Hi all. United fan coming in peace.
I read a good thread at the bottom of this page regarding how long the 4th place epl team will still qualify for the cl. Also on whether you wanted domestic rivals to do well in the cl or not.
Well the rules have changed. Now the top 4 ranked leagues automaticaly get 4 cl places. Those are in order la liga, epl, italian german and french is miles behind in 5th. Epl is miles ahead of italy and germany and are really assured to always be in the top four ranked leagues so effectively guaranteed 4 places for the foreseeable future.
On the 2nd point i have no problem with domestic rivals doing well but never want to see any of them win it or get to a final. With the exception of liverpool who i would like to see get to the final every year and lose because the only thing better than liverpool losing is watching liverpool nearly win and then lose😂😂
But in the case of the EL this season i hope arsenal win it and with a bit of luck in the draw after the 3rd placed cl teams come into it you can definitely win it. We all know its not the cl but don't turn your noses up at it. There is all the joy of winning it, the trips to support them, the night of the final the memories and a guaranteed cl place.
Sure last season we won and it won't rank as high as our cl wins with supporters but we needed it. badly and its been a bit of a springboard for the team and manager it can be the same for your club allbeit with a new manager probably.
Sorry for long post. Enjoy the rest of the season and i hope you go on to win the EL and that you enjoy the ride.
Some too posters on this page and while i rarely contribute i enjoy reading the banter and football opinions.
Cheers.

Great post Ken, my personal opinion is we still have a way to go as a club from top to bottom before we actually accept we aren't currently one of the games elite and get back to basics in order to regain our place.
We do as a club think we are above the league cup and Europa league and unless we get to the semi final of either won't give them the respect they deserve.
City Utd Chelsea all try and win the league cup each season as Mourinho Pep as with Mancini and Pelgrini before him realise the value of creating a winning mentality and maintaining and encouraging it over a season not thinking it can be turned on like a tap as and when wanted.
We are not yet ready to change with the times and learn from others despite our obvious weaknesses mentality wise that have been and continue to be well documented over the past 10 seasons and continue to be this season too.
I think we may need to go a bit further backwards before we are really ready to move forwards from top to bottom.

Hey hammer fan here in peace I've been a massive fan of back Wilshire for ages now and in the summer when we were linked to him I crossed everything hoping we could him but unfortunately we didn't but how on earth he's not in your first team I don't know he's an amazing player well just wanted to say that and if you don't want him maybe lend him yo us 👍😉 all the best for the season guys.

I nearly choked on my strongbow last night when commentator Stewart Robson said he's the best player to come out of England since gazza. I think he forgot Gerrard, lampard, Scholes etc even dele alli is a better player at his age than Wilshire.

I'm a huge wilshere fan and your right raver he isn't anywhere near them and probably a few others. What he meant to say was he has shades of gazza but only when he is playing on top form which unfortunately has only been a few occasions.

Fair point sanago, I thought when he was younger he reminded of inesta of Barcelona and I thought he would end up at a club like that but the rumours are he's arrogant and think he's better than he actually is.

Gazza was the real deal ability wise he was up there with Ranaldo Messi Cruyff but unfortunately for him and England his personality wasn't suited to making the most of his unbelievable talent.
Jack obviously isn't in that class but he's far from alone there as very very few are.
None of Gerrard Lampard scholes Beckham were in the top bracket reserved for footballs elite but they had the personality and attitude to make the absolute most of all they had.
Unfortunately Jack doesn't have the attitude of personality of Gerrard Lampard Beckham and Scholes or the ability to make up for it of Gazza.
Dele Ali reminds me more of Jack than any of the others mentioned as there are serious questions about his attitude being able to match his very good but limited ability.
Jack could yet have an excellent career but every season that passes the odds get longer and longer against it happening, questions over his physical capabilities are huge but they aren't his only problem as his attitude and personality are every bit as questionable a ps his fitness.
Harry Kane seems to have the personality and attitude plus ability needed to follow in the footsteps of Gerrard Lampard Beckham and Scholes but both Ali and Wilshere look well behind Harry in having the requirements needed to be talked about years after they retire.

Rumours I heard around the time of his first long lay off (which appeared extremely long given the nature of the supposed injury) that he was jack the lad by nature and had a problem with the marching powder and the club took action to put him back together. Could be a load of rubbish but heard it from lots of different people in and around the ground. I wonder if the eds ever heard of anything on the dodgy side. If not have the eds ever heard of any drug problems in the EPL in general?

{Ed025's Note - loads to be honest SLB and a couple of arsenal players are on that list, its a major problem within the game and when you have young kids on thousands a week its hardly surprising, i wont name names as a lot of it is speculation but im sure we all have a fair idea of the usual suspects mate..

Gunner gazza was a fantastic player but he was nowhere near Glenn Hoddle who for me is still the best footballer to come from England he had absolutely everything.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he was very good raver but whether or not he was better than gazza is down to personal preference mate..

Glen Hoddle v Bryan Robson raver? No contest mate Robbo by a distance.
Gazza v Robbo? Gazza by the same margin in my opinion raver mate.

People will look back in ten years and all say it was Rooney . Time away immortolise people. United and England's all time top scorer. By the way he's not my favourite player for club or country . In fact I can't be doing with the potato head but that's how it will get seen given time.

Gunner Bryan Robson was class the box to box midfielder, I still don't think he gets the credit he deserves today, as for marching powder problems sanago I know how Wilshire feels😎.

Rangers fan here but has an interest in arsenal anyway etc when is arsenal going to get rid of Wenger it's went stale for the team the past 2 years Wenger should of went after the FA cup victory, at least that would of been a high. I see spurs are actually looking in better shape then arsenal and have done for a season or so tf is going on at the enirates these days?

There ambitions have lowered since the days of gallas and Henry. I want to see arsenal spend 200M in a transfer window and actually seriously compete for the premier league title. they lack real leaders on the pitch and they need to have a plan B when things don't go right and lastly that defence needs someone commanding to shout at players and take order. when watching arsenal you always feel like they could concede 1 goal per game .

If we have 200m to spend I say save it for next manager.

Sorry but Jack’s pas to Walcott to set up Giroud’s goal was nicer than the goal itself. Glad to have him back!
