Kos misses the cup final after another sending off, how many is that this season? Is he losing a yard or just having to cover for to many othersโ€‹.

21 May 2017 23:06:37
Surely he has to take full responsibilityfor his madness and wenger for not instilling sense into his players. Utter madness.

Arsene wengers fault. Apparently everything is.

22 May 2017 00:30:27
D, how many players under wenger make rash stupid decisions, when they have no need? Its a coaching thing and he has to take some responsibility for his players stupid actions.

Bombast Over.

lol I was messing around. He does need to take some responsibility yes.

22 May 2017 11:51:50
Fiestly i come in peace steve, resoect tour point, just discussing it.

If these circumstaces were different would we view this differently? Cantona under fergie never seemed to calm down. Even fergie admitted he couldn't control him. But he scored a lot too.

Big pat was partial to a leg breaker tackle every now and then for us too. Rush of blood to the head, nervous occasion. It happens, they're only human. The fact we were in the situation in the first place is the issue, Koscielny is just an unfortunate garnish.

I hear you though, arsenal are frustrating and a half right now.

D, the ed dropped in "bombast over" lol.

{Ed033's Note - Sorry, couldn't help myself. Rant Over.

21 May 2017 22:27:37
Well, we won 7 of our last 8 PL games.

I guess the previous 30 PL games messed up our season. ๐Ÿ˜‚.

{Ed025's Note - no dags...that was a french speaking dinosaur mate.. :)

21 May 2017 22:48:05
Monsieur dinosaur unfortunately looks to have replaced Le prof.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - certainly looks that way G62.. :(

21 May 2017 22:54:38
No Dags it was the horrible fans that made our season go bad acvording to our intelligent manager. Not the defeat to west brom or the loss to watford or the hammering from bayern. Not the fact we bought xhaka instead of kante or perez instead of lacazette. Not the fact he left our best player, no the leagues best player on the bench in an important game, while we got the run around or the fact our league campaign ended in feb again. No the fans, they are the reason. Nasty horrible fans.

{Ed025's Note - you forgot to say."rant over" steve.. :)

And the fans were awful in the 3-0 defeat to palace.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's shedloads more passion shown by fans on these forums than there is at most EPL grounds. Stadiums are full of happy clapper tourists sitting in their half n half scarfs with a hot dog in one hand and their phone to tweet selfies in the other.}

22 May 2017 05:32:22
Never a truer word spoken ed! Arsenal appear to be one of those clubs that attract tourists. Can't tell you how many different people sat next to me this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - at the price of tickets these days, the passion is being priced out of the game.}

22 May 2017 07:01:48
It used to be a game for the working class. But as you point out those people are largely priced out.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - all that money from TV and they still can't find a way to reduce ticket prices at the games. If they do not start making it affordable soon the Prem will get overtaken by a league which has an atmosphere at the games. It really does ruin a game, even on TV, if the atmosphere is dead.}

22 May 2017 11:08:04
It's embarrassing at times at the emirates when you can here the 4000 away fans drown out the other 56k.

So 5th it is!

I can hear the excuses already how Chelsea didn't have champions league and how injuries to Cazorla and Bellerin's new haircut haven't helped our season.

The club has been rotting for some time now and it's finally starting to show, we need a shake up from top to bottom.

The club's core principles have been wavering season after season, the net spend hasn't been anywhere near what it used to, and I know that football has changed and it's all money now, but Spurs have had 7m be spend and what a team! Arsene constantly speaking in riddles in the press just makes it hard to like him, just tell people what's going on!

The club needs a forward thinker, ideally a 20 year younger Arsene Wenger, a few years ago the job would have been a handsome one but now the likes of Monaco and Atletico Madrid being in the latter stages in the champions league and us not even getting in it this year and previous to this year getting embarrassed by Bayern year on year is getting beyond a joke.

The amount of deadwood seems to just get bigger every season and we always seem to be "2 or 3 players away" especially infuriating when you see the amount spurs spent on Dele Alli, Kane and Son. We can't seem to produce the players anymore, or find young talent and actually bring them in, Wenger seems to like to rub it in our faces by telling us how he almost signed Mbappe and a young ronaldo!

A shock to the system next year, it still hasn't settled in, but I'll be behind them no matter what, but honestly I hope there's a big change either the manager or the owner or board member.

21 May 2017 20:35:56
True table doesn't lie
But leaving your best player on the bench must have affected your team and definitely gave us a massive boost i was at the game and was just so strange if itt was discpline issue thwn you would not had him on the bench and jus say its an injury and kept it under wraps. Sort of highlights the problems you are facing.

Could go back to the opening game mate! Battered Liverpool in the first half. Should have never come away with a draw let alone a win. And then games like boro at home, West Brom, Everton away etc etc. You might feel the game your referring to was more poignant because you were there watching! But let me tell you mate I've been watching arsenal all season at the emirates and if you think that was the straw that broke the camels back then let me tell you your off your rocker pal. No offence and all mate but loosing a game at anfield is no where near as telling as many others this season. Best teams in Europe can get beat there on liverpools day mate.

Liverpool fan here in peace
Well we all knew you guys would put a winning run together. We hoped you would deop some points but it never happend.
One point which seems to have been missed what would the outcome have been if wenger had not benched sanchez in the first half against us. You were awafulnin that first half and you practically gave us the 3 points sanchwz came on and changed the game wven though we got a 3rd at the death
Be good to hear your views on that match.

Listened to Keown earlier today who's clesrly recognises what Wenger has given us and the club. To fall out of the top 4 for the first time with our budget is pretty impressive however it was the rest of the chat that interested me.

Wenger succeeds when the team takes respinsibility for theirs and team performance and he play a different role.

When you sign proper players like DB10 or PV4 - you get that. When you have leaders like Keown or Adams - you get that.

The change is the players we have and how they don't work with Wengers style if management.

Who is giving Granit a hard time on passes, Full backs for bombing forward, wayward passes etc etc

So true - Wenger creates a comfortable environment that allows players to flourish, express themselves and self manage.

So - something has to change.

1. Approach
2. Players
3. Manager

Very simple and I agree. This echoes what ex-players especially creative players say about Wenger.

Whatever we do - let's get it done.

The board lost their balls and let Wenger take over too many areas and like family run businesses struggle unless they get help. The board failed by not having high expectations.

Now the board needs to step up and lay the vision down & we move on with / without Wenger but change is required

The board have waited too long to act but will now as 5th is our new position going forward as the rest plus Utd will strengthens

So - get your vision on paper & be strong

Let's not destroy Wenger as he acts in the clubs interest & that was clear from Keown

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 May 2017 20:30:57
To be fair SY this is the first time the board have had a mandate from the fans to part company with Arsene, so for the first time thier hands are aren't tied by the obstacle of fan revolt for putting Arsenal ahead of Arsene.
In fairness they have been prior to this season been in a no win situation where they are wrong whatever they do, but this is no longer the case.
What happens from now on is 100% down to Stan and the board and if Arsene stays and fails the responsibility is 100% the boards to explain.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The club will discuss the players they have been looking at and rethink what they would like to do. Some they have looked at will not worry abut EL.}

Well we did all we could to little to late but regardless of how it went down today it was the same before as it was after the game. Can't crawl out of the woodwork and Wenger hate because other teams didn't come through for us. Wenger a man who has lost his touch, the ability to influence a game, to be cutthroat and uncompromising, to adapt to the times and sadly the inability to take us any further! But he's not a fascist, a fraud, or an unpleasant human being! It's been disappointing and for the first time in 20 years we can hand on heart say that this is terrible! In the past it hasn't been good enough and disappointing but not terrible . Unfortunatly that's where we are today. But we can take comfort in the fact that in the last two decades it's the first time that it's been like this whilst every club bellow is and plenty of times the teams above us (including united who have fallen further more frequently) so that's how it is boys. Change please and change fast, let's try and add some class that's been missing from club, manager right to the fans in this time of need . Arsenal forever boys and like oscar wild said "we are all in the gutter but some of USB are looking at the stars"

COYG AFC Forever ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป.

The seasons over now and in someways I'm glad. We now know the crack beyond reproach. Let's look forward to the FA cup and we can then all reassess. Hopefully calmly and objectively. We need to also respect even if we don't agree on any descisions made in the post season. Even if Wenger stays (and I hope that's not the case) I just hopeful that he can actually buy the players that will at least give us something to be hopeful about. I don't want to start next season in a situation where Wenger stays and the players brought in are not of the standard we need or would like. He must surely realise that if he does stay he's going to have to do something to appease the fans. All top clubs that are winning things have a healthy ballence between club, manager and fans, but the only person that can do that is Wenger. Maybe we will feel more sympathetic towards him if he at least try's to sort things out. Look at united they fell from grace and broke world records to get back to where they need to be. It hasn't worked out for them as yet but the realisation is there. I hope we're afforded the same luxury in the post season.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2017 18:30:38
We didn't get champions league because we did not deserve it. We need a new direction by a new manager with new ideas. The press conference where Arsene talks in riddles about the board meeting and the answers he gives was embarrassing he thinks he is superior but in my opinion he comes across as a manager who is so up himself. The question about letting the fans know if he is leaving so they can give him a great farewell and the answer he gives shows he cares shite for us supporters . I have already said this and i wil say it again, i don't care who he signs and who stays, next season will be the same old, same old and hopefully Kroenke will see sense and sack him when he realises that he was wrong to give him a new contract because the players we keep/ sign the team selection/ tactics the medical staff and how they treat the same persistent injuries are all down to Arsene the man who takes 8.5 million a year then refuses to take accountability for when it all goestits up.

Raver mate you have had a magnificent season, 86 points the league's top scorers plus conceded the fewest goals winning 17 of your 19 home games plus Harry Kane winning the golden boot despite missing over a quarter of the season? Almost any other season you would be very worthy premier league champions mate.
Sure some will say despite all this you didn't win a trothy and that is true but the last time I checked fans didn't get a medal or a trophy at the end of the season no matter what the team achieved on the field, the best value for money any fans can get is for thier team to be competitive and totally entertaining to watch throughout the season, the result of which will 9/ 10 bring trophies with it.
Your team have done you proud this season Raver mate and I've a feeling this is just the beginning for you boys and Poch :- (
Hey ho it's been a long time coming for you boys, enjoy mate and have a brilliant summer Raver.

Wenger: "Judge me in May".
You miserable failure. You have again failed horribly. If you have an iota of respect for yourself or Arsenal, you should not be even asking for a new contract.

The Professor, The Genius, the saviour of English football. The fraud, the specialist in failure. The man who moaned for years about money ruining football but happily pocketed ยฃ8m a year, the man who spent a load of money last summer and managed to finish fifth. Sack the fraud now.

Get out of the club.
Wenger out now!

Oh well 5th and Spursday night football it is then, at the end of the season you finish were you deserve so no complaints. I can see Sanchez just running down the final year of his contract now to get a big pay day. Ozil may sign on simply because nobody seem interested in him at present.

We not really going to able to attract the players that will improve us now so I think we are kind of stuck unless big changes in ownership happen and Usamanov takes over.

Its been reported that we are not getting a director of football but a performance overseer, a physical and injury overseer and a gofer, or what ever they are going to be called. They won't be actually be running anything, won't have any actual power and the manager will still pick what players that are bought and sold. If this is the big changes that are going to take this club to the top of the pile, what a big fudge job it will be. No wonder kronks other teams are bottom of the league ( two of them ) mid table ( two of them ) and third in the western league ( for tiddlywinks I think ) or are we going to be the pioneers for the great kronk spirting empire change for the top.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 May 2017 18:00:48
im not a wenger in or wenger out, so never get involved in them chats but i am a kronke out type of guy, the way the club is being managed from an executive level is terrible and its not set up to support the modern game, it may of worked in the 90's and early naughties, but football has changed a lot since then, and the stubbornness not to change things at board room level will destroy this club long before wenger will. everone should get behind a kronke out protest.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2017 18:34:28
I think a manager should choose his own players? Look at situations like Newcastle where pardew was coaching players he didn't want/ need.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2017 19:26:16
Hey Dolally we agree on something :-)
I'm with you mate, I don't see how a manager can plan and build a side where he doesn't chose his players himself but having said that I think it's quite common place in Europe for this to happen and the coach merely coach the players he's given.
It's unusual in England but when you consider how poorly English teams have been doing in the champions league the last 5 or so seasons maybe there is something we can learn from what others do differently mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2017 21:11:12
Whatever your opinion of who chooses the players, wengers been found wanting, choosing completely the wrong players for completely the wrong reasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats a bit unfair steve, the majority of his signings have been excellent over the years mate..

21 May 2017 10:32:20
Ed,

If there is one area we need to improve on - it's buying players & getting the players we need for key positions

Wenger is a bright chap and the club is well run - why do we fail here? Sorry if you've answered this before but we know our budgets, must know valuations and must have a list of reasonable first / second and third choice targets. .

We won't sign Mbappe or however he's spelt - why court him at 100m!! Then not sign Lacazette the year before

I read this and agreed 100% but I can't believe we don't have targets as we seem to chat to all the type of players we need :

""Arsenal should have signed N'Golo Kante in the summer but ended up with Granit Xhaka," Redknapp said.

"These are the mistakes Arsenal make time and time again.

"They wait too long to make their transfers because no one ever seems to be able to make their mind up."

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - because Arsene picks the players that are signed.}

21 May 2017 10:08:46
Lacazette will be joining athletico Madrid this summer according to Lyon president. Absolutely gutted. I'm sure we don't know everything but this feels like someone who has got away the last few seasons.

Top 5 being

If it does come to pass, some of us might even call it destiny.

Seems to be a cloud of nastiness hanging over a few on here. At the end of the day, this is a forum for people to voice their opinions, and if you don't like said opinion, grow up and handle it like an adult.

I wasn't aware Arsenal had "owners" in the traditional sense of the word. They have shareholders. I presume this makes a difference in the way the club is run when compared to clubs that actually have outright owners.

{Ed002's Note - The owners of Arsenal are the shareholders of the holding company. The owners of Liverpool, Spurs, Manchester United etc. are the shareholders of the holding company. The club is not run differently to others.}
