Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

21 Feb 2014 22:56:25
The media always seemed to have an agenda against us, but this season, they've really upped the attack.

This morning, pictures emerged from
The ground of Flamini and Jack having words, and after flam walks away, Sagna has his arm around Jack, who looks confused.

This of course led to rumours that Flamini now not only hates Özil, but hates Wilshere too.

Really, I mean. really?

Jacks response was fantastic to be fair, posted a cheesy pic of him and flam on the coach, pretending the not so big, but certainly bad Frenchman had chinned him.

Worded with "Flamini wasn't happy today when I got on the coach!"

Followed by something along the lines of "it's all made up, besides, why would I start a fight with Flamini? He's
Mental!"

(That bit made me chuckle!)

The media just don't seem to like us!

Wenger said a few hours back Özil hasn't recovered from that penno, and that he's said if Arteta is on the pitch, he says he doesn't want to take anymore.

He then pulled a fantastic Bergkamp reference/comparison in "Beegkamp missed a penalty in 1999 and refused to take another one after that, and tomrrow, he gets a statue.
I believe Özil has class and over time, class will always show, I hope one day he has a statue here and I'm still good enough to come and see him"

Magic from the boss.
I'm no behind the scenes, sporting coach, etc etc and I've doubted Wenger before.
And he's aaaaalllways proved me wrong (except for that time I met him in a cafe and we got into a punch up over which sauce to have with a fry up, ITS HP BROWN ARSENE!)
So I have no reason not to agree with what he says!
(I already did in honesty, I believe that he doubters will be worshiping the ground he walks on this time next season)

I just really hate the fact people and sources try to make it seem we aren't a unit, that the players don't get on.
Christ, this bunch of lads contain some great groups of friends and I don't think morale or unity has been this high in years.

Did any of you see the picture of Per taking the mick of Giroud's hotel incident?!
Fantastic.
Poldi, Flamini, Özil all creasing watching him.
The lads all seem to be friends, and any spats on the pitch are left on the pitch.
People saw Özil and Mat having words on Wednesday evening, and all if a sudden the media start saying how they hate each other and Özil is the laziest player ever, etc. even though, you know, he covered the third highest amount of ground all game, playing with 10 men for the majority, being forced to defend and track back, something he's not used too, after playing 180 minutes in the previous 6 days. yeah, what a lazy sod.

We all get caught up in the media's rubbish during the transfer windows, but if anyone is, don't get involved in it this time!

Great post.

Got a few Millwall mates and to use their mantra

"no one likes us, we don't care".

The press, the pundits et al really do not want our Arsenal to succeed.

Tomorrow we kick on.

Be lucky

ps Jenny a very articulate and thought provoking views to my post yesterday about players having bottle. Fair play to ya. We all love our club and this site gives us all the opportunity to view our opinions and listen to pros and cons, again good post.

pps

going for a tight 1 0 to us with Kos first goal.

It's me, your friendly scouse (caribbean) neighbour. I asked this question on our page a few weeks back and would be interest in your answers (dags etc.).
If you could have any player, in their prime, from your past to add to the current squad who'd it be. I'm too young to remember the likes of Adams or even Bould but maybe Fabregas, Bergkamp, Vieira? Personally think Henry in his prime would make you guys almost unbeatable. That pace, finesse, finishing. Favourite non-Liverpool player. Anyway, thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good Evening Fitz,

Hope you and family are ok.

I think you asked and answered your own question there mate.
For me, Thierry is such a legend and would fit into this Arsenal team like a glove.

He loves Arsenal and Arsenal, including every supporter, loves him.

What a team we would have if he was leading the line.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - surely you don't need anyone else when you have Super Nik? The world's greatest striker sat on the bench!

Incidentally, I managed to complete FUT in just 3 days, I built The Ultimate Team. I now have Bendtner and 10 others, though I am not sure I need the other 10!}

Thats funny fitz because henry relished spanking you guys, he always gives 100% against you even said so himself :P

but yeah truth be told with poldi on the left and walcott on the right with ozil behind him. henry would probably outscore suarez

i have a soft spot for that little person owen, so he'd be my pic from past lpool players

Agree0 Disagree0

Thierry Henry is the obvious choice. He had it all for a striker. Pace, skill, he could pass a ball awareness everything. More importantly when he played he put fear up the other team and more often than not he would occupy 2 players at a time which would leave the opposition as if they were playing with 9 men. Yes I think he would be my choice. Fabulous footballer.

Agree0 Disagree0

ED001,

Are you taking the pi55? lol
(Anyway, there's nothing wrong with super Nic, as long as he is injured lol).

ps, nah Ed, you only need Bendtner mate, he's a one man team is super Nic,

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - me? Would I? I am hurt that you could possibly think such a thing.}

Good to see Ramsey get another training session under his belt He could well be back for the 2nd leg

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hope you are right, but Physio Room updated a couple of days ago showing Ramsey coming back 22nd March!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fully fit Ramsey on the 22nd would be brilliant for the run in and for the Chelski game that day

Sooner the better, we miss Rambo bigtime

Ozil will play for sure tomorrow, why wouldn't he, he is a £42 million player who has missed a pen? yes his form has dipped but putting him on the bench will do him no good.

Arteta will be back as he has just rested, so will Giroud after him being disciplined on Wednesday night .

And poor old podolski will again be on the bench

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Feel so sorry for Pod. Top class player

Agree0 Disagree0

Both wrong Pod started and Ozil was in the stands lol

Massive game tomorrow. Must win game.

I have questioned the "World class " tag that is associated with Ozil but nobody wants him to succeed more than me.

Love the guy to bits and proud he is a Gooner but just a little disappointed in him at the moment.

He needs to get his confidence back, he needs to find his mojo.
If he plays tomorrow he needs his team-mates more than ever.
Every time they get the ball, they should look for Ozil and pass to him. They need to make him feel special, feel loved and than we may see the best of him.

Like I said, massive game tomorrow.Massive for the club, massive for the supporters, massive for our titles ambitions and massive for Mesut Ozil.

Lets hope we all succeed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I totally understand what you are saying and I think we are yet to get any reward for the 42 mill.

But I will judge him in 12 months, let Ozil have a full season under his belt, the PL is very tough, look at the last few games, imagine Madrid playing Liverpool, Man U, Liverpool and then Munich, tough isn't it.

One advice I would give to Ozil is, change your style of penalty taking, then maybe you might take some pressure off yourself

I think we will get 3pts tomorrow but it will be tough, we also might be top of the league

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post DG
Confidence when you have it is invaluable but when you don't every thing is 100. times more difficult. Excuse the analogy Jenny
But when your young free and single and you haven't gone home alone for 4 weekends running and last week you woke up in between a hot 40 year old mother and her 20 year old daughter your confidence is sky high with the ladies and its a case of
" excuse love if I don't pull anything better by 2 am can I take you home"
But when youve been dumped by the love of your life and haven't scored for 4 months its
" if I send you flowers and chocolates get to know your parents and friends first then could in about 6 months time can I buy you a drink"
Ozil just needs to find a hot 40 year old and all will be great :-):-):-)

Agree0 Disagree0

G62,

Mate, now that's what you call an analogy, lol.

PS, I think that analogy would be more appropriate for Olly Giroud, lol

This site is about opinions and all our opinions are different. Regarding ozil, what ever you feel his impact has been the team has improved with him flamini and sanogo we are better off in the league than we have been for years. Personally I thought ashavin was pure class and I also think ozil is and we seem to be going down the same road. These players do their best work in the final third and you don't always see what they are achieving when the end product doesn't come off. What people don't always see is that sometimes they do some things that others are not capable of doing and that is what wins things. For example the turn in the box for the penalty by ozil was Bergkamp esk and people only remember the bad. He can do that and the likes of flamini can't but you need your flaminis too. let's get behind them and let's see where we finish.

Sorry to bang on about it ( Ed's and everyone)

The Ozil support has climbed to 85% positive :-)
Ok we can't make 100% but how close can we get?

I don't have a twitter or face book account but any one who follows Mesut on them, I'm not sure how it works but if possible send him a message and you might just get him to check out the love on this page for him.
He may never get the message you send, but what if he does? And scores tomorrow!
We could be hero's for just one day :-) :-) :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think we need to see something nice from him to push us that extra 15%

though i'm hoping this weekend will change things, sunderland as much as I don't want to underestimate them, will give him some room to dazzle I hope.

saying that though, every season when a team plays a relegation threatened side people get edgy, because a wounded cornered animal is at its most dangerous or whatever the analogy is, and this season we have maybe 10 wounded animals in the league, and two top class predators.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a feeling Wenger will drop Szczesny tomorrow, as punishment for his petulant, but amusing sign after he was sent off. So Fabianski in goal.
Usual back four with Monreal in for the injured Gibbs. Arteta & Flamini in front of the back four.
Cazorla, Ozil & Podolski with Giroud back up front.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I had a feeling he may do the same. Especially as he might want to give Fabianski a run of games before Munich.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Fab Out of contract at the end of the season? I think so, might be good for his career, though I doubt that's a priority for arsene.

after the cup tie I was actually not stressed about fabianski coming on vs BM.
something I couldn't have said about an arsenal keeper in a long time, even manone is doing well, and probably a starter tomorow

Just had a little vote on the Poll page, anyhoo, it got me thinking, what about, Flamini for captain?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rather have mertesacker, but I think both will be very able captains.

Just had a quick look at voting poll on Ozil on this page, the votes for him % has increased since Wednesday.Brilliant, support!
If you haven't voted yet please do and even though i'm sure he doesn't read this page let's send out the best vibe we can to him.
Maybe some one who knows him will make him aware of it,

Scenario one
We back our record signing through this difficult period by singing his name making him feel wanted and he goes on to help us become EPL champions and Chamions league champions ( same season would be nice :-) we love him forever

Scenario two
He leaves us a failure who fears facing his home fans but is given a life line by Chelski city Liverpool or utd their fans back him and they go on to win EPL and Champions league and love him forever. We get to boo him even louder when he returns with his new team and call him a traitor and finish 4th again and blame everything on the manager.

Ozil will come very very good again our only choice in that mater is for us or some one else

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2014 16:47:39
It's such a shame that only 6 months into the season people on Twitter, which I never use, have made great fans like yourself gunner62 even have to ask about scenario two.

It's life gone crazy, the guy is human, he was gutted he missed, he had no intention of missing and has berated himself since.

I'm sure the team is going to pick him up, dust him off and getting him playing a blinder against Sunderland.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very well put. right now it is extremely important that we stand by Ozil, along with all our players, to show them that the fans have their support. Without it, we will go trophy-less again.

it's been to often that the fan base have turned on a player (e.g. Arshavin, THE BEST PLAYER TO EVER PLAY Bendtner) and it has really screwed with them. Ozil is meant to be the foundation of our team for years to come. Support him and it will only help us challenge this year along with many years to come. One superstar attracts another; Ozil's involvement at Arsenal will have other players itching to play for the gunners.

SUPPORT OZIL!

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenny OH equally great posts of support from real supporters who want what's best for Arsenal and every player. The more he struggles the louder we have to sing his name in support, if he hits a pass that's to long chants of Ozil Ozil should fill the Emirates. If we given him magnificent support now I'm sure he will reward us with magnificent memories that will last a life time in the years to come

Agree0 Disagree0

To me the answer to the ozil question is in the teams position.
We have been without ramsey for about 10-15 games, Gibbs has been in and out like a fiddlers elbow, Jack has only played about half the games, Rosicky has had nose problems (?) and missed some vital games, Walcott has missed all but a handful of games and the ox has only just started his season.

YET here we are at the top(ish) of the league - with MO being just about on the pitch permanently since he arrived, every game he has to play with different players alongside - does he moan? NO he gets on with it.
He is a quality player who makes us MUCH better when he's playing.

GOLDBOY,

Answering you here as the OP is a way down the page, I do appreciate that Sanogo has come from nowhere, that he had a career threatening injury but despite that had a great U21 tournament for France, thus Arsene brought him here for free with a year to prove himself.

He plays a game and low and behold he gets an injury, in that game I think a few described him as Bambi on Ice.

He has spent the best part of 5 months or so recovering from injury, not what we hoped for, but and a big but, it's apparent that he has worked his socks off, not just to get fit but get stronger, he definately looks bigger. I think he has taken on board what it means to be a gunner, has been caught up with the thrill of our continued fight on 3 fronts and no doubt has caught the infectious will to win from his compatriots, Koscielny and Flamini.

The Liverpool game he gave their 2 CB's plenty to think about, we won the game.

Our next game is Bayern Munich, options, Giroud who I think even you said couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo and who mentally is struggling. Podolski and I'll say it again, showed last season that striker is his weakest position, then we had the option of Bendtner who doesn't feel me with confidence if I'm honest.

Bayern would have been expecting Giroud, probably their two CB's would have thought, result.

So Arsene decides on Sanogo, he was up for it, he is not slow and he has looked more skillful than the other 3. I have a honest opinion that he will come good and be better than some believe. I think he warranted playing against a side regarded as the best and one we stood toe to toe with until the sending off.

The problem he is up against is simply that most want a Cavani, Aguero, Balotelli or their like to lead the Arsenal line, I do, but at the same time for a young guy from nowhere to make the mark he has in just a couple of games leads me to believe he will come good.

Just my opinion Golds :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great post Jenny 100% bang on.
Sanogo was looking good at the start of the Bayern match and who knows may have been a hero with a goal or two had it remained 11v11.
The kid did well against Liverpool and even better against Bayern, I think he could play a big part in the run in for us.
Could he be the reason Arsene didn't go for a short term fix in the window? Berbatov at the end of his career Sanogo at the start of his, i'm not saying that is the reason but might just prove to be great bit of non business after all

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenny,

Surely the fact that you have to mention all the reasons why our Strikers shouldn't be playing as striker for the Bayern game is more worrying. The lack of quality up front is shocking. A team competing for the Premier League shjould be able to play any of their strikers without concern that they won't perform!

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenny I really hope you turn out to be right and I have made an awful judgement honestly I do. Time will tell.!

AWRAWA,

I think we all know that an up and running top quality striker is a must for a club as big as we are. We've known all season our striker options have been limited which has without doubt been a worry.

Liverpool and City's goal difference is testament to what top quality strikers bring.

My post was just in relation to Yaya and his possibilities. Most as I said, including me, hope that the summer will see a top quality striker arrive, until then what do we do?

I'm just of the opinion that he has great potential and will surprise some.

Team for Sunderland:

Back five picks itself, especially as Gibbs is injured.

Szczesny
Sagna
Mertesacker
Koscielny
Monreal

Midfield is a different story.
Flamini is essential and although he ran himself into the ground on Weds, he did have a three game break with his suspension. Personally I don't like Arteta partnering him and would prefer Wilshere in there.

The three infront of the striker will probably be Cazorla, Ozil and Oxlaide-Chamberlain.

Wenger will keep faith in Ozil as he will want him to "get back on the horse" and restore some of that form he was starting to build.

AW has said that Giroud will come back in for Sanogo and let's hope he has something to prove following his off field issues.

I'm going for a 2-0 win and a Chelsea draw to go back to the top of the table!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2014 17:47:33
Totally agree with Ozil playing, only one I'm not sure will play is the Ox, ran himself into the ground against Bayern which may see Rosicky start ahead of him.

Arsene said as part of rotation Giroud will be back hence I think Ox will be rested.

Another big game as they are playing well.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2014 13:44:01
Ozil misses a penalty, everyone is shocked. Noone goes to console him, everyone just stands there stunned. Alaba then misses a penalty, Mandzukic runs up to him, pats him on the shoulder and mutters some encouragement and everyone jogs back to their positions.

Attitude of champions!

We need to get behind Ozil and make sure he gets his belief back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2014 15:06:58
Rue,

Not sure if you missed it but the ball I'm pretty sure stayed in play and the players went to get or keep it in play.

You see Ozil himself move as if another attack is going to happen.

Think it was circumstance rather than players not going up to him.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2014 11:42:52
If the reports about Kheidra being made available in the summer are true, does anyone here think there would be any interest from Wenger? Also, will Arteta move on at the end of the season or will he be allowed to remain at the club for another season or two?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not ITK, but everything seems point to Khediera being a 'Mourinho' player. Shame because he is as good as it gets in that midfield role. From rumours of previous bids over the past couple of years and the current team set up my guess is AW is looking to replace Arteta's position with a 'quarterback': a Pirlo or Xavier Alonso or Gerrard (under Rodgers) type of player. Someone mobile who can disrupt play and pass from deep to bypass the midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not certain but I think khedira has been a bit plagued by injury for the last few seasons. Not sure I'd take him over someone like Schneiderlin, Bender or Matuidi

Ozil is a superb player, who lifted the team & the supporters when he arrived. let's show him how much we value him and get right behind him when we play tomorrow.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

100% Robbie! I remember when Ramsey was 'The Worst Player on Earth' (tm) in some fans eyes and now they think he's the dogs b*******. Özil needs time and support. We need to support our players on the pitch and give him a lift & remind him why he wants to be here and win trophies with the Arsenal!

Wenger: "Bergkamp missed an important penalty in 1999, and refused to take anymore penalties, he gets a statue today, or tomorrow."

Also he said that he will be dealing with Szczsney internally because "we don't agree with that."

Classy Wenger, very classy.

So this weekend is the return of the Ice Man.

No, not the top gun guy, possibly one of, if not the greatest player to ever wear an Arsenal shirt, the non-flying Dutch master Dennis Bergkamp.

I posted the picture of the statue on here a few weeks back but I am very excited to see it in the flesh. or stone?

I'm going to the Sunderland game and I'm excited to see DB10 at the unveiling (I am assuming he will be there?!)

Then thoughts turn to Sunderland and the return of Don Vito Mannone. He's really excelled at Sunderland and I expect him to be pumped up and ready to perform but I see us prevailing eventually winning 2-0.

Come lads, let's get behind Ozil in a massive way this weekend. He needs our support now more than ever and we must not forget how other players and teams view our behaviour as fans.

We need to create an atmosphere that players feel they can express themselves freely and without constant judgement. It reflects badly on us as a club and will not attract foreign big name players if the crowd remains so impatient.

We are Arsenal and stand for class and style, so we as fans should exhibit these attributes at all times. Its a very long and hard season and unfortunately we are making things harder for the players not easier.

We are not Chelsea or City fans that have only started supporting our team since the money has flooded in. We have been there through the good & bad times and will continue to support this team no matter what. So. you see there is really no point in being negative because we will continue to support the team anyway.

Ozil is a good player and a player who could attract other good players so let's but a positive message across to everyone in football about how we as fans will lift our players when they are struggling.

If you were Ozil, how would you want the fans to treat you?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great post PTG - we almost ruined Ramsey and now what a gem. let's get OZil back on track too - even higher upside.

Also, if we support him when he is down he will be a Gunner for life - even when the plastics come calling

Let's do this!

Agree0 Disagree0

Top Top, Top shout, PGT
Its obvious this lad needs support, and gentle encouragement, he is not the type to respond to bully booing, infact, no player does, its not Wenger’s way either, So, following on from PGT, We are Arsenal, Get behind our team, Our manager, and this time, against Sunderland, get behind Mesut, lift him up, make him feel wanted, be the 12th man, let's face it, who in there right mind responds to getting shouted at, boo'd at and otherwise abused I dont, I bet 100% of the forum user don’t either, conversely, an arm round the shoulder and a c’mon mate, you can do better works wonders.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we can not back our players when they need us most then we can't complain when they leave us at their best!
We can't have it all one way.
Back Ozil or in future look forward to signing hopeful kids forever.
The only way forward for our club is TOGETHER

Both players left their feet without having touched the ball

As both player are in the air, Robben makes contact just before Shezza gets there

He hence has to flick it to the side and not at goal

Shezza still does his best to avoid Robben, but makes contact as he's midair

His intent as he left his feet was the ball and not impeding Robben

Yes I can see how in a split second that is a red to some refs

But if it was Madrid, Barca, Milan or Bayern, and not us, it's a yellow and a pk at most. Anyone screaming red would be considered the minority

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more on which clubs are favourited. Still annoyed by that van Persie card for 'kicking the ball away'. UEFA likes it showcase teams, its golden boys.

The rule is a joke. Especially for a keeper, who is by definition last man back. I can see why it was given a PK, although I don't agree it was. But that's all, not a cardable offense. The same rules should apply for giving a card wherever on the pitch you are, it's the action that is the offense, not the geography on the pitch. The keeper has to be able to challenge the ball, as does the striker.
