Love to read this stuff:

When the final whistle sounded Arsenal coach Juan Carlos Carcedo stormed onto the field of play and confronted Torreira over his mistake, as reported by our friends at football. london.

He spoke to him for a few moments, gesturing with his hands to where Torreira lost the ball, and making it known that this new Arsenal backroom are not going to accept anything less than perfection this season.

Emery and team driving the right mentality in the team. Nice job Boss!

Sy i agree but it must be the same for Oxil, xhaka, bellerin, mustaffi etc, it can't be picking on the young lad for one mistake and letting others go. It has to be the same for all.

Maybe he's not wasting his breath on lost causes Steve and saving his energy for those he thinks he will be working with long term.
Sometimes in management and coaching you have to know the difference between those you can help and make a difference with and those your simply paid to look after even though you would never have employed them yourself.

Took the words out of my mouth 62
I fully believe if he had the money he'd have at least replaced Xhaka and Mustafi, but for now just concentrate the most energy on players you believe you can teach and improve.

On a side note, I'd like to see Xhaka and Mustafi dropped, give the spots to Torreira and Mavropenos.
I can see them being regular starters with Papa and Guendouzi as they are both already better, why waste time.

JP - that would be progress in my book as well as moving towards the long term solution.

Not really banging his drum, well yes maybe i am. Gouendouzi has made 9 tackles 8 interseptions and given 1 foul away ( better stats than kante) so far this season. When he played for lorient his season successful pass percentage was 91%. He never gave the ball away for 55 minutes against chelski. Its really good to get excited again about someone who could be anything and is actually going out and dominating. We really might actually have the real deal.

Exceptional young player, as are Torreira and Mavrapanos. Bodes well for the future.

Every now and then you see a young player who comes in and imposes himself on games, he doesn't just look good for a young prospect he just looks like a real footballer straight away.
Norman whiteside Micheal Owen stevie G and Cesc all looked the part from day one and held their own consistently from day.
Guendouzi looks like a proper footballer to me not simply a young prospect who might become one some day.

I've seen a lot of our young guns tipped for greatness since Fab Steve but never been fully convinced by them just hopeful, the boy looks like premier league player now.
Pick Arsenals best 11 and who gets picked before him? Pea is the only one I'd automatically put in before this lad.

{Ed0333's Note - one of my mates texted me when you played city first game of the season and was ridiculing the kid with the outrageous haircut. The jokes on my mate now. The guy truly does look like the real deal and he’s gonna be the first name on the team sheet real soon. Good luck to him.

21 Aug 2018 20:44:52
I think your right Ed0333 mate, I think the only two teams in the league he couldn't seriously contest a starting place in right now are Liverpool and City all the rest i think he would be in with a reasonable shout getting a start and certainly all 18 match day squads.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - he’ll be a hero for you guys real real soon.

21 Aug 2018 20:51:38
Fingers and toes are crossed Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - love the kids attitude, typified by his reaction when you missed an easy chance against Chelsea he was so frustrated he was banging his fists on the pitch. At least you know he gives a damn.

21 Aug 2018 21:03:38
Really like this guy - attitude, fearless, desire, vision, work rate, quality of pass, effectiveness of pass and desire to drive team forward fast. He doesn’t hide either.

A real find

Like him and the young Greek centrehalf.

21 Aug 2018 21:04:34
Wow how we've missed that attitude and commitment Ed0333 mate, I just wish we had him and Sanchez at the same time.
Sanchez on his own couldn't beat the cosy club mentality, and the bloke really did try hard too, but Sanchez and Guendouzi together in the same team both leading by example and not accepting slackers around them? I reckon they'd have dragged the rest into the real world kicking and screaming including Arsene.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - you may have a point here mate. Although I think Sanchez has even bigger problems trying to work out where his form is?

21 Aug 2018 21:55:51
He does indeed Ed0333, I think if he could rewind the clock he'd have run down his contract with us and taken his time for his next move but he wanted out so badly he jumped without really looking where he was landing properly.
He's a winner at heart and I don't think 500k a week will hold him at United too much longer and he will take a pay cut for football reasons.
It's a shame he never got to work with Dick because Sanchez Dick and Guendouzi might have been very good for Arsenal together.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - Sanchez Dick & Guendouzi just doesn’t sound right mate you might need to rephrase that lol. But I hear what your saying, 500k a week or whatever he’s on is a ridiculous and profoundly tempting sum, to be fair most people would have been seduced by that carrot that was dangled.

22 Aug 2018 08:50:36
Dick Sanchez 'ouzi?

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2018 13:34:43
Ouzi Dick Sanchez.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2018 07:50:38
Um does sound a bit dodgy doesn't it :-)
500k is a lot of money but when your already have more than enough money to last your lifetime is it really worth wasting your career for a few dollars more mate?
Your a long time retired once your football career ends.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - that’s my point mate more money to spend when your retired. But not many players would imagine that going to United will make you crap overnight so it was a win win situation for him I’m assuming. I just think they need to play him on the right and he will shine again.

22 Aug 2018 19:24:04
I think they need to let both Sanchez and Pogba go so they can get back to playing real football again while United just carry on as usual post Fergie.
What's it's been 5 years since Fergie retired? And I don't think they've averaged one decent game per season since he left, they don't need Pogba and Sanchez for how they go about the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2018 01:18:15
Guendouzi has been immense since his first friendly match. A real find let’s be honest. If he was that big a surprise then the first find (the one from PSG) who turned us down must have been an amazing player by comparison.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2018 01:25:34
Imagine if Sanchez had any idea about the transformation the team is going through. The players who have been signed the management and training changes.
Do you think he might be thinking. Christ staying might have been a good option.
Ok I know he wanted out and yes ok it was City. But do you think considering he hasn’t settled and now he looks back down at Arsenal, he likes to win and he likes to be the main man, the adoring fans.
Seems his salary has overshadowed everything even his own form adding more expectation and burden than he had at Arsenal. I reckon he’d still be shining at Arsenal if he was here.
But . he’s a greedy sod and deserves everything he gets lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - I reckon he won’t be at United next season.

The first 2 fixtures were extremely tough, so it will be interesting to see how we get on against West Ham at home. This is not only a match that we should win, but one that we have to win.
With the sales/ releases of Ox, Giroud, Sanchez, Coquelin, Wilshere, Cazorla, Meretesacker, Perez, etc., we reduced our squad strength. Yes, we brought players in, but there is still much more to do in terms of player recruitment.
Against West Ham, perhaps;
4-3-3
Cech
Lichtsteiner Holding Sokratis Monreal
Elneny Torreira Guendouzi
Welbeck Lacazette Aubameyang

I would drop Bellerin, Mustafi, Ozil and Mkhitaryan, who have all performed poorly so far this season.
I would strengthen the midfield from a defensive point of view with the 3 players selected, whilst providing an attacking front 3, full of pace.

21 Aug 2018 17:44:55
Its all opinion but i wouldn't have holding or al ninny, welbeck in the front three (no creativity) don't agree with but me i would be happy with a 1-0 win. Any win would be great but a clean sheet would the icing on the cake and a boost to confidence. Like it or not our two best central defenders today are mustaffi and socratis. My mid three would be ramsey in with torreira and Guendozi too break from deep and either myki or ozil would have to play with lacca, and auba. As long as bellerin, xhaka and either or myki and ozil are not playing we should be more solid and more on the same wavelength. Our season starts saturday, the last two game did at least provide loads of answers.

21 Aug 2018 17:50:01
This would be my team
Leno
Lichtsteiner two Greek guys Monreal
Torreria Guendouzi
Nelson Ramesy Aubameyang
Lacazette

Give the youngsters a go they can be any worse than Mustafi and Ozil and Micheal terrain.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2018 01:35:57
Cech still stays for me. Just for stability.
Would like to see Leichsteiner start at RB or LB depending on Nacho fitness or If Dick decides Bellerin needs a rocket up his hole.
Sokratis seems ok a tad slow but very understanding of the game and perhaps has aided Mustafi and I’m really not a fan of Mustafi. He and Koscielny had an unbeaten partnership of 14 games I think when he first signed, maybe it’s an understanding partner ( and a midfield shield he really needs)
Time for Guendouzi and Torreira to be the midfield base, we all see it. Ramsey in front. I don’t think he’s as much as a goal threat anymore but has reasonably good link up play.
Laca on the left auba on the right and ozil on the right, replaceable for Welbeck. Time for defensive stability I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - Douzi, Torreira and Ramsey seem like a very decent axis to me mate. I would sack Cech off ASAP he looks totally uncomfortable playing out from the back in my opinion. Leno should be your No 1.

21 Aug 2018 14:28:33
What you lads think we should do with Ramsey? Love the guy, but no one is bigger than the team.

We can't afford another Alexis saga imo.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2018 15:06:42
We should do whatever is best for arsenal, Ramsey hasn't done enough on a consistent basis to be holding this club to ramsom and messing future plans up. Another big payrise to a player who is not deserving of one could mess up the chance of boosting the squad in january just fpr starters. I all ready think ozils wages are having an impact on who we can get in. Plus does or did he deserve what this club are paying him. I personally wouldn't be too upset if he left rather than line his packet full of unwarranted cash.

21 Aug 2018 16:05:16
What have we paid Aaron over the years? Say an average of 50k a week for 8 years?
Try and get our 20 million back if we can but if not hey ho learn from the experience and don't allow ourselves to get in this situation again in the future.
Aaron had some tough times in his early Arsenal career with both injury and being fans most disliked player (he got loads of unfair stick before his super season) But his one season wonder form won many fans over unfortunately it also made Aaron think he could live off that season topped up by his Euro 2016 performances, I think it's best for both club and player to part company asap because Aaron isn't a team player now days and we need players who are Arsenal focused.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Aug 2018 17:11:56
Ramsey is very overrated in my opinion and not worth huge wages. I mentioned some time ago that the wages we agreed to pay Ozil were absurdly high and would cause problems in future negotiations with other players.

21 Aug 2018 19:01:39
With the players we have, do we really really need ramsey?

Obviously very early days but I'm pleased to see both Darren Moore and Graham Potter make good starts in the championship with West Brom and Swansea.
It's getting tougher and tougher for young English managers to get a chance especially those who weren't international players, it would be good to see these two set a new trend of giving the unfashionable names a chance rather than clubs go for shorterm fan pleasing names.
Neither Mourinho or Wenger played at a high level but they seemed to make a fair stab of things back in the day and I'm sure there must be hundreds of young prospective young managers out their with new ideas just needing a to be given a chance above someone with 100 international caps but equally no management experience.

Apart from Pep, not one of the managers of top 6 is good players. Fancy names get lots of adultation just like celebrity kids.

Very true Stg mate, I'm shocked by the sheep like philosophy of so many clubs following the same old tired format until someone somewhere does something different that works and then it's all change everywhere.
Arsene started a French manager trend where other clubs thought! ah hiring a French manager is the way forward:-) why on earth would it be?
I think in many respects it's the same with a player and manager, the cv is only a guide and you should interview the person in font of you and make a decision based on what is really there opposed to being star struck and seeing and hearing what you want to see and hear.

Gunner, it doesn't matter how well our english managers do, the die is cast, they won't get top jobs.
