So Granit serves 3 march ban for "violent conduct" while the referee get dropped to division 1 for being crap

Not sure it was violent conduct

Not sure where this "new rule" is

Not sure we will see consistency

Not sure it was actually a red card by the rules but I wish tackles like that plus tugging shirts with no intention to play the ball is a red as it will suit footballing teams.

Take your rose tinted glasses off mate, lol.

Definitely a foul, made no attempt to get the ball.

Violent? I guess if you bring a player down, whilst not making a genuine attempt to get the ball, it could be classed as violent.

Harsh? Possibly, but the player's know the rules.

He prevented a 4 on 2 situation. He hoped he'd get away with a yellow but, either way, he had to do it and I'm very glad he did.

It was interesting to see that Arsene Wenger did rotate 4 players in last night's match. Perhaps, he will do so again on Saturday, after which he can rotate the squad against Reading, giving most, if not all of the first eleven a well needed rest before we enter a tricky run of matches.

On Saturday, I would be tempted to play Gabriel and give one of the two CB's a rest, although this does worry me as Gabriel has been unconvincing since he arrived at the club. I would also like to see Bellerin rested, but again the replacement Debuchy hasn't played for the first team this season.

Assuming Giroud and Ramsey are not ready it might be an idea to consider Perez. However, I believe it may be prudent to pick the best eleven, as they can be rested against Reading next week. Thoughts fellow Gooners?

Champions league and premier league always play your best 11 available is my motto, league and FA cups are the games to rest players and give others much needed game time.

Pick your winning team! From the other night iwobi instead of the ox! See how it goes if we are winning try Perez if we're struggling try Perez . In a good position ATM.

Our squad is extremely strong, so we are able to rotate in order to avoid the huge volume of injuries we have suffered for many seasons. We rotated yesterday and won 6-0.

21 Oct 2016 08:24:08
We've been rotating and place sharing for years and still had an awful record on injuries while the two previous season champions Leicester and Chelsea used the least players during thier title winning seasons, makes you think doesn't it :-)
I think both Theo and Ox will become better players having to fight for the one place apposed to being happy to take turns in sharing which makes for cosy club champions league qualification mentality and no more that has been at the club for years.
If we want things to be different from other seasons the " after you sir 'attitude is best left behind us.

Xhak, he never pulls out, always goes in hard, perfoms every week and is solid every time. Biggest performer in the team for me bar none. Deserves more recocnition for his work than anyone. Just unfortunate he's got a silly name.

Hearing ozil won't commit until arsene does. If that's true I'm sure this'll be an interesting split on opinions here.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

20 Oct 2016 14:42:36
Never really rated Ozil anyway:-)
In all seriousness if Arsene continues to do what he's been doing this season why wouldn't we want him to stay?
He's raised the bar by letting Jack and others go and by signing Mustafi Xhaka and maybe even Perez too, plus he's been picking our strongest side in almost all games.
I'm optimistic about our chances of putting in a real proper challenge this season and for me personally that's all I've been asking for from the club and if Arsene is once again capable of doing that happy days.

D16 I think we will read all sorts of stories true or not so true over the next few months. When we are winning the stories will have a different slant on them too when we are not. What will be will be in the end.

Gunner what do you call a proper challenge. We finished second last year and didn't put a proper challenge in. Before that two seasons ago if memory serves we were 5 points clear at new year and faded away. For me its win or bust in the present climate and wenger scenario. It depends on your opinion too, some people called second last year a proper challenge and others a failure. 12 years without a league title is long enough for anyone for this clubs potential. Heroic failure is not an option for me not after so long.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Oct 2016 17:45:45
To me Steve a proper challenge means being in with a realistic chance of being champions after 35 games, 1 - 3 points behind the leaders with 3 games to go is being in the race, being 12 points behind with 4 games to go is only a realistic challenge in Welsh Gooners world :-)
Last season was all over for us by March as per usual and 2nd on 71 points is only camouflage if people want it to be.

62 - I agree with you. Last season injuries killed us and the order of games flattered us a little. When it came to the crunch ( not big teams but big games) we blew it big style and then salvaged a respectable finish but never challenged.
I want to be in the mix come May. I don't care about St Spurs day - could not give a damn. I want to compete - simple

That may actually be us finishing 3 or 4th ( I want our 4th place trophy for Euro football) but with a real chance of winning. Pundits, opponents, fans and players 100% believe. Players put a shift in and press and keep their shape and make space for each other.

That's what I want - I believe the squad and Wenger can get us there. Best squad we probably ever had but probably a Henry and an Overmars away from being our best team. That could be the difference either way. Luck and injuries could decide.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Oct 2016 21:27:25
sY mate if we finished 4th on say 82 points while both 3rd and 2nd had 83 points and the winners 84 pionts I'd say give Arsene a new contract without a doubt, but if we fade away again and fail to be in the mix next May I'd say is time to give someone else a go no matter how many injuries we had, injuries naughty stadium sugar daddy rich opponent's its all be used before, its time to challenge or for change imo mate.
I hope Arsene has us all wanting him to stay next May because for me it's never been personal its always been about us being all we could be which for me hasn't been the case for the last 4 seasons atleast.

Great win last night in a type of game where we have struggled in the past, we are on a roll at the moment and although fixtures have been kind to us who have City beat so far this season?
Beating Chelsea was massive for us so I see no reason to be anything but optimistic about the upcoming trio of fixtures in November v Spurs PSG and Utd, although we love the head to head games its worth remembering we beat Leicester home and away last season but finished way behind their points total while both Chelsea and Swansea did the double over us but finished way below us.
The big head to head games are exciting and very important but over a season its the bread and butter gamex that really decide the difference between real champions and 4th place prenteners and then of course the Spursday night football teams.
If we beat Middlesbrough Saturday its 3pts if we beat Man City its still 3pts, come the end of the season its not who you get your points against that matters but how many of them you get and 80+ points for us for the first time in years would be brilliant and pretty much ensure we were real contenders again.

one game at a time, i think our defense has been lapse recently, even against ludogorets we had big spaces between defenders. yes we were up 3-4 goals but priority should have been shut down the attack for them and let's play safe. we went full mode and while we did not get punished we would have against a better side.

lets hope wenger will see that and prepare them better for the bigger games.

20 Oct 2016 09:46:45
Have to agree with that laker, they had opportunities whilst we were only 1-0 to get back in the game.

The thing I like though is bar the Liverpool game, when we or more an individual has had a lapse, like last night, someone has covered it, in this case Ospina.

The team is the sum of all its parts and we are playing more like a team now and that's a big difference.

I'm really liking Coquelin and think he should be one of if not the 1st name on the team sheet.

Cech, Koscielny, Coquelin, Ozil and Sanchez is making a very solid spine. If I'm being picky I'd like to see our left side working as well as our right and think that's down to either Iwobi or the Ox to work that little bit harder in defence but that's being really picky.

But we're Arsenal so it is 100% one game at a time, this is truly where Wenger needs to earn his corn, keep them grounded, keep them working hard. Mustafi said some good things after the game which were good to hear.

And yes 62 as long as we get the required points it matters not who we took them from.

I totally agree Red Le Coq is our number one DM and is as valuable to the team as anyone.
My main concern is Aaron and what Arsene does with him, he is an excellent player but to show how good he is he needs to be playing in the same role as Mesut or Caz and those two are undropables right now.
Theo can't and shouldn't be dropped on current form so where does Ramsey play? I've a horrible feeling it's going to be wide left in place of Iwobi or with Theo switching to the left and Aaron wide right, either way it's not good for the team.
Aaron is to good to be warming the bench and just covering injuries continually but it's difficult to see where he fits into our best 11 when all are available.

Ever since xhaka came le coq has gone up a notch. Shows he puts his head down and arse up in my opinion! He was left for dead a few years back and never gives up and keeps working hard and that's his greatest quality! Also liked Perez out wide. Good strength in depth throughout the squad now.

Ramsey is a worry in that respect 62 but he hasn't shoe horned Giroud in so maybe the same will apply to Ramsey. Equally whilst playing well he hasn't been at his best so on merit he doesn't currently slot in anywhere for me.

They were icing Cazorla's foot after he came off, he caught it when playing that final ball for Ozil's goal so that would be an opportunity but then like you say Xhaka and Elneny will have a say in that.

SLB loving the shirt. 😀.

Who is this new player we have signed?

Theo something or another? :-)
