Bayern Munich have just finisher paying off their new 75,000 capacity stadium after nine and a half years so are now able to invest in new players again without the financial restraints of the last few years.
I bet their fans are glad that's over and they can concentrate winning trophies again both at home and abroad

Did you know that in 2008 Bayern purchased the 50% of the stadium owned by 1860 Munich for the princely sum of 11 million.

Did you know that in 2010/2011 Munich had commercial income of 178 million, Man United had a paltry 114 million whilst us, well we had less than 60 million.

Did you know that Bayern the football club and Allianz the arena are two different companies, that the Allianz cost 346 million to build, compared to the nearly 500 million for the Emirates, by 2010 they'd paid off 176 million using big chunks of money (90 million) from Adidas and Audi.

Did you know we were stuck at paying at a fixed rate without the ability to pay of big chunks whilst stuck with long term poor commercial deals.

Did do know that Bayern's net spend on transfers over the last 9 or so years is close to 300 million. Ours was what, peanuts.

Did you know their nearest rivals in Germany have an income some 200 million less than Bayern's, they should win the league every year.

Did you know that Bayern could go out and blow £22 million on a keeper in 2011.

Amazing what you can do with money.

The figures may not be 100% accurate, but when did that ever stop anything getting in the way of a good story.

I just became a red dog supporter

{Ed025's Note - i think we all are kunai..

Best run club in world football. Also part owned by there fans. They don't have an american using them for a cash cow and they have a manager wanting to win titles.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree completely with Derby. Bayern are a club we should aspire to be like. Passionate, successful and ruthless from the board to the players!

Agree0 Disagree0

The sad thing is that if we spent some of the £200m in reserves wisely, we could get up there with the likes of Bayern Munich.
Cech £7m
Clyne £15m
Mings £10m
Hummels £30m
Nastasic £5m
Schneiderlin £20m
Bender £20m
Total £107m

Sell:
Ospina £3m
Monreal £5m
Mertesacker £10m
Rosicky £3m
Podolski £10m
Campbell £7m
Jenkinson £5m
Total £43m

Release: Arteta, Flamini & Abu Diaby

So £64m would provide a strong squad, capable of challenging the top clubs.

Reality: We will sign one defender in January and continue with the awful Flamini & Arteta until the end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your reality prediction will be spot on imo Robbie that's exactly what I expect to happen too mate. A CB who can cover other postions too at a push would seem very Arsene like

Agree0 Disagree0

Robbie,

As much as I love the players you think we should sign I still think we lack a star striker up front. I like Giroud and Welbeck but there's somthing missing up top.

I also think your optimistic at getting the best CB in Europe for £30mil and the wages players like Hummels and Cech would command is unrealistic for us at the moment due to FFP restrictions.

Also Santi has to go. He's on massive wages and isn't half the player he was a few years ago. He could command up to £15million I reckon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best centre back in europe is kompany. So yes 30million won't get him lol

He didn't take part?

its a training injury from being rusty - everyone knew he wouldn't be straight back into the team.

Pretty sure he went but to follow the fitness programme he was under at Arsenal.

He needs to train hard to play hard, it's a minor tightening in his groin and don't imagine a lot to worry about.

Famous last words, I'm hoping not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Diego costa stayed at home with the physio and is fit to play. Pointless traveling with the team. Could of done extra core work etc. silly call from hodgson

Spot on Derby

I'm sure this has been discussed but I scrolled down a bit n didn't see it recently. But let's be honest most of us would say flamini and arteta aren't good enough to be our DMs. What about wilshere then? I've always said no way as his tackling is too rash. However he seems to be doing a decent job for England there and wants to play there so why not?

One problem however is arsene. Is he too stubborn to try this? I would say yes. Anyone that knows me knows I back that man but lately his stubbornness is p*****g me off. Never seems willing to try new things. Bet his wife gets annoyed by that too. Views guys and girls?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I've come to the conclusion we don't have a DM so why bother, plus without Kos we have a bottom half of the table if not religation contending defence so accept it and move on.
All out attack is what we are built for so we might as well try and out score teams 4 3 and 5 4, its not the best plan and no sane manager would do it and expect title's but its Arsene we talking about here, if you can bveat him join him I say with a formation of
1
3
2
5

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem with Jack doing the DM role is that Arsene knows he has a lot to offer going forward and his games is more well rounded than to play as a break up play type of midfielder.

Look at John Obi Mikel for example, once regarded as the next attacking midfield maestro but Chelsea has killed his ability and career by playing him as a holding midfielder. Surely we don't want that happening to Jack.

Although not ideal, I would prefer us to play the following back four against United: Bellerin, Mertesacker, Chambers & Gibbs. I was in two minds whether to play Bellerin or Flamini at right back, going with Bellerin as he has far more pace than Flamini. I would not play Monreal at centre back against United, as Rooney & RVP would run riot against him.
I would play Wilshere & Ramsey in front of the back four, with Ox, Cazorla & Sanchez in the attacking midfield roles and Welbeck up front, only if there is no risk from his hamstring. If there is, then I would move Sanchez up front and bring Podolski or Campbell in.
I believe this matche will be won by the more effective forwards, as both defences are weak. My main fear is that Wenger will press forward, as usual and play a high line. If ever there was a match to defend deep and counter attack, this is it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think this ones full of goals Robbie with 2 2 min I expect but i'm pretty sure there will be a winner so I'm going Arsenal 4 Manchester United 2.
They proved against chavs they can be resilient when they have to be but I think they fancy their chances against us so will go for it leaving room for lots of mistakes and gaps for us to exposé.
Loads of silly mistakes from both defences are likly and both teams look capable of taking advantage of them, classic in terms of quality may be not but in terms of excitement should be one not to miss

Agree0 Disagree0

What odds on a 0-0!

Agree0 Disagree0

You'd want good ones to put any real money on that one mate :-)
We desperately need to beat a team of potential top four quality so we'll go for it big style and that can only mean goals, at which end is anyone's guess but goals are almost certainly guaranteed imo and lots of them
