Trip down memory lane -

The year was 2011, the scene was set a tie against Barcelona. We fell behind to a David Villa goal but battled back in the last ten minutes with Van Persie's volley and Arshavin's late counter attack goal assisted by Nasri. At the Camp Nou, we ended up going out due to a 3-1 loss. I remember that night well. We were arguably robbed by the decision of Van Persie's sending off and who can forget Cesc's failed maradona turn on the edge of 18 yard box resulting in Messi's famous chip goal. We did not have a shot on target that night, we went out 4-3 on aggregate to the Barcelona side everybody looks to for the tika-taka legacy. Djoruou played that night at the Camp Nou, so did Bendtner. We lost to a side that would complete the treble and go down as one of the greats. Let's bring some hope and option to the Camp Nou after Tuesday. Even though we have an improved side, especially defensively, Barcelona boast perhaps the best attacking players in the world right now. We will need to be at our very best. Let's look forward to Tuesday fellow gunners.

And Bendtner fluffed an easy chance in dying minutes that could have seen us go through.

Ahhh, memories :-)

Didn't we also set a new record that night as the only champions league side to ever score without having a shot :-)
Our goal came from a corner resulting in an og if memory servers me right.

I've got a sneaky suspicion that it'll be 2-0 to us tonight, I couldn't tell you why but it feels that way to me so here's hopeing!

Barca played on the 17th and again yesterday. They were poor against Los Palmas yesterday. They would've easily lost against a better team. Suarez missed a few sitters as well, and Los Palmas had so many chances to score themselves. Seeing that, it makes me feel we'll create plenty of chances. They don't look as good as Bayern. It would've been nice to have santi cazorla for this match though.

They will win la liga I reckon by a few points at least.

Its not like we are on top top form and they are winning games still. Will be a good game no doubt but over two legs they will progress.

Fa cup tough draw for Chelsea but I think hiddink could Lift it again.

Bayern look strong. Alaba and lahm are back in full back positions no brainier.

I think we'll do well Tuesday Wesley and predict a 1 goal difference between the teams after 90 minutes, not sure which way the result will go or if it will be 1 0 or 2 1 or even 3 2 but I'm sure we will all be buzzing with optimism after the game.

We're at our best at home to big clubs now days Derby mate, I'm sure Barcelona will progress over the two legs but the home game will be a cracking match IMO.

Although we didn't need an extra match, with Wilshere and Cazorla nearing comebacks, I don't think it is as big a problem as initially thought.
I felt that we should have prioritised yesterday's match a bit more, as we have far more chance of winning the FA Cup, than even progressing beyond the next CL round. Yes, the Barcelona match is on Tuesday, but they also had a match yesterday and have to travel to London. In addition we have until Sunday to recover, before we play Man U. What will vindicate Wenger's team selection, will be positive results against Barca, Man U and Hull in the replay. Sanchez, Ox and Coquelin all could have done with more playing time. If we had started with Ox in place of Campbell, Coquelin in place of Flamini and Sanchez in place of Welbeck (who I would have brought on for the final 20 mins) , we may well have won the match.

I thought he did OK too Chris nothing mind blowing but OK, i certainly didn't see the master class performance from him some of the press and fans online are portraying him to have had, I some how missed those bits :-) .
Hull sat so deep he was allowed a lot of time on the ball to pick his passes some of which were very good but in and around the box I felt he lacked the intricacy and accuracy when under a bit more pressure, because of our style of play I think most players would need a little time to adjust and fit into it comfortably, I don't think he will be starting against Barcelona Tuesday night on the strength of his performance yesterday that's for sure mate and Aaron can sleep easy for a little longer yet :-)

What is odd mysti sweat pea is I don't think I've ever said that.
I can clearly remember saying how highly I rated Bellerin though. Maybe I did I'm not sure, I used to say a lot of things on here until u and a few others got ure knick naks in a twist.

Alright guys, how are you all? Seeing you are struggling to fit in the Hull replay, might be on 6th round day, if only we had such problems ha.
Was going to ask as I seen further down but where would you guys be if you'd signed Suarez? Man you must hate Liverpool for that now.

To be honest Welsh I think suarez would have been utterly brilliant for us, but I don't think he'd have been here long.

He was always going to end up at either Barcelona or real at some point.

Suarez, for me, is a very technical player, and makes gaps for others around him, hence daniel sturridge's goal figures when he was there. It's a question whether giroud or theo could make adequate use of that space as well as sturridge did if I'm really honest. Buying the availble sanchez gave us that creativity from deeper, and left us with giroud to hold up and press their defence. It's not ideal but it could be worse given what was available and who was shopping at the time.

Higuan would be my choice then and now purely for his attitude and the low amount of bull excrement he creates compared to suarez. He comes across as a more humble "wenger" player.

It was our own fault. The way we did the bid was shocking. Where would we be. i'd say 10 points clear.

Id scrap replays and I think it will happen soon. League cup semi neutral ground one leg.

If we win the reply I'd like us to draw Shrewsbury unless an upset happens and there knocked out of course.

21 Feb 2016 13:14:51
You'd have deff won the league at some point if Suarez was in your team, possibly more even on Europe he is that good us other players you'd attract with him but yeah I think he just wanted out of Liverpool and Barcelona would've come calling 1/ 2 years in. He doesn't seem the Wenger type of personality but I'm sure he's have sacrificed that for a title or two. Not actually seen too much of higuain if I'm honest.
Haha derby, the way we're playing atm it's prob on a level similar to league one so it would not surprise me.
Not sure bout replays, i like the tradition, I think it just should be everyone gets drawn in round one, might be bigger rounds but that way smaller clubs will get bigger clubs rather than say Merson seeded round 3 idea.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2016 15:24:50
Higuain in my view is top class striker.

Keep replays maybe until the quarter finals then? Do we have semi final replys now or? can't remember. And I'd stop having them at Wembley. It. kills the final hype if you play there game before.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2016 17:58:54
Higuain gets so much stick. For me he's a top striker.

Suarez always wanted to go Spain. Moving to us would of set him back two years and he ain't the youngest. I'm never worried about players leaving it's about who you replace them with

Dont seed any teams. Stop relays in the quarters onwards and go from there. No semis at Wembley or has that already been agreed? And one leg Carling cup semi.
