Just seen a report that Stan Bowles has 'a form of Alzheimer's'. Really sad news for a under rated & under capped player from a long time ago. But for guys my age we remember he could play a bit. Also a bit of a Jack the Lad.
My dear ol mum had this awful disease so I know how hard it is so my thoughts go to his family.

Absolutely mate, God bless him let's hope he gets all the help possible from those in and out of the game.
Fantastically skilful player and real character the game lacks so much today.
Charlie George Frank Worthington Duncan McKenzie and others all under used by England but always appreciated by football fans from every club.

Honey badger.

Just thought I would introduce myself. I am J, short for Justin in fact.

I don't post as often as I would like to, which I am going to try to change this season.

Nice to meet you. And thanks for the nice comment further down.

Looking forward to the banter and if we all wish to get together sometime, the Man's and Gooner, happy to buy a drink or two for all who attend.

One more thing, Welcome to the family.

Thanks for the message and kind offer Justin, I was correct you are a gent!

Look forward to the discussion and banter going forwards. Would be good to see more posts from you.

Here's to hoping the clubs with history and support get back to their rightful place above the nuveau money clubs and we see United and Arsenal battling it out for the title each season 😊

G62.

This sounds like something that might be growing legs.

When would be best to maybe do it. After the season has started, or before it starts anew?

And I would be happy to accept a drink or two in return, Thank you.

Let me see when I might be able to get a weekend day free.

I'll update everyone then and see who is up for it.

Bagger, let the banter commence and looking forward to dome agreeing to disagreeing, or who knows, maybe agreeing once or twice. ;)

The fun is in the enjoyment that the banter creates.

G62, Days, I think I am going to be back a little more this year, the Mancs migrating looks like a good year ahead.

Respect to one and all.

Badger, I agree about the nouveau rich needing to be put back in the box.

If Cech is allowed to leave to Arsenal by Agronomic then he has shown some real class by keeping his promise. He will have earned my respect.

The gutter snipe Mourinho, a completely different view. A winner he may well be, but class he will never have. He is solely focused on himself, and how he is seen.

As you may have got, I dislike him intensely. I have come across a few similar in business.

A word on your team. I think Man U will be a very different team next season. Van Haal is a strong and very good manager. He will recruit well, have the team playing his formation and tactics. I think Depay could be a real talent. He and a second season Di Maria are a frighteningly scarey prospect. I think RVP needs to go. If I was you I would swap Rooney for Cavani , then go get a Defensive midfielder such as Schneiderlin, and Gooners I think we need Carvalho not Schneiderlin. I think we need a second Coquelin, the rest of our midfield is fantastic.

A centre back or two and a new right back and your talking.

Anyway, time will tell and it is only my initial opinion. :)

Is there a long term future at the club for both Jenks and Bellerin?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Jun 2015 18:57:33
God I hope so mate. Bellerin has been great this season and wenger doesn't seem to want to sell jenks. I can see bellerin attracting a lot of clubs if he has another good season. Barca will prob want him back

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 20:44:09
Jenks is definitely the answer to England's RB woes. Far better option than Jones showed himself to be. And to top it all off, he's an Arsenal fan. Biggest question in my head is how long Debuchy is likely to be on the scene...

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 23:51:06
We are overloaded at rb just wonder wether wenger sees debuchy saving him money at cb in sometime in the future. Jenks should have been in full England squad for sure. But what is woys thinking putting a donkey like jones at rb when he has a proper rb in clyne as well.

22 Jun 2015 08:41:19
Clyne Is englands solution at RB

I've heard a lot of people saying we need a world class cb but can anyone tell me a world class cb that's not tied down by contract and we have a realistic chance of landing?? If the right player isn't available u can be sure wenger will not spend.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

21 Jun 2015 13:05:09
I think the only thing that makes it unrealistic is the fact that wenger won't buy a CB. There's some great CB out there that if we wanted them could have a good chance of signing them.

Agree0 Disagree3

21 Jun 2015 14:03:46
Who?

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 15:24:15
There is no way we will buy a CB. Kos, Per, Gabriel, Monreal covers, Chambers, Debuchy has also covered. I don't see any of those leaving.

21 Jun 2015 15:26:27
Do you want a list?

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 15:45:24
Agree Gold, Not needed and not available.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 16:03:02
Browgun the problem is mate. There is no list. My point is anyone who thinks we will sign a world class cb are deluded. No one world class is available. Are u going to produce me this list then? Should be interesting.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 17:59:22
I certainly don't think we need one. But it's supply and demand as always. And tbh who in the general public knows who is available and who is not . If it was an area that we desperately needed someone I'm sure we could get someone of suitable quality. Who would have thought ozil and Sanchez were available.

So let's flip that for a moment and look at a striker. Some say we need one desperately. So what "world class" striker is available.......to us?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 19:10:47
Available is a covienent word sometimes like the 1st half of last season when people kept saying Arsene couldn't buy a DM in the summer because none were available.
I don't remember us making the Dutch bloke or Cesc or nasty nuts available but clubs wanting them made them available for themselves, Spyder will move this summer if Southampton get the right money and he would have been available last summer to albeit at a higher availability price.
The more you are prepared to pay the more available people soon become.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jun 2015 19:20:20
Suitable quality? Vague statement. Iwas talking in terms of contracts and are there any cb's that aren't tied down for years?

Basically if you want a world class cb at the mo you will need to pay stupid money. We haven't got that.

Still no list?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 20:56:26
I think your taking me the wrong way pal.

I agree we don't need a cb

Available who knows

Good cb ( bearing in mind they don't get called world class until they perform at a big club ) and there's plenty! which are available I don't have a clue. Like I said if we needed one we would get one. And we do have money

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 21:42:09
Otamendi, varane, godin , garay, subotic, hummels, Laporte and Naldo (bit old maybe) that's just off my head. Wether they would be available who knows. I'm sure if we really needed that position then we would have a shout.

Now I'm sure you can pick holes in that selection. You might not think any of them world class but if we needed a CD I would be happy with anyone of them

But from what I can gather is people don't want a world class CD just maybe a bit more depth along the back line.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jun 2015 00:17:14
Virgil Van Dyk is begging to get out of the Scottish Prem, watched him a lot and he has everything to become world class within two seasons, Merts isn't getting any younger and certainly isn't getting any faster, so no at this precise moment in time we aren't desperate but I'd certainly like us to get a player of his calibre now so that we don't end up desperate at all

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2015 01:42:37

We can't have seriously wanted kondogbia. Inter are going to pay in instalments they are not in CL and won't offer massive wages. So that tells me that there was no real interest from arsenal, real , barca or even Spurs.

Also with juventus not looking at him and the view that pogba might leave, who now would they be looking at to replace him?

It all seams very odd.

Maybe wenger thought yeah his good but we want pogba. We could afford him ( and only him) dreams dreams dream

Smoke screen to throw the scent off our real target perhaps? Whoever that may be.

Agree3 Disagree1

22 Jun 2015 00:20:29
In our dreams it's for Pogba but I'd still be over the moon if it were so we could get Spyder wrapped up.
We don't need an all out DM any more just someone to sit next to Le Coq and break forward when the game needs it

22 Jun 2015 13:19:47
JPSA..Dont we already have that player in Ramsey, Wilshire or Cazorla (or even the Ox?)...not that i disagree with Spider..he would be a fantastic addition...already proven in the premiership as opposed to some of the other players being linked who are coming from weaker leagues....

Re Cech I think people are getting carried away and, as much as I want to see it, I have my doubts. He'd be one hell of an asset to us and everyone knows that, but everyone knows Jose will be more than reluctant. Paper talk all churns out the same thing and they use the same techniques to cast aside notable doubt, but if we are to sign Cech, it needs to be done asap. whether Abramovic is unsure of his options, Arsenal still need to be proactive this window. Unfortunately if we sign a decent CDM and - dare I say it - a striker, Chelsea's reluctance to sell to a rival will only increase. Still it would be even more galling if the Cech saga went on for half the summer just to amount to nothing and we also missed out on someone like Schneiderlin in the meantime

Believable4 Unbelievable1

21 Jun 2015 11:57:19
Obviously it's never done till its done but I'd be shocked if he doesn't sign for us now, its more than just rumours and Ed002 has said for some time Cech to Arsenal is very doable.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 11:59:36
Id agree jose is not that stupid. In my opinion i think we are title contenders with cech in the team. It does seem that cech wants to stay in london however. Maybe just maybe, jose will respect his wishes as he has done so much for chelsea over the years. Tough one to call but i think he will be an Arsenal player shortly

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 15:31:07
Mourinho would have loved to rub it in by now, unless total break down cech is coming.

He is better then Lehman in my opinion, doesn't do the rush out - but he will be such a stabilising presence in the defence - it's a massive, massive thing for us if it comes off. World class I'm so excited

I believe the eds have said it's not actually up to mourinho...

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jun 2015 00:25:35
Mourinho has said it's not up to Mourinho, and he looked totally distraught at that.
Still until i hear that large framed girl singing i won't be buying my Cech shirt and protective cap!

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 09:34:08
If Cech signs any idea on the length of the contract?

Has AW dropped his views on the length of a conract for players over 30??

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Jun 2015 11:53:10
Today's keepers play at a the highest level well into their late 30s mate so I don't think that's an issue on this occasion.
Outfield players might still be a problem for Arsene though.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 15:11:05
not sure that approach has ever applied to GKs at Arsenal. How old was Lehmann the first time Wenger signed him? Then how long did he stay at Arsenal for?

Well Lauren seems convinced Cech is joining us :-), has to be true because he's invincible

Agree2 Disagree1

21 Jun 2015 12:01:26
I think at the end of the day, because Cech has been a great servant to Chelsea, the club will let him decide where he wants to go, and not block any move, be it to a local rival or not. He is a family man and I understand wants to remain in London, so a move to Arsenal will suit him. Maybe a club is actually taking into account a player and his families wishes, in preference to what may be seen as strengthening a rival. Well done all round, if it turns out to be true.

Agree2 Disagree1

20 Jun 2015 22:49:51
So Kondogbia has apparently joined Inter Milan leaving us to pursue Schneiderlin, Carvalho or Krychowiak as our defensive midfield options to provide competition to Coquelin.
Cech looks like it's edging closer with Ospina likely to agree terms with Fenerbahce.
The only other position I'd like to see an improvement in is striker, Benzema being the dream signing to link up with Ozil and Sanchez.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Jun 2015 06:05:38
Real Madrid would probably sell benzema if they can get aguero but judging by agueros comments on the speculation , it seems unlikely . I can't see many world class striker options for Real Madrid so I think benzema will stay put . Shez stays instead of Ospina is so annoying but ah well that's football .
