Believable0 Unbelievable0

Was it the 7 goals against the Geordies?

Agree0 Disagree0

No white rabbit, try again my friend

Agree0 Disagree0

Was it most individuals over 10 goals? Podolski, Giroud, Walcott and Santi?

Win the match tomorrow and we are virtually locked to move on to the knockouts

Many expected us to struggle, perhaps bow out from "the group of death"

Then we decided to go ahead and get the job done in three matches. What a statement that would be

I have a lot of respect for Dortmund and am aware their counter can be devastating

I enjoy the way they play and really like Klopp as a manager

That being said, I expect to kick their ass tomorrow

Do the job boys, and the next three we can get some squad guys minutes and big experience

Arsene will play his strongest team in the Livpool, Dortmund return and man u games and that will include Flamini no question.
So who's going to make way for him chaps

Artetta or Jack are favourite's at the moment so need to do really well

Then Santi a long shot but not safe

With only injury or sudden massive dip in form keeping out Mesut or Aaron that's for sure.

So its over to you lads
MF competition doesn't get any tougher than this!!!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

G62 Arteta for me mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta's lack of pace is a big problem

We are going to miss Flam

Great to see us doing so well at the moment, the players and us fans all have huge smiles on our faces. Ramsey is just on fire and the rest of the team are top of their game. Dortmund will be a huge test tomorrow and if we can win this game, a lot of teams at home and across Europe will sit up and take notice. Well done boys keep up the good work.

For the people who keep saying we haven't played the top teams yet, this is how I see it:

Man Utd - Appalling start to this season and I don't think that will change in the 2 or 3 league games before we play them, their defence is in tatters. Moyes is not Ferguson and as much as the pundits don't like to say it Fergie won that title last year far too many players on the wrong side of 30 and a manager who has done well in the league but yoyo'd Everton up and down the EPL table.

Man City - Looked ok this season have only won 1 away game and I think their best game was against Utd who made them look V.Good. I think they are very beatable especially if a team scores against them first, plus we already beat them 3 - 0/1 (Can't remember the exact score) at the beginning of August.

Chelsea - Biggest threat to ANY of the top sides but Mourinho hasn't got any idea how to manage an attacking team. Yes they can beat anyone but they don't seem to play as a team like they have in seasons past.

Liverpool - Why people call them a top side is kinda shambolic but hey same could be said about us. Been sliding since Suarez came back I think they have just reverted back to last season where Suarez just seems to be at the heart of everything and players who were contributing a lot seem to have slacked off last few games. I could be wrong but we will see.

My point being is we have the strongest core squad of any of the top teams from Manager to Players, in effect this season we only signed 1 New first team regular Ozil as Flamini already understands our club and it's ways.

The Arsenal team itself is not playing to it's full potential yet and little tweaks will be made with a few strong players to come back. I think we will beat all of the teams mentioned except for maybe Chelsea and if Man City suddenly spring to life, but as everyone can see they are both playing like teams of Individuals whereas we seem to be moving as one cohesive unit.

Afternoon to all

I have been reading reports for some time now regarding a new striker, Benzema, Suarez, Rooney etc. but after 8 games of the season my opinion remains that Giroud should remain our number 1 striker, and any additional support brought in must be someone playing just that. 'support'.
When the ball goes long to Giroud, either from goal kick or defender, the ball sticks. He is excellent at holding the ball up, and laying off to someone in space, thus relieveing a lot of pressure on the defence. He also makes excellent runs, constantly bursting towards the front post to nick a 'poacher' goal. Whilst defending corners he is excellent at winning the ball, and again reducing pressure form the back. And to top if of, how many assists have we seen from him?!? Slick classy assists. Jack's goal just 1 exmaple of many. This boy can play, and I fear that should we buy Benzema then he will fail to contribute anywhere near Giroud.
I don't disagree that number wise we need another striker, I just hope it isn't someone that is going to replace Giroud. For me a young Hernandez type player is what we need. Someone who can come on when we need a goal, and someone who can play the odd game as a starter. Opinions?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If benzema signs he will probably be back up for giroud anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

Giroud is having a great start to the season and fingers crossed if he keeps injury free he would be one of the first names on the team sheet. I would loved to have seen Suarez signed in the summer as he would have suited our pass and move play to a tee. I think he may well be holding out for a move to Madrid and as a alternative I wouldn't mind seeing Hernandez play for us although I would doubt United would sell him to us.
Just a mention for Flamini, you my son are a legend, a true warrior.

Akie,

wenger is not going to spend 20+million for a backup.

Stop any title talk. NOW

We have played 8 games, and still to play Man C, Chelsea, Liverpool or the Champions .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Oct 2013 15:05:37
I'm not really sure there is title talk, just an air of enjoyment at what the team as a whole are doing, we're taking in some beautiful football, watching players develop into real quality with the boost of a certain little German guy and the return of a wonderful little Spanish guy.

None of us want it to end but think we all know the hard yards are ahead. November is notoriously a difficult month for us.

Maybe February and still being in the hunt will be a time to talk trophies, which ever form they may come in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why so negative, we gooners are allowed to dream. if we want to talk about winning the title then so be it we have won it before and we will win it again why not this season.

COYG
Peace out

Agree0 Disagree0

You all can dream all you want, as far as I am concerned, this is it, this is our chance to get the "monkey" of our back by winning the prem league. This team is full of talent and for once there is a true balance in the squad, the league is there for the taking and trust me its not a dream.

Agree0 Disagree0

I see nothing wrong in being happy about our team playing so well and winning games we have struggled with in the past, if we can't be happy now there's no hope for us!
As for winning the league? I don't think anyone has said we will definitely win it but lots of think we can. win it, there is a difference.
For me this is our best season we have had for a long time already, why? because we are playing beautiful football and we are genuine contenders, its been a long time since were that. So yup I'm very very happy

This season I am closely following two teams:

1. My beloved Arsenal. They are playing so well and winning. Wenger has found a winning formula. Players are shining, fans are happy. Fantastic!

2. Manchester United. I mean you got to admit, it does feel good to see them 11 points adrift. They are playing badly and have no composure. Nothing is certain for them and every game for them is like playing Russian Roulette. Only God knows what's going to happen!

I love this team and I am sure we are very capable of winning a couple of trophies

Believable0 Unbelievable0

8 points

Agree0 Disagree0

Well its still early days.

i think we can win a trophy. if we can win against chelsea next wednesday, who know's we could win the league cup.

from our current position, yes we have difficult games to play, but I really do not see any reason why not to be optimistic.

Liverpool, Man utd, chelsea will equally be afraid to play us. I really don't see us as a walk over team this year.

Teams that win the title win against the teams that you are supposed to win against.

Chelsea, Man utd, Liverpool, Spurs, City - 30 points, of which we have 3 from spurs. if we can manage to take another 12, which basically means win our home games against them, I am more than confident we can consider ourselves genuine title contenders.

19 points we have + possible 15 (34 points from 18 games.

which means we have 20 games = 60 points.

so if we manage to pick up 50 points which we are more than capable of doing, I think we have enough optimism to say we can win the league at 84 points.

we picked up 73 points last season with a second half surge.

I am not concerned about man utd. its early days but

They drew to chelsea, lost to liverpool, lost to city, lost to west brom, almost lost to sunderland and drew with southampton.

They have to play

Stoke@home
Fulham@Away
Arsenal@Home
Cardiff@away
Spurs@Away
Everton@Home
Newcastle@Home
Villa@away

They need to win all 8 games to come back into the title fight. to bring them to 35 points.

looking at our next 8 games

we have

Palace@away - 3 points
Liverpool@home - 1 points
Man Utd@Away - 1 point
Soton@Home - 3 points
Cardiff@away - 3 points
Hull@Home - 3 points
Everton@home - 1 point
Man City@away - 1 point

16/24 points

= 35 points with 16 games played.

if we can get to that points total by dec, considering we will have played Man utd, Man city away, I think we have a very good chance to contend.

I know at some stage Wenger will retire but can you imagine us replacing him with someone who has won a big fat zero and whose team play a pretty poor version of football.

I still can't believe they let him blow £27 million on Fellaini who was really worth what £12 million max. Crazy but wonderful to watch.

Do you reckon they'll be on the blower to Arry soon?

Özil. I have nothing to say about him. I just like typing his name.

As has already been mentioned Flamini is crucial for us, and I'm hoping he is available tomorrow, but concussion is serious and should not be taken lightly. I on the other hand say who cares if he can't remember his children's names, or the love he has for his mother, Play him. ;-)

Had a dream last night. I was in a car ready to drive off a cliff Thelma and Louise stylee. I turned my head and there holding my hand was the beautiful Adonis Giroud. It was beautiful. He confuses me :-

Özil.

Arteta step forward, Flamini is out, guess we'll have to make do with him, Ramsey, Ozil, Wilshere, Giroud and Cazorla as our front 6. Bummer.

It's going to be a great test tomorrow and we will miss him no doubt but those 6 sound pretty awesome to me.

You could always just think of him as Olivia G and close your eyes.

Flybo, you are funny.

Yet another setback from Diaby. Maybe until March (or next season).
So my question for my fellow gooner, Abou Diaby; keep or release? (sell not an option because nobody will buy an injured player. And if they do, Diaby won't pass the medical) {Ed001's Note - I added it as a poll for you.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Much as I love him as a player when he is fit, it really isn't that often so I would say release and get him off the wage bill.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal's training methods and general conditioning of their players needs to be looked into. In addition Wenger needs to have enough quality in the squad to rotate players.

Really looking forward to the Dortmund game and won't make any predictions ( you can breathe easy DG :-) ) they are a very good side but I have no fears at all, just pure excitement.

I'm not saying we can't loose or draw this one that would be stupid, but I have a belief in us that hasn't been there for a long long time, fear of what might happen to us and how we might get over run in big games of the past have totally been replaced by child like excitement and a feeling of the next game just can't get here quick enough :-).

Hope for us has been replaced by belief in us again :-) :-) :-) :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hehe thank you G62, I believe we will now win lol

Wenger says Diaby has had a setback and now out until March. Just release him for crying out loud.
It actually does not seem ethical to deprive another player of a first team squad number.

Feel for Diaby but let's be honest, his career was cut short years ago by that tackle at Sunderland. It's all been a waste of time for him and us since then

Might be a bit late on my thoughts on Saturdays game. That match was incredible. Norwich played well yet we beat them so comfortably. We have the best midfield in the PL. Giroud is looking fantastic. Defence solid and Szezsncy seems to have cut out the errors. That first goal though, had it been Messi and Iniesta linking up like that we would never hear the end of it. The last flick from Giroud was just sublime.

If we continue like this we will win a trophy. Wenger has found a winning formula. Some say we are untested against big teams. Spurs and Napoli (especially) are very good teams. Winning away in Marseille or Swansea isn't exactly easy either. Dortmund tomorrow (technically its Monday) is going to be a cracker. i'm going for 3-2 to us.

Peace

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its all good Detroit, and your right about Szczesney he does seem to have stopped the crazy stuff that made me afraid every time the ball went near our goal, hope he keeps it going because he's a good keeper if he can control himself.
Even if we beat Dortmund plus Liv and Man U people will be saying they ain't played city or Chelsea yet.
All I know for sure is we will be a lot closer to the title this year than for more years than I care to remember and we will do it winning lots of friends along the way

I hate seeing your mob so happy, but you're currently playing the best football I've seen in this league for a long long time, and if you're a lover of the game it's hard not to enjoy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thank you, spoken like a real man and football fan.
Let's face it in recent years who hasn't wished there team played like Barcelona and enjoyed there success that came with such fantastic football to watch.

We all want our team to be the best but the true sign of greatness is to be both the best and admired.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think I can speak for all the other teams, when I say I hope it isn't long lived! But congratulations so far the bounce back from villa has been frightening.

Everyone knows the talent has been there who knew 1 signing could make it all click like the arsenal of old.
