But you cannot call a ref, 'afraid'. Something along those lines.

Now Mourinho calls the ref, 'weak and naive' himself. Do people think he'll get in trouble for this! Should he? Really has a huge obsession with arsene. Well done again to our boys!

I would wet myself with glee if he's punished for it.
He is the vilest man I've ever seen managing a team in the spotlight, horrible man.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2015 00:22:35
Not too sure if the FA cover Euro matches, but typical Mourinho, always has to have the last word.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2015 00:55:36
I did think that too dags. But what makes me smile is the fact lately we've had some terrific performances and results. Tonight, United, Leicester was good performances. Whilst mourinho is still sitting there trying to start another battle with arsene. Jealousy?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2015 00:56:17
That's why it would be funny if they punish him Dags, it's not as though he could then claim double standards as it wasn't uefa who let Wenger say it, it was the fa here.

They say the players are sick of hearing what he says too. Hazard looking at houses in Madrid no doubt lol.

Going to hold my hands up.
Love Ospina, thought he did terrific last season. So, when we signed Cech, I know he's a terrific keeper, but couldn't see what all the fuss was about.
Jeez, huge upgrade on Ospina. Top top keeper.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

20 Oct 2015 23:26:45
I think it was just a matter of game time with Cech, having spent most of last season on the bench.

He is now fully up and running and back to his best. A fantastic keeper.

A snip at £10 million. :-)

21 Oct 2015 07:14:43
The guys a rock boys. Experience. Calmness and class. Ospina will depart this summer. Like fabianski he will make a good goalie at a lesser club.

20 Oct 2015 22:49:24
Wow, I'm speechless.
Didn't expect that. Thought we were a bit timid at first. We seemed to be playing like the away team, allowing Bayern all the possession, soaking up the pressure and only hitting them on the counter when they lost the ball.
But, superb performance against, in my opinion, the best team in the world. Credit again to Giroud, off the bench to score a key goal.
Plenty of work to do, but one game at a time.

The only BIG negative is the injury to Ramsey, let's hope its just minor.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Oct 2015 23:51:43
Looks like a hamstring injury so could give Ox a nice 3 week run in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2015 00:03:03
I do like Ramsey and hope he's ok soon, but as I've said before he's not a winger and if tge Ox is given a run if games while he's out i believe he'll have a hard time getting back in the starting 11.

Agree0 Disagree2

20 Oct 2015 22:29:47
What a performance from the lads tonight, everyone did their bit and too perfection. Cech, mert, kos, monreal all 10/10 for me but the standouts for me with hector and le coq, 11/10 for both of those two, for hector to do that after 92mins of football is incredible, I'd go as far as to say that he's got be one of the best RB's in the league wouldn't you agree? And Le Coq kept all our defence tight, didn't lunge in and get a silly yellow card, best performance I've seen from him this season. Giroud deserves credit too, he transformed our attack which led to those two goals.

But I think the biggest pat on the back goes to Wenger, he showed that this arsenal team can match any team on the planet, still a way to go yet but this win has got to propel us in both the league and CL.

Hats off the teams, fantastic result. One very happy Gunner :)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - I'm an Arsene fan Essex, but that pat on the back should be a clip around the ear for not playing Petr every game mate, you would be in the box seat now..

20 Oct 2015 22:44:26
I can assure you ed025 I'm naffed off with him not doing that but I'm glad he didn't stick to his guns and go with ospina lol what must they be thinking over at chelski? That has to be a big kick in the teeth when you see a performance like that from a keeper you sold this summer to a rival lol?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - I think your right Essex mate..

21 Oct 2015 00:05:21
Completely agree ed25, we'd be basically through now and could comfortably rest players.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - I think so too JPS..

21 Oct 2015 00:10:55
We have arguably the two best backs in the league, Bellerin in my opinion will be one of the best in Europe within a year or so, he reminds me of Ashley Cole when he was coming through he took a little time to get his timings right between assisting the attack and defending but once he had that turned in to a truly world class player.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Oct 2015 22:27:32
3-0 might of been out of the window but 2-0 lol

And that is exactly how to play against the good sides

Cech was incredible, the back four as a whole followed his lead.

The win is great but a clean sheet is massive and shows what we can do,

And the win is when our star man ( Sanchez) was off the boil.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - and that's why Cech should play every game BG..

20 Oct 2015 22:51:24
To be fair that's the difference when you have a very top rather than a decent keeper and a proper DM rather than a very decent MF player doing his best to be a DM.
All deserve great credit tonight but those two positions being properly filled make such a very big difference.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Oct 2015 21:50:58
Take a bow hector!

Got Skined a few times in first half but who wouldn't against Costa but what a masterclass in the 2nd and the run for the last goal was just wow. the pace and fitness of this lad is unreal

I just hope Barcelona don't start sniffing around.

Great game, I was worried as throughout we where giving them far to much time to pick out the passes with no real pressure on the player in possession and no marking on the teammates however tactics where spot on.

Big shout to Girond who looked like he had a point to prove, however I think he does better coming of the bench against a tired defence after theo has worn them out a bit

Get in justgot to keep the momentum going, get a draw in Germany and we have a great chance of going through.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Oct 2015 21:49:26
Wenger gets tactics spot on - credit where it's due

Team played real well especially Cech, Nacho and Per.

Few silly passes from Sanchez but I forgive him because he is awesome. A few questionable decisions from Ox who still needs to find himself.

Thought Ozil had another strong all round game as did Sanchez.

Awesome result - so disciplined, thought GG had organised the defensive unit as they held their lines so well and strong.

Absolutely chuffed to see us defend so well but also create chances.

Bellerin - well done son!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Oct 2015 22:39:16
I thought Sanchez was a bit careless in possession at times and we were fortunate, but it is very rare he is slightly off the boil as he will show when we go to Munich.

20 Oct 2015 21:46:01
What a win. It goes to show what we already all know. We can beat any team on our day. But we so often fail to turn up and shoot ourselves in the foot.
Still this is something worth celebrating and proves what we are capable of. We shouldn't be scared of any team.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Oct 2015 21:43:10
Wow. Where do I start. We won't face an opposition like that again this season. Bayern are better than any team in the EPL. We can take a huge boost from this. Cech 10/10 Monreal 10/10 Kos 10/10 even mert a big love for you per mertesaker what a complete performance. Everyone bellerin was awesome. That was the man city performance of last year even better. We need to win our games against olyimpiacos and Zagreb and have a bit of luck . Who knows take a point or three at Munich!

Regardless of what happens in Europe we should now realise that after getting that result we are more than capable of winning the domestic honours . We love you Arsenal we do!

Tell me you weren't listening to that tool Hargreaves, that was not the tactic which Wrighty picked up on in the studio and eventually the thick knuckle head Hargreaves realised.

If it's not that idiot it's Michael bloody Owen.

By not pressing - we kept our shape and stopped us being sucked in and exposed to the the counter. Instead, we encouraged them to push on and leave space for Theo.

20 Oct 2015 09:00:16
I really hope he starts Gabriel next to Koscielny tonight. I can see us coming out of the blocks the same way we did against United. With Bayern at full strength, this would be a much harder game to call from a tactical perspective, and even though they still have the pace to crucify us on the break, we need to take advantage to the injuries to Ribery, Robben, and Gotze, by fielding Koscielny and Gabriel and have them stick to Lewandowski and Muller like a bad rash, Mertesacker, though immensely experienced, just doesn't have the pace to suit the game I think and hope that we'll play tonight.

Sustain pressure in their final third with fast, precise passing, Ozil making those runs into space, creating for us, have our centrebacks attached to their strikers' hip, nullify them, and have le coq sit deep and break up play when we lose the ball. We're at home so we have to go at them and I can't see us keeping a clean sheet if we're the side sitting deep when you see the quality they have up front.

Feeling surprisingly optimistic about tonight, but you know what we're like when it's a 'must win game' in Europe.

COYG!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Oct 2015 10:30:51
I think you might be disappointed CIG. Wenger today on Lewandowski: 'inside the box he is outstanding. that is why we need the experience of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny to deal with that because that will be one of the most important things on the night'

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Oct 2015 10:44:26
You never know with what Arsene says Gab could easily start still, hope so.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Oct 2015 12:25:47
Mertesacker is much better suited for this game, experienced and calmer compared to Gabriel.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - but slower wes, which will be a factor imo mate..

20 Oct 2015 12:38:17
if u ask lewandowski he'd rather play against its merts. gabriel is a street fighter bullied by no one.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Oct 2015 16:02:45
Is Gabriel fit?
I thought he'd had a minor op?
I've been off the pace a bit recently, so I could be wrong!

Either way, Kos and Gab should really be our first choice pairing in my eyes, regardless of opponent.
Per's been a great servant, but he dropped off the pace at the end off last season/this season and he doesn't inspire me with confidence.

I just think a back 4 of Bellerin, Koscielny, Gabriel and Monreal, is incredibly well balanced.
Koscielny holds his line well, which is important if Bellerin is going to be bombing on.

Gabriel however likes to attack the ball and that's something I really love about him.
Whereas Per let's the opponent come to him, in a calculated manner, Gabriel goes at it hammer and tong, which of course can lead to a slip up here and there, but with Monreal being so calm and disciplined these days, our back 4 seems to have the perfect cover for one another!

More importantly, I hope we start Ox wide today.
We can beat Bayern, we've done it before, but it has to be a high tempo, high intensity game.

Alexis and Ox out wide, Theo up top, allows us to relentlessly press Bayern, they're going to play Pep's usual passing game and the longer they have the ball, the more damage they'll do.

We need to get really into them.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Oct 2015 16:32:30
Wesley, I don't know why people only talk about Mertesacker's experience when Koscielny is also very experienced and is no youngster. This game, i think, is going to be far from calm and a lot of the Munich team will know Per's game inside out since he played in the national team for years - being dropped for Howedes/Boateng in the WC because of his decline I assume.

Yes I read that Gabriel is back from his injury or illness or whatever it was, and also that Wenger is contemplating whether to play Sanchez and Ozil (bizarre) .

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Oct 2015 17:33:34
Coz Gabriel can be a little rash at times, also does a little bit of grabbing and pulling at corners etc, not sure it suits in Europe.

Following three excellent performances and results in the Premier League, elevating us to 2nd place, just 2 points behind leaders Man C, I would love to see us put in a winning performance tonight against Bayern.
Lets do our part as fans and get behind Wenger and the team. Come on you Gunners.

Just a thought on the giroud vs. walcott debate. Despite which one is individually better, it seems to me the team plays better with theo in the squad. His pace makes the defenders play deeper and backtrack, giving caz, ozil, sanchez more room to operate. I like giroud coming off the bench as plan B, but for me especially in more competitive matches, theo has to start for now. Giroud could start in matches against the lower premiership sides who will sit deeper. Both are good not great strikers, but the team is greater with walcott in the squad.
