Love the commitment but we do need to learn to talk to each other more, quite a few times where two or more players going for the same ball, Olly and Theo especially.
Not a usual feature but it was noticeable tonight.

"Alexis Sanchez will not be back until the 10th of January or so. ".

21 Dec 2015 22:44:13
I think he just wants Christmas off :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 23:11:49
He deserves Christmas off. And if we can pull a lead before then we will be looking good.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 23:18:40
The good thing at the mo is we can rest him.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 23:39:59
As weird as it sounds, it will give the other players confidence and belief that we can win games without Sanchez.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 22:22:20
big big result tonight, we looked great at times . No excuses for City they have injuries, we have injuries also.
Kos is arguably the best defender in the league but Nacho and Ramsey we simply superb tonight, Monreal has been great for a while now. I'll post better in the morning am just over joyed, COYG.

Absolutely delighted. Great performance and result.

{Ed002's Note - It is a pity the the Arsenal fans didn't manage to force Wenger out like they wanted in the summer, then he could have been replaced vy the likes of Remy Garde and probably won be even more goals.}

21 Dec 2015 22:44:56
Not all Arsenal fans Ed.

21 Dec 2015 22:45:28
I think only the board could appoint someone like remy garde ed 02. That is a worry for the future.

At last we beat a rival in a crunch game. Great win must now make sure we are no worse and hopefully better of after festive period. At work so can't comment on game will see tomorrow. Sounded like we missed a few chances to kill the game though.

Was 50/50 until we scored, than we took over.
Very nervous last 10 mins.

21 Dec 2015 23:16:51
Managed to watch bbc, great goals though. I think theo is the key for this team going on. Spreads the game a bit more.

21 Dec 2015 23:13:58
We made it look harder than it was, the Sunderland game was harder.

21 Dec 2015 22:05:59
Can Jamie Carragher give us any less credit?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Dec 2015 22:12:55
He is spot on about Giroud - not world class but difficult to improve on and adds a lot to the team

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 22:18:58
Not sure he likes Yaya!

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 22:19:31
Jamie Carragher literally makes me puke, we are apparently no better than last year and all other teams are weaker. Jeez he talks out of his Arsenal.

So we now have one of the best keepers in the league, arguably the best full back pairing in the league, one of if not the best centre backs in the league, with on form the best DM in the league.

Let's add the best number 10 in the league along with Aaron Ramsey, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud.

Yeah right Jamie you bitter twonk. This is what makes me laugh when people say we'll never have a better chance when our squad and team is only going to get better.

Agree3 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 22:28:50
Giroud s problem up to this season has been his place has never been in jeopardy, now we see Walcott playing through the middle he has upped his game it's more about thecqualityvaround giroud, than him himself, the whole team has improved and in such so has giroud, he will never win a game on his own, them players are few and far between now as tactics in football have moved on, when u see the teams performance dip due to tiredness or lack of confidence u will also see his performance dip! He is a good forward and he rarely sores a sitter, he may miss a lot but he is in the positions to miss which is more importantly! I think carragher just has to be negotive because it's boring tv if booth commentators agree on every point, he looked awkward saying some of the things he was saying!

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 22:30:09
Agreed red dog we are better this year and cech is undoubtedly a great reinforcement. But the competition is lower this year, but you can only beat what is put in front of you. I like carra and he is sometimes hard to listen to especially when he never takes the socks out of his mouth lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 22:43:13
Jamie carragher will what ever he says be judged as a pundit at the end of the season. If he makes himself look a fool then people will let him know. If he's proved right then someone wipe that smug grin off his face, he was a shite defender anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 22:00:53
Let's put our hands together for Joel Campbell he is becoming a great player, hard working and can play a bit. Big apology to mertesaker who I have been very critical of. He is playing very well and the critics have been silenced. We made it look harder than what it was! A moment of class from yaya and it looked a bit dodgy for a while. Overall though it was a dominant champions performance and guys we are not at full strength.

So it has to be our year and I have the utmost respect for the foxes, Leicester have a tough Xmas run and we have a modestly easy run. So if they are level on points come new year we have to seriously accept them as deserved challengers.

21 Dec 2015 22:15:36
Shouldn't have taken off ozil for oxlade I felt. With Ozil in the middle, we wouldve had a little bit more of the ball and maybe staged 2-0, we really need Jack back soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 22:17:13
He's as one footed as Paul Davis but he works his bloody socks off and adds pace. Hope he continues his journey as he really wants to succeed with us

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 22:14:21
Also giroud is lethal fact and Walcott isn't that little scared person anymore he is confident and mature the boys are growing into a real team.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 21:55:37
Big big result - should have been home and dry given our chances.
Ozil put a huge shift in
Per and Kos were awesome
Great finish from Theo who had a strong game while Joel is slowly winning me over with his displays
Should never have conceded - Citu deserved nothing
Really don't like the oil backed clubs who buy success - good we beat them
Well played boys!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Dec 2015 21:32:27
Games not over yet, but it has to be said we suffer loads of injuries, but with out then bellerin would not have got his chance and nor would Campbell! Players need a run of games, bet our squad looks a lot stronger now, than it did!

21 Dec 2015 20:50:11
Come on arsenal. predicted 2 v 0.id take it now. long way left in dis game. win this and I think we can lift the title. being greedy Ramsey and Walcott next.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Dec 2015 21:01:21
The story so far is that we can defend and city can't . I predicted 3. Ozil is in a different world. He is to the assist world what ronaldo is to the goal world, no one is in his league.

Next massive game tonight, not necessarily a must win but definitely a must not lose. Man city find it harder to beat us than us them and that has to carry on to give us a chance of staying in this title race for the next few months. We have players in form and we have pace to use. Both city and us have shown a tendancy to crumple in big games in the recent years, i think a win in this game could give that team the edge to push on, with the state of the prem at the moment. Funnily enough, we are probably in a stronger place at the moment, team wise than citeh, we seem to have more balance than them at the moment. Still going for 1-1 though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Dec 2015 15:05:48
Think they have only beat us once at home in 19 attempts.
Feel confident, but 2-2 keeps popping in my head.
Might give it a good shake and see if 2-1 pop's up.

Nope, 2-2.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 15:43:20
3-0 to the Arsenal tonight, they are very beatable and we need to go hard and fast like we did against United and as crap as United have been their defence is statistically better than city's.

Not Arsenal related but did anyone see that run Neymar did against river platé in the club world cup? It was as good as anything you'd expect from messi, took on 4 players the got a penalty, I'd prefer him to ronaldo (I know I'm going to get a load of stick for that) for me ronaldo is well too egotistical, real won 10-2 yesterday with bale and benz scoring hat-tricks but he just seemed annoyed that he didn't get the lime light, I don't like that in a player it's a team sport not individual, when you watch Neymar at Barcelona he celebrates every goal they score whether he scores or someone else does, proper team player IMO. If we ever had the money to sign him it would be a no brainer and he's only 23! He's still got 7-8 years of prime time football left in him. IMO he is the second best player in the world with messi being the best.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, Ronaldo was annoyed with the crowd mate, they were booing the team even before the game kicked off.}

21 Dec 2015 10:34:57
So you wouldn't want ronaldos goal record at arsenal. Ronaldo leaves Madrid you will see them struggle abit I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 10:45:53
I'd rather have Messi, Saurez and Neymar than that total tool Ronaldo.

He looks the same every game, you watch Messi, Saurez and Neymar play as a team then you watch the Ronaldo show.

No comparison.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 12:24:03
Them three are great. At times ronaldo has done it on his own at real for what 6 seasons. Recently broke the group goals record in champs league. he's also carried Portugal who are not that great. Same as zlatan tbh. Both are quite selfish but incredible.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 13:35:38
Derby people on this site have tried to knock ronaldo, pep, and maureen, saying they are not that good. Please please please, yes their attitudes might stink a bit and they might be single minded, but their ability is unquestioned. They are winners. that's why they have massive trophy rooms and dirty great big bank accounts.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 14:18:59
I have never questioned his ability, his goals to game ratio is beyond incredible but I prefer Neymar to ronaldo. I have never questioned Maureen's managerial ability either Steve, I loved and hated him when he was first here but his second stint he seemed far more bitter than charismatic, he seemed far more personal with his jibes and for those reasons he lot my respect as a manager. At the end of the day we all have our opinions, I would never turn ronaldo down if he was available but if I have the choice between the two I would pick Neymar.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 14:41:19
I don't think people question Ronaldo, Mourinho or Guardiola as far as ability goes and personally not seen many knock Guardiola but have to agree about Ronaldo as far as a team player and attitude go.

Just watching the front 3 at Barcelona love playing together is in total contrast to watching Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema. Almost like they've never met when celebrating with awkward hugs and high 5's and for me that's down to Ronaldo.

As far as Ronaldo goes I always think there is no I in team but there is a U in another four letter word.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 16:54:42
I think Gardiola is a very good manager and the Barcelona side he produced were amazing to watch, I've never seen a side work so hard yet still play gorgeous sexy football.
Gardiola Bayern for me are an extremely good side but haven't done it in the champions league dispite having an embarrassment of resources at their disposal so for me Pep hasn't excelled at Bayern.
He's an absolute gentleman and credit to the game both on and off the pitch but that doesn't hide his record in Europe since going to Munich.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 16:58:44
If ronaldo went and neymar came in for me theyd be weaker. Goals record would be half.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 18:05:01
Ronaldo is a total tool but is still the second best player in the world and perhaps ever, Neymar is growing but as things stand he is still a few blocks away from ronaldo, but I would prefer barcas 3 over reals 3.

It's really hard to like CR7 been an ex United player let a lone been a complete arrogant goat blower.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 09:22:57
So no kompany later. The guys key for them. Massive plus for us. So who starts uptop grioud? Walcott plays also but on the right?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Dec 2015 09:45:37
I think it will be Theo right and Olly down the middle, although I'd go Ox right Theo down the middle but then again I'm a strange person.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 10:00:15
Brilliant news, they are nowhere near as good at the back without kompany, add Zabaleta to that injured back 4 and happy days.

2-2 for me.

21 Dec 2015 10:10:24
Yeah I think 2 2 too Dags :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 11:22:43
If and its a big if, Sanchez is 100% fit I'd be tempted to play a front 3 of Sanchez, Walcott and AOC.

But Giroud is in great form so it's a difficult one which should be made easy by any remaining doubt over Sanchez.

As g62 has said, let's not chance him if the slightest doubt.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 12:25:22

In the great manager merry go round what's happens to Pelgrini?
He's one of the good guys of football IMO who seldom has a bad word to say about anyone win lose or draw.
Hope things go well for him wherever he goes next, unless Real take Poch and Pelgrini takes over spurs, then I hope he's relegated by next November of course :-)
I think he's been a credit to the premier league and personally I'd like to see him win the champions league anr finish up runners up in the premier league this season before he's sacked.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Dec 2015 10:02:53
Very decent manager, in terms of character and attitude, the polar opposite to Mourinho.
City job is always a poisoned chalice, but Pellegrini is a credit to the Prem.

That said, hope we stuff them tonight and they sack him :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2015 11:27:25
Dags do you think we look on the managers job at other clubs like City as a poison chalice simply because of the longevity of Wenger.

All the big clubs now want silver ware and like City, Chelsea, Madrid etc are happy to keep swapping managers if they keep winning Silver ware.

These days a year without a trophy is enough to get you the boot. Wenger as much as I understand how it happened and because he made the agreement with the board will probably be the very last of the long term managers.
