Saw John Terry at his Daughters school sports day today.

He was wearing his full PE kit in case she won.

Most people would agree that realistically the title race is a 3 horse race with Chelsea the favourites followed by ourselves and city.
Bearing in mind only one of the three can be champions no matter how well all 3 play.
Would you consider a season in which we are never out of the top 3 from August to May and never any more than 4pts a drift of the leaders at any stage during the season meaning we would go into game 37 still in contention for the title to be a massive improvement on recent years or is anything less than 1st place next season a total failure for us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jul 2015 05:23:32
no team has a birth right to the title. you can only try.

contending itself is the joy of the game. one team wins it and the rest go home looking into the year beyond.

every fan wishes it to be their team, so may the best team win.

now for some transfer updates.

and that's the news.

Ed001 enough of all this congratulations how is Ed003 or is it Ed033 I've forgotten which now but does Mrs Ed moving in mean he's up for eviction from the Big Ed house?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is in the UK now mate, living in your attic spying on your every move.}

21 Jul 2015 22:47:24
Haha love it ed :-) but yeah congrats matey!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - thank you dags and Essex.}

22 Jul 2015 08:57:32

22 Jul 2015 09:50:55
Congratulations ed

He's not growing weed in the attic by any chance

{Ed001's Note - he can't get weed to grow under tin hats yet. Thanks mate.}

So it seems as if szczesny is off to Roma on a season long loan and Ospina is staying put..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2015 21:09:03
Cech No.1
Ospina No.2.

Happy with that.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 22:38:59
Looks that way, for a season at least.

Though I can't see shezza going to roma and being first choice, then coming back to us to sit on the bench. Just don't see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 22:53:08
I read on the almighty Twitter (I know, I know) that he's off on loan, but Roma can buy him for €5m!

Assuming that it's not a load of rubbish (I said assuming!) then it seems crazy to me.
He's had his flaws 1 or 6 times, but he still shows a lot of potential at times.
I'm all for loaning him out, because Cech and Ospina are a great duo to have between the sticks, but surely Szczesny has a future with the club.

If that small clause is true, you have to wonder what Arsene and co know about Wojiech that we don't!

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2015 04:27:34
Perhaps we will unload both Szczesny & Ospina, to allow Martinez to come through and one of the younger keepers as third choice.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Jul 2015 10:26:38
Based on his few performances for the club, Martinez actually looks decent, much better than a 4th choice keeper. I'd like to see how he does week in week out on loan for another team. Alternatively, loaning Szczesny could be a great idea - look at what Courtois' loan at Athletico did for him

Man U have let it slip this evening that the mystery striker they will sign is Nicklas bendtner

Just agreeing terms and medical.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2015 18:37:11
can they afford him?

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 18:53:22
haha they wish they could sign him, at best they can land the likes of muller or ronaldo or bale...second string options at best.

Congrats on the engagement ed01, did you go down on one knee or just ask if she was free any Saturday in the next few months.;-)

Seriously, congrats mate and hopefully she won't keep you away from here to much.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - one knee of course, you have to do things right! And Saturdays are out, there is a game on! As for keeping me away from here, she is very helpful as an IT engineer.}

21 Jul 2015 17:51:46
Nice one ed it sounds like a match made and all that, I can't believe I forgot about Saturday's, but then it's now Friday nights, Saturday's, Sunday afternoons, Monday night football and then all the European nights, you're going have fun fitting a wedding in. ;-)

21 Jul 2015 18:16:53
Congrats Ed01, good news

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 20:33:26
But is she hot though?

Pictures or it's not true!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am biased mate, hardly going to say she is ugly am I? I think she is beautiful. Oh and thanks Ozil. Red Dog you have a point, but the good thing about being out here is the midweek games are on late, so we can get married and home in time for the game.....}

21 Jul 2015 22:40:33
Of course 001 was only messing about. I'm sure given the chance none of us would kick her off the chaise longue

21 Jul 2015 23:39:52
Congrats ed001

21 Jul 2015 11:23:34
Is there anything more to these Reus to Real Madrid rumours that have sprouted recently?, Ed?

If he goes to Madrid it had to be a statement of intent from Benitez that he wants to play Ronaldo down the middle, surely there's no way they'd sign an immense talent like Reus to have him on the bench.

Hope there's more to this. I think if this deal happens then Benzema to Arsenal could be almost a certainty. They do like selling to us to fund their big transfers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about the rumours, I know they are looking to sell to fund signings, but not sure who they are targeting.}

21 Jul 2015 15:06:23
Cheers mate! Fingers crossed its Reus... And it makes sense they would go for him

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 16:47:06
Hi ed are they looking to sell isco?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they were in the past, they are still willing to part with him if they can get the right players in with the money or in return.}

21 Jul 2015 08:53:44
Walcott has undoubtedly been offered huge money to go elsewhere in a year. That is what I expect him to do. We are one of the few teams if not the only one that would let him do it. I just hope it doesn't hang over us all season and cast a shadow that holds us back. This is our year!

Believable1 Unbelievable2

21 Jul 2015 13:58:09
Could see City wanting him as Navas' replacement if Navas fails to deliver again this season

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - isn't that why they signed Sterling?}

21 Jul 2015 15:02:59
I read that they planned to play him across the board? Left, behind the striker and on the right.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 16:29:52
I thought the were playing Sterling on the left where he played today and were looking to get Kevin De Bruyne to play the other side of Aguero.

That has immense potential as a front 3 for them.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 16:30:10
I thought Sterling was to replace Milner or even Nasri who used to play left when he was a regular starter but yeah true it could be Navas, he didn't have the greatest season last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 18:12:15
If City do land de Bruyne, a front 3 of him plus Aguero and Sterling with Silva just behind could be massive for them.

Lucky for us, they don't have a single decent DM between them, Delph is not good enough for the top 4, and their defence is shite. Classic Arsenal, actually!

21 Jul 2015 01:10:28
Hi guys, I have been following the site for years. Awesome, great job eds.

In regard to the contract talks with Walcott, I am not sure about whether it is worth being held to ransom again. I think it may time for Arsenal to take a stand and let him go.

Thoughts anybody?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2015 02:52:30
Welcome Dymond.

How do you know he is holding us to ransom?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 06:32:20
Clearly Walcott and his agent are tough and patient negotiators. I have always had a few doubts about Walcott, but he appears to have matured and finally looks the part. At 26 years of age he is entering his prime and every effort should be made to retain his services and extend his deal.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 07:18:31
Hi mate, this is what Walcott said a couple of days ago in Singapore.

"I’ve been in a lot of squads and this is one of the best that I’ve been involved in. I want to be a part of that. There’s something special in this group of players. We’ve got to keep this group together because I think that successful teams stay together for a long time."

I personally don't see him going anywhere.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 11:12:41
To use the same point that you used on somebody else earlier Red, Delph said he was staying loyal to Villa and not going to City.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 12:21:10
In answer to you TPG, what was Delph likely to win at Villa mate. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 12:58:34
I have to agree with Red, I think Theo will stay , he seems a patient fellow who seems to weigh his options up.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 13:53:46
Well Dags could have just used that same answer when you said the Delph thing then.

I think Theo's contract negotiations are more to do with his agent and the people behind him than him personally. If you read/hear any of his quotes on the matter, they leave things very open. It's like he's been told to say things like 'we'll see what happens' and 'I'm just focusing on my football for now' so that he doesn't weaken the negotiation stance between Arsenal and the Walcott camp - he can't exactly say he really wants to stay at the club because that will give the club the upper hand.

That's just what I think. I try not to talk too much about contracts but with Theo Walcott it always becomes such a saga that it seems inevitable.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 14:23:29
Of course he could TPG, but Walcott doesn't have to move to win anything, he just needs to be the best he can and make himself a first name on the team sheet, he seems up for it so I just don't see him leaving and don't really get why people make such a big thing of it.

This is a club most definitely on the way up and that last quote certainly gives the impression he wants to be part of it.

He seems like a genuinely nice guy looking to do the best for him, his only real link of a move has been to Liverpool and whilst I'm sure he would have other suitors should he come onto the market I am simply of the opinion he'll stay here.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2015 18:37:10
Think we absolutely should be holding onto him, though I don't think he deserves the >100k he's asking; had what, half a good season before getting injured after he signed the new contract?

Agreed that this stinks of agents. Parasitic bunch, they've fueled the money culture in footy

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2015 23:44:31
Lacazette confirms he is staying at Lyon (gutted).

Benzema/Higuain just won't happen.

Come on in Charlie, we need you.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2015 07:21:56
Delph said he wasn't going to City.

Lyon are at the Emirates next week, perfect time for him to have a look around. ;-)

I like your way of thinking.
